It’s a bit negative for the game. Conversely, I wouldn’t mind seeing a Commendation system, so players can recommend one another.

I was just thinking… How cool would it be to have a function that allows you to see how many people have blocked/ignored you on your account with a /blocked

^_^ I think it would be a nice way to discourage players from being mean.

Example: If a player types /blocked they will see something like this:
“1,329,343 people have you on their ignore list.”

What is the community’s thought on this?

I’m new to guild wars 2, heard a lot of good things and decided to give it a try, I’m currently downloading now, wondering which NA server has the largest population at the moment. (If a particular server has the largest PVP population, I’ll take that.)

GW2 has Mega-Servers which means PvE & PvP wise choosing a server doesnt matter.
Choosing a Server ONLY effects WvW.

Why I love Living Story....

Massively Mulitplayer RPGs and instanced story telling have no business being in bed together. It’s just a kitten poor medium in my mind and the fact that it’s getting development time really speaks to how out of touch I think ArenaNet is with the players.

This is your opinion…
I play games for good story presentation to immerse myself into the world which I explore. While gameplay is important, story is too.

I played FF11 for 7 years which is an MMORPG with epic Storyline and cutscenes. I felt like it was a truly amazing world to explore and play with friends during my adventures.

GW2 takes storytelling to the next level with voice acting and has a beautiful world to explore as well. I quit FF11 because the gameplay was crap compared to GW2.

I play GW2 because I enjoy the gameplay + Story of the game which no other MMORPG has done before. Both Gameplay & Story are equally important in video games. You may not like it but lots of players do.

Well yeah, skippable cutscenes are nice too.
But I care for the cutscenes and presentation when finishing story mission segments.

Based on interview and thread above,
Does this mean we won’t have any frequent Cut-scenes anymore in Living Story?

This concerns me only because I enjoy doing missions and getting rewarded with a cut scene as I discover more things in the story.

If cut-scenes in the living story won’t be reduced then I’d be happy as a clam.

I’m just asking, since I don’t understand why you have so many missed opportunities.
I’m not a programmer or anything, but I can’t imagine it taking much effort to create some titles.
And I can only imagine it also beeing a benefit to you, aswell as the players.
Why doesn’t some of the achievment that takes the most effort have titles?
People always complaining that GW2 has no endgame (I don’t agree with that btw, my 4k hours says otherwise), but this just seems like so easy to create endgame.
Why is there not titles for getting 5 legendaries etc?
There is actually a lot of titles in game, but most of them are achieved with no effort what so ever.
I like how you added titles with the collections, but why do only some of them have titles?
Again, correct me if i’m wrong. But isn’t this considered pretty easy programming?

What looks like a small change to you, is actually a Big change in programming and what’s big change for you, is a Massive change in programming.

Trust me… I do coding… It can be frustrating…

Well .. I’m not a “programmer”, but I’ve learned to code for the web in html and php many years ago, so have little outdated knowledge on coding (even though i’m sure web/gaming coding is probably black/white ^^)..
But I would think that they could just reuse/edit the code they already have and copy pasta into the place where they want to create the new title? I guess the tricky part is to get the title to activate when you achieve the goal. But for wardrobe/collections it can’t be very hard to make it work.
I’m aware how many things can go wrong lol. But it’s still doesn’t seem like it should take THAT much effort.

OMG dude… I’m web-designing too.
Actually new to the html and php but I find it quite easy to use with DreamWeaver CS6.

But yeah C++ is a different animal. While it’s easy to make titles, you gotta remember you’re adding a whole sets of new functions to make getting titles and applying them for display to work properly. kitten takes time and plus they havn’t fixed the Japanese font yet… and Korean works somehow… It’s all about resources.

Right now I much rather have them work on fixing the Personal Story issue…

How’s about this rotation:

Pre-stacking might:
Scepter/Dagger: Fire 2 -> Fire 4 -> Fire 3 -> Arcane Wave -> Earth 4
Swap to Staff: Earth 2 -> Fire 2 -> Arcane Brilliance
Swap to Dagger/Focus: Fire 4 -> Water 2, 5

Engagement: Ice Bow -> Air, Lightning Storm -> your normal DPS sequence.

