I don’t do story anymore but if you shut off sound (and I do) for talk it also shuts it off for cutscenes. Can be a real pain because you can’t pause the cutscene to turn your vocals back on. At least that was the way it was long ago when I bothered with GW2 story (I stopped because it doesn’t pay and I’m all about the looty).
This is not the only game that makes the mistake of repeated voice use on a character you will be using repeatedly. Dragon’s Dogma a great game but exactly the same as GW2 where the voice volume turns down cutscene volume as well. Then there was Skyrim with one male voice actor for all npc’s….
Every time I get in these situations I just keep repeating to myself, “be thankful they didn’t hire Gilbert Gottfried.”
Noticed a sudden decrease in population. I can’t do Silverwastes or EotM because there are not enough players logging in to play these. Started this Sat-Sun. I’ve seen highs and lows, but there was always the ability to log out and back in. No matter how many times I log out and in it’s still dead. What gives?
I want to see it. I would like to know what others really see when they see me. I better get in quick while I have the chance. So many complaining – it will get removed. : (
One more thing about name tags. I don’t like them in EotM. Think it would be funner not knowing if the people you were approaching were friend or foe. I would like to be able to hide behind a rock/tree without my name tag giving me away.
This is a thread for people playing on gaming PC’s right? Because I have an old crappy computer and have never set the graphics up. My only complaint is I would like to see an options to shut off weather conditions (rain & snow) that cause lag for me.
Mine did the “cannot connect” thingy but it has done that before. My solution is to shut off the launcher completely. Run Ccleaner. Give about a 5 minute wait (read forums or do whatnot). Come back and click launcher again. Worked perfect.
Make sure you do not have back ground programs running or anything open when launching. Don’t make your PC work for it.
I just woke up from a nap where I was dreaming about kittens, Kidel.2057. Lol.

Okay I get it now. But the wording was confusing on the wiki. And no offense the first thing you said to me was also confusing. Being as I’ve never encountered a system like this before. A “you must look on your guild tab and click a button there” would have made sense. I’m a very tactile thinker. The npc in Lion’s Arch lets you buy points for game money that buys upgrades on your guild tab. Otherwise that npc is useless to someone trying to get their guild bank up and running. The wiki needs better elaboration. Why would I make the mental jump between “you need to upgrade” to the fact that upgrading was something done on a specific guild tab? Basically, you need to click around in the upgrades until you find the one that leads to opening a guild bank and, get this, you have to upgrade TWICE before it will work. For someone single playing (is not inviting anyone into their guild) that isn’t flying their guild flag that means you have to buy guild influence from the npc at Lion’s Arch to be able to afford two upgrades.

All my characters are level 80.
I liked the event but I fight the Mordrem every day in SW and I’m used to their moves. I fight them with every class character. It takes some adjusting per class to get the best mix of def dodge and attack. So I was very excited to see how they moved over a different terrain. I like going over lands that I had once skirted thru at a low level finding Mordrem everywhere.
The rewards were not impressive or discouraging. I would have liked a chance at getting some of the higher rewards but I was slow to start the chase. Had some personal goals to attend to before I got caught up chasing Mordrem.
I LOVE THAT THIS WASN’T SOME STUPID JUMPING PUZZLE !!!! With a slow computer I cannot cannot cannot do jumping puzzles. People don’t understand MY CHARACTERS CAN NOT JUMP.
I love the Mordrem. If Anet made Mordrem plushies I’d huge them all in bed when I sleep.
I want to see this event again some day.
It’s been 5 days and I still don’t have access to the guild bank. I’m a box to pay not a f2p players tho I don’t have HoT.
I like outfits but with the limit on my budget I have to go with char slots as my fav purchase. How many ways I love thee Sylvari.
It is a positive testament to the gw2 devs in making the most interesting character creation in any mmo I’ve played. Only Aion came in close 2nd but that game, tho pretty, was not pve friendly. Very best char creation award goes to Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen console (non-multiplayer but with online player trading and char swap).
I’m new; does the Halloween Event change every year or follow the same exact? If it is exact or similar it will not tax the devs – the programs are already written.
Who else would like an option to get words off the game desk you are not interested in?
