engy isnt war who tank and take dmg whit easy heal
u need to hit-run and dodge, i got the same problem when i switched from my bunker to a cond build (good dmg but i go in the middle of battle XD )

at lvl 22 i sudjest to use medkit for heal skill (3 heal + 1 clean + 1 run) granade bomb and elixirS, pistol/shield

now all build are focused on cond dmg and and cond dmg slow duration
just make high cond dmg for a short period is great, clean is useless and u can spam condition every time (bleed, burn and torment)
rememeber to run away when u need to clean conds on u or stealth for that
accessory:
20 lawrel+ 250 badge of honor = amulet
20 fractal relics (token at the end of fractal) = 2 rings
24 guild commendation = 2 earrings
45000 karma poits = exotic rabbid back from lyssa temple vendor
just take some time to collect token (more or less 2 weeks)
rune set u can use your actual rune set, it’s just a sudjest
for take all equip from zero u spend more or less 20 gold, if u want only dmg u spend less, if u want to be beaty to u spend more XD

  1. shotgun: aoe dmg mad by multiple explosions
  2. demolition: run and place bombs and mine for knock ur enemy
  3. supply convertion: convert boons on ur enemy in condition and conditons on u in boons
  4. shield field: make a dome who relfect all damage for a short period
  5. elixir of life: revive nearby downed ally and heal them
    all 5 with a 90s/120s CD or make the kit with a 90s CD

I like the concept, but personally (being someone who doesn’t leave the Mist’s) I’d like to see something like:

-X kills with each Utility Skill equipped
-X kills with each Healing Skill equipped
-X kills with each Ultimate Skill equipped
-X kills with each weapon type equipped

The numbers themselves should of course scale judging on the game mode, naturally you would have to kill much more PvE creatures than other players in order to reach the “goal”.

With this you could easily have tiers of Titles. For instance, meeting the X amount of kills while using all the Turret type Utility/Healing skills could grant you a title to reflect this perhaps something similar to: Master Turret Technician. And after achieving all the prerequisite titles for each only then Would you gain the “end all beat all” of Engineer titles.

This (in my opinion) would demonstrate that the particular Engineer has used each skill effectively or at the very least knows the functions/purpose of each skill and would, I feel, justify and warrant gaining such a prestigious title. On a side note, this would also create some fun diversity in Hot Joins (less so in tournaments I’m sure) across all professions as a lot of players would be forced to try “non-Meta” builds to reach these titles making for some very enjoyable and interesting/innovative matches.

Not to mention it would just be fun to say I killed 1000 people with a land mine.

i play vs thief to and bomb build sure is noticiable and slow but grant u to make ur enemy use stability and dodge and after that u can use FT/rifle to push

It´s not the decapping that is the problem with decap engis, it´s the decapping combined with heaviest sustain. Without AR, they wouldn´t be viable in their current, stupid abusive form. Anyone who ever played one should be able to confirm that.

all decap engy got the same traits 0-0-30-30-10 or 0-0-20-30-20 or 10-0-20-30-10 or 10-0-30-20-10 or 0-10-x-x-10
depending on wich kits ur use and how u use
the rule is take ur enemy out of the area
decap engy dont got stability and blind is a good counter
is a build who dont make much dmg but is focused on survivability, dodge when u need, and push ur enemy when they dont have stbility on
some ppl run with 3 kits, others run with 2 kits + tumper turret others 2kits + mine
just play for gain experience with ur build

sigil of perception give more critical chace than sigil of accuracy just take 25 stack on mobs kill
on food: toxin maintenace oil give less precision than a master mintenace oil
if u go power/crit u dont need +10% cond duration for rifle
only HT for cond remover and vigor trait whitout swift didnt work

well if u spend 20 points in alkemy u can trait IX for heal gained with kits
90% of the time u use a kit
for elite first to add is supply crate (best elite for all engy)
and for gain some lvl to fast u need just play PvP
every 1500 glory u can buy a book of knowledge (1 lvl on pve char) doing daily pvp achivements for achievement and some reward)
with booster and glory farm u can gain 3 lvl every 4h with this engy just for glory farm just kit for run and use bomb 1 2 3, nade 1 2, FT 1 and tool belt nade

I quite like the suggestion in the other thread to change AR to be a more active and less “all or nothing” trait for condition removal and make it remove 1 condition when a toolbelt skill is used over 25% health but remove 2 conditions when a TB skill is used at or under 25%.

That way it’s more active play, it’s not cheesy complete immunity and it doesn’t screw over non-decap engis.

all TB skills got a 20-30 CD if not traited and only a few skills got under 15 sec
and if traited we got a 30% CD reduction and its useles beacause we need to spend 30 points in tool just for that reduction
if ppls know how AR work is seample to counter
AR start at 25% of engy life all condition he got last and new condition are removed, no CD, but at 25% tresold start inventions Low Healt Response System (regen 10 sec CD) + Automated Medical response (all heal skill recharged 90sec CD) + alchemy Trasmute (incoming condition r converted 15sec CD)

if u know this u need to pressure the decap engy at 50% of his life with conditions + fear chain (if u got) + knok/stun
every 20sec engy use HT end/or EG #5 for heal, he got only 1 stunbreak,
when u see him at 30% of life stun/knok/push/fear works (u got 90 sec after AMR to kill him, just dont waste ur skills)

Glass Rifle Build

I recently came up with this build for use in WvW. I feel that it does pretty well, considering I’m able to survive quite a long time even though I’m glass, but I wanted to get your opinions, so any comments and criticisms would be welcome.

