When I unequip my armor, I notice stats are changing in the PvP Build Equipment Menu…
I thought PvE gear has no effect in PvP lobby and PvP matches in Heart of the Mists???
So why is this happening?
Nice triple post. (Sorry, had to mention it.)
What do you mean by triple post?
Did it show up 3x?
I just got an infraction point for it and I didnt even know lol
I want to solo some NPCs in PvP lobby with just my weapons and utility skills to get a better feel for them but my pet keeps taking agro away from me and I want to practice solo. It’s really annoying. Everytime I stow a pet and attack NPC the dumb pet is automatically activates itself without MY permission…
Trying to play this with a controller would be like trying to play using a keyboard while wearing mittens. It would be terrible.
Not true at all! I play better than most keyboard mouse players on my xbox controller playing GW2.
This video is me playing GW2 on an xbox controller.
Also I prefer GW2 not having controller support because I use Xpadder to keybind my controls and I hate naitive controller support on MMOs since I have my own preferred way of keybinding it.
Hey,
As the title says im looking for some people to hang around with ingame. Do dungeons and pvp, wvw. Im done being a solo player and just want to find active friends to play with.
If you play on NA server then add me to friends and let’s game!
Oh and my skype name is: DreamyAbaddon
I have just requested to refund my gems.
So sad… I really wanted the Phoenix Glider…
I guess I can get my money back and buy another game on Steam….
Yeah, it was a two-day sale only. No doubt, it’ll be back in the future. But no idea when. But, if I had to guess, probably around the weeks proceeding the next expansion or super event.
That’s so dumb… Can I get a refund for the Gems I just got?
I just bought gems so I can buy Phoenix Glider and now it’s Not on the Gem Store! When will this be back!? I really want it… >:(
Hey there. I’ve been seeing some comments regarding the story and lore in the Forsaken Thicket raid, and how that fits into Guild Wars 2. We appreciate your enthusiasm! Just wanted to clarify a few things:
- It will not be necessary to play Forsaken Thicket—or any future raid—in order to complete Living World or expansion stories. Raids do not gate main story progress.
- Raid stories can—and should—be thematically tied to Tyrian lore and enhance the game.
- If any lore information from the raids is relevant to storylines in other content, we’ll make sure that information is also available in that other content.
- Raids present story in a different manner than elsewhere in the game. They are not a replacement for Living World, expansion, or Personal Story.
- Output from the raids team isn’t coming at the expense of other projects in development. Raids are made independently of Living World. We do communicate regularly with that team (and we share some resources and assets in both directions) but neither team prevents the other from doing its job.
- The Forsaken Thicket story will conclude with the release of Stronghold of the Faithful on June 14.
- Raids are not part of our Living World episodes; they are separate game elements.
- More information regarding Living World Season 3 will be announced in the future. As always, content will be released when it is ready to ensure the optimal quality for our fans. Hang tight.
I hope this helps people understand things a bit better. Thanks!
I would also like to thank you Bobby for this post.
I seriously don’t care about Raids…
I’m not interested in Raids… WvW or PvP…
I’m a PvEr and I want more PvE content with better story telling implemented during open world exploration and instances. I want to do it with a small group of 5 friends or solo.Raids require a 10+ organized group and I don’t want to spend the time gathering people together to play the game, I want to spend time PLAYING the game on my own terms.
All I want is:
More Story Missions to progress my character’s storyline.
More Cooler and emotional Cutscenes
More new zones to explore.
More dynamic event chains.
More creative Jumping Puzzles.
More Adventures
More Story Dungeons
More Dungeons
More Fractal
More World Boss Events
Restore the Glorious Combat Effects to it’s original
More Masteries
More Skills
More weapon types
More Traits
More Armor skins
More Ridable objects/pets like the flying Broom or magic carpet.
Making the Flying Broom and Magic carpet glidersGive me more of that….
I don’t want any of that, every single thing that you’ve listed, i don’t want any of it
I want more raids, should dev team go for things that i want as well?
The intention of this thread is to express what I want not what you want.
