i have all achievement except but i have 10/13 … i have no idea how i will be able to complete this .. limited time to play + map rotation is always the same when i log in.

I’ve had fun doing the last few updates. Anything is more fun than that Aetherblade dungeon…………. I still have nightmares about that one.

The petty bickering back and forth about what is right and what is not is so old, especially in map chat.

I’ve been witness to events failing, and it wasn’t because of farming. I mean Aetherblades spawned in the 2nd wave and were still there for the 3rd wave because the overflow was just either too bunched, filled with REALLY bad built toons, or didn’t fill enough. Either way, no one to really blame.

And for the people who like to map chat yell that we are too grouped together and spread out. Grab some of your friends and MOVE ALONG THEN! Stop yelling for others to move along and do it yourself.

I will continue to fight how I want in these events. I will kill champs when I see them, I will rez people who are downed (if your fully dead, just WP please), and sometimes I will even zone in and just stand there just to get the achievement. Don’t like it? O’ Well.

I agree with having the achievements show what you still need on multiple optioned ones. Like the dungeon example. There are a few Achievements out there where I don’t know what left I have to do because of this. Just a 2/3 Tier 2 doesn’t help much… at all.

I did use Pen and Paper for this one.. All I need now is Frostgorge.

I got into an overflow last night after the new build.

In fact, the other day I logged on and an event was in progress. I needed the achievement for it but knew I missed the 10 minute window. What did I do you may ask….

Well simple, really. I asked my guildies if anyone was currently doing the event. They said Yes. I asked to join them. Upon part invite acceptance, I right clicked their name and joined the map. BAM! I was now happily in the event, in an overflow, with my guildies.

If you’ve tried these steps, and still fail to get into the event, you may want to start reporting bugs.

I’ve looked… and I can’t find the direct quote that says this patch was going to clear up all the loose ends.

I know I read somewhere though that they said as the year goes along, those loose ends will be tied up.

I really don’t understand the complaints on the story.

See, the key term they use is “Living” story. It breathes, it grows, and it lives. It continues to drop more and more stuff.

Nearly all story lines and plots are pretty predictable. It’s few and far between when any story throws a curve ball and something happens that wasn’t expected. I mean, this is why there are story elements taught to people about foreshadowing and red herrings and all kinds of stuff.

People are mad because they haven’t said how or why Scarlet is using the Molten Alliance or the Aetherblades. That’s simple really. It’s because there is more story to come. In two weeks will get some more information or the journey will take us on another path. All of this has been for a purpose.

This story started months ago and continues to grow and evolve. It’s pretty amazing to me. I wouldn’t even be mad if we didn’t find out Scarlet’s true motivations for another 6 months. It’s why I’m playing an MMO and not just buying a run of the mill game that is beaten and done in 5 days.

There is basically no reward for winning. You get far more reward for killing more champions and having fun.

The only extra reward you get for completing is if you kill Scarlet you get two guaranteed rare drops. That’s it…

Well… to be honest, the event isn’t just two weeks. They said the invasions will continue even after the 2 weeks. I don’t know if that means the achievements will still be available.

I got it twice out of two invasions last night (And I didn’t even get home from work until after the daily reset, so it wasn’t due to that) so I’m not sure that’s true.

Sorry. My phrasing wasn’t complete. You get the reward, once per day, per map, per account.

So if you complete the event on Blazeridge Steppes, when that map cycles up again (Before daily reset) you won’t get a completion reward.

As a side note.. you do realize you can only get the completion reward once a day, right?

With that said and I was doing the map invasion for the second time that day, I would rather farm champs for loot than work towards the completion and get nothing. Just putting that opinion out there.

With the first part, you can assume that it’s a future of the current reality where someone corrupted the minds of Shodd and Asura PC to convince them that Zojja is controlling and then they reach greatness by ignoring the governing rules of Asura. Key words, though: MY creations.

With the second part, you can tell that it’s not the current reality but a fragmented reality (assuming ours is the “real” reality) because if we killed ourselves, then how would we kill ourselves and that’s a philosophical debate for another day.

