I’m not too good at using zerker amulet, however, you can just use Valk or cavalier, with intelligence sigil and it hits like a mac truck still.
I’ve tried with Runes of Infiltration, sigil of battle and intelligence, BiP and SoS, hit 5.5 with out tainted shackles, but with DS2.
Wow lol shows how much I know. I still think cc and the 4s is enough for me then again I have my own guildy calling me an idiot for using wall and walk. As far as wop you might be right on the highest end but even playing with guildies its impossible getting them to sit on a well. Hell even I hate sitting still.
The casting necro doesn’t have to sit in the well, for its effect.
Stunbreakers… Use them kittenmit !
You guys can’t realy continue to use that argument – I’m not pointing in one way or the other, however if you’re really going to use that argument, then Necros should be able to have longer duration fear as well. Why? Well they can just use stunbreakers.
That I don’t even play anymore.
I was lucky and finally got a job, so I haven’t had much time to play Guild Wars 2. I did log into my necro for 5 minutes a week or two ago, went into WvW as I usually do. I met a thief and thought I’ll kill the kitten. Well he used the grapple hook to pull me in, then one his minions pulled me in and seconds later I was dead. I couldn’t do much and logged out in frustration.
I know, I know, “you can just dodge” or w/e people tell themselves to believe things are balanced. But I couldn’t and didn’t have a chance.
However, my shiny bright light at the end of the tunnel, the December 10 patch, was just around the corner! There was a chance, that the Necro could come back!!
What did we get? A fat load of nothing, and a crappy heal signet.
I shan’t be coming back the game, I can’t in all honesty keep playing a game, where the devs simply have no clue how to balance.
And that diamond skin video, just made me cry!
“Cya”, “Go on”, “bye” and the good one “can I haz ur stuff” – No you can’t, and I know I won’t be missed
I wish all you necro’s the best of luck. You’re going to need it.
What build do you use?
It actually works perfectly fine. Press buttons at the same time = win.
Is it annoying you can’t do it mid-stomp? Sure. But I’ll take what I can get
but if there’s no ICD suddenly to weakening shroud, near to death becomes quite good, 2s base weakness every 6 seconds isn’t too bad imo.
Regarding rampagers, I wouldn’t recomment it, you need toughness imo
Though if you trait warhorn, #5 won’t proc during the last few 2-3 seconda.
After having run this for quite a while, my suspicion of what would be its weakness, was confirmed
I met Ascii today on the field of battle, and boy oh boy did he rip me a new one. Several times
So against a good necromancer player, who can send back conditions, this build has a hard time.
Since then I have chosen to run plague signet instead of well of power, namely to be able to do the same
Also commented on your vid, I’m on Blackgate and would love to duel you
let me know!
I am on most evening prime time so sure. Shoot me a message.
Nice, I’ll keep my eye out for ya

They are insanely OP on other classes, the argument that it would make us OP is just moot! I don’t give a flying monkey’s kitten whether or not it’s OP, the gameplay rules should be the same across the board. The game should NOT be balanced around a frickin runeset, it should be balanced around the classes and skills.
It makes absolutely no sense for fear not to be counted as an interrupt. Actually, if you look up interrupt on the GW2 wiki, fear is listed as an interrupt and as the other guy mentioned it is a bug, however I wouldn’t hold my breath on it being “fixed”.
I posted a 30/10/0/0/30 build some time ago, but in the end it didn’t quite hold up to the various challenges in a roaming environment, so I’ve opted to change my build, and share it with you all.
I’ve tried many builds and couldn’t settle for one, because if one build was good at taking down X opponent, I would have a hard time dealing with Y. I did however, find that there are some traits that help a lot against all classes, and those are the ones I couldn’t find myself letting go off.
My current build is 10/30/0/0/30 - not with 50% crit chance, as many roll, but with foot in the grave! Why, you ask perhaps? I met a really good hammer warrior and got completely Rick rolled, I changed my build to have foot in the grave and every duel we had from that point, I won. So, that’s a trait I found to be more valuable than I had expected.
