Failure to stop the Marionette before the power meter associated with it is filled results in a massive cannon going off and every single player within Lornar’s Pass being killed. Even those possibly on the other side of the map.

Glad GW2 has players who are so great at building a game community.

There are a lot of selfish players that think they are entitled to help and free stuff all the time.

Last week I was on TC doing golem, and at 75% a bunch of them died beneath him. They were still there at 50%. I called them out that the waypoint was a minute away and just to use it, as no one is going to risk themselves to rez you.

Maybe I’m selfish, or maybe they are.

Anyway, they updated their Facebook page saying that the patch will be rolled out “in a few short hours”. This was posted 2 hours ago.

The servers are in Seattle if I’m not mistaken. Server Time is used as a general basis for things in game. Like daily reset is 4pm server time. You adjust for your specific time zone of course.

In fairness.. you don’t have to just stand there and wait. You can map complete or find some champs to farm to make it worth the time.

I do both of those while waiting on Teq.

I jump on the trains occasionally for T6 Mats, a chance at a good exotic drop or even the coveted Ascended Drop. I also can’t spend much more than 45 minutes there or so before I get bored.

I think Marjory is loosely tied to Logan. I may be wrong in this though.

No. All recipes are character bound. Learning a recipe on one character won’t unlock it on any other character. This was and has always been the case.

No way is that true. I play 5 toons and know for a fact I’ll buy a recipe on one toon, use it, and then go to another toon and it won’t let you consume it. It will say in red bold that I already know that recipe.

I opened 2,5k of them to finally get Wings of Dwayna recipe. In the excitement, I learned it on character that has tailoring on lvl 23. I intended to learn it on other character with tailoring 430. I’m kinda angry right now, because I spent much money on getting it and now I have to level another tailor and spend more money. Arrrghh. I basically ragequit the game.
If recipes are account bound, learned version of them should be too. It was just like a misclick.

I thought once you used a recipe all your characters can use it? I know when the game launched that wasn’t the case, but they changed that.

Please every server has enough people to do teq they just don’t have enough people that want to do him. There is a difference.

Overflow system allows everyone to have access to a full sever for a teq kill

To what people don’t know teq is not hard to kill his mechanisms are now well know and there is a proven strategy to kill him.

If you don’t have enough in your guild get 5 guilds together and get him done.

TTS is the culmination of over 1k guilds every member is probly from a different guild who all truely want to kill him so if you arn’t even going to try to gather a zerg or put effort to get him >.> well don’t expect the same level or % of success. TTS kills him 4+ times a day usually

Not to mention in game events section of forum servers list days they are going to try to kill teq. Blackgate probably hates me for saying this but it is a guaranteed full Overflow of people trying to do teq. Just cause you got a full map though doesn’t mean you can do him simply because randoms don’t listen to commander and go afk on turrets this will always be an issue without a completely controlled of. Teq is currently being killed only using 50% of the time given. He isn’t a boss you can just join to do there is a difference between being skilled as a player. being skilled as a squad. And being skilled as a Zerg.

And bosses should require diffident skill sets at these levels/currently they are all the same stack and kill. Teq is the first introduction to some variety.

Every server has the capability they just don’t have the motivation which is something you got to fix your self. Every server has a different distribution of players and you chose the server you play in so that needs to be taken into consideration too. If you want rakings of best pve servers they kinda fallow wvw rankings to an extent if you in top 50% you probly have no problems but if you are in botten 50% you might find content hard to complete.

But there is absolutely no reason you cant make and ingame event and complete it on your server. I’m sure alot of people would guest to your server to get it done.

Well put right there. Every server has the man power to do it, it’s just the willingness of that manpower that counts.

When Teq first launched you had servers fighting to be #1. People were up in arms that there were Overflows and people guesting. Now that the strategy is out there though, the battle is only being fought by people who really want to fight it.

For example, I’m on Fort Aspenwood, a fairly high pop server. Are there people who do Teq daily though? Nope. I’ve shown up to many Teq battles where the area was dead and Teq just destroys the place. I joined TTS and it’s a whole new world. (don’t do it!) I completed Teq 4 times over the weekend with TTS and it was so fast and efficient it wasn’t even funny.

So.. long story short.. Get people to do these type of events and it’s not hard and can be fun. If people choose not to though, what is there to do?

I personally think it’s amazing that guilds devote themselves just to one boss encounter.

From what I understand of the lore, everyone can use magic. Magic is a very dominant source right now and is actually the cause for awakening the Elder Dragons. They feed of the magic in cycles. When the magic reaches it’s apex, the Elder Dragons awake, devour, and go back to sleep.

So with that in mind, the other professions have magic of their own to combat elementalists. I would agree though that it would seem Elementalists have the upper hand while using magic. Although I guess Mesmers and Necromancers would fight them for that upper hand.

The build up is there and most people don’t understand or see it? really? If that is true all that does is show bad game design and storytelling. What’s the point if nobody can see it. Even the writers agree the pacing wasn’t done correctly.

Secondly I agree that it is all about personal taste. But when the forums are full of threads about how much they dislike the LS and Scarlet then Anet would be complete idiots just to pass that off with “Oh well, that’s just their opinion”.

The number of people who log into the forums to post is miniscule compared to what log in and play the game. I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true.

So first you talk about most people that can’t understand it or see it – you must be talking about forum users only then which according to you is a miniscule amount.

Actually.. it didn’t make it moot. Let me clarify.

The forum bandits around here like to be super negative. Don’t believe me? Scroll through the forums. It’s one thing to be negative, it’s another to be constructive in criticism. Most people don’t understand the story, ie. the people who post here who say that exact statement.