It’s interesting to note that they conquered Tyria, so that might mean that there is a much larger, stronger steam creature capable of defeating Elder Dragons.

I just watched a Wooden Potatoes Youtube vid that broke this scene down and discussed it rather well. He pointed out that the last saying about “Killing Myself” may actually mean the future version is talking about himself, and not the present time version of the Asura PC.

It was a good theory, and at the end of the day pointed to Shodd and the Asura PC coming through the rift to show Shodd what his potential is and to keep him working on the Infinity Ball.

He also broke down the Steam Creatures and where they are mostly found in Tyria. Mainly around the Thaumanova Reactor and also one other area in Blazeridge Steppes. Both are effected by the Thaumanova Reactor explosion and the subsequent portals it has created and sending confused monsters to those areas. The Steam Creatures being one of those monsters and the possibility that the portals are crossing time.

I love this theory and behind the scenes stuff.

So while doing the instance of Queens Speech yesterday I decided to take a minute and smell the roses. I really wanted to look around the area as I had a funny feeling something was wrong in the air.

While take a look around and talking to Rox and Braham I came across a little Golem friend known as Hobo-Tron. For those who don’t know, this little guy has traveled all the way from Southsun Cove.

Anyways, you can come across Hobo-Tron and Marcello DiGiacomo for a little interaction between the two. The best part is, during the invasion of the Pavilion, you can head back over to them and watch as they get surrounded by Aetherblade Thugs and then kidnapped!!!!!!

Yes, that is right! Not only is Lord Faren in trouble, but Hobo-Tron and Marcello have been taken as well!

I loved coming across this little scene while playing the instance. Well done ANET.

I’m really enjoying this event. It’s like the Crown Pavilion was a training event for large scale battles Serious too.

I was able to do 3 of these last night. I was going to attempt 4 but the morning comes quick. I loved the rewards, I loved seeing the large mass of people, I loved the enemies (although they are like Metal Karkas with guns), and I loved killing Scarlet.

Seriously love this game. 1 year after launch and I’m having a blast still. This game has kept evolving and growing and the best part, for free.

Keep up the good work ANET!

Also, spread out. The more events you take down, the faster it gets done. The more people grouped together makes the event scale higher which adds more HP to enemies which takes more time to kill.

The further you spread out and take down the invasion events, the faster you get to Scarlet and the rewards.

The forum filter makes this statement very funny indeed.

1. I believe this WP in the map is intentional. If you don’t get a rez at the arena, WP down. Did you notice there is a Trait vendor there? They want people to analyze their builds and adjust accordingly. So basically, WP down, re-trait and re-build, then run back up and try again. That’s the angle they were going for, at least IMO.

2. Seriously.. candidate trials.. Just skip it if it’s too hard. You didn’t need to do it.

3. They did tell us. If you read the very first release page for that content it cleary said the WP was for 4 weeks and the discount on BL Keys was for 4 weeks.

4. I have full time job, 2 kids, and a life. I’ve been very successful in doing the LS content. It’s even better now that they made it so you don’t need ALL of the achievements for that content to get the reward.

However, on the same subject, why does Lion’s Arch’s map still show a bridge by the lighthouse where there is no longer a bridge? The world may never know…

My Mini Map looks the same. The Pavilion is there.

However, on the same subject, why does the Southsun Cove map show NO Bridge in the southwest corner (connecting the WP there to the larger island) but after the last LS there, that bridge is now complete. The world keeps getting stranger and stranger..

Arenanet writers can only kill off important human characters.

Any important charcters that died in the LS? Only the Ascalonian Theo Ashford.

Important NPC’s died among the Asura, Sylvari, Charr, and Norn throughout the personal story for all races.

And I’m still talking about the living story not the personal… why is it so hard to understand guys?

Whom are the important LS characters though? Braham and Rox? Kiel and Evon? Those are about the only ones I can think of unless you’re talking about the Nobles that are basically dull and pointless. Everyone else is Personal Story related and they couldn’t kill any of those people off. If they killed Queen Jennah.. they’d have to re do the entire personal story for the humans.