Rotations work in Theory but not in actual fights.
You need to use skills based on situations accordingly.
Every situation changes in every second of a fight so I recommend tossing the rotation out the window and know what all your skills do individually so you can better prepare yourself for whatever comes your way.

giving advice on a subject they havent even thought or read about…. they saw title and just slapped their faces into their desk like 6 times….

But would you really prefer to having much higher system requirements (which would make it even worse in your case most likely) and lag due to bandwidth limits in order to avoid having a few seconds loading now and then?

cache it, DO SOMETHING, i should not have go through 4-5 screens to change bank items on 2 chars. GOD FORBID I FORGET SOMETHING ON ONE.

Maybe what you need is more bank / inventory space

My Proposal on Raids:
Rewards: Special Raid Tokens to get Exclusive New legendary Armor pieces.
7 Pieces of Heavy, Light, and Medium Legendary Armors.

Instance Content.
Maximum player: 10
Complete Stage Objectives under 10 minutes.
15 Stages total.

If players fail to complete Stage Objectives within Time Limit, all players get kicked out of the instant.

Skill 1 is the only Skill available when you enter the first Stage.

Every time you complete a Stage, the remaining time left gets added to the next Stage and you unlock another skill on your skill bar until you have 15 Skills Available.

Boss fight awaits you at the final Stage with 100% guarantee Raid Token and 1% Legendary drop rate.

Example of Stages:
Objective: Activate 3 Orbs to open the Mystic Elevator. The Elevator takes you up to the next Stage.

5 Players explore a very narrow path. At the end of the path, there are 3 new paths to take. 5 Players go to the Left Path. 2 players takes 2nd path, and 3 players takes the 3rd path.

Team (A) with 5 players explore the Dungeon while Team (B) with 5 players enters the Control rooms & map room.

Team (A)’s Goal:
Fight mobs, Jumping Puzzles, solve Riddles, and activate the 3 Orbs.

Team (B)’s Goal:
Player 6 – Looks at Radar/Map. He can see Everything including enemy waves.
Player 7 – Activates Doors. (When a set of Door is open another set of door is closed)
Player 8 – Deactivates Traps & Reactivates Traps. (When a set of trap is deactivated, another set is activated)
Player 9 & 10 Must protect Players 6-8 from enemy waves who come to attack them.

Stage #2
Objective – Rescue Motto
10 Minutes added to the remaining time you had left.

There are 10 Prison Cells. There are 4 Prison cells that would give you a random boon like some can unlock a skill slot for you or give you permanent Swiftness, protection, or Might. Each one of these cells will give 1 random player a permanent Harden Boon. While the other 5 cells would give you a curse, which could lock your skill slot you earned from previous stage or give you a permanent Cripple effect or chill effect or Vulnerability and even a trap which can immobilize you for the entire stage! Only 1 Cell has Motto in it. There are lots of traps and enemies that can kill you without those boons. You will be 1 shotted without Harden Boon which encourages players to break the first cell before advancing to Motto.

Once you break Motto Free, You must escort him safely away from enemy territory. If he dies the entire Raid Fails. No Redo.

All enemies including Bosses should NOT be immuned to control effects.
All players should coordinate ((Control)) skills while ((Supporting)) each other while contributing in dealing ((Damage)).

The NPE did not affect the whole ‘starter’ maps/zones, but just the Level 1 – ~3 areas. So, there are still bundles to be found a bit farther out from the initial zone portal. =)

Wait seriously?
I thought bundles and transforms where not available anymore in the lvl1-15 zones?
So a lvl4-15 still uses bundles and transforms?

Hey. I’m fast approaching my first level 80, an elementalist. I haven’t done much dungeons as most of the groups wanted max level or players with lots of AP. I’ve been using a staff to level so I could easily kite melee and are now not sure what I should use. What weapon do you recommend for dungeons? Thanks for advice

I recommend you stay with Staff since your used to the skill sets but I also think it’s smart to learn all other weapon sets so you can master your class. =)

I want to make a Story about a Necromancer and Guardian.
The Necro uses Death Magic. Curse Magic and Blood Magic.
A Life force is universal energy like Chakra from Naruto.

My Story Does NOT take place in the Guild Wars Lore.
My question is simple: Can I use these terms for my story? These terms are generic in my opinion but I want to hear what devs and community say about it.