Yes it is bias and it was written that way on purpose. This post has nothing to do with what the community of GW2 wants, keep in mind, this is about me not you or a group of people. Anyone who shares how I feel and shares my perspective is free to express their feelings and for those like you who don’t, congratulations, I honestly don’t care. Posting your opposition won’t change my mind.
Here is a video of me playing all 9 classes.
Might help you choose..
These are the things released in the quarterly updates. As their name implies they are released 4 times a year. The next one is in August, and should include the next chapter of living story.
Raids, PvP and WvW updates are done in smaller monthly updates using smaller teams. For instance out of the 300 devs working on GW2, about half are working on the next expansion, about 100 are working on the things you mention above, and only 5 are working on raids. So yes, nearly 295 devs are working on non-raid content.
See now this bugs the heck out of me.
In November, we got the first raid wing. Then March, we got the second raid wing. And now, June, they announce the next raid wing.
All done with only a few people.
Yet we got hundreds of developers supposedly working on other content and we have got nothing. So a few people are releasing content faster than hundreds of people. It’s embarrassing and disappointing.
HA~ That’s how I feel too.
I seriously don’t care about Raids…

In Guild Wars 2, is there a way to change the toggle to holding down the shortcut for run/walk change?
Is there a way to edit distance zones in Xpadder so that it presses a button one time instead of holding the button when activated by the distance?
In the current state of Guild Wars 2 and xpadder, it is impossible to use the stick to walk/run without an extra button for the toggle. Which is really annoying.
I asked this question and the asnwer is No there isn’t a Push-to-walk feature.
You can only toggle walk/run =(
There is not.
the OP is asking about a way to just walk, without having to toggle it on/off.)
This guy gets what I mean.
If you played FPS games, you have to hold down Left-Shift while pushing the W key to walk. This is called “Push-to-walk” . You basiclly push down Shift, while hitting W to walk. When you let go of the Shift Key, the W key alone will make you just run.
This is the feature I want, to keybind a key to allow me to “Push-to-walk” not “Toggle-walk on/off”
Is there a way to do Push-To-Walk instead of toggle to walk for the control option?
You must be one of the few who would pick up a MMO game for story. Have you tried some single player games?
Of course I play single player games.
But I like good story presentation in an MMO where I can play with real people too.
That’s why I like GW2.
I usually play games for the story, for the adventure, for the lore and exploration and this is why I enjoy playing GW2. After beating my Personal story on 3 characters, and beating LS2 on 3 characters, and beating HoT story on 3 Characters, I am NOW ready to see what will happen in LS3. I expect the production value and story telling is going to improve greatly because of the length they are taking to make it. I also imagine our character will be speaking like from HoT story due to it’s popularity. I hope some of our personal story characters will show up from original pre-expansion. I miss my friend Quinn on my human character, the friend I saved from bandits. I wonder how he is doing? And what about That Egg? It hatched right? So will we go back to check on it? Is Mordermoth really dead? If so what other problems will we face? What is Tiami doing back in Rata Nova? My guess is we are going to fight the Primordus next. Oh I just can’t wait.
=) It’s been too long since we had any main story content so I’m hoping they give us MORE than last year considering how long it’s taking for it to release since the release of expansion pack.
Thank you ArenaNet for the new feature that lets us preview all the new hair styles and faces and such before buying Total Makeover kit. I love you guys for this. The only thing I wish is this feature would be a Menu system instead of talking to NPC in Lion’s Arch.
Thx for all the help and suggestions. Lots to think over. Any reason not to reuse a 5 yr old 600w psu from an old system?
I sent you a Private message.
Can we please have Towncloths be Outfits instead? =(
I wanna dye them and use em in combat too…
It would be simple to add a client slider, or tick back with options on what we do and don’t want to see.
If someone has a problem with X and X skill’s being in their way let them tone it down on their individual client.
We have an effect toggle now, as of this week’s patch. That’s why I’m asking for them to re-add the original FX. There’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to have access to the old, “noisy” visual effects now that people can turn them off if they wish.
Eg. Toggle off = all the original, flashy skill visuals (ie. old auras)
Toggle on = current, toned down skill visuals (ie. current auras)IMO, they’re only hurting their game with the visual nerfs, anyway. The flashy visuals of GW2 has always been one of its strong points. I remember convincing friends of mine to buy the game, years ago, by showing them videos of A/ the combat B/ the visuals.
haha me too!
