I’m hoping the forum specialists are collating all the Falling Damage threads to relay to the design team. I’m further hoping that the devs are listening and agreeing that Fall Damage traits are far too costly a use of trait space in the new system. And finally I’m hoping they will let us know their opinion on the matter and what, if anything, they intend to do about it.
One concern I’d have about doing it as a Mastery is whether there are any Mastery lines that apply no matter what zone you’re in. It would be a sad thing if you learned to fall really well in Pact Tyria and totally forgot how when in the heart of the jungle.
I’d like some time frame to be given (I’m not demanding or expecting this, I’d just like it). That way I could figure out how hard to work on garnering skill points. I only have 3 alts to boost to 65 challenges done now, and then I can start boosting further in anticipation of HoT and elite specs. But there’s also SW farming for a portal to do, and creative writing, and other games, etc. It’s hard to budget time without knowing the deadlines
I love the leveling process (well, did before the NPE and traits change) so I always had someone I was leveling. That means I have 14 80’s, so naturally I must have multiples. My duplicate professions are differing races, however, and I focus each one on different weapon/trait combos.
Sometimes I made an alt just to try out a race/prof combo, sometimes I had an RP need for the one I made. “RP” is the real reason to make such a variety, though. I like having a range of RP flavor options.
It is. See some discussion in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Another-new-outfit/first#content
/laughs
Guzzi, I’ll have to hear you say that town name some time.
I know that “DR” has been in vogue among players for a long time, and in the RP community it’s been called “The Reach” since before launch. LA likewise gets called “The Arch.” Part of that is it’s just easier to type those fast when doing involved RP chat.
I was tickled when I heard that soldier in game call it “Dee Arr.” It made it sound more like he really is from the Reach and holds affection for it, enough to give it a nickname.
Oh right, I don’t know why I was thinking Caledon! Yes, that’s a good spot, plenty safe from events.
I have one Thief and three Mesmers. I say Mesmer’s more fun! Of course I may not be playing Thief at all well, since he was my first alt and I took a build reflecting his RP qualities more than to be effective, and haven’t changed it much since. My long time gaming curse, always taking what looks cool and ending up on the very min side of min-max.
Also of course, all three of my Mesmers were created before the new trait system. Thus they have access to all the fun things that make them shine. Still, they feel far more handy in most any PvE situation except perhaps the Labyrinth, where I don’t know how I’d survive without my stealth.
It’s pretty well established both by common consensus and by dev comments in interviews that the sylvari we see fighting on the ships are Pact sylvari helpless against Mordremoth’s influence. If you look at their armor, it’s the stuff we see in our part of Tyria, not some new jungle gear.
I don’t do dungeons for the money, I do them to have fun with friends. Though not all the time, so I still have nothing like enough tokens to complete all the skins.
So yes, I would.
From the FAQ:
Can I talk about the beta on my blog/fan site or show it on my live stream?
Yes! There’s no non-disclosure agreement for these beta tests, so feel free to share your experiences!
I’ll be 50 in September. Even if that Age Bot thing people are using claims I’m 37
And what stops people from offering to “gift” it for huge amounts of gold or cash? That’s the scalping to which I referred, with all the unsavory connotations “scalping” conveys.
My warrior. Tried to go for a scantily clad fierce look, without being too sexualizing. Well, maybe a little. :p
Head: Mask of the Wanderer
Shoulder chest and boots: norn t2
Gauntlets: norn t1
Leggings: norn t3
That one’s amazing. I think you got exactly what you intended. Wonderful dye choices as well. Bravo!
I haven’t tested this but try toggling Post Processing to “none.” That worked to remove the sepia and dust from the LS “Seeds” chapter.
If only it could be gifted freely … without turning into a gold mine. I don’t think ANet wants to open a portal-scalping can of worms.
You are signed up. The blog announcement said don’t worry if it’s lost, your account is flagged for the invite.
No one’s gotten email invites yet. As to beta slots, those likely will appear the same time the email lists are finalized.
