I’m gonna make my list from 5 to 1, with 1 being worst design.

5. Story, living story progression, npcs

From Zhaitan to Scarlet, I feel like Anet is trying to tell some story to 10 year old kids. Zhaitan is evil, he make undeads, go kill it. Scarlet is evil insane lunatic, she wanna blow things up, go kill it. I guess I’m getting older, but these type of stories and characters just seem too shallow for me. Its not like story has no potential. There are some interesting and curious things like, you know that purple line across ascalon? Well that was aftermath of awakening of Kralkatorrik. This dragon is so powerful that just walking trough this land, he branded it. Or Jormag made some disaster in shiverpeaks, and it seems that each dragon made some huge disaster by awakening. These things are interesting but I stumbled upon them on youtube, and not in game.
Also watching so called heroes like Rytlock and Logan die to pathetic skelks… How can I respect these epic heroes when all they do is die…

4. Guilds

After introducing guild events, there was huge advantage being in big guild. And I personally prefer small group of people, close friends. We joined bigger guild, and this ruined experience for us. We were nowhere near close to upgrade guild to get ascendant gear so we had no choice. Also, guild events were badly designed. The guild I was in had 500 people and basically I was just running after huge zerg on these events. Not to mention for game called Guild Wars 2, there is almost 0 guild content.

3. World events

I feel like this was one of biggest pve mistakes of all times. Just to name few examples:
Tequatl update was horrible. You couldn’t enter easily with your guild, it was zerg fest, not much of tactical individual play… Also I feel like with random timing anet tried so hard to push this world immersion thing, but they didn’t really think about negative side. Some people have real life, and they got work and other duties so if my guildy have 1 hour spare time, and in that hour teq don’t spawn… well you ruining our fun. Also its not fun making 50 people waiting for half hour hoping boss will spawn. Yea guess what? People have better things to do with their life…
Another example pre-events for dungeon entrances, after I did it 2 times, it gets boring. I just wanna enter dungeon and do it. I didn’t come there to follow Razen the Raider do his half hour walk and kill bunch of npcs…

2. Lack of content update

Now we getting to top issues here. After playing gw2 for about year hardcore, you simply run out of juice. Need some freshness, need new content. I would like to see story develop, new dragon, new continent, underwater cities, new classes, new traits, new skills… I see lots of people talk how they cant wait for new mmo etc, its not about new mmo, people simply want new content. If gw2 announced new expansion that have same amount content as gw2, I bet people would choose that over other mmos.

1. Ascendant (Vertical progression)

Yea this kind of hit the nail for me. Most games start slow on gear. Its all about content, its all about experience. Then suddenly one day slap in the face. Gear that makes u wanna pull your hair out. Grind, grind grind, more grind. Weather its lack of actual content, trying to mask it behind gear progression or some other mysterious reasons it always happen. Ended so many mmos for me. Exotics had it all. You could get it in any way u wanted: crafting, dungeons, wvw tokens, karma, tp, drops. So many different skins, easily accessible (equiped all alts full exotics), great for build experimenting. Ascendant one look, one boring way to get it. Expensive as hell. Worst update ever.

There were masses of people complaining how they got to 80, got geared up and they didn’t know what to do next. It was mostly WoW minded bots who got used to gear progression. .

Your memory is not good as you may think…
There were really few topics (2-3 in months)….even less than those complaining about dungeon being too easy…

Aknowledging a lack of endgame is different from asking vertical progression…

No my memory is good. I remember it was not only on this forum, but guru as well. Almost every time there was some negative post in early days, and people go on about quitting I would notice few people would complain about exactly what I said. They simply looked for that magical “end game” which in their mind is grind for equip or some sort of progression of character. And this was in early stage of game, there was lots of content out and game was fresh.
For many people that is simply end game content, grind for gear and its sad and pathetic, but whats more pathetic is anet actually giving in to those kind of ideas.

