80 ~Warrior~ Delvoire | 80 ~Ele~ Azalea Avenir
80 ~ Guardian~ Rag Nor | Server ~ FA
TLDR: Adjust PPT to be higher/lower depending on total WvW population
I’ve thought about this as well and think that Coverage is the main concern. It seems unfair that a server can have one guild or a decent player base at a certain time of day and that can influence the result of a win or not.
IMO, PPT should only tick if the WvW population is equal on all 3 servers.
Great fights with HOPE and RAM these past few days… we’ve really enjoyed it! I want to give a shout out to HOPE as well for commanding very large numbers while maintaining extremely good map awareness and response time. It made all the difference in these scores imo. /salute
Yes, their map awareness and response time is superb… a necessity I’m sure in the upper tiers. YB is steadily improving and this week presents a great opportunity to learn from FA, which we already have been.
Also, it has been awesome seeing RAM out there, even if they’re on the other side.
Thanks for all the fights!
Voice Chat makes a world of difference. I finally decided to jump on board and joined our server TS this past weekend and wow. The strategy and communication was a marvelous thing to behold. It increased the fun of WvW but ten fold easily.
I dont get this. Scarlet has been a major and decent villian ingame for a while now.
But most of the player base wants to see her get killed of or either just be ignored.
Sure i’d rather see an elder dragon awaken but if its going to be another shoot the canons at zaithan fight I prefer they wait until they are able to make it a decent encounter.Scarlet on the other had gave us decent content with interesting enemies and more.
so whatsupp with this scarlet needs to die , its like trahearne all over again -_-
It’s not all of the player base. Just a high amount of the forum warriors. I personally think Scarlet is a fine villain.
People weren’t complaining when they got their Scarlet gift after the start of the invasions. I actually remember coming on the forums and seeing a lot of kudos for it.
Just a few short months later and people are already set to move on and not let the storyline breathe.
Lots of fun this weekend in WvW. The bags were yummy
Shout out to Tyrion who may have the sexiest voice in all of TS.
YBBL was a blast yesterday. Had some nice fights on Hills when 3 people were able to hold off a nice sized zerg of YB while we came in and protected lords like no other and effectively wiped them all. It was beauty.
If only work could fly by so I could be logging back in and get back to collecting some loot.
I’ve been wondering about the centaurs, myself.
I haven’t seen or read anything to indicate that they might be involved, but they and the bandits are the largest two enemy “factions” found in that zone. I don’t see why Anet would go to the trouble of bringing in the Nightmare Court (which has no discernible presence in the region) when it can make use of the existing NPC’s and perhaps add a little depth to the area’s lore. And I’ve never seen bandits use magic of any kind, so that leaves the centaurs.
Are the centaur sages capable of creating this “monument to fear”? Perhaps, with the aid of the krait witches and their slaves. What would it be for? Harvesting strawberries, what else?
Just kidding.
Of course it would be for eliminating the hated humans, something the krait and centaurs can agree on. But this is just me speculating.
The krait have had a good presence on that map as well. One of the dynamic event chains there has you helping the fishing villagers of the town that’s there on the lake.
It’s awesome you had fun but everything you do now are things you could’ve been doing for the past few months. How can you double your kill count in one night? Do you mean your kill count on your League achievements? It would’ve been great to see some of you PvErs around before they start giving some arbitrary reward. I hope you do stick around and defy the norm for PvErs, especially when we need numbers once we’re back in T2 rank/Gold league.
I stopped playing WvW around when they took out Culling. Instead I decided to focus on lvling my toons to 80 and gearing them up so I was more use on the battlefield. I’ve always enjoyed WvW, but wanted to be more use and have more options.
By doubling my kill count, I mean overall and not for the achievement. I’m more of a PvXer than a PvE person.. I do sPvP occasionally and as I’ve stated above, done some WvW as well. Before last night my kills were only above the 100 range… now it’s over the 200 range. I enjoyed it.
Furthermore, I do intend to play more WvW now and moving on. The rewards are good, it’s fun, and it’s a good change of pace.
As it is right now, next week will have a pretty good match up between FA, YB, and CD. The winner of that will take sole position of First Place in the season.
What do you mean by pretty good? It won’t be even remotely close PPT wise.
Don’t mind him. He’s one of the achievement hunting PvErs that suddenly is involved in WvW because of the oh so novel change from tiers to Leagues. People that have any actual WvW knowledge understand it shouldn’t be close.
Yep. Achievements are yummy nomnomnom
Oh..and I said a good matchup, not a close one.