Firstly – This is a hybrid build, I run both condi dmg and power/crit %/dmg
Secondly, weapons – Scepter/warhorn – Staff
Why not axe? Scepter AA is a lot more powerful than Axe, critting upwards of 1k on each auto attack, and putting out bleeds/poison. A low CD long lasting cripple and 3 bleeds 240 aoe and a powerful fast cast DD that does upwards of 3k dmg and giving a lot of LF. Axe2 compared to Scepter3 does more dmg, but is channeled, in which time Scepter can keep autoing instead.
Why warhorn? I love the traited weapon! A 3 second daze, but more importantly, warhorn5 is extremly powerful, 210 range damaging, gaining lifeforce and crippling. I put out 5 seconds of cripple every time it procs, and it procs every 1 (right?) second! This makes up for a good ambush, run in do some dmg and if the battle is about to be lost, run out and they’ll still have 25 seconds of cripple on em
Additionally, with just one person hit, I gain 2% LF and since I have Vital persistence I loose only 2% LF per second, which means, effectively I don’t loose LF when WH5 is up (as long as I hit someone).
This weapon is also extremely good against thieves as the constant cripple really hurts them.
Staff The builder is out of date and I use torment rune on my staff, I want to give out as many damaging conditions as possible as fast as possible.
Alright, that covered the weapons, and to assist the tools my weapons bring, I use Consume conditions, SoS, BiP and Well of Power. I gain 3 might stacks from using SoS, 10 from BiP and vigor from using well of power (if it converts the bleed from BiP). I also gain 2% dmg from each condition on the foe, meaning I get upwards of 3k life blasts.
I use the golem as it is just cool, knockdown is a good tool to have to do a CC combo.
If, however, I see lots of people coming I will quickly switch to Snow Leopard and quickly dash away :P
Armor is rabid gear with traveler’s runes, cavalier amulet, zerker rings and rabid accessories, ruby jewels. Scepter/WH – zerker, staff – rabid. So I’ve got an offensive set and a condi set.
Spite IV – Reduced CD of SoS and might stacks
Curses IV, VIII, and IX – Weakening shroud, WH trait and terror
Soul Reaping II, VIII, XI – Reduced LF drain, DS CD reduce making it only 6 secs, and 3+ seconds of stability every 6 seconds.
All in all, this is an awesome build, it puts out tremendous DD as well as condition dmg, and with the might stacks everything just hits harder. Letting go of 20 in spite made it easier to switch from axe to scepter, and scepter does hit quite hard. Anyways just thought I’d share what I’m running and to join the crowd not using Dhuumfire
I’m using it, if nothing else, just to get another condition put out on people. And the fact that it’s aoe is a nice addition.
The necromancer warhorn #5 is bugged, at least if you have warhorn traited.
Locust Swarm does not proc during the last 2 seconds of its duration.
Just tested it multiple times, with the trait, it lasts for approx 14 seconds, and once there’s 2 seconds left, it does not proc dmg or cripple.
@Isende
Many class can maintain permanent or near permanent vigor, whereas necromancers can get only 9 seconds of it on a 50 second cooldown, using two utilities slots. (Blood is Power and Well of Power)
Thanks for this! I actually didn’t realize that bleed is converted to vigor! Let alone a 9 second vigor not depending on the duration bleedstack. I was already carrying blood is power and well of power, and it has actually helped me quite a bit to have access to vigor. If I know I’m dueling a class that doesn’t have all that much condi, I can access vigor instead, in this case I don’t feel like I have wasted a slot on well of power
Thanks for the info!
It does have an ICD with itself though, so you cannot use two for double the proc rate.
Would be awesome if you could double proc
What the heck you talking bout (those who don’t appreciate the racials) the snow leopard is the best elite ever! I’ve gotten out of sticky situations in wvw more times than I can count, I won’t go out without it!
Conclusion for this thread:
60 Skill Points – Gain Stealth a few secs.
I’m sure that’s what all of you imagine when you read about shapeshifting norns… gaining stealth for a few secs to run away. Impressive…
Same argument used over an over…
4 elite skills… 3 of 10 points, 1 of 30.
Only use so far: newbie “oh crap button”. Until they learn to use something better.
There are no other oh crap buttons for a necro, ergo the snow leopard is awesome.
Necro is the last class to need an oh crap button… F1, spectral break stun, protection, fear, dazes, chill… must I say that the last 3 comes as AOE?
besides,… it is still totally un-justified… 30 skill points for a few seconds of stealth? just to save your kitten running away from combat? do you know how many thousands proud norns are revolving in their graves just because you do that?