I remember when they first introduced ascendant equip, and when I saw just how much grind I needed to make backpack, I was considering quitting game. And I also remember part of reason why they introduced it.
There were masses of people complaining how they got to 80, got geared up and they didn’t know what to do next. It was mostly WoW minded bots who got used to gear progression.
Just this morning I crafted my second ascendant weapon and it costed me about 40g and lots of grinding materials. So for those who don’t know just how much 40g is in GW2 world, I’d say I never played game that charged me this much for one piece of equipment.
Now before introduction of ascendant gear, I thought GW2 had best gear system of all time. Not only u had option to get equipment on numerous ways (dungeons, karma, crafting, drops, from tp, wvw…) but also u had plenty of looks to choose from. Exotic is in my opinion the best possible gear system of all times.
It was easy to access, it wasn’t boring because u could get it on different ways. It was so great I geared 7 alts fully exotic, and my main had 4 different sets. It was great for experimenting builds.
Ascendant killed all of that. No more experimenting, no more easy relaxing game play. U enter in bot mode and go grind champions. 40g for one weapon + grind materials for one weapon is insane. For same amount i could equip 2 characters with exotics.

I play gw2 mostly to check new updates now. I’m also disappointed with content updates. Last 4 updates included:
- halloween ( same exact event from last year) – no new content
- toxic – one event content
- toxic 2 – 5 minute dungeon content
- fractal – one new fractal
8 weeks we had one event, one mini dungeon and one fractal. They are masking content in achievement check box and gear progression. I hope things get better cause I enjoyed this game year ago.

Yea what I don’t understand is, why is Abaddon not teaming up with Gandara. Its obvious last week Deso vs Gandara vs Abaddon will decide who will be first Gandara or Deso. And this week its fight for 3rd spot, Abaddon vs Aurora.
If Abaddon get second place this week they secure 3rd spot, and if Gandara help them then they should repay by focusing Desolation in last week.
Also Aurora have 2 easy matchups next 2 weeks and they will get 10 points there for sure.

I think most of whine comes from younger generation that didn’t get to experience this type of game. Obviously there are few of older guys too, but I think you guys got carried by the moment.
For me W2 is by far better then W1. W1 was just too, you could run it in about 10 minutes. After day or two of W1 everyone was just farming it multiple times with alts, and super adventure box became super farming box.
W2 reminds me on old school games and really brings up those memories.

Stop saying this crap. It does not. With the exception of some of the worst games of the era, no classic platformer, not even Pitfall, required pixel-edge-of-platform attacking and pixel-perfect jumping.

One of the alligators in SAB requires that you stand almost entirely off the level geometry in order to hit it, and there are several spots where you must stand in locations that are covered by rapids in order to make a jump, with no indication that these are actually safe.

Eh I can just name few games that this reminded me of:
Sega
- alex kid – was awesome game, it was hard and you had to finish it in one run. You couldn’t save, if u lose all lives you have to start over again.
- sonic – it was easier but it still reminded me with all those jumps
- psycho fox – another legendary game where I sharpened my jumping skills =).

SNES
- marios, donkey kong, zeldas all had their hard moments but that was fun, overcoming those challenges.

Also I remember playing Tomba on PS, Sab reminded me of that game too. True old school players will enjoy in SAB, and for others… I guess whining it is =).

I honestly think we should at least have 1 viable build for each class first. But problem is there is few tournies going on to even see builds that pros are using.
I wish there was league with 20 or 30 teams and we had like 15 games every week. This would help balance team. They could gather more data of what is really used or what is underused.
But from limited resources it seems right now mesmer and ele need some love. Other 6 classes we see much more usage.

So in my opinion, ele and mesmer need defined role and one build that is viable. Some major buffs like necros got.
Necros maybe need slight nerf, problem is I find them so much fun to play. I wish we could buff all classes to necro level.
And ranger is so boringly easy. Its not only problem that pro teams use them, but they are so effective on lower level too. You don’t need almost any skill to make it work. So I hope for some kind of rework here, and make ranger more complex and rewarding.

