I’ll guarantee you that the dmg should be higher.
Do you have zero condition dmg gear on? That may do it, since afaik the dmg relies on condition dmg.
Regardless I do 2 times 8xx dmg with it, and am not even fully exotic geared so I’m quite happy with it.

I just tried terror trait, but maybe i just dont know how it works….but seems really crappy, tested on a light golem and Doom did 74 dmg on it <.<
I wonder why someone should waste a major trait like that, anyone can enlighten me ?

Watch the dmg that comes up after about 1 second.. it’s much higher, I tick for 8xx dmg.
Try putting one bleed on a target and then fear, you should be able to see the larger dmg.

The age-old question!

How do you guys beat mesmers?
I’ve got a build with lots of ae, and indeed also a lot of automatic ae, ie. bleed on weapon swap, enfeebling blood on DS, and mark on dodge. But I can’t seem to beat good mesmers. In reality I am beginning to come to terms with the fact that you can’t beat every class with any one given spec, but I’d like to know if there are things I can do to improve upon.
My spec is 10/20/10/10/20 for terror dmg and +50% duration. This is actually an offshoot of Sheobix’s feralmancer build, changed for my taste. I run staff/scepter/dagger.
I’ve got a few ptv armor pieces so far, and rest are rampager armor/weapons/jewels.

But even with my ae bleeds and marks, I just can’t seem to down the really good mesmers. In fact I met one in wv3 today that still had like 90% life after he downed me :S
So, any suggestions? And did I leave any important information out when asking this age-old question?

Another post did mention nightmare runes as being bugged, giving a total of 20% duration, they also mention another rune set with same error, but can’t remember the name

So what you’re saying is, 90% cduration will get the 2 ticks? I’m slow and want it spelled out for me hehe :-)

Dietzen.6127

How could you not get the 2nd tick with 90 or 98% increase? Since I’ve gotten it with only 60 % and above poster with only 50%?

I am refering to when there are no bleeding/poison/burning conditions on the target. As was explained in the above postings, if the target is bleeding and you fear the target right before that bleed ticks, you could get 2 damage ticks from terror even with just 20% increased duration on fear, because it would tick its damage almost immediately, then again in 1 second. Alternatively, if you cast the fear just after a bleed tick goes off, you would need close to 100% duration to get the second tick in that cirumstance.

The point I was trying to make was that condition duration is all additive, and there is no multiplication factor anywhere, except after all the duration increases are summed times the original duration. I am fully aware that people can get two terror ticks without investing 100% duration into fear, while the mob has a damaging condition on it.

I challenge anyone to find me a way to get an extra damage tick from barbed precision without 100% duration. I would be eternally greatful if you could.

Ahh okay I see now :-)

you don’t need to have a summed 100% value as the individual condition and fear duration increases stack multiplicatively. You can see this by examining the tool tip before adding points to spite and then examining the tooltip after. You’ll see the increased duration on Fear. Any further duration increases from tactics, runes, etc., are then based off of the new tool tip value from the points placed into Spite.

To get the 2nd terror tick merely requires a full 2 sec of duration and with 30 pts in Spite 5(30%), Nightmare runes (10%), and increased Fear trait (+50%) is enough to accomplish this (sum total of 90% condition duration increase).

For however you want to build around terror just keep in mind that trait increases are factored first (in this case the points placed in spite), then everything else.

The above isn’t correct, and it does not work that way in the game. Yes, the tooltip updates to reflect points you place in spite and food, while it will continue to ignore other traits that effect specific conditions (hemo/master of fear) and runes in its displayed value.

For instance BIP (a long bleed easy to see the effects on).

Base bleed = 30 seconds (tool tip)
Add 30 points in spite = 39 seconds (tooltip changes) (30% increase from base)
Add 40% duration food = 51 seconds (tooltip changes) (70% increase from base)
Add Hemophilia = 51 seconds (No tooltip change) (Actual duration of 57ish seconds) (90% increase from base)
Add Mad king rune 2X bonus = 51 seconds (No tooltip change) (Actual duration of 60 seconds) (100% increase from base).