I mean pretty good because it will be 3 servers who are all tied for 1st place and the winner will have sole position of 1st.
I’m not talking about coverage or PPT or anything like that. I mean if everyone just wants to hand FA the win for the entire season, have at it. I’m personally looking at each match up from week to week and going from there. You know.. playing the game and having some fun.
In all the time I’ve played GW2 (since launch) I’ve not had more fun in WvW than I did last night. Good stuff on DBBL.
Abys, some good fighting last night. There was a Necro that was holding his own fairly well against 3 or 4 of us FA Roamers.
It was great running with CL too. The battle for Bays was tons of fun. I scored more bags last night than I ever had. I actually nearly doubled my total kill count haha.
Cheers to ANET for changing WvW up some and making it a little more interesting for a PvXer like myself.
Good luck to both DB and SBI moving forward
Unfortunately this is what ANET wants. They want people like yourself who take a break or even new people to see these skins and go “I want that”.
It’s a reward for the people who took part in that aspect of the living story or game and also an incentive for new and returning people to check in often to see what new goodies you can get.
Except it’s a bad idea that doesn’t work at all. It actually does the opposite of what they want it to do- it’s a disincentive to ever come back when you have to play consistently on Arenanet’s schedule or miss major things.
I honestly can’t believe this concept still has any white knights left. It’s a complete failure.
While I’m not a white knight for the cause.. they make up for this by continuously bringing out skins and other things. In this case the person missed the Jet Pack skin. It sucks, yes. But how many other back piece skins have come out and will come out. Perhaps the next update will have an even better skin for that person.
Personally I have too many back skins. I have 2 in my bank that I wont equip because all 5 of my toons have ones that fit them.
It sucks to miss that one time item, but the good news is there are more coming every 2 weeks….

Fort Aspenwood is a pretty cozy server

Thanks for the input guys. So far all 5 professions have been suggested
I may have to take a close look at the gear of the 5 to fully factor in the build costs. I have the most fun playing my Guardian, Ele and Eng so that may help me in deciding too. I like my Thief, but I’m just not a fan of the stealth builds. Everyone runs a Warrior so that’s why I hesitate to use him.
I would prefer to run in Havoc groups.. but I would need to find one of those first ha
So I have 5 lvl 80 toons and I’m at the point now where I want to set at least one to exclusively use in WvW. I’ve only dabbled in WvW but the new Seasons has me a little excited and I want to jump back in.
Which Toon should I convert to an exclusive WvW build though?
Warrior
Guardian
Engineer
Elementalist
Thief
The builds for all 5 are currently just decent PvE builds. They mostly all have Exotic armor and weapons and a couple Ascended trinkets each. Which would be the easiest to convert? As my Guild does not really WvW I tend to play as a solo roamer and join the zergs every now and then.
Help me WvW community, you’re my only hope.
No Dev response.. I’m saddened by this
Please god not another JP. Anything but another JP. They were interesting at first but I feel like they’re friggin everywhere now.
Every map……..
i concur. let’s take it easy on JP’s for about 6 months..
Granted I am on FA, but we have queues every day now, which is not the norm according to people who have been on the server. Every map is now queued in primetime for at least 15 minutes for people in my guild. I know it doesn’t seem like much but it does impact how my guild organizes and moves out across the maps. Its not crippling per se, but it does effect our playing.
As someone who has been on FA since launch, this is how it was 6 or so months ago when FA was in T2 and trying to break into T1.
Heart of the Tower = an ancient Krait relic with lots of history that sparks interest of fractal researchers and leads to a new krait based fractal
Now you’re talking crazy. We are still waiting on the fractal Elen Keil promised us months ago….
Yeah. I’d take this over a mini Krait any day.
I don’t follow? How is having a spot to gain a Skill Point Daily (which you need for recipes) or use to charge Quartz Crystals (which you need for crafting) in a convenient spot a bad thing?
Now instead of mining the quartz and WP to a Skill Point you know of, it’s all right there for you. That’s a quality of life upgrade I’m more than happy to achieve.
Perhaps I’m just pleased with the simple things……
It’s not daily skill point, just single skill (hope not single) point that stays as Place of power so you can charge quartz. I would agree about Quality of life upgrade, but I think a skill point and small tiny QoF upgrade is not worthy of being reward for Meta achievement.
Hmm.. well if the Skill point is one time.. that takes away from it a lot. Hopefully they are both on a daily reset.
Oh god.. no Underwater content.. please.