I don’t need to see dailies. Events are okay. Mini map is okay (tho I would like to have a key bind to drop mini map). Could we get an options menu to pick and choose what appears? Like icons on the mini map’s border so with one click I could vanish the dailies menu. Have a button icon per title choice (daily, event, etc).
I know someone is going to say, “You can just shrink it,” so in advance no it does not stay shrunk it expands again quickly. Plus I want to see the title gone as well. And someone else is going to say, “Cntr+Shft+H” and no I’m not talking about a complete screenshots clear of no HUDs. I just want to control what I see.
Any one else want this?

Not a day has gone by in the Grove that the map chat has not had at least one person ask this same question, “Is there an Lion’s Arch portal here?” Portals show up on all other maps except for the Groves’s map. Plz fix.
Started a picture thread at Guru come post your characters if you’re proud of their looks!

“Players cannot open a guild vault until 72 hours after they have joined, in part to prevent it from being used by gold sellers.”
Ah, how would that discourage a gold seller? They’d just wait the 72 hours like the rest of us.
Opened up a guild just to store my own stuff and say I have one. Not to invite anyone. But I can’t figure out how to work anything. Says I don’t have access to a guild bank. Don’t see any where I can change my guild emblem. Any help?
Shows on map but when you go to spot no HP.
There’s been a very big push with major corporations lately to get at our telephone numbers. This obviously doesn’t bother most people. But to some of us a phone is like our underwear. It’s ours alone. No touchy. I’m tired of logging in to this and that and it pushing to get at my phone. Puts me on edge. Maybe Anet is innocent but they were the 10th vacuum cleaner salesclerk I’ve had at my cyber door today.
My god doesn’t anyone have a link to what f2p’ers are allowed and not allowed. It’s not like it’s important or anything.
everyone is just so short sighted.
the sales on steam would be extra profit.
the cut will be worth it.What does steam bring to the table that you cant get from just downloading the game yourself?
Most people have signed their souls over to Steam and can’t imagine a world without it.
There’s prob many people with better advice than me but I didn’t know laurels were scarce and I kept buying harvest tools from that npc in the pvp Trading area. Later I decided it was to much of a pain to craft ascended even after lvling up crafts so I needed my laurels to buy the jewelry at the EotM npc. Was mad at myself for spending them. Thought they had no use for me.
Could someone link me the list of things f2p CANNOT do/get plz?
I want mes portals to be a different color for entrance and exit instead of both the same white off pinkish. A greenish glow for entrance and a reddish glow for exit would be nice. That way in EotM we don’t keep going in the portals the wrong way.
There are Hero Points in Silerwaste but you can’t do SW until you are level 80. By lvl 80 you don’t need any more Hero Points. There is really no point in having HP in high lvl zones. Only low lvls want them.
“Linen Farming” looks good if I’m up the middle of the night and no one’s on to play Silverwastes. But I bet selling ecto from salvage of SW loot on a busy day, let alone if there is a chest run, will make me a lot more a lot quicker. So unless I get bored I’ll just let my karma sit and rot in my pouch.
Thx for all the answers!
That’s what they’re saying over at mmorpg.com. If this is true it isn’t right. We want their new blood to join us. Plz send us noobs to eat! I mean play friendly with.
If I take my friend shopping at Walmart and we look at hamster cages together and I decide to buy but he doesn’t because he doesn’t have the money that’s okay. Maybe someday he’ll get a job in an oppressed economy and have money like me. But later that day he calls me excited on the phone and says he needs a ride to the Salvation Army. We show up and they are giving away hamster cages for free!
Is it time for me to:
A) Throw an indignant tantrum and break out singing Donna Summers’ “…Works Hard for the Money.”
B) Pat my friend on the back and a say, “Lucky break, man.”
Welcome aboard f2p’ers. Nice to have you.
Lol, at first glance I read this post title as “Burning Witch.”
Don’t worry. F2p players are used to toxic. We built up a hard outer shell over time. I’m here pay not f2p but I lived the f2p life for a long time. GW2 is one of the nicer game communities. Thanks to people like you who care *grins."
I turned off whisper a long time ago do to guild rep spam.