I’m like against 90% of these ideas. Last thing I need is infestation of pve players that only try to get achievements done, and in the process make me lose. Like for example killing someone, but waiting for shatter cd so that you can get that achievement kill with shatter… or whatever nonsense ideas u guys posting here.
Pvp achievements are mostly related to winning, and that means I can focus all my resources only on that goal. That is enough for me. I love the way achievements are now, only thing I would change for example is amount of points. 10 points for Marauder and same 10 points for mercenary doesn’t make sense. Or 10 points for winning from 5k to 10k tournament matches. This should be way higher.

Eh but so far I could just avoid zergy situations, I have ok fps in pvp, I choose server where wvw is not too zergy. Everything worked fine for me so far.
But this patch, the most challenging pve thing and I badly wanna play it but I cant cause there is 100+ players and monsters zerging under my feet. I really don’t understand why this is not instanced.

Ok so my friends and I soloed t4 in both achiev categories in about 30 minutes. I did it on my warrior, and my friends used mesmer thief and engi. It is doable on any class and it is easy.
You don’t need a lot of time, only thing u need is to use brain.

I would completely remove Dhuumfire trait, but also I would remove engi trait as well. If every single engi and necro use those traits = op.
I would start from these traits and see how things go from there.

To me worst thing about warrior is their special ability “adrenaline”. Lets do some comparison with other special abilities:

Guardian (Virtues): burning, regen, aegis, heal on demand, aegis on demand for all team, when traited virtues are even more godly, stability, remove conditions…

Elementalist (Attunement): extra 10 skills, bunch of buffs on swap attunement, 10 extra skills (this deserve second mention)

Ranger (Pet): extra unit, extra skills, when traited pet takes condis…

Thief (Steal): insta tp to target, extra skill, when traited do dmg, enter in stealth….

Engi (belt kits): extra 4 skills, 4 different kits that are 5 skills each, bunch of buffs on swap kit

Mesmer (Illusions): extra 4 skills, phantasms + clones… bunch of effects with them…

Necro (DS): extra life pool, extra very strong 5 skills, lots of traited bonuses…

Ok now lets take one example of Warrior special ability:
Strike your foe with an uppercut and gain fury.
Damage Damage: 480
Level 1 adrenaline: 5 s
Level 2 adrenaline: 10 s
Level 3 adrenaline: 15 s
Range: 150
So its one skill that do pathetic dmg, need 3/4 of a second to hit and give u 15 second of fury if u got full adrenaline bar. Compare this to any other class and u get picture. Ok maybe I picked worst adrenaline skill, but still its one skill. Also on top of this, compared to other classes where traits complement their special ability, warriors is very opposite. Grandmaster traits related to adrenaline = do not use adrenaline skills.

While playing warrior in pvp I felt that they lack skills. If I would compare them to engis or ele, as an engi u never run out of options. After u use your pistol skills, u go back to some of kit, then u get extra 4 belt skills and by the time u done that your cd are ready again. As warrior, u use your skills which have high cds anyways and then u are walking sandbag. Not only is this weak but its also boring.
My suggestion for warriors:
- rework adrenaline skills, maybe add another skill for each weapon so we have at least 2 skills. Change those boring passive traits into something that makes u wanna use adrenaline skills.
- maybe add another utility tree for warriors similar to engi kits. I feel like warrior utilities are pathetic compared to other classes.

I’ve also done this jump 5-6 times now… 4 times successfully, but no +1 to Master Diver. I jumped from the middle of the platform, the edge, where the goggles were exactly, and off of the pipe (which made the goggles come off as I phased through the mountain). What do I have to do to get my +1? It’s stressful and disappointing, to say the least.