I hope it’s a great dungeon to go through with some good drops. Perhaps some good Ascended crafting materials

I would like to be the first to say, this reward is pretty awesome. A nice convenient spot to power up my Quartz Crystals.
Well done ANET.
I can’t wait to see exactly what the Krait have in store for us.
There was a teleport bot months ago too that you could basically fly with. My brother used it and effectively got banned from the game. He was using for a good while before he got banned as well…
Rank 6. 8 kills.
So, for the majority of my year+ in Guild Wars 2 I’ve been playing PvE. I’ve had a rare stint into PvP and WvW, but the latter two were relatively unfulfilling. Recently, I joined a new guild that has a significantly larger WvW presence and the WvW Seasons happened to come about at the same time. In the short time that I’ve been going around since the season started I can honestly say I’ve had more fun than any previous stint in WvW and will likely stay after I’ve completed achievements.
Seasons and the new guild have given me motivation to explore and rediscover this content that I’d long ago decided I didn’t care for. I’m thrilled to say that I was wrong and will keep WvW as a part of my regular Guild Wars 2 play.
That’s awesome to hear! I can tell you that I’ve been surprised how much I’ve heard this from a lot of pve’ers coming into WvW that have recently joined our guild. I find that when you’re running with guildies and friends it certainly makes it far more enjoyable then running around by yourself
As a normal PvE’er myself, I can concur that running with people in WvW makes it much better. I’ve been a player since launch and have dabbled in WvW a few times. I always got bored though as I’ve run it solo. I’m still running it solo, but I do like a lot of the changes they’ve made.
Also, as a PvE’er, I’m not a fan of the Jumping Puzzles……
It also makes it harder for people to join into WvW when there are so many WvW players who seem to think they are better then the rest of the community and don’t even want new people to try this game mode. Instantly they are looked at as achievement hunters, Puzzle Jumpers, not skilled, taking up another players spot, and bashed very often.
Really? Cartoons can’t be dark? I would like to draw Transformers:Prime. It is easily one of the darkest shows I have watched in a long time and I watch Walking Dead. And I am twenty seven. Disproved your entire argument. Now to tell you why it is even further incorrect.
Besides, GW2 already has a pretty grim storyline. World on the brink of disaster. Monolithic dark god-thing with an army of undead people, animals, and even plants preparing for a major offensive. Oh yeah, and there are betrayals. Sure, not to the extent of Khilbron from GW1, but there are some in there. So, I must ask: Did you even pay attention to the story?
Prove to me that Scarlet is not a cartoon villain and you have a case.
She murdered the Asuran who helped her become Scarlet.
Also, as a 31 year old male, I easily love watching cartoons. The new TMNT is amazing
I can totally agree about the candy corn aspect. It does seem like an ungodly amount of candy corn to do anything really…
As for the rest, not so much of a grind. I don’t play very often with kids and work. I might get in a few hours a day..and I completed the Halloween achievements pretty easily. You don’t even need to get all those meta achievements because if you get the 2 that pop for dailies, those count.
10 minute queue time here for Silver League server.
Living the good life.
Isn’t it technically….neither? As there is no entrance or exit.
Are there any good current ones out there? I’ve tried to find some but it looks like most have not been updated any time recently.
It would be much appreciated if anyone could suggest some good ones.
How about letting these enemies spawn from doors in the open world. Maybe 1 in 30 chance.
Grand High Viscount of Candy Corn
Labyrinthine Horror
Legendary Skeletal LichNo thanks.
Why, the Halloween doors are boring as they are now.
The doors in the open world are a little stale. That’s because you’re supposed to enter the doors and head to the labyrinth. This way you can fight the legendaries, farm candy corn nodes, and get your door achievements all in one spot.
They should just do a GW2 podcast and have someone live read the stories. Then you could listen to them while you played
Also a good way for Developers to address the community
Just not WoodenPotatoes.
Sorry WP
haha. I quiet enjoy listening to WoodenPotatoes reading the short stories.
I’m not following how it contradicts anything.
The castle fell and then Wynn and the others caught up to the Mad King as he fled or was fleeing.
“So what did you do?
We murdered him from ambush, but didn’t stop there. We put his pieces in different boxes so we could hide them with obscuring spells. "
They couldn’t have killed him in the sacking of the castle, as that wouldn’t have been an ambush.
I can’t figure out how the burning of Pelchalice is out of order either..

I love them as well. I think the main gripe though, is some people don’t want to go to the website to read the stories. They want it all immersed within the game.