You know what the best part about permanent Halloween is? A year round Halloween festival!!!!!!! YES!

This is a cool idea though. It would be awesome to see the Living Story build to an epic type battle that determines if the Mad King is released or not.

As for Rox’s, she’s unusually superstitious for a charr (or anyone else, really). A lot of soldiers are superstitious, but Rox was ahead of the curve before she survived the accident that killed her warband. Since she survived on almost pure luck (she was out of the mine when the disaster happened), she’s become even moreso.

I saw that cutscene. Destiny’s Edge was on a, uh…um…skyship to Cantha and Logan Thackeray had a dream that it was going to crash and kill everyone. They got off the, um, skyship and as they were freaking out inside the lob..er…at the waypoint, the skyship crashed…killing Rox’s old warband and all else onboard.

And then Death followed the survivors and picked them off one by one in order of the way they would have died on the pla….er.. skyship.

Is there a spot that keeps these short stories together? I know there was another story for Rox to go over her background. I think there was one for Braham as well?

I love this update, I’ve said it a few times already. You know how I know this? Well because while I sit here at work, all I’m thinking about is getting home and jumping into the Crown Pavilion for some fun. I didn’t care to run home to go the Bazaar and I sure didn’t run home to do the Aetherblade dungeon or Dragon Bash. I do recall wanting to run the Frost and Flame dungeon a lot.

Gah! Time needs to speed up so I can be home playing. I can’t wait to find out what will be entering the mix on 8/20.

I haven’t even tried the Guantlet yet.. Once I do though, there is no way it will make me rage quit. If anything, I’ll just not do it. The same thing I did on the stupidly difficult Aetherblade dungeon.

Time to upgrade your PC? Those FPS are bad man.. I’m playing on a $400 HP lap top I bought 2 years ago and get better FPS than that.

The Queens Guantlet as it is, is an enticing concept that has many people playing it. If they had instead done PvP 1v1 arenas up there they would have been putting those in to appease just 1 part of the community. Everyone can have fun 1v1 challenging bosses. Not so much if you made it PVP 1v1’s.

Not bored so much as sensitive. There are some out there that have been so conditioned to associate certain things with sexism, that they start to see it in many things.

This kind of pattern building is natural to humans. Think of people who believe in UFO’s. They see something that convinces them that UFO’s exist, and then more things start to become confirmation of that. That confirmation, feeds back and makes them more susceptible to more confirmation.

The problem is that it takes a lot of effort to not fall for confirmation bias. It’s much easier for people to see feminine robots and conclude sexism, than it is to use context, reason, and logic to determine whether this is in fact the case.

I don’t blame anyone for that, but I do wish that we were able to have a decent debate on the topic without throwing around loaded buzzwords, and accusations.

Is there any problem in questioning the design of characters in a video game? No, of course not. The trick is to try to remain objective.

I didn’t even bother to read most of this thread to even figure out what point was trying to be made.

I’m all for intellectual discussions about things but at the same time don’t feel that this particular item is even worth that.

I personally play games to have fun and be entertained. These Watchknights could be males with robot kittens for all I care.

No problem. I actually really love having my AOE loot as F. It helps a lot while in large group combat. This way I can dodge, roll, attack, run around all at the same time and then periodically tap F to gather all the loots.

The Opening Ceremony instance was fun and entertaining. It was a great way to get a jump into this Living Story.

The part that I’m loving the most so far, the Crown Pavilion. HOLY LOOT!!!! I spent a few hours with a couple different characters down there yesterday. Exotics were dropping, rares were dropping, gold was being had, achievements were popping left and right. So much fun. My guild (LUST) was enjoying it as well. Guild chat was full of people enjoying this content.

I’ve yet to even try the Queens Gauntlet yet, but I can’t wait to.

I know these forums can be filled with negativity and bug reporting and some of that is merited and needed. I just wanted to show a little love for this new content as I know I’m enjoying it and I see that others are as well.

I’d also like to add that Account Wallet is FAN FREAKING TASTIC!

I changed F to AOE loot when that came out. So I no longer use it for my action button. It actually helps out a lot.