No. This discussion has been around since SAB was introduced and I am still of the same opinion: SAB will only be special if it is annual and not permanent. It loses its magic, it loses its charm. To some sooner than to others but if it is permanent eventually EVERYONE will get tired of it and it will just be forgotten. No. SAB is worth the wait and excitement for it to come around again. Just like other annual events like Halloween, Winter’s Day etc.
And before you say “Oh then you must have finished everything in one go and not care anymore!”: No. I didn’t finish everything last time SAB was around. And I still didn’t finish everything this time around! Yet I am still glad it’s gone and I can look forward to it again next year.
Again just because your bored of it doesn’t mean others are.
Also new players who join GW2 miss out if it’s always temporarily.
If it’s more enjoyable if it becomes annual then lets make WvW events annual too!
Hell lets make PvP annual and only available during the PvP seasons!
SAB is it’s own game mode. So if that game mode gets treated that way I dont see why other game modes dont get to suffer the same consequences. It makes no sense to call it a festival. I prefer they add new SAB content every April, but keep it permanent so every year you have new Worlds to look forward to, but dont take it away when others enjoy playing it or are just getting into it because YOU are bored. It’s a win-win making it permanent and a lose-win keeping it temporarily.

Just did! Thanks for the link! =)
I have to offer a different opinion on this…
I love SAB as much as the next person. I really do.
But by the end of this April Fools Festival, I was getting rather bored of it. Making it an annual event keeps it special and helps give you something to look forward to.I’d say the exact same thing for any annual event… Take Halloween, for example. I /adore/ that time of year in Tyria (and in RL too) but I would seriously get bored of seeing Mad King Thorn walk around LA all year round.
If you’re getting bored of it then do something else in the game. Oh but it’s going to leave soon so you’re forced to enjoy it as much as possible before it’s gone for another year or maybe it wont even return forever! Who knows! But making this an annual event isn’t the solution. If it was permanent then if you got bored of it you could leave it and do something else in GW2 and then go back when you’re in the mood to play it. By making it temperarly means you’re kinda forced to play it only because it will leave and wont come back for a really long time so enjoying it at first but later becomes a chore since you wanna do it fast as possible with little time left to get the rewards instead of taking your time enjoying the content itself.
Look, lets use PvP for an example. Imagine ArenaNet make PvP a temperarly content… How kittened off would PvPers would be? What about WvW… Imagine that fanbase would feel.. Taking away content doesnt make it more fun when it returns, it makes it sad for players who want to play that content since it cannot be accessible when they feel like playing it. End of story.
Boy… Angry much at a different opinion? :p
No, not end of story… SAB is coming back. It’s an annual thing and like all annual things, it’s good for a while to play, and then gets boring as hell… Kinda like listening to the one-sided ‘conversations’ here in these flippin forums…I can already see what kind of conversation this is going to be, so I’m not even going to bother… Peace out… Or in your case, stay angry…
Yes, of course I’m angry because of people like you who think it’s okay to take away content others enjoy playing in their own time. If you get bored then fine, stop playing it. But don’t advocate for it to be removed because YOU are bored of it when others are clearly enjoying it. Your opinion is selfish since it promotes the idea of stopping others from enjoying content you dont enjoy; because you got bored…
If SAB was permanent you can still stop playing it… and others like me can still enjoy playing it when we want. It’s a win-win… You’re promoting a win-Lose scenario by saying it’s better as an annual thing… I cant play SAB right now because I have to wait till next year… It’s terrible!!! =( SAB needs to be permanent addition to the game.
Give me back my AURAS!
I second this!
I want my Auras and Wells back too!
I miss them sooo much T_T
On the bright side, at least we got FireBall Back on Staff! Yay!
I have to offer a different opinion on this…

I 100% agree with this!
I brought new players into GW2 and they loved SAB!
They all thought it was permanent and unique but sadly I told them later it’s going away till next year or so… It’s so sad to see it go again. I wish it was permanent so we could play it whenever we wanted to as a fun break from the main game.
