Okay a perfect compromise. Bring flying mounts to open world.
Unlock them across account for a leveled 80 character. If game map design does not allow for high fly stick with low flying. Make sure we can attack and harvest nodes while mounted. Speed increase while mounted over what we would get from a speed boost walking. Mounts can also run and jump while we ride.
To easy? Set it so that people have to have at least 3 level 80’s before they can unlock mounts.

A couple of years ago my guild had all of us as part of a contest transform into festive golems and then run across world vs world as fast as we could. There was maybe a hundred of us doing it. The idea was whomever survivee the longest crossing the eternal battle grounds would win a prize. The problem is we ran across groups of the other two sides fighting, they just just stopped fighting and watched us run by, so the entire group crossed one side to the other with not a single fatality lol
Today I was playing a new character in The Grove after a long time of eotm/SW so I thought I would just do some relaxing world achievement stuff. I ran out of pickaxes so I climbed to the top of what seemed like a fairly mobless hill. I menu ported to PvP to buy and ported right back thinking to equip. But instead of the hill I had left from I was inside a den of spiders. I fought hard but it’s a low lvl char and they had their way with me. I ported to nearest wp and off again on my happy journey only to get surrounded soon my little spiders. No big deal I’m in control now not taken by surprise. Until in real life a big bulbus-buitt white spider ran across my hands on the keypad! Do note that here in Illinois we have a dangerous species spider called brown recluse and so we are a little more jumpy than most with arachnids. So much for relaxing.

Yeah I can’t find this PaySafeCard ANYWHERE and gamestop does not have rights to HoT until it’s official release. So those of us who don’t have a credit card are totally out of the beta stuff. Oh well.
All their attention should be on HoT for a while but there would not be any disadvantage or loss of revenue if the dev team got assigned to adding more stuffs to the beginner zones. I mean we all keep starting new characters. At least I do. HoT is a high level (80+) zone?
I leave the emotes on I like seeing the rp’ers play. Gives me something to look at when buying/selling. I don’t mind if the emotes reach the entire zone but I don’t think they do except in the cities.
What DOES bother me is repetitive npc talk. I wish that would cycle once.
1) In EotM a commander took a wrong turn and fell to her death in front of the enemy. We all followed like lemmings. Then the enemy team danced and laughed on our huge pile of corpses. It was very funny to me but that poor commander logged out in shame.
2) I use an Endless Mordrem Thrasher Tonic just for jollies but it really scared a gal. Some of us spend to much time in SW we’re seeing Mordrem around every corner.
3) Speaking of SW; for stupid – the people who run with a chest train on an event map but wont listen when you tell them repeatedly in party that it’s FULL yet they still advertise in LFG for more people to come join.
When fighting the boss on the North Lane you stand on the flowers but sometimes the flowers do not open. Today it appeared someone was destroying the flowers so I said in chat that you stand on them not shoot them. They told me you had to shoot them to get them to bloom.
I wanna play as a Centuar and challenge Human females to races.
If Anet chose Centuar and it did not run faster than the other races I would be very disappointed.
I have played as a four hoofed creature in games like Mabinogi and it is not hard to jump. Your back legs follow where you forlegs go when jumping on small places. Center of balance is in the forfront with the back being more of an animation.
They are not saying map completion is hard they are saying it is boring.
It’s okay on the first character but every character thereafter it’s uck, not this again. Not that I don’t think this game is pretty. I just have a high bore level. I spend all my time split between SW and EotM/WvW. PvP is even more boring than PvE. So I’m more of a castle wars kinda guy. I know some probably love map completion.
But for the rest of us: If this was my game and I wanted to make map completion interesting I would hide treasure in random non-respawning spots. Treasure like ascended and no crap loot.
But the title of the thread is Magic Find is a Myth which means we are talking about more than just precursers here. And I agree with OP it’s a very frustrating aspect to this game. I have to class it as “GRIND” along with all that “SALVAGE” we do. Grind grind grind.
Could we maybe have the best of both worlds? How about some dungeons that allow all party kicking and some dungeons that have no party kicking at all?