Lets test fear now – keeping in mind that tooltip is only going to show in increments of 0.25:

Base fear on DS2 = 1 second (tooltip)
Add 30 points in spite = 1.25 seconds (tooltip changes) (25% increase from base)
Add 50% fear trait = 1.25 (No tooltip change) (actual duration best guess should be 80% increase from base or 1.8 seconds – nearly impossible to tell in game)
Add Mad King rune X2 = 1.25 (No tooltip change) (actual duration best guess at 90% increase from base or 1.9 seconds)

Since the fear durations are all within the realm of 0.1 seconds, actually verifying the difference between 1.8 and 1.9 is practically impossible. To test that we go with the terror trait and take cases where the bleed does not proc of barbed precision, as that changes the way the damage is calculated.

Using the above fear setup, I am at 90% increased duration additively and I only get one damage tick from fear. That would seem to suggest that again, all traits/runes stack additively.

I am willing to admit I made a mistake somewhere if you point it out, but that looks pretty additive all around to me.

For fun, I went ahead and got cheese pizza, which adds 8% duration and tried out both above tests at 98% duration (with all increases being added) and no second damage tick from fear or barbed precision. Which means both fear and bleed durations were at 98% increased, on a 1 second base, and failed to damage the last tick, which would require a full 2 second duration.

EDIT: The discussion on terror damage was above lol….

How could you not get the 2nd tick with 90 or 98% increase? Since I’ve gotten it with only 60 % and above poster with only 50%?

Hey guys,

I’ve been scouring through the forum but can’t seem to find a simple and direct answer, so in all its simplicity, how do you get the second tick?

Now, the reason for asking is, sometimes I get the tick, sometimes I don’t.
I have 10/20/10/10/20 (don’t ask, I’m trying stuff out) and in between those, I’ve picked the terror trait and the 50% longer duration. Insofar as I am not mistaken, the spite line increases the duration by whichever you have invested? So in my case a total of +60% fear duration, if not then it’s simply 50% duration.
Again, sometimes I get the tick, sometimes I don’t. I’ve heard some people say they have a higher chance of getting a second tick with more stacks of conditions, so does this indeed have any bearing?
I’m asking because I want to know if I have to invest in additional +duration items, or runes.

In advance thank you.

I’m slightly confused, and I might be a bit slow, but this seems rather like a somewhat conventional condition build? With terror in the mix. With only 10 pts in the power line, does this build do much physical dmg? Does the P/T/V gear make up for the loss in power from the 30 pts in spite that power builds have?

In comparison to your juggermancer build, how do you see this fairing? Better or worse, in a wv3 scenario? (Ps. sorry if this has been asked previously, it might have skipped my attention)

I don’t suppose you’d mind posting your build? I’m curious as to how effective a lifesteal build can be in WvW.

Here’s what I run around with. My Build

I honestly cant say if the lifesteals are helping me a lot due to having a lot of green numbers showing up and I cant tell which is which. My reason to using lifesteal traits is just me who got used to Warrior’s passive regen. I survive decently enough in the middle of an enemy zerg just managing conditions and Death shroud. I deal solid 1k-3k damage on deathshroud depending on opponent and lifeforce left.

In anycase, if you have more questions. I guess we could discuss this via PM as we might de-rail the thread.

Bad link, could you post again, would also rly like to see it

Ok, so we know the necromancer pet AI is about the same as a peanut, however the flesh golem, as an elite slot skill, is downright boneheaded. I was just in Wv3, and I saw it just standing doing absolutely nothing. Why oh why is this pet not able to comprehend simple attacks?

I know regular pets are also magnificently stupid, but again as an elite slot, I kinda expected abit more, and to be frank, from the BWE’s it didn’t seem this stupid has it gotten even worse than it was?

Weapon Sigil bug

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Dietzen.6127

Dietzen.6127

I don’t know if this is intended or not, but here goes.

I have tried numerous sigil sets for my weapons, while I had 2x 2h weapons I chose to have sigil of hydromancy… I then switched to have hydromancy on my greatsword and on my focus, while on my 1h sword I chose to have sigil of air…

The problem here is, if the sigil of air on the 1h sword has just procced (with an internal CD of 5 sec) and I switch to my 2h greatsword with hydromancy this on-swap sigil does NOT proc. So whether or not this is intentional, on-proc sigils are preventing on-swap sigils from executing as long as they are on CD.

I’ve tried many things to counter this, unfortunately the only thing I’ve found to be only secure way of ensuring that my on-swap sigils always execute, is to not have any proc sigil with an internal CD.

So if this is a bug, which I would suppose it is, please fix it

Meditation build

Dietzen.6127

I’m just wondering, I’ve been running the famous meditation build that most people either run or have tried. I run two meditations and stand your ground, works really well.
My spec is 10/30/30/0/0 for optimal dmg. however I’ve been thinking if there might be a build that actually does more damage than what I am running?