Mabon Market is a nice little town for that, but it periodically gets an escaped blobs event that shuts down the crafting. I like Claypool in Queensdale for the same idea of everything but a TP. Though you wouldn’t believe how freaking long it took me to realize the armor and weapon stations are one floor up in a little tower >.> And the crafting vendors aren’t all completely easily accessible at the same time as the craft bench unless you position just right.
Accountancy Waypoint in Rata Sum is generally bustling, has bank, gbank, TP, and crafting stations all within a tiny jog of each other (and using a WP inside the city is almost instantaneous, so you can wp over to the TP from crafting then jog back very quickly at need). Plus it’s nice and close to Dry Top/Silverwastes, thus cutting down a tad on WP fees for that commute.
Right, afaik no emails have gone out to beta invitees yet. Since the portal farm is going this whole week, probably they won’t do the batch emails until that’s done.
If nothing else, people who want the portal might stop farming for it once the date is announced and it’s opposite a wedding or graduation or something
I think you mean the mortar, and Mawdrey? Yeah, it’s bugged. The trick is to run well out onto the rubble in front of the mortar. Try standing over one of the little gaps in the rock. Log out to character select, then back in to game. You should find yourself swimming under the rubble, and be able to head down to the pure water pretty easily.
It may take a couple of tries for the relog trick to work. I know one person trying it when I was going for Mawdrey said they ended up outside the temple entirely, so beware of that and don’t weep tooooo much if it happens
i dunno how you guys made so close up for your face i cant figure that out yet XD
and i dunno how to copy that pic on that site with the age above her head ??
i try some pics and it between 22 and 24
Closeup: Open your Options window (I have it keybound to L but I don’t know if that’s default or if I set it that way). At the bottom there are some camera settings. You want to adjust camera to character height, disable 1st person camera, and slide the field of view over to the far left. Then you can zoom in close.
Copying the Age Robot picture: I use the Win7 Snip Tool, I’ve pinned it to my task bar. I don’t remember how to find it, you’ll have to research that. When you click it, your whole monitor freezes and gets a whitish overlay. You can then drag a rectangular cropping frame around anything on the screen and save that part as a new image in any folder you wish. As I lack Photoshop or anything like it, I then just open those cropped images, array them across my monitor, and Snip the resulting collage to make one image. (I also made Snips of each closeup shot, no need to load a whole game screen).
Interestingly I started trying out a lot of RL photos of me with it. Recent pics are emailed jpegs and worked fine (for those curious, it said I was 37, when I am in fact 49. Otoh it set my husband many years older than he is, taking us from our actual 5.5 year difference to a 22 year gap, lol. It ain’t nohow a perfect program). But I delved into some old LARP costume photos and it couldn’t find faces and asked me to make sure the image was under 3 meg (I could be wrong on the unit of measurement there). So the Snip tool is also handy there as it will rapidly convert an image to a much smaller jpeg.
Probably it’s so people can see what’s in the wiggly chest and decline to open it if it’s jam packed with stuff. Major AP chests can fill your top bag fast. As to mail, I’d warrant that makes it a little harder for bots to spam mail.
its about the gameplay ^^ sw (events) are rly annoy me today, its boring for me and i dont like that i cant do it by myself, sometimes u do the vinewarth event(endboss) and there are ppl afk at boss and fail th e hole event and u waste like 30mins of gameplay for 0loot because event mobs dont drop loot there , and when u fail the event u dont get a chest either .
when i farmed champtrains in forstgorge i got like 1-2exos in an hour with 400+mf
maybe i have to try chestfarms, but u need other peoples too.
I’m very puzzled as to how you did a champ train without other people.
It had real issues with anyone not human or norn. I went for good light, contrasting backgrounds, and closeups on everyone to the best of my ability given some time pressure.