In that same context though, only a small number of people who play the game actually log into the forums to post.

Sooooooo essentially it’s a small number of people who really have no idea what the story is or understand it. They are vocal though. That small group is large on the forums though and thus we see it nearly everywhere.

I personally come to the forums to get new insight on things or to see the opinions of new content. It’s disheartening that nearly every thread is just filled with trolling negativity. I’d much rather talk to people in game because those are the people who are generally enjoying it.

The only good quaggan is a dead quaggan.

Let me know where the wedding is so I can get my stew ingredients.

Someone made a complaint that the writers are paid to make good stories? Because every writer out there makes awesome stories. I mean Stephen King is a great write according to most, yet you’ll find many people who don’t like his writing at all.

People seem to forget (or ignore in order to “validate” their “arguments”) that we had more or less no details at all for the Queens Jubilee update, and yet it had rather much stuff when it was actually released.

But at least Queens Jubilee had a release page. This one still doesn’t, and most likely won’t get one till actual patch notes are released…

The release page for Queens Jubilee just said that Queen Jennah had a big announcement and that was it.

Of course we got the Scarlet mini dungeon in the Crown Pavilion as well as the Scarlet Invasions.

I’ve enjoyed the story personally.

So, the preview page never gives details in bug fixing or balancing adjustments. It’s always just been more of a roadmap to the new content that is coming and also would mention any new features added in like the LFG tool or Crafting to 500 or something along those lines.

From reading articles and Developer posts, we know that features won’t be coming. It doesn’t mean we won’t get bug fixes and balancing adjustments. Yes, we won’t get a huge balancing fix like we did in December.

I also believe they did this one other time. I can’t remember which update it was, but I believe the preview page didn’t go fully up until the live patch was released to the community. They do keep hinting that these two bosses are not the only things coming.

If you take out the immersion of the player or the fact that you, the player, are involved in the game, the stories generally aren’t that great. It’s just the fact that you are more personally involved in that game that you think the stories are better than they are.

For instance, Super Mario. That story isn’t great by any means. Princess is kidnapped and Mario rescues her. Because you, the player, are Mario though, you feel a sense of achievement at the end of the game and are rewarded by rescuing her. He feel that the story was good. That’s out on a limb, I know, but it’s just an example.

Hold on there. Different issue entirely. Yes, most videogame’s stories are bad. No, being “immersed” in it doesn’t make them any better if they’re bad to begin with. Super Mario’s story is crap. That’s why nobody played Mario for the story. People played Super Mario because of the gameplay. Not to mention that Super Mario is a game “from a different age”, back from when games were made by 1-3 people. In fact it hasn’t been that long since most games did not have dedicated writers (which isn’t to say some of them didn’t end up having good stories).

Which isn’t to say games have brilliant stories these days… Some do. Most don’t. This does not in any way exculpate the poor writing or invalidate the fact that the writing was/is bad.

I recently wrote about how GW2 did, and continues to do, a lot of things right. If it didn’t I wouldn’t be playing it. Not once did I mention the story or story telling. That’s one thing they really could improve on…

I’ll use a different example of immersion as Super Mario was a crap one haha. Oh and BTW, I don’t think you hate the game and certainly don’t direct my post towards only you. It’s more of a general post to the group of people who don’t like the story or hate upon it.

So my other example is Silent Hill. It’s arguably a great game by some opinions. The story for the first game is pretty straight forward..

Silent Hill follows Harry Mason as he searches for his missing adopted daughter in the mysterious town of Silent Hill. Stumbling upon a cult conducting a ritual to revive a deity it worships, Harry discovers his daughter’s true origin. Multiple game endings are possible, depending on in-game actions taken by the player.

Nothing extraordinary but it’s the immersion of the game, the atmosphere, and the game play that makes it better than it’s story.

GW and other MMO’s hang their hat on Lore and Depth though. Slowly ANET is giving us more and more depth and background information on Scarlet. To some it’s not enough and can be a valid argument.

Scarlet killed her former Asuran mentor so I wouldn’t think it will be that route. Perhaps it’s an Inquest member who had knowledge of Scarlet. Or perhaps there is no connection with Scarlet at all aside from the fact that she’s been causing havoc and chaos across Tyria over the last 15 months.

Ignoring the hate and vile.. sigh. . Wish these forums could be a little more positive..

As someone who didn’t play GW1 but have been doing research on the lore, from what I’ve gathered the Mursaat chickened out and really didn’t help fight the dragons. They found a way to escape and go to an inbetween Tryia and left the other races to fend for themselves against the Dragons.

Also from what I can gather, the Mursaat where then mostly killed and Lazarus was a lone survivor who was able to escape. I could see Lazarus making a return possibly, but most likely as the last of his/its kind.

I heard an interesting point yesterday on video game stories. It was made by a director who made the movie The Kings Of Summer. I enjoyed the movie a lot and the director is a fairly cool guy. Anyways, during the podcast I was listening to he made mention that he may be working on a video game movie soon. They went into a long discussion about good ones to make into a movie and the point of story plot came about.

As for Colin’s comments in the interview, I think that was a direct result in the Living Story CDI that took place. Most of the complaints on that was about the story and feature updates coming at the same time and no chance to enjoy the individually or what they should look forward to every patch. Was it Features? Was it Story? Was it both? That is the confusion. Another giant qualm was the 2 week fast paced story and no room to breath on the releases. That is why the last few Nightmare Tree story updates were a little longer and also why they took a break so they could polish the whole thing up.

These are, of course, just my opinions though. I respect yours as I hope you respect mine.