Again, Does not take place in the Guild Wars lore. No elder dragons. It has it’s own uqnue stories and World. I want to use video game classes. Thanks!

I was wondering when ArenaNet is going to fix the Japanese Kana/Kanji characters in GW2 NA version.

I want to type japanese to friends since im studying with them but I can’t do it while playing the game since this glitch still prevents the font.

Korean text still works but not Chinese/Japanese? What gives?

People are against instanced raids because it means they actually have to work together with people, not leech and actually do their part. They just want to do their thing and not give a **** about anyone else, and therefore because of this, nobody deserves instanced raids because how dare others expect me to pull my weight.

Actually it’s quite the Opposite.
I’m against Raids because with 10-20 players you can have just another zergy content where there are no skills involved like WvW today…

The more players you have the more mistakes you can make and less pressure there is on the players…

The less players you have the less mistakes you can make and more pressure on the players. I prefer challenging content not zergy content that raids will provide.

Lets not forget it’s easier for the devs to balance with less players and you dont have to look for so many people to do a content with too.

Perhaps a difficult content could require 3 players max?
Now that’s what I’d like to see in game.

I dont understand why people are against “instanced raids”. If anything this type of content will not be mandatory just like everything in GW2 and you are free to ignore it if you dont like it.

What is a RAID? In my opinion first of all raid is a TEAM. A team that is going to complete some different task – and that’s what makes it different from “open world zergs” and “semi afk 111 spam”. A team should have leadership, that’s why making a raid instanced is the closest viable solution.

Even now if you analyze closely what is going on during Triple Trouble event you will see that guilds de-facto use nearly empty maps (instances) to fill them with people who are willing to cooperate (not necessarily guildies). They de-facto bypassing “open world idea” because it simply does not work

No. It is not a team. A raid is quite often blind obedience and conformity to the “correct” way to play.

A team means input. A leader needs to know the weakness and strength of each class and be able to compensate for different builds. If what you say is true then each run would be different then the last just because of the different people in the raid and different builds. I never seen this happen in a 5 man dungeon. Raids quite often devolve into stand here, shoot that, and don’t move.

Anet – if you are really going to add this kind of dungeon then I have a simple request. If you going to require a raid to kill one of the Elder Dragons like you required a dungeon to kill Zhaitan then let us abandon the story so we can abandon the raid dungeon and move on to the next story.

This is pretty much true.
I dont support raiding in GW2 =(

I agree, I enjoy watching PvP and even playing it in GW2 since I know what all skills do for all classes, it’s entertaining to see how others utilize the skills differently than I do and how they take advantage of others in matches. Love watching counter moves.

You post every few months about having low AP, and people tell you over and over it’s not a big deal. The groups that have really high AP requirements usually suck and want someone to carry them.

OMG THIS….
This is so True…

Avoid grouping with people who require you to have high AP…
AP doesn’t equal to skills at all… I know someone who has 11k AP and sucks hardcore in combat that I had to revive her every time and all the time… She even refused to take my advice so I left…

Do yourself a favor and listen to these fine folks… Dont grind AP and just play the game… You’ll get AP overtime so just have fun…

Learn to develop your skills and team work with friends instead.

I’m not sure what GvG has to do with pvp being an e-sport or not? I participated in the last tournament, and what do you know, 5 people from our guild participated in 5 people from another guild. Hence, GvG.

This is not an argument that spvp constitutes an e-sport, just don’t see what GvG has to do with it. Especially since most people seem to feel like GvG is basically team deathmatch.

GW2 actually does have GvG… It’s called You and 4 other guild mates vs 5 other guild mates in PvP match… It can happen right now. You got the tools to start GvG so dont say you can’t do it… I mean what the hell do you expect? To PvP in PvE areas against another guild? No thanks! That would defeat the purpose of PvE.

the game that centers around using PvE creep to level when no one is around and ganking out laners when it is convenient or forcing uneven fights?

I heard one of their champions even centers around not even being in fights ti’ll late game.

Yeah I never could get into games like LoL and Dota2 but I love and enjoy GW2’s combat that’s why Im super excited for this game’s E-Sport! Finally I can experience my first E-sport game in a genre and combat system that I actually like playing! =D

The link I provided is an Announcement of World Tournament 2014.
There seems to be Prize money for the winning Team.