You know the RMT’s will be yelling in map chat if they can’t whisper. Whisper is kinda useless anyway. Just shut it off. The RMT’s will never know. Hopefully it will cut down on their use of map chat.
Also as one who comes from hundreds of ftp games and was once their avid supporter – do plz keep reporting these RMT’s. It does discourage them.
BUT NOTHING DISCOURAGES AN RMT MORE THAN MAKING NO MONEY – DON’T BUY ANYTHING FROM RMT’s!
Play right, play safe, play responsibly.
I’m not sure any of the Lion Arch vendors are there anymore. Which makes the wiki useless.
I’m excited about HoT and want the devs to do it right. Their focus should be there. But I’m fairly new to GW2 and I have never been in any events. Kinda feel I’m missing out. Just saying.
I had to join and leave many guilds to find ones that fit my playing style. Some nice and some were trolls. Just like any game there are good and bad just warning.
You can have up to 5 guilds max. You can easily make your own guild.
You will find MANY guilds push you to represent them only. They will not let you join other guilds. I usually tell these people “okay” then shut off whisper so they can’t annoy me trying to get me to rep them. I think it’s selfish and creepy of them.
There is advantages to joining a guild that is on your server but the odds of finding one is slim.
I usually stay with guilds if people actively talk in chat. I really like guilds that leave at least one bank space open for all guildy levels full of food. Makes me feel like I’m in Grandma’s kitchen.
What I don’t like about GW2 guilds is the not allowing anyone but the high officers to invite people into the guild. Makes it so I can’t bring in friends easily.
I’ve got lots but if I try to look up what to spend it on all the internet info is old news and threatens to have changed with some update or other. So currently now as of Aug 25, 2015 what can Karma buy/get you?
Looking for guild that is into sharing and caring. Would prefer one that shares ALL guild bank slots with all members of the guild. No exclusions unless you’ve had an issue with stealing and are putting the one who did it (not all of us) on restricted access.
If you only share the first slot go ahead and post but tell me that.
I have other guilds so I will not fully rep you but I’m a full time player and I try to give each guild a day out of my gaming. Note I will organize your bank spaces in order of lowest level items to highest. I can’t help myself.

My Thoughts
“Stealing” is hard to define when everything is free but there is rude. What I feel is rude is to take all the best items and put nothing back.
Example of rude/stealing -
I put in eight 20 slot bags and the next day they are all gone. I look at the history and it says Suzanna1234 took them ALL. Suzanna1234 has never put anything at all in the bank and she has three level 80 chars (not a new player).
Example of not rude/stealing –
One of our guild members is a cook and has put in 20 different types/levels of food items @250 stack ea. Erwin1234 pulls out a 250 stack of Dragon’s Revelry Starcakes and drops them in his inv. Then holding alt he splits stack and takes about half. Erwin1234 puts back in guild bank the other part of the split stack. He plays for a week and runs out. He goes back to guild bank and notices no one else used the other Dragon’s Revelry Starcakes so he takes the rest.
Example of reasonable sort/cleaning –
I see vendor trash, low level armor, and eight crafted exactly the same level 22 scepters. I am going to clear out the stupid junk. Then I’ll probably put in maintenance oils, food, and Quaggan Tonics.
Where is the option to decline this service? all I get is constant “Remind me later” or " accept" options…
This.
And:
@Drow – Your account isn’t on your phone. Your phone is just a receiver for a One Time code text message. Let’s see… what is on there? Geez, it’s not even from a phone number. Sender looks like XXX-XXX. Dang, I wanted to call MO and say hi.
The message says “Your ArenaNet code is: XXXXXXX.” and that’s it. No ties to GW2 accounts or even a game for that matter. If someone did try to access my account from another IP address it will send a new One Time code to my phone. Making the bad guys go “Curses… Foiled again!” and Not get account access.