Similar thing happened to me. First time jumped in water didn’t get achievement. Second time I used one of skills from goggles (spinning in air) and got achievement when I landed to water.

Just think of it like this: no mmo ever made it to be esport. Gw1 was nothing. Small community of people that really loved it, but never made it big for whatever reasons. Biggest thing to esport was WoW but it failed.

1. Fixing various glitches, but mainly making already existing maps viable. Fix terrain on Spirit watch, fix water on Temple, also people in general don’t like to play in water so maybe stop making water maps.

2. Someone already said and I agree, let us control amount of effect. Sometimes it feels like its light show especially when 2 eles meet.

3. I guess different type of pvp. But I’m not into full separation. For example if they made map where 5 players gets separated into 5 mini arenas and duel. First team to win 10 duels is winner. And stuff like that.

Most of people love new content. Expansion worth of content should be charged by money. But what I expect is, new cities, new areas, new class, new race, new legendaries, new pvp modes, new wvw map etc…
Think about it like supporting anet and in same time getting something back, and lets be honest content of gw2 is by far bigger then other pathetic mmos that are getting out lately.

I think they should change 2 things.

1. Add decay. Its funny how people that played 10 games or so, somehow end up high in rankings. Also people that stop playing improve in ranking. These things should not happen. If someone is not playing for week, slowly start lowering his rank. If someone is not playing for a month remove his rank a lot. If someone is not playing for more then a month, maybe just remove him all together.

2. Adjust rank gain/loss. To me this one is biggest problem. I only solo q and I’ve been in range of rank 700 – 85% lately. Problem is if I win 2 games, I’ll jump to top 800, if I lose 2 games I’ll fall to 90%. This is just ridiculous. I had once 2 wins: 1 loss, and when I checked leaderboard update I fell from 520 to 850 spot or something like that.
This is bad for all high rank people as well. They are afraid to play if their trusted team is not with them, because if they lose they gonna drop fast. And this is why people play tournaments less and less, and play arenas more. If you want people to play tournaments for fun, then u should make it so that u cant drop more then 5 spots per game. Also u cant raise more then 5, that way people will mass games trying to get up but at the same time wont be afraid to lose because its only 5 spots they losing.

I don’t know if u noticed but gw2 competitions are just beginning with custom arenas. You would be one of first to start project like this, and because of that you should be much more flexible.

I understand can you outline more ways that we could be more flexible?

For example I think that players prefer to have only 5 people in team instead of 7.

- ~ Each round of tournament played over a week
- ~ Default time e.g. NA (8pm PST on Friday)
- ~ If teams cannot organise a time before default time they must play at default time
- #Minimum amount of players per team 5?

I will place a note but I think it’s still necessary that teams have substitutes because usually each round of the tournament is played over a week and it’s hard to organise teams for optimal time arrangements so this could mean that teams would have to play at a time when they don’t have their starting 5 players.

You are going in right direction. The less limitation teams have the better. Team can have substitute, but 5 minimum is best rule.
Also about 32 teams, I’m not sure gw2 have that many teams ready to play in serious leagues. In future if it become more popular, who knows maybe new teams will be born.
In my opinion if you have 16 teams best model would be 4 groups of 4 teams, first 2 teams from each group advance to knock out tournament phase.
But I’m not sure euro or american server can have this many teams interested for now. Maybe if they combined somehow.

so you cannot finnish pvp daily currently since you need to finish 5 out of 6 but two are bugged. Should be reverted to the old dailies. 4 of 4 was good enough.

I hope they remove this useless 4 unique map daily. Now many people will choose that instead of 2 tournament matches win…
And anyways I noticed less people play tournaments because one loss can mean 350 rank lost (this happened to me).

Now that thief can steal boons, and warrior have trait that pretty much counter boon stacking meta ele might have big trouble.
Think about it, endless protection, vigor and regen might be heavily countered by thief and warrior.