Thank you ArenaNet!
But please can you make it permanent so we can choose to play whenever we want to in our own convenience? If it was permanent then we could enjoy other parts of the game without the need to rush through it with little time some of us have. SAB deserves to be its own minigame for GW2, It doesn’t make sense to call it a festival. What festival exactly are we celebrating? It makes no sense to call it such. If it’s suppose to be April fool’s joke then it doesnt make sense because SAB is not really a “Joke”, it’s a pretty kitten good minigame that’s for sure and deserves to be permanent. It gives people something to do when taking a break from the main game activities.
Seriously it’s dumb…
I was not in a party, but I was doing Dragon Stand Mordermoth fight… Then my game crashed… I got back in on an EMPTY Map! AND I missed out on tons of EXP!!! Come on!!!
Non of my friends are even doing DS but me and I feel so stupid for not being in a party in the first place but then it hit me — Why should I even be in a party to participate in an event in the first place? What happened to “Do events when there are people around without being forced to partying” concept go? With Mega-Servers now we get tossed into maps that are empty for no reason and have a hard time to even meet up in game.
And for the times I did go to Dragon Stand party, I get message saying “The server is full!” seriously? Why did the game even kick me to a new server randomly it’s wrong.
Sorry I just prefer normal server not this mega server crap. Let’s be honest, the server guest feature is useless too with this crap running. =(
They should let us play SAB for free on April and sell SAB Box for $50 for those who wanna play it permanently whenever they want. Like every April is a free SAB Trail. People who love it like me will BUY SAB Box to play it after April.
I really, really can’t understand why it isn’t permanent.
This system just encourages people to grind it as much as possible, rather than just casually enjoy it. We don’t need to turn off other modes or features to keep them interesting (can you imagine if PvP was available 20 days a year?), and SAB is exactly the kind of pick up and play activity that people will log in for a quick run at. The original Super Mario Bros is still fun 30 years later for a reason.
Throw in a time based leaderboard for all three modes and leave it on all year I say.
This is what I’ve been trying to say the whole time.
SAB is a game mode that is a pick-up and play. By making it a limited time once a year or so then it becomes a GRIND since you want to get everything and you can’t due to the limited time you have to play it. I want to play SAB when I have time and when I’m in the mood for it, not when I’m told I have to play or else I’d be punished missing it. =(
Please make SAB Permenant!
Thank you!
Any tips on not deploying the glider during jump puzzles?
single tap to jump but if you hold for more than a split second the glider deploys and you shoot past the land spot…
any tips?
Im having the same issue. =(
They need to fix it.
I use Xpadder to keybind my Xbox360 controller. If ArenaNet made Controller Support that crap would destory my playstyle unless you can turn-off controller support so I can continue using my Xpadder profile.
I recommend you check out Xpadder.
It should just be permanent. Keep separate SAB dailies for the orange weapons and make people do them at their leisure, without them feeling like a chore.
If there is something i hate with a passion, it’s being forced to do something because of a timegate. Especially when it is possible only within 3 weeks out of a year.
Add a world every 1st april, and that’s it. Fresh new content when the festival comes, eventually make items cheaper on festival time to incentive people doing SAB at that time, and let’s be done.
This is a very good point and a wonderful suggestion!
Wish I came up with that!
Keep SAB permanent, give it’s own dailies and make new world every april! Genius!
Now if only ArenaNet is reading this. =(
GTX TITAN Z!
Trust me… You want it.. You need it… You gotta get it in SLI… =DHaha okay, this comes to about what? 3,000 euro? Why not, haha XD
Well it is the best… lol
HUGE thank you to Anet for bringing this content back. Hopefully it really is going to be an annual festival this time.
Hopefully not… It needs to be a permanent addition to the game!
So it can be as abandoned and neglected as Meatoberfest or the Crucible of Eternity?
Pretty much. There’s value in Seasonal events.
I dont have a problem with seasonal events. I just dont want SAB to be a seasonal event…
I’m glad that lots of people love SAB, but people also love other seasonal content. Doesn’t mean it should be permanent.
