“In a decent place” is a matter of view though or even more what part of the game we´re talking about.
My WvW-guild decided to go “pro-mode” and engis (together with rangers) are excluded now from dedicated guild-raids. And I can´t even really argue with them as I see what my guard can do and how much I lack stability on my engi.

for my experience i see engy in pve only for a few dungeon and for low lvl on fotm
other pve thing its a massive meta and its useless to call it a ncessary member

some bunker build (high survivability but low dmg), cond build (high cond dmg but no clean), SD (high crit dmg but its the same of a thief but no stealth) well on pvp its the same of other class depending on how do u L2P

i see all class got a role
war and guardian on the first line
thief and ranger for kill the ppl who got 50% of their life stole by the first line
necro and engy for spamming conditionsand support the first line (necro for kill, and engy for water/blast)
eleand mesmer got the support role on the back (ele for spamming aoe and mesmer for stealth, portal, blind and stomp)
and this is for zerg blob issue
now for a small group depend on ur team setup, ur build, and how u and ur team play
i see a solo DD ele kill 2 war and 1 ele team
i see 1 engy do the same

and i can continue for all class

war
guardian / engy
mesmer/necro(cond spammer)
ele/engy
thief/ranger/other class
just ppl who know what to do and with build for what to do
for self defending and push back an enemy who try to stomp an ally
blast some aoe field
smoke = stealth
fire = might
water = heal
ecc
if ppl dont knock back is because they got stability
turrets build dont have boon from skill but only from blast on combo field
just play for fun

maybe PvE to sPvP but no way sPvP to PvE
some of gears in spvp are way too easy to earn while the same appearance are very hard to get in real world.

I got Arah set gears in spvp just from random chest. If u wanna get in pve u have to grind pve for a while
rng favors you
most people will have to grind for 15,000 glory and 8 gold
in hotjoin it’d average to be 150 glory per 7 minutes optimally
optimally that’s 700 minutes or 11+ hours
realistically your probably going to be closer to getting 150 glory per 12 minutes
that’s 1200 minutes or 20 hours
whether it’s 11 hours or 20 hours, if you do arah runs for that long you probably have a completed set and then whatever extra profit from loot after that
the other nice thing about dungeon runs is you can target individual pieces whereas in pvp you have to go all in on the whole set
the point of all this is that it’s not unfair to get an armor in one game type and have it in the other
glory farm map its easy to make easy points
and random 5vs5 maps to fun points make 5k+ glory/4h (with booster)

I feel ya. I too hope this come to reality as fast as possible. I am Rank36 in game and my PvP gears already outshine PvE ones by~~~too much for me to say in a post

and compare a pve vs pvp set, a pve set got more stats than a pvp set
its not the same
if it is a skin issue just make a shop item who can merge pvp skin to a pve item
and after that we can see only pve skin price drop down

some time i play heal bunker with healbomb/nade/eg if i dont see any guardian or ele on team
just change skill for what u need if u need run or stability or elixir s for stealth (+ smoke bomb combo)
I can only speak for PvE where he is an awesome teammate: Most engis A) don’t know what they are doing or are annoyed by grenades. And sometimes even C) they know what to do, but forget about their skills and just keep spamming a skill.
Seriously I rarely see a random engi use his fields, spreading heal and 15 stacks might. I know just one engi that does that – a friend of mine. But randoms? No, just annoying dps suckers with rifle and elixiers or dual pistol condition fuzzies …
all the time ppls want zerker on team and dont want to play with bunker or cond spammer, but when they die fast complain engy who dont spam heal on the feet
in fotm and some dungeon i play engy bunker for other i play mesmer (or if i see other engy in team)

Last night I fought a power engineer on wvw. He invited me to party and explained a little bit of his build. Traits: 30/0/10/20/10. Gear: PVT. The result: I couldn’t take 40% of his HP and his hits hurt me a lot. In 5 duels, I lost all (I was dueling with my warrior). I tried all my builds: full tank, full DPS and hybrid.. I don’t know this build, but maybe you can search for this one, it’s very solid.