I am for no party kicking by party members but an afk kick by the system when you are in party if you don’t move your character in a 2 minute time frame (literally move around; not spell cast only). To avoid afk free loaders which was why party kicking was invented in mmo’s in the first place.
Why, exactly, do we need a new race? Because you’re bored? Why not try another game, then? … -snip- …
First, someone said reroll. That’s a DDO term meaning to delete your character and make a new one. Which is not necessary in GW2 because you can buy extra spaces with irl / game cash. I would never delete my Sylvari. I’m still making more!
To Raedwolf – Not bored just envisioning an even brighter future. We’re all gamers here; we are trying other games. But GW2 is the best mmo atm – beating the competition. So I want to stay.
I didn’t know about the Largos until now. The design is good. Character creation options could allow for many types of Largos not just what is in the wiki picture. There are already wings in game you can buy on TP. If they clip oh well let them clip w/e.
My posting on this subject is not meant as a disrespect to the devs hard work on HoT.
If they add another race it would have to be the Tengu. It’s already in their lore and there is evidence that it might have been in the workings once. Tengu is fine but it feels like just another animal race – just another Charr. I’m more likely to play an elfish race but actual elves wouldn’t be added because Guild Wars has their own lore and mobs. People would complain they were copying everyone else if they added elves. Still, if they added dark elves I would play them.
But what I would really like to see is merfolk. Reasoning – it’s not been done in any mmo other than Perfect World and that game… umm lacks. But with GW2 extensive underwater landscapes a mer would fit in well. Of course they would have to have landlegs when they exited the water but that’s okay.
Be nice if we could get some lovely long hairs for both male and fems with a class like mer folk. Also an option to make a few uglier mer folk for variety.
I bought the original game from Gamestop and I want to buy the expansion from Gamestop. I like to get up from my PC and stretch my legs by going OUTDOORS some times. You know that place, it’s up your mom’s staircase that leaves her basement.
I looked over their payment options again and the third option was PaySafeCard. I have never heard of it before but it looks like it might be Anet’s substitute for the long gone UltimateGameCard. On PaySafeCard’s site it says my local gas station is selling the cards. Have to investigate further.
I suppose it would be to much to ask if anyone here has used PaySafeCard?
In system message it some times list the name of a party leader even after you are out of party. SW moves very fast so it’s hard to pay attention but I could try harder. I could screen shot as I go but it is like taking the picture of every license plate on every car that drives by you just in case one of them might hit you. To many to much. Plus I don’t want to accidentally report the wrong person. I’ve seen the system message mess up and not give a name. Lag issue maybe idk.
I bought GW2 base game a year ago from GameStop. Playing it ever single day since. I want HoT but I don’t own a credit card. Is there a game card I can use? I know Ultimate Game Card went out of business.
Also, I’m a little confused. When I follow the link thru my launcher to order HoT it says “comes with base game” but I already have the base game. I don’t want to buy the base game again. I just want the expansion.
I cannot get a paypal account. I don’t meet their requirements.
It seems to have become a thing now in Silverwastes to false advertise. If I understand correct you only get about four chances to join a party then you are on Dungeon Finder Restriction where you cannot join another party map? Is there anything I can do against these false party group leaders to stop them? They are doing this repeatedly to troll and it’s not just one person. They will say SW 50% and you zone in and the map is in the doggie pacman stage.
I hate Steam. I hate what they did with Skyrim for PC. I don’t want a world where I cannot shop at GameStop. I like those mall employees. I like seeing Americans have a job. I don’t like monopolies. Their Steam Fortress and reduced prices seduced you. You don’t see them as a mega corp taking over and making citizens jobless.
Pulling items in and out of cash shop is an old mmo trick. It raises the overall value of items when people are not sure if they’ll always be there. Pushes people to purchase right away. Keeps the cash shop looking new – not like it has old stuff on the shelves. Plus adds more bragging rights to items you own if you did get it.
Thus said tho I agree with the OP. Sry GW2-Anet but I’ve seen cash shops that could hold far more than what yours does – I don’t think you are ready to pull shelves down. But if you are going to do the pulling items out trick it’s considered polite to ensure your “customers” one day those items will make a return visit. If you are pulling the item forever it’s polite to say this item will never return.