Current RP ages are: Altdragg 37, Arlos TBD but he’s an older Minister with a grown daughter, Briamor 12 (I got a bad picture of him, so I don’t blame Agebot for what it decided, but he should look older than it says), Donari will be 30 on May 21 (he’s very miffed it says he’s older!), Rafe 32, Jin 25, Lucy 31, Mouse early 20’s (I really should give her the beat up face, though, plus she’s aging at an accelerated rate; the face is what I gave her at launch), Ylfa 22, Ysethe 7 (but, y’know, ’vari).
It couldn’t find Andret, Briara, Froblekk, Merra, or Talani’s ages.
I’m rather pleased that the only two sub-20’s it gave me were a sylvari and the face I designed using my own face proportions, since I’ve done my level best to avoid making teenagers. And I’ve always looked younger than I am, thanks to genetics
For the stress test we got an extra slot added to our selection screen, with “Beta” in a green triangle in one corner.
What I’m wondering is if that beta character that was made will be available in this next beta (for most of us, that’s a revenant) or if another slot will go in to let us try both the revenant and other professions.
So far that’s a hypothetical query on my part, no portal having dropped for me at this point.
readthe blurb on 30th and went immediatley to drytop…joined a breach and portal was in vinewrath big chest……whole thing took 15 mins
I call shenanigans! How’d you get a Breach and VW in Dry Top? (Ok, likely a typo, but … had to call it out).
If you’re drowning in bandit crests, look at the Camp Resolve vendor’s second tab, the bottom item, Bag of Stolen Loot I think. For 10 crests and under 1 silver, you get a bag. Sometimes there are T6 mats in the bags. I think my last purchase I got 6 T6 items out of 50 bags, though some of them were Gossamer. I’ve gotten dust and blood and claws and scales, just off the top of my head.
The time gate is account wide. It’s a timer on one component needed to make final components (eg a spool of thread for a damask bolt; you can make as many bolts as you have thread, but only make the thread once a day, resetting at game reset time). The final components, such as damask bolts, can be sold on the TP so if you have the coin you can just buy them without waiting.
For a shopping list, look at http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_armor#Crafting
I didn’t get a portal drop, it was only a forum bug.
How much longer are the portals going to be available? I have been trying but the RNG is not being my friend. To those that have them so far, Congrats.
It should go at least until Tuesday, per the patch notes. As I had pointed out to me since I didn’t read the last line in a paragraph when I was frantically logging in.
One reason Chronomancer seems so much “cooler” is that it’s new. If it’s still more represented than vanilla mesmers once the shine’s worn off, then some more design effort might be needed to reinvigorate the base class’ attractiveness to players.
I don’t recall anything specifically on that. There was a lot of discussion of alliance systems in the Guild Halls CDI, however, and Colin J’s been sounding really excited about whatever the Guild Halls will do. We’ll have to wait for the relevant blog.
Thanks for posting that! I meant to watch PoI and got distracted by SW and a late lunch instead.
Others have posted similar issues; the green star tracker does not give you the best route, or even a working route when the Black Citadel gets involved. Guess asking charr for directions is an invitation for them to have some fun at your expense!
Anyway, if it says meet in Prosperity, just WP to Prosperity. You’ll be in the right place.
Alas, the only way to use the Embroidered skin on higher level gear is to use transmutation charges. You get one charge for each city you completely explore, you get more for daily logins, if you happen to get a black lion key (which you will from your level 20 Personal Story) you can open a chest that miiiiight have charges in it.
Over time the charges build up. I might maybe have bought some on the gem store when they were on sale, long long ago when they first were implemented along with the new Wardrobe system, but generally I have more than enough without spending a cent on them. Though yeah, once the Wardrobe changes came, I stopped doing much transmuting during leveling up. Outfits can cover up a number of armor sins.
Most people now do tend to wait to level 80 to finalize their main look, because gear gets replaced so fast and easily until then. If it’s any comfort, you’ll be 80 relatively fast even if you’re not rushing there.
The cat tonic cannot hold items, or at least could not back when I tried. No kitties pulling kites
So no blaster either, most likely.
Correction! I just tested. I could equip the blaster as a kitty, and fire it, it’s just not visible on the cat. I took some falling damage and was still a cat. It could be what you’re looking for.