I hope that helps. It really is very clever…
Umm, no. You just reiterated what Anet’s solution is but did not answer my question. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I NO LONGER HAVE A TELEPHONE – because it got lost, stolen, or I don’t use that phone number anymore because I’ve changed phone services, or it fell in a lake idc what. I’m not trying to be difficult but I’ve used backup systems for password checks in games before and lost my account. How does the system work if my phone number changes suddenly? Is there an account page I can declare a new phone number on? Will that page EVEN WORK if Anet decided to check me because, idk, maybe I went to play the game at the library with the geek club or at my college or at freaken Starbucks so I set off the wrong IP and I’ve forgotten I changed phone services that month and have a new number.
WHAT DO I DO IF MY PHONE NUMBER HAS CHANGED?
And it is not a “one time” message dude. It’s suppose to happen EVERY TIME your IP changes.
For that matter, what if I accidentally delete the SMS before responding?

So what if I loose my phone later and someone hacks my account?
If it is allowed and not in violation of game modding has anyone made a site that keeps track of the Trading Post outside of the game so you can check TP without actually logging in to the game? If so, link plz.
Umm, I’ve never done the dailies. This is the kind of crap that I hate about mmorpg’s. I just want an online game that plays like skyim. Not all this tail chasing.
Did I just get nerfed??
Necromancer
Signet of Vampirism: Fixed a bug that caused this skill to heal for more than its listed value.
Curses Chilling Darkness: This trait now activates on all targets that are blinded by a single area-of-effect blinding strike before it goes on cooldown.
Spinal Shivers: Removed an incorrect unblockable skill fact from this skill. While this skill does remove aegis before striking, it is not unblockable.
Blood Magic Unholy Martyr: Reduced life-force generation from 10% to 7% when transferring a condition.
Corruptions: Self-applied, nondamaging conditions from these skills no longer have their durations increased by condition duration stats.
Right now I really like Silverwastes’ Tangled Labyrinth. Idk it just feels so peaceful there. So what’s your favorite spot?
I am feeling really screwed over by those who joined this game a long time ago. All these forgotten recipes and items that cost so kitten much and “that was an event that is gone from the game now.” So what difference does it make if I level up crafting? In the end only the players that have been here for f*ing forever and jumped thru kitten event hoops get to craft anything that makes real bank.
This game is bs I’m ready to quit. I liked the crafting until this point. Now it’s just an expensive grind. There’s no point. Omg I’ll have to SW or WvW for two months to do this. F* this sh*.
Yeah that guide was very pretty and easy to follow I just started screaming about the point I realized I would need $48 in Intricate Gossamer Insignia’s. I’m now following no guide and trying to do this on my own some CHEAPER way.
I’ve searched web for hours can’t find anything good. I don’t want to spend a lot at TP. I don’t want to use recipes from npc’s that no longer exist in the game or will not be back until Christmas. Can anyone direct me to a really good Leather Crafting Guide for the 400-500 range?
Thx.
Let the canucks & aussies into the game anet!
Umm, seriously greedy to want to have some item all to yourself. Looky at me I’ve been playing this game longer than you so I’m obviously more important than you newb who just joined. Omg who is full of themselves?
Bring back wings or w/e. I’m not interested in them but I’m not a jerk to say others can’t have them.
I remember reading a book, I think it was James Herriott, describing a meal at a small family farm where the wife had to feed a large hardworking family on a budget. He described how she first brought out the starchy foods, the potatoes and breads covered with gravy, then the vegetables, then when everyone was full she brought out the expensive meat and desert.
It’s not so different with a mmo. You have large numbers of hungry (for content) people in your game and there is only so much budget (Dev time and money) to make content to keep them busy. If you give them the “meat and desert” only, your expensive to produce content, then that’s gone in a flash and the next day they log on and want to know what else the Devs have cooked up.
The easy way to make content is to make achievements out of something they would do anyway and stretch it out. They are going to kill scale? Make it an achieve. Going to use a sword? Make it an achieve. They are willing to do something to get a set of armor? Make them do it several times for each piece, stretch it out. It’s a cheap and easy way for a game to stretch out what it has to offer to make it last as long as possible.
This is not bad for an mmo, no more than it was bad for the housewife to fill up her family with the cheap food first. Because when you get down to it either a game will give the players lots of cheap filler or it won’t have many players at all, as they will finish the expensive and hard to produce content and leave in a very short time.
Now I’m hungry for a big bowl of spaghetti.
Many video game recorders show fps.