(Although, ANet should consider spinning off another company, Weyandt’s Revenge, whose focus would be “mini games” like SAB, with complicated JPs. Done well, they could integrate it into GW2 for other festivals. It’s clear that some people are ready to plunk down US$40-50 to have a permanent SAB, so why not take their money?)
This is true. If they sell me permanent SAB box in gem store I will buy it in a heart beat. No questions asked…
If they made SAB permanent Anet would probably have to spend some time adjusting the rewards again to not make it a total skin farm that most complete in a month or two. I’d rather Anet focus more on LS3 and improving the expansion they sold. I think SAB fans are a highly vocal minority and it would be a waste of developers resources to accommodate that.
SAB doesn’t have to be a priority but it has the right to exist permanently for those who enjoy it or want to discover it. It’s a mini-game for those who want a break from the real game without leaving the real game and it works. I rather more resources go to LS3 story cause I wanna know what happens next in the story because I enjoy story missions, and exploring, but keeping SAB perminantly so I can go back to take some breaks is something I always wanted to do. When you remove it then that’s the only thing I want to do because it will go away and that ruins the overall enjoyment of “Play when you want, what you want” concept of GW2… Seriously
Considering its a single portal in Rata Sum, it never made sense to me why it wasn’t permanent content, with the new bits to it being new levels.
Honestly, with the drought of content, it would be foolish to not leave it in place.
Not to mention the Infinite Restart Coin….Milking the $$$ for people that bought that and then had to wait several years to use it again.
Finally… Someone gets it! Thank you!
HUGE thank you to Anet for bringing this content back. Hopefully it really is going to be an annual festival this time.
Hopefully not… It needs to be a permanent addition to the game!
It doesn’t have to be an annual thing. It could be permanent so anyone can play it whenever. It helps recruiting new players too.
Mike O’Brien please reconsider. You are the Game Director AND CEO…You said yourself:
I said three weeks ago I’d focus on sustainability and quality. I want to reiterate the part about sustainability. Be angry about legendary weapons, sure, but how about the recent drought of content? That kind of thing happens when we spread ourselves too thin, and when we let the content development pipeline empty out so we can fight fires. What I think we actually owe you is sustainable, predictable, high-quality content.
Mo
Let this high-quality content be sustainable because it’s something that many people enjoy. If you remove this content then all that work on it would be gone who knows when and new players once again will miss out on this amazing content.
Please Mike O’Brien I beg you! It’s been sooo long since we had SAB and now that it’s back don’t take it away from us! This content is unique and special and no other MMOs have it but GW2. I really love SAB and I’m not alone. Don’t let SAB be a festival or a seasonal thing, let us play it when we want to. You put so much work and love into it so let it remain in game as a permanently addition to the game.
I doubt ArenaNet will restore the combat visual effects that’s why I’m asking if there are mods I can use to restore them. =)
Is there a GW2 combat Visual Effects Restore mod that only effects the player’s client so that we could enjoy the original combat effects while playing our game? If so where can I get it because I miss the original visual effects like the Aura and fire ball and such =(
Thanks <3
MACs are great machines for designing, but were not meant for playing games. I would highly recommend purchasing a PC with Windows 7 Pro if you want to play games in the best quality.
Both Macs and PCs are good for designing.
As a creative professional and a gamer, I prefer Windows PC for designing over Macs since I can upgrade my computer and save money and pay less for more power. I don’t have to keep buying a new computer for the latest tech like the Mac. I do video editing with Premier Pro, and I use After Effects with Photoshop. The reason why Windows OS is generally better isn’t because it’s designed better than OSX, it’s because it doesn’t have hardware limitations like OSX does. That, and directX which makes it easier for game developers to make games on. Apple’s exclusive software such as Final Cut Pro are programs that are excellent for us professionals but their hardware lacks power.
OSX and Windows are both nice OS but what holds OSX back is Apple is keeping it a closed system instead of being smart like Microsoft and keeping it open. If they do that, then that would change Macs forever in terms of gaming. New innovation technology for gaming would make OSX even better, such as Oculus Rift, the Omni and etc. But Apple needs to change how they think and licensing their OS. They need to lift hardware limitations so all types of hardware would work with it so when the latest tech does come out, OSX doesn’t have to miss out on the action. Game devs would take advantage of that and so would gamers and designers. OSX is beautiful but it has problems. And those problems need to be addressed.