From what I read, warriors aren’t notably better.
They can stack a few more pluses to dmg but all of their weaknesses are still entirely there.
They are terrible against conditions, kite-able, and have generally pretty bad dmg mitigation.

If warriors had a way to strip boons I would be scared.
They can be CC’ing beasts, so given a way to pull off stability they could end up as a force to be reckoned with.

Yes but now in 1v1 situation vs ele, ele might even have to run away from circle. Until now you could toy with warrior on circle. But this all depend how much dmg bonus warrior get per boon.

I only solo q, and in last week i got from 75% to rank 850 -. Also I play guardian.
Another thing is that those ranks you see in game are useless. My in game rank is 35, and many times I won vs 50
people. Those ranks indicate how much someone play, and are not indicator of skill.

Maybe 2 hour is too harsh, instead I would rather make penalty in form of rank loss.
For example if you lose game, but you stay and fight, then you lose normal amount of rank.
But if you leave then you lose 3x rank. That way leavers will sink to bottom and we wont have to deal with them in higher and more serious rank range.
Also I feel like solo q ranking is nonsense. Maybe add like filter on page, where u can see solo q ranking, something like amateur league.

Not trying to claim that I’m amazing or anything, but I’ve managed to progress up to #298 atm doing solo queue as War. Some if it’s luck of the draw, I only have 60% wins, and matches are almost always very close.

TBH I think it just comes down to making small, good decisions more than anything. There’s been a lot of close losses where I think of something stupid I did that could have got some more points. Usually just choosing to fight outnumbered when I could use my mobility to take the other point.

Not to discredit you, but seems like lots of people get to top 1000 in american servers by solo q. In euro its very hard like that. I’m fighting pre made teams or 3 or 4 players already at 80-90% range on euro. I wonder if there is any player on euro that go top 1000 just by solo q.

I don’t understand why people expect different results… I mean obviously if you face team that use team speak, have already prepared strategies that work well together, and are playing together most of the time, and if you joining as solo q, no voice com no strategy, not to mention no experience playing together most likely you gonna lose.
I can say for euro servers, its very hard to enter top 1000 as solo q. And I’m not talking about playing with one buddy or two, I’m 95% of time solo q, and I’m around 90% rank cant cross this mark yet. Also I’m way over 50% in win/loss, closing to 60%.
But just so you understand how hard on euro is, look at first team, they are around 65-70%. Even for number one team they are not so dominant because competition is really though.

Leaderboards are strange to say the least. I was watching them yesterday and one of my friends was rank 28. Maybe 5 minutes later he was not even in top 100. So that means:

a) Difference between 28 and 100 is like almost nothing
b) Losing to lower elos if you for example play solo q will murder your rank

I’m afraid this option b is closer to truth. If you are not playing with your premade team and wanna solo q, then there is chance you will end up in some mix with lower elo players. If you lose, you might lose too many points. That’s why you see people with less games in ranks, simply because not playing = not losing rank.

Suggestion: – lower losing elo by a lot, and increase gain by winning. But not too much so that people who mass games gain advantage. But also u cant have players who never play game have advantage too. Need to balance this better.

Ok this was my mistake actually, my friend was 28 on wins ranking and not actual rankings. So scratch everything I said. Maybe rankings are good.

Its strange you posted this on forum where mostly spvp people read, but question is more addressed to wvw people. I spend probably equal amount of time in wvw and spvp, and I can say that spvp is much more enjoyable to me.
But there are many reasons why people prefer wvw over spvp. First thing its much more casual, and there are always more casual players. Another point is, you have goal in wvw and over one week you are trying to help your server gain as many points as possible. Spvp is kind of like short burst of fun. Once you finish match its over, and then you jump on next one. You gain nothing and you have nothing to achieve. (Maybe this will change once leaderboards are up).
Another positive thing of wvw is that you are always teaming up with same people. Usually you will end up playing with same people because those same people love wvw. In spvp unless you run team, you will always get some random people and after match you will forget their names. So I’d say wvw is much more casual and user friendly. There is not much pressure.
Spvp is much more competitive, and for someone who love to compete more then anything this model is better.