They DO need an oh-crap button… if 5 people are coming your way, you can’t get away, and no amount of DS and spectrals are going to save you.
It has saved me so many times it is just good, and if that makes 1000 dead norn cry like babies, including you, well that’s just a side bonus :P
it depends on how you prefer to play and game mode
for me,
Dungeons: 30/10/0/0/30 Full zerkerwhy not 30/25/0/0/15?
Since its zerker build why should i go through curses line?!
dagger dps>life blast dps (well… sort of)
curses for damage modification from condis on target (theres also banshees wail, reapers precision and enfeebling shroud) and base crit rate
deathly perception (considering with zerker you should be at ~50% crit rate) wastes group fury, banners and spotter
axe/dagger with sigil of earth and sigil of torment (shh its new don’t let on to it)
staff (also torment)all sigil ICDs are shared… if your earth triggers then torment wont until sigil of earth is off CD
Torment is currently off of sigil ICD.

That’s just it, it was there during character creation and thought it might be due to the background, so I kept going. And it is still there during actual gameplay!
Hmm.
There are some skin colors which have secondary green tints to them. I know my Sylvari is one of the yellow colors, but she still has quite a bit of green as well. Know some of the reds have green secondary tints to them as well. Didn’t think any of the black shades had it, but I could be wrong. Which skin color did you choose?
That might be it, perhaps. I know you can choose a primary color and a secondary, but if there’s an inbuilt tint to some of the colors that might be what is affecting it?
I picked a black skin with grey secondary (or was it grey and grey?) Dark colors anyhow.
But the weird thing is, when I chose the exact same options for a mesmer or engineer, the green tint wasn’t there.

Jon, now that you’ve just been around, Siphoned Power, is there a plan to change this minor trait, for a 25 pointer it is just so bad. At 25% hp I am not more thrilled to get 35 power and condition dmg. Shouldn’t this be a flat 5% dmg increase or something in that line, to be more in line with other traits?
Gonna post it here as well:
I created a necromancer because they can look quite evil, but it irritates me that the hair and face has a slight green tint to it.
The colors chosen do not have green tint to em, I’ve chosen black as hair color, black as skin color with grey(or something similar to grey) as skin tint, and for the love of me I can’t figure out, where the green is coming from. The glow is white, so no green is chosen.
I tried the exact same options for a mesmer and engy, and they don’t get the same tint..
Anyone experience this? Anyone know how to get rid of it?
I changed it to white, is why it didn’t make sense.

Having runes of traveling, makes this trait obsolete. The runes apply even in DS, which also makes signet of the locust obsolete, imo. So this trait should definately do something else, than 25% move speed.
I can’t get into the whole power spec, I always seem to just die against thieves, since I can never keep them targeted long enough to get off axe2.
On the other hand condi works just fine in roaming, but to me it’s getting boring. So I’ve begun to move over to hybrid specs, I want to do dmg with everything I do, though it might not be as much dmg as pure specs, however if an attack fails there’s always the other side of the coin that will hit.
I use a/wh and staff with rabid armor/traveler’s runes, zerker rings, rabid everything rlse with ruby jewels.
I only solo roam, but do sometimes join in on zergs if taking something big. I do good dd but still have good condi dmg.
Build: Power/Condi Hybrid, 20/30/20///
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNBmODbkRLdPczYjePBIp46nhUsbtRPOe5gB-jkCB4iA4MRmABOFqIasVOFRjVVDWbDTXKpKYAaYQCBsYNA-w
Situation: WvW, opener
Rotation: Blood is Power>Signet of Spite>Golem Charge>Axe2/WH5>DS2>DS3>DS5>Staff2,3,5,4>WH4>Axe2
Desired effect: Overload them with conditions and buff yourself(10stack of might + 2% dmg per condition), force them to eat conditions through golem, warhorn and chain fear, land as much of axe2 as possible as often as safely possible.
Alternatively roll with corrupt boon instead of BiP against certain classes for the extra counter.
Been trying this out today, it’s awesome. I’ve altered the armor a bit and have travelers runes instead, but the build is really good.