Edit – Windows is not perfect either and it has problems too, and so does every other OS.

And leave the Mac client alone until they can release new and steady content, then maybe resume the Mac client as a side project until we get a fully working mac version but this shouldn’t be priority.
As posted above Anet is working/testing a Mac OpenGL client. I do not know if these are Anet staff doing it in their own free time or if they were hired to do so (a Mac team was promised for a few years when the Mac forum was still open). That stated, the devs working on making the client compatible with Mac/OpenGL may not necessarily have the same skill set to work on content updates. Perhaps they were hired just for the reason to make the Mac client work again. Taking them off that project would not necessarily mean they can just go work on content updates for the game as whole.
The fact is Anet advertises a client for Mac that they say works when it is well known it does not. It appears since they are testing a new client they are concerned with fixing that. If they complete the project or not who knows. But it appears at least on the surface they are interested in doing so. Once again, those working on the conversion to OpenGL may not be able to work on general game content updates as I imagine that is a different skill set.
I’m sorry if the fact that they are working to fix the broken client makes you feel like Anet is not working on what they should be. I imagine the many people that use Macs and bought the game because it has been advertised to work on Macs may disagree.
The Mac Forum is no longer open because it’s no longer being worked on.
Can you give me a source on that? Did you even read my post above? I’ll quote it again.
Testing/working on it.
When we shipped the game originally we used a third-party shell to ‘host’ the Windows version. While this got the product out the door on Mac there are some things we haven’t been able to do to make it a true Mac application. We are actively experimenting with getting native code that runs directly on the Mac with OpenGL etc. I don’t know how long it will take to make it “real” but I can say that this week we finally got it compiling, linking, and starting up on a Mac before it crashes at the login screen.
We don’t have much to say about it. That’s often why we are silent. I don’t want to give you all hope of something only to take it away if it doesn’t work out.
Also here is another red post stating they are working on it.
Hello,
We know the Cider wrapper isn’t the greatest. One of the reasons we don’t tend to respond to a lot of Mac specific posts is because an overwhelming majority of them are shared with Windows users. I do want to assure you all that we are actively fixing bugs on all clients. Some are quick to fix, some take a fair bit of time. Please try to be patient and keep submitting those reports!
Thanks!
Also the Mac forum was closed because they condensed the support forums into one (account/tech support/Mac). For reference.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Forum-Reorganization/
Account and Technical Support (Mac Tech support will be rolled into this sub-forum)
Not going to argue with you. I already reported this thread for going off topic once again as another PC v Mac thread. It’s unfortunate that Anet’s Mac customers can’t make a thread without that happening. Have a good one.
There is no need to argue. You made your point and provided evidance to back it up.
However, that doesn’t mean I agree with ArenaNet supporting Mac client, not until we get more new content first that the game lacks. Either way, ArenaNet does what ArenaNet wants, there is nothing we can do about it but hope for the best.
And leave the Mac client alone until they can release new and steady content, then maybe resume the Mac client as a side project until we get a fully working mac version but this shouldn’t be priority.

The Mac Forum is no longer open because it’s no longer being worked on. ArenaNet is also interested in tapping the console market but they aren’t working on that either right now. Mac users should be greatful they can even run GW2 on naitive OSX… but why bother when Mac users can boot Windows on their mac and play it better anyways? You’re right we don’t know who was building the Mac client or the skill-level of the devs that made it but this really shouldn’t be a priority as reasons I stated above.
In an ideal world, the more platforms a game is released the better since you’d make more money but in reality, it takes money to make money and it cost a lot of money to even make a client on a different platform and when money is limit it’s best to focus on a platform that’s popular and viable, that being Windows.
I have been using xpadder, and my xbox360 controller to play GW2 since the beta of GW2… Also I make my own controller setup, which you can’t find online. My advice to those who want to play on controller is to make ur own controller layout on xpadder so u know where everything is and you’re comfortable with it. That’s what I did and my friends consider me the best dodger in the game. lol