The build is mainly focused around the Rifle, with the Tool Kit being used as neccesary, be it to pull someone, block, or smack someone with a Pry Bar. Speedy Kits and Elixir B give me more than enough swiftness, and the retal and fury from B are nice as well. Elixir S gives me survivability, as well as safe spikes on downed players. The Supply Crate is the Supply Crate.

I went with Assassin’s instead of Berserker’s because I feel that the Rifle depends on consistently critting, since it doesn’t have the fastest attack speed, and the reason I don’t have anything in Explosives is because I feel that it’s a dead trait line if you aren’t using Bombs or Grenades. I didn’t go for Static Discharge because the only Tool Belt skill I have that would work with it is Throw Wrench.

If you want to try the build out yourself but don’t want to go through the trouble of getting Ascended gear (I don’t blame you), Exotics should work just fine.

First thing I do when I break out of combat is change out to my Air Jordan Rocket Boots to get some distance. I also put them on anytime I am solo and switch them out only when I am about to engage or be engaged.

As an engineer, you should be switching out utilities regularly.
When I roam or am traveling to meet a group, my utilities are quite different than when I am with a small group or a large zerg.

This reminds me “just dodge anticipate fear lel” from terror necros right after their ascension to meta.

Except that’s not what I’m saying at all. In fact, the guy I’m replying to is saying that you can’t dodge those CC and I’m saying that dodging is NOT the counter but rather it is positioning that is the counter. Knockback has a very limited range so get the hell out of range during those crucial moments, such as getting a heal off. Time your bursts between knockbacks instead of blowing them all at once only to get CCed.

You realize the points are all way less than 300 range and an Engineer standing in the middle will hit you either way so theres no actual way to position yourself in a way to avoid it besides standing outside of the point, you know, where they kittening are trying to get you to go in the first place.

o.O just run in the middle of a node and dodge (and if u got stability its a easy run)
with necro MM (no stability) work well the fear chain and golem kcnok but necro dont do dmg to kill the engy and same for engy who cant kill me, a friend help me to kill him (ele DD) just take some strategy and team work

i didn’t see that much problem to counter a decap engy
i play decap engy when i run my engy seriously (and for fun i play other build XD) but when i play other character (necro MM or ranger or mesmer) its the same as play decap engy, push stun daze fear evade (i missed something?) just a L2P issue
u need to focus the right time to use ur skill/dodge to counter ur opponent (and hope ur connection dont obstacle u in that time)
i got some problem vs the evasive thief (evade evade evade evade how many evade can do
) and bunker guardian (block block block wtf)
and ppl dont say a word on this 2 build, u see only engy who can swap fast theyr kits, but swap kist require skill and not only push 1 button for block/evade
u talk to animation, well look at the back of the engy (on topback on theyr head) and u can see the different bagpack, just knowing that u can predice what skill the engy can do
engy kit skills got 2-3 of cast time (not all skill got istacast), bomb skills got aoe mark, evading the first and stay not on the engy range, he must change kit for other counter
engy dont got stability push/stun him at 50% of life (he try to use HT for blastheal) and u counter the clean up conds, if the engy run EG he got only 1 stunbreak with 35s CD (more or less) fear chain, hammer chain can do the difference
decap engy make cond dmg and dindt hit to high just clean when u need and he never run u down of 60% of ur vital
2vs 1 decap engy its just a timing issue: 1 need to focus on dmg and the other 1 need to focus on CC the engy and when u see the engy drop life fast its time to go all 2 on dmg to finish him
at the end u can do the same thing on other decap class to (well thief if stealth cant cap a point)

some change sudjested help u
i see to use HT than med kit
change rune and sigile setup
change 10 traits on tool to add on invention to gain some toughness and healing power
change some trait to gain more defensive power (alchemy IV its a life saver)
pistol+shield give 2 sigil on swap (with FT+ TK u swap faster) sigil of energy or hydromancy can do the diference in a fight

some time Alchemy IV (self regulating defence) its an auto elixir S who saved my life in a zerg and with automated medical responce give u a heal when u need (HTx2 + detonation+F1)

dodge when u need to dodge and not for every atk u see, we got 2 dodge and its important dodging an hammerchain or a clone blast or a stealth thief when we got the first atk combo

not all fractals need a guardian or a zerker build
for dredge i would get in party a thief or a engy/mesmer who can stealth
for underwater take off who dont make aoe dmg
for the tourmanova reactor dont needed close combat ppl and war with bow or rifle lose 30% of their dmg
a balanced team go faster than a zerker team
all the time i go with a zerker team, 50% of the time is res on boss

engy is a balanced class for all setup we got
if they fix some bug and add somthing on gadget, we got a perfect class

or 5 spirits ranger team who need only coordination
or 3 hammerchain war+ 1 bunker + 1 decapper
just know what to do

well a zerker do 9-13k on single target
and if u use a granade u can do the same thing to 2-3 target for 8-10k only power dmg

30-30-0-0-10 build who someone play do that and this is a good build for speed run dungeon (CoF – AC – HotW – SE – ecc)
but for fractal i prefere survivability

swap FT to EG to reset jugdernaut and reswap to FT
with this u can get 25 stacks of might without the sigil
with FT build u use FT 70% of the time because its a close combat style
some protection/blind, EG is used only for add condition, cc, heal and swapped to rifle for another CC and condition to long ranged atk

i wouldn’t go full conditions. if you’re determined to have some condition damage, rampager/carrion/celestial might be a better option. as for being kicked from dungeon groups, that just depends on the group. i’ve had 1500 ap warriors criticize my builds and then spend 80% of the run on the floor.

but yeah engis are quite good in pve.

same for me
i run bomb/healer on some dungeon and fractal
when i get some ascended weapon/armor for my engy i run it in high fractal to
im tired to play mesmer on 40+ fractal