BiP gives me might for 16.5 seconds, and warhorn5 gives me speed for 20 secs. It’s very tanky and does great dmg!
I agree, it should be like that.
We are changing the tooltip to clear up the confusion for this skill. It is a 3 condition transfer from self to foes when they trigger it. None of the other issues are bugs.
Hope this clears things up. This skill has undergone major balance renovations.
It will no longer cleanse teammates and it will always give a full cooldown when interrupted because its one of the best skills in the game.
So skills that are good will go on full CD when interrupted, but skills that are bad won’t? That’s just not good logic.
I like to think these nerfs are building up to something better down the line.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ROFLMAO!!! XD
Oh, you were serious…?
That’s what I was thinking when the game released. Then they gave us the god mode patch, and have since beaten us repeatedly with the nerf bat.
Encountered a thief today, he zipped across the map so I never knew where he was. Backstabbing me for 5k and so on,you know the drill, needless to say, I lost.
Met an engineer, within 3 seconds I had 15 confusion stacks on me, and was knocked around like a pinball. Those confusion stacks, were on top of all the other condis an engy can throw out ofc.
I also met an elementalist, within 2 seconds I had lost 10k hp, he did insane dmg.
I went back to the necro cause I missed it, but from that patch review, I don’t think they even know what they want with the necromancer.
This may be the reason why I’ll go back to my mesmer, it rox, can do dmg, disengange and do all the things I want the necromancer to be able to do. Alas, I had hoped for a better future for my deathly friend ..
Sigil of torment seems to be off of ICD with other sigils.
I have just tested it along with fire, both would proc within a necromancer axe2 channel.
Likewise I tested it with sigil og battle, immediately after torment procced, I would switch and I would still get my 3 stacks of might.
I would gladly use the sigil to get double on crit sigils working, however of it’s a bug it’ll just be fixed very soon anyways. So can we get clarification if the sigil is supposed to work like this?
Easy escape? RAWR snow leopard stealth and dash
Just “tested” it and it does seem as if torment sigil isn’t on a shared CD. I tested with fire and torment, both could proc within an axe2 channel. Although it does seem as if torment has a lower chance to proc, as some have noted.
I also tested it with battle. Right after torment procced I would swith weapons and still get my 3 stacks of might.
Now I’m wondering if this is even meant to be like this, or if it’s an unintended bug.
The Sigil of Torment actually does not share a cooldown with Sigil of Blood or with On Swap Sigils, which could make it an interesting choice to combo.
Are you 100% sure of this?
In the video, Ali mentions a blink burst, what is it? And how do you pull it off?
I had to try out the sigil, it does something like 126 or so dmg when enemy is moving, and fire sigils procs for anywhere between 600-1k so all in all it’s not too bad a difference. The thing I like is that it’s an aoe, with about 200 range. With decent crit chance you can maintain 2 stacks at any given time, so it amounts to quite some dmg, and again when fighting more than 1, it’s awesome
And Sylpheed is correct in that it’s good to have another condi… the more the better! Makes it easier to get in some dmg
It heals for under 4K with a 30 sec cd. I’d be glad if people use it against me
Oh dang I shouldn’t have forgotten to mention that!
Yes this is for wvw solo roaming
Just wondering, which weapons do you use in your hybrid specs?
I can’t decide
I like axe for it’s damage on #2 and aoe cripple, but scepter has a great damage ability as well and also an ar cripple plus bleed. And AA is better on scepter. Staff seems like a weapon I want to do without, but can’t seem to let go.
For off hands I really only like dagger and focus. But then again, I can’t decide between those either.
So for inspiration, I am asking you folks, what do you run on your hybrid specs?
All day long I’ve been fighting warriors, sure I don’t know their spec, but they all had hammers and regen signet
and I didn’t lose 1v1 all day. And I’m specced hybrid, so I also do quite good DD on top of my condis.
condition against a warrior ? most useless thing you can do
warriors can remove conditions 24/7 and that also heals them and buffs them.
Well that’s just not true, I pump wars full of condis and they go down. I only go down if I’m out of CD’s and a hammer warrior surprises me with no DS. I don’t really die to wars since they’re really predictable and easy to kite.

My little Necromancer, Ztiff.
Wow nice look, there’s an evilness to this little one
don’t forget to remove Siphoned Power as well!