I love the greatsword/1h Sword/focus. When I run in wvw I usually switch out the greatsword with scepter/torch to be able to immobilize.

I’ve been watching the forums, and youtube for inspiration, Aryaswag has come up with a great build that I’ve not yet tried but looks good. The downside is, zero points in radiance which means lower dps (at least in my little mind, since fewer crits).

I’ve considered a few things, fx to move points to 20/20/30/0/0 to get spirit weapons not being destroyed when commanded, but I’m really unsure if it will beef my dps.

I’m also having a very difficult time of letting go of the meditation line, well just look at it, 2 meditations healing me, one curing me of conditions and one teleporting me and burning in a small ae… it’s just awesome, AND the line gives 30% crit dmg… so yeah I love it. But again, would there be something that I’ve not thought of, that would actually beef my dps more?

So what I am asking is just for advice to beef my dps. Before anyone has the insatiable urge to say, guardians are for support, or “you picked guardian for dps?!?” or w/e, just drop it! I picked the guardian to do DPS yes! I picked it over warrior cause they are more fun and cause they can do more tricks than just bam bam bam. But I still wanna optimize my bam bam bam along with my tricky tricky.

So any advice on how/if the dps of the meditation build can actually be improved, or if the build is actually the maximum dps build guardians can put out? And if I could be so bold as to ask for explanations, as supposed to saying x/x/x/x/x does way more dmg! Explain why.

One thing, I have considered is the fact that I switch out GS sometimes, since activating whirl slows you a bit and people can just run away from you, having the spirit hammer or bane signet might improve dps, as you can put out a full whirl.

I’ve been testing the various sigils, perhaps like other’s I like the sigil of air for the damage proc. However, I’ve been trying sigil of fire and sigil of air at the same time, and it seems that the two sigils share an internal CD. Both have 5secs of CD so in some way it might make sense, but what I’m wondering is, if anyone has done some extensive testing or can tell me of their experience with these sigils?

Additionally in my quest to find this information I also tried to use sigil of air and sigil of blood (not bloodlust, this is the one that steals life), however since combat log doesn’t record the damage from the sigil nor the health taken it is very difficult to discern if these two also share internal CD’s. In this instance, however, the sigil of blood only has a 2sec CD whereas the sigil of air has a 5 sec CD, so here I cannot comprehend why they would share a CD.

So can anyone tell me if weapon sigils do indeed have a maximum of 1 weapon proc a time, and if so, is the internal cooldown then of the sigil that procced? I.e. if sigil of blood procced, will there be a CD of 2 sec, and if air procced a 5 sec CD? Or what?

I’ve been lvl 80 for a while now and reset my traits quite a few times. basically i’m not TOO happy with the class atm, i expected them to be very tanky while dealing little damage…like a paladin.

however at lvl 80 and in full exotic armor my lvl 80 guild mate (warrior) has the same attack as me, MORE crit, MORE armor and MORE hp with way worse gear.

my latest reset was to full defense. i’m running a greatsword with knight exotic set and superior rune of the dolyak which gives me these stats:

2600 atk
38% crit
3200 armor
15250 hp

the 3 first are good but i completely lack hp….in pvp with my gear there i have about the same attack and crit but 2800 armor and 23000 hp. that works really well and i can sometimes beat enemies 1v2 with my greatsword.

The difference is that the pvp knight set has vit while the pve has toughness. If your 100% knight your missing a TON of vit. I personally am going to go cleric for my armor, knight for weapon, and Emerald for everything else most likely. I know cleric yuck it gives healing power but i have a ton of healing abilities in my tanky role i have set my self up with. While im not sure as to the crit rating ill have should be decent and my guess is 18k to 20k hp. But i’ve yet to be able to test it as sadly im only 51.

I’m curious, how do the armor/amulet’s differ in wvw from structured/mists?
How are the armor sets different, and do you have to make armor yourself if you want specific attributes or are most combinations ready for some price?

Hey guys, just saw this post. I’ve been lvl’ing my Guardian to 52, but am also beginning to be concerned about future prospects of the class. I saw a stream of Kungen’s stream and his warrior hit for 2k on auto-swings!
I want to dps, and thought the Guardian could be a fun new way of doing it, else than the regular warrior stuff.
So, is it just because the WvW gear is not suited for damage? Or is it simply because the Guardian falls short of the other classes around?