It seems there’s a focus on achievement point grind and I think they’re using that to keep people reeled in. With the WvW season starting today, you’ll see a whole new set for WvW alone, most likely an attempt to get more people to play it and to dangle another carrot.
Very true. I know I’ll be jumping in some WvW today just because of the new season aspect and the achievements now available for it. I haven’t done WvW in about 6 months….
You’d be hard pressed to find a long story line that ties up every loose end. They keep them loose for a reason, so they can go back to those points or tie them to other stories in the future. GW2 is a game that has years of longevity. Why not start a story that will have one loose end, and that finally takes shape a year later or what not. It’s about payoff and it’s personal opinion if you want that to happen instantly or if you like it to be drawn out and revealed later.
Consider that many stories were heavily foreshadowed in the GW1 games between 2005-2007. Livia and the sceptor, Bahltek’s investigations into other realms, Evenia’s disappearance, the Mursaat, the Seers, the isles of Janthir, the other Bloodstones, the cyphers, Palawa Joko’s conquest, the Winds of Change, Primordius’ rise and that of the other dragons. I could go on.
All of these quests/stories were so heavily foreshadowed over the course of those games that it was obvious they had a plan to design content to tie them up. But it is now 2013 and we have had nothing on them. That is 6 years. Can you see how the long time fan base is getting anxious? You say it be ok if stories get tied up in a year, and I agree with you, but that is not how things have gone. Would you be ok with them not explaining what is up with Scarlet until 2019 at the earliest because that would be similar.
Note that many(all?) of the people leading those projects, both in writing and design, have moved on from Anet, at least in a full time capacity, and there are many new people with new ideas, which is fine . However, the franchise has its own life and deserves the respect of being properly attended to by its new caretakers.
Sorry. I was speaking to stories in general. I never played GW1 so I can’t speak to that having open story lines that never were fulfilled….
That does strike a good question on if open threads will ever get tied up though. They are generally just loopholes in case a writer wants to use past story lines or plot points.
Is this the same as last year where you need to eat a bunch of candy corn until you throw up?
Nothing I loathe more than when a forum question is answered by a simple link.
I’ll have to agree with mercury on the analysis of the Living Stories thus far. With one exception that it was hinted the Tequatl strengthening is tied with the Living Story main arc.

I’ve loved the overall arc of the Living Story. I’m fine with a pay off that is years in the making.
The best part about the achievements is that you basically complete them just from doing normal content. I personally don’t feel pressured to go after them or anything. I just play and if I ding an achievement, yippee!
That’s what I like about this game as a whole. The Tequatl and Aetherpath living story updates didn’t interest me too much. I basically took a month break and missing those achievements didn’t bother me at all. Yes, it slowed my progress towards my 6500 Achievement chest, but that’s about it.
The point I’m making is that you can play the game normally without having to do the achievements at all. You’ll get some just by playing and then if you want the others, you can go for them. This game is full of choices, it’s up to the player to make the ones that best fit them.
Just a side note. It’s not just your home instance, but all the home instances will have this node for you.
At least that’s how it works for me and the Quartz node.
But you can only use it once in one instance for the day. So don’t be surprised if you go to one of the others and there’s nothing there.
Oh yes. It still is only once per day, but if you are a Charr you don’t NEED to go to the Black Citadel to do it. If you happen to be in another starting city, you can just access the node there.
Where is Hobo-Tron!? We haven’t seen him since Scarlet had him tied up and captured with Marcello DiGiacomo. Were have our two favorite bickering minstrels gone!?
Just a side note. It’s not just your home instance, but all the home instances will have this node for you.
At least that’s how it works for me and the Quartz node.
Change your F key to AOE loot. Problem solved. You’ll also thank me later when you’re cleaning up after clearing doors in the labyrinth.
Thanks. I did re-log and it worked.
Just wondering if I’m missing something or if this is bugged.
I went to go find Tessi, did so and joined her int he catacombs. The Bloody Prince arrives and I drive him back with the candy corn…and then nothing. I can’t speak to Tessi and the Prince is gone. It still prompts me to hit him with candy corn…but I can’t.
I reported as a bug but just curious if it’s just me or if others are experiencing this. I’m relogging now to see if that works..
Oh. Well if it’s only the Slickpack that isn’t able to achieve, that is fine by me. I have 5 toons and already have way too many back skins….
I was sad to see this gone too. These usually last 4 weeks and it seems this one was only for 2?
Is the Aetherpath of the Dungeon still available? I have an Aether Key I need to use.