Palindrome, the OP is not worried about credit, s/he wants the item itself sitting in inventory as a memento.
I don’t know if Support would provide one, since it has vendor value, but you can ask them and they might be able to check the log to verify the item was not delivered.
If you subscribed before April 28, using a valid email that you check, and have guildwars2@ncsoft.com on your “this is never spam list,” and the April 28 email is not in your main or spam folder, then you may wish to contact Support. (That is the email address from which my Apr 28 email originated).
Did you get the April 28 email “Starting Today: Claim Your Spot in the Next Heart of Thorns Closed Beta?” If so, you’re subscribed.
There was a kerfluffle about this when the initial stress test beta said one needed to be subscribed, because as it turned out they didn’t actually send a confirmation email. Some people never got the invite email, they only learned they were invited because the beta slot showed up on their character creation screen. I did get the email but didn’t know about the extra slot until the forums mentioned it because I have 17 slots and don’t always look at the end of the list
So keep an eye on that.
Does getting a second (or 17th) one still trigger the in-game mail? If not, then it’s just easier for them to put a vendorable item on the loot table in case folks get extra, but the account only gets one invite.
My guildie who got it in DT was on an Elementalist. I’m on a Thief, and have not had a drop. You may have observer bias going
Would you be okay with that being disabled in any PvP setting (which de facto means the activities, too, though typically one doesn’t get profession abilities in those). The color is an immediate visceral hint as to what you’re facing, and with the outfits system pretty much the only quick identifier.
As I don’t PvP I’m not personally vested in this, and would love to have more customization, but I can see the PvPers’ point in wanting to have some ability to know what they’re fighting before it mincemeats them.
A full round of SW followed by a full one of DT and I didn’t, but my guildie in DT did (from an event chest after a skritt event). I think I’ll stick to SW from now on, I actively enjoy that map but DT was painful, even though it would be nice to have the geodes to buy recipes to match my four fossilized insects. I suppose I can always hope the newsletter invite option kicks in if no portal ever drops for me.
Lunch break, then tally ho SW!
I wish the glow could change, orange is not my fave color so I get tired of looking at it fairly quickly. However, if they could offer player-dyeable particle effects, we’d be seeing that in a lot more places.
I think it would be more feasible for the engraving lines on the armor to get their own dye channel. That would help break up the giant block of monochrome we get from the metal parts.
So a little sidebar… Does anyone know if that was in-game footage? Because it could just be my old eyes tricking me, but it looks like the graphics are sharper? clearer? more detailed? Anyone else hope/think there might be some sort of rendering engine upgrade being rolled out too?
I think it’s not live game footage. The mancer one shot everything. So it’s like the original profession skill videos, where the mobs are low level and the the player is 80, so as to demo the skill effects rather than actual combat. Thus they can film it in high definition in-house with controlled action.
That doesn’t mean you’re not on to something. Just that when lots more players have to be accounted for setting may be lower.
No. While there are some overlay applications you can use (google Overwolf GW2), the rule of thumb is that using a mod gets you banned.
Is there access to bank/tonics/ now?
No.
Because there is no beta active. The portals are just the invites to whenever the beta is.
Or yes? From anywhere not in beta.
I enjoy it, especially on mesmers. Maybe mouse moving helps underwater motion feel fluid to me; I certainly have no issue with the z axis. And I’m not a huge twitch reflexes situational awareness person.
You need to scroll to the bottom. Fixes to big patches get added to the bottom of a set of patch notes, even days later. I used the permalink direct to the new part.
edit: LOL. I went back to the forums after posting this and ANet has a huge red banner up saying “WE HAVE INCREASED THE PORTAL DROP RATE.”
(edited by Donari.5237)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-April-28-2015/first#post5019886 from these very forums. Yes, drop rate is increased.
What is the rate? No one but ANet knows.
How to get them? Reports are via mob loot, bouncy chests, VW chests, and one youtuber claims from a bandit chest but folks are skeptical and think she mixed it up with other loot.