its not a big problem all class got elite 60+ seconds CD
only thief got an elite with 45sec CD
and lyssa is a precision/cond duration rune with a random boon on heal use
it’s a rune set for crit build, i played it on mesmer first time but i changed it for a 4xogre’s rune +2x flock rune its more fun to see a ogre dog and a swarm of birds casted on enemy
the problem is not to lose or to win…ppl dont like the fact that ai do all the job while players jump around the map
the game must be based on skill, not on passive procs, not on pets ecc

I’m so sicked of ppl leaving a match after it is started! I end up with 4v5 or even 3v5 for 80% of my pvp play time. This is ridiculous!!! Please do something about this. This is a major issue and a huge turn off. I might just stop playing pvp because of this. Thanks.

i played MM necro and see some build can counter it easy (mesmer with moa, guardian GS, engy cond spammer, thief who stealth and evade all minion ecc) its just a L2P issue and i say it i need to learn how to play necro XD

if you can’t burst down a thief before he re-stealth then you will never kill a good player thief that perm stealth to recover on 1v1. That’s how broken this mechanic is in wvw. However, I find mesmers to be a lot more annoying using constant stealth than the actual thieves.

Okay every few months of coming back to the forums waiting to see what they’ve improved (if anything) I find it funny that I see this type of nonsense just about as much as I find the nonsense about stealth on Thieves, seriously you can stop posting this now.
There’s nothing wrong with engineers cept they were a little weak (especially in PVE hopefully they’ve improved that now and will continue to improve them to bring the profession out of the beta stage) but they don’t need anymore nerfs in fact if they haven’t already they need to go back and check the nerfs they’ve done in the past to make sure the numbers are closer to the class favorite, Warrior.

Yeah the leap skill isnt to bad, wasted if they move out of range which is fairly easy. Stealth Meh, that can be countered by several skills that continue to hit while in stealth. Unlike Thief we dont get no 25% movement speed signet or trait for 50% faster movement in stealth (that seriously needs to be nerfed) either so fairly easy to use several skills to continue damaging them while they are in stealth, only lasts a few seconds unless its Mass Invis which is easily interrupted/
You don’t want to be in melee range all the time. So i don’t count that as one seeing as not everyone uses it, where as the others (minus Phase Retreat) everyone has access to and Phase Retreat i included as it doesnt require a a skill chain to use.
thief = low hp and low armor = 3 shot death

Engie may seem beta to some (and may be) but perhaps in that we find that this class has more build and play diversity than any other class I have found. It requires extraordinary active play to balance combinations and kits but a lot of fun and quite well powered, actually.
Not quite sure what the complaint is really.
i play turrets this week on wvw (bunkerized) and got fun but turret dont got movement or breack stun or stability, i dont want play kit bunker every time in wvw or nade HgH
and never see a gadget build who worked (A.E.D its useless 40s CD untrait)
if Anet can give some boon on gadget and turret (and fix the know bug) we can talk on build diversity

ok to say engy is an high rank class to play but other class compared to engy got some improvement when angy got debuff
talk on basic weapon (rifle, pistol, shield)
other class deal condition, dmg and got some boon when they use some skill, engy got only condition and low dmg
for movement without kits or elixir we didn’t got any (some gadget but high CD )
we got bug never fixed and tips incorrects (EG count for elixir or not???)
build diversity = bunker or kit (nade, FT, bombs), SD, HgH when gadget and turrets cant played (no traits for gadget and bug for turrets)
racial skills useless (tool belt dont give any improvement on use and high CD)
i like to play engy, it’s fun but compared to other class engy got more restriction then other
swap kit is faster than other swap but u need to use the utility spot
ele use trait and most of ele trai 30 arcane all the time and at the same time got the utility skill free to use what they want (weapon, signet, ecc)
we only got tool belt skill if we use kits and if we run 30 on tool we dont get the same CD reduction

-almost all of our cooldown reduction traits are just that, they dont give any bonuses like you see in every other class
Well, Engi is not the one with worst CD reduction traits at all Actually it’s great that when I’m playing my Engi, these traits are reducing at least CD of 10 skills, not like on my Elementalist.
However I agree that other classes have usually another benefit linked to the CD reduction which Ele and Engi lacks….
with ele if u go 30 in arcane trait u can got a massive CD on swap elements
we need use all utility skills for swap kit
engy and ele are not in the same boat on CD
same for HgH
elixir trait affect only utility elixir
EG is a kit and didn’t count as elixir