So does logging all the way out and back in fix this? It’s not like it is my fault if someone invites me to an abandon map or lies and there is no chest train running which they do often in hopes to get one started and there’s not even a tag or anyone who knows how.
I love my Elementalist. Staff is my choice. Fire does so much damage. Yes, some of you have already started giggling at this point. You know where this goes, don’t you? I also like to climb up high places. I wish I had a camera record of every time I’ve hit “Burning Retreat” on accident and the very strange places I end up because of it. It’s a big brainfart moment that I know better not to hit that button but still my fingers want to dance when the battle get’s heated.
I don’t want you nurfing my ranger because someone else doesn’t play right. Nerf the landscape if you must. I don’t go anywhere near this Dry Top. But don’t punish me for something someone else did.
I suppose that face looks the most humanoid? I wonder how many people make a sylvari really want to be a sylvari or are they just playing around with another character. I only make male chars because I come from the game Dragon’s Dogma where we pawn swap and advertise our characters; most people make females and I just don’t think it is fare to decide females are prettier than males. It’s a very Western mind set. When I play with Easterners there are still more females but at least they give male characters a true go. And not just make the bearded bulky bar fight kinds.
I hate gw2 thief profession. This game is not for thieves. This game favors ranged. The thief initiative bar is the most restrictive nuisance I’ve yet encountered.
I think of this game as a sandy themepark. You are being led you just don’t know it yet, lol. There are definite patterns. The more you play the more you see them.
The transmutation charges along with occasional armor give-aways and SO MANY DYES this mmo has the best in wardrobe possibilities. I wish other games would learn from GW2.
I like the hearts as they are. I really liked them when I first joined GW2. What I cannot get over and no one agrees with me is that I have to complete the map for every character on my account. Why do I have to do what I’ve already done? Let me define EXPLORE. It means “go where no man has gone before.”
As far as Wildstar I just can’t find time to bother with it. I have other games I really enjoy besides GW2 on my consoles. I have nothing against Wildstar but I’m overwhelmed atm.
If they still bother you take screenshots of dialog by hitting “Print Screen.” You can then edit in Paint.net any info you don’t want to show. Make a ticket to Anet. Be prepared to “name names.”
Also note you can leave and join a different EotM map by logging all the way out and back in. Sometimes it will put you in the same map especially during slow hours. Keep trying.
I wanted to know if there’ll be any rewards to people who bought the core game because the way i see we are just worthless. Since the core game now is given for free to people who buy the expansion and who purchased it is not even getting a little discount that to me is not caring at all to old players…
The reward is you are not being restricted. The f2p accounts are so restrictive they should be called TRAIL not f2p.
But when GW2 went f2p I did get an armor set in my mailbox. Don’t know if it was related or not.

I used to be able to pop in and out of parties in the Silverwaste map looking for an active event map. A lot of times I will join party and the map will be full and I can’t warp in. No problem, just look for another. BUT now I get some kind of strange lag that will not let me join after about the forth party try. Seems to think I am still in my last party.
For now trying logging all the way out and back in. Not sure if that will work have not tried yet. But this inconvenience was not there before the latest big patch. Could be my PC is just to slow.
Does anyone else have this problem would like to know before I report a bug?
There is a box on the Trading Post’s buying tab you can check or uncheck “show only available” which I leave checked. I can’t think of why I would want to uncheck it. It would be nice to have another box below that would “show only locked skins.” Because it is tedious to go thru all those many items in search of a skin you haven’t unlocked yet but I like collecting skins.
How many infractions do we get before we find ourselves permanent posters over at Curse GW2GURU? Not that I am wanting to be. I’m not TRYING to get infractions. I didn’t do it on purpose. I can’t help it if I find some things funny.
I want the option to shut them off. Yes I like them. No I don’t want the devs to write weather out. It’s nice to have anything immersive. I just want to shut off weather effects when my PC is acting slow.
Ahhh, this isn’t exactly working very well with SW. I mean I got in once and had a good campaign. But no luck since. I try to join server and I get “full” or end up on the same stupid server where no one is. And what is a teq?