This means that GW2 is finally E-Sport now… Unless I’m mistaken prove me wrong otherwise cause how I see it, E-Sport is when players win prize money in PvP tournaments as a team and people come to watch or participate.

Also GW2’s PvP takes lots of skills and strategy so it’s appropriate for E-sport genre.
This is why I support it becoming E-Sport… We need games with combat like this.

This may have been brought up before. But I didn’t search it because these forums are massive in posts… My Question is this??? My level 62 player can go in a level 9 area and get 60+ exp a kill plus most time gets explorer Bonus for 60-130 exp per kill.. Now my level 17 player can run in the same area but only get 13-16 exp a kill… Events I do with the level 62 in the low level areas… I get 3000-5000+ exp .. The level 17 gets around 500 exp….. This just seems odd to me that player stats level down but exp doesn’t seem to drop to match up…

The idea of GW2 PvE is to play how you want, and play with friends without level restriction gettin in the way.

You should be able to get to lvl80 without ever leaving the lvl1-15 zones.
The whole reason why you level up is to explore higher level zones and enjoy higher level content and discover new things that the world provides you. There is no reason to rush to lvl80. The level scaling is to help bring players and friends together to enjoy the game with without one shotting everything and ruining the experience of fun for others. If you get less to no exp at lower level zones then it would prevent you from playing with friends who are lower level than you which is a bad sign in an Online game…

Yahoo Mail is temporarily out of service. No one can access it. I’m not sure they put a ‘lock-down’ on your email account.

Also, displaying half your log-in information for public view is not the best idea. You were instructed to contact the CS Team in your other thread for assistance. That is still how you change the email associated with your account.

Stories should be presenting ingame through cut-scenes and should be experienced through gameplay.

For every short stories they make not ingame, is a miss opportunity to present us new story driven content ingame.

Stats are fine how they are right now.

Yes six of the games nine stats ranging from sub-optimal to completely and utterly worthless in nearly all of the games content is totally okay.

You can’t be serious…

I want to see all of that stuff added to the game as well, new classes, weapons, utilities, dungeons and areas, and even the LS, the whole shebang. But there is absolutely no point in adding any of that content without a functional combat system to play through it with.

look buddy, just because you dont know how stats work or how to make builds using the current stats given doesnt mean they are useless…

Lol, I’ve run through nearly every path of every dungeon, all of the games events, world completion, and all of the LS content on what most would dismiss as one of the crummiest condition builds the game has. If anyone here needs to learn to play, it is you, but I doubt that is true of either of us, in reality your need to learn to contribute valuable and logical input over hyperbolic leetspeak.

Yes any build technically ‘works’ in all of the games content, because sadly knowing the content is 99% of the game, making your build meaningless except for getting through content slightly faster, and that is horrible game design. The ability to take a build in to content and complete it does not change how little parts, or even the entire build, contributed to completing said content. If no build matters one way or the other then the build system is just as broken as if only one build mattered. And depending on how you look at it one of those is true.

A build consist of 3 things: Skills/Traits/Stats.
You choose skills that fits your playstyle
You choose traits to enhance your playstyle
You choose stats to suppliment your playstyle.

Your build is based on how you like to play your class and I have 5 builds per class.
I play 8 classes so that’s 40 different builds I have. I’m also working on 2 new builds with Guardian and Warrior so I’ll soon have 42 builds.

Honestly a build system is only broken if you are forced to play 1 way for all contents. The fact that you can make any builds you like and be creative makes the combat exciting. This isn’t like games like WoW where your stuck playing 1 way or the high way. You play it how you want and master it. That’s why I suggested L2P instead.

Are you trolling? In pve anything other than zerker and assassins is useless. In spvp almost all classes are either celestial or soldier or zerker. In wvw zerg is all about soldier classes.

Ask for changes in the game is completely valid. Lol if everything was perfect and 100% ok why did we get so many changes during the last 2 years? The game needs to keep mutating and innovating.

Like I said this is a L2P issue.
I played since beta.

We do need changes and improvements in game but we dont need this game to turn into “Just another MMO”.

Anything that encourages roles ruins the combat of the game’s design.