What do you like about the show? I love that you can learn something, and I love general idea.
What could be improved? As people said before you can put your volume up, first video I could barely hear you on max. Also I think limiting video to 10-12 minutes would be nice.
Which players would you like to see in future episodes? Anyone willing to share their build.
Which builds/classes would you like to learn? Well believe it or not, I have goal to reach champion title with every class. So far I’ve finished warrior and now I’m 100+ wins on my ranger. The next class I want to play is guardian bunker so you already have what I want xD.
Does my voice annoy you? No your voice is actually fine.

I would like to add something. In future you could organize 1v1, 2v2 tournaments. When custom arenas come we will be able to enjoy without disturbance and you can create something like that. I hope you don’t limit yourself to just build videos, but also expand to other types. I subbed to your channel and wish you best.

There is both sides of this. I rarely rage or even get angry, but I know players who simply looking for something to blame when they are losing. These players have kid mentality and usually ruining experience for others.

But also there are players who are bad and wont accept advice or listen. Like 2 or 3 days ago I solo q and nobody in team is saying anything. So I call henge, and I say to others to go keep. Well match started I rush to henge, and one of my teammates is going after me. So we both are standing on henge, and first thing that crossed my mind was, this is just someone who is new to tournies and usually played spvp where everyone just circle around and cap. I explain him there is no reason for 2 people to stand on node especially since no enemy came.
Next match I get teamed with same guy. This time I talk a bit more and explain one person should go henge, and again nobody call it so I said that I’m gonna take henge and others go keep. Same thing happened. As soon as I enter in circle I see the same dude running towards me. Worst thing is I saw last game he was rank 18. Somewhere in the middle of match we are getting owned btw, we downed enemy necro and I’m going for the stomp, he fears me and guess what my team mate doing… hes autoattacking downed player with staff (btw he was also necro). So after fear is done I run again and stomp. Now I understand that I’m dealing with level 18 player who don’t know how to stomp, don’t have any tactical knowledge of this game, and what is worst don’t wanna take any advice. Irony of the things was, 3rd game in a row I play against him, and my team wins like 500: 20 or something. And this show you how one player can make you lose badly, which is not nearly as bad as how attitudes of some players are just sad.

Have to say today has been one of the worst days of the week as it seems both servers don’t want us to have second place. I haven’t seen a single tower being capped on dzag+GH’s side in eb and we constantly get pushed. We’re also getting all the heat on our borders while the other borders stay nicely coloured green/blue.

I’m not calling out alliances or anything, but today has been pretty much getting hit by both servers while the other servers barely touch eachother. Any reason why GH seems adamant on not letting us have second? This is basically how most of Rof sees it atm.

Again, can’t say enough how nice it is to have a match up that is as balanced as this one tho.

Reason why borders looked like this was that Rof had almost 0 defense, while Dz defended very hard. I know because I was switching between those 2 borders yesterday in prime.
We took briar and bay from your border almost like there was nobody on map, while we couldn’t take hills from dz for good 2 or 3 hours. It was long siege, but Dz simply defended hard. So overall reason why borders looked like that was because Rof don’t have numbers.

In my opinion it should be something like 150 points for losing team and 300 points for winners. How many times I saw 2 people capping one point… these points produce too many greedy noobs.

Some things that annoy me:
- 5v5 but one of players is just standing afk all match
- 5v4 (this seems to be fixed because now if someone dc before match u get new player)
-5v5 but one guy leave in middle of match rage quit

Solution:
- implement replay system, so that after match we can somehow store that match (similar to dota 1).
- we can submit replay to anet and report afkers
- if someone do like 2 times afk or rage quit – ban 2 or 3 days

I doubt that after rank 10 it matters that much. I honestly don’t even watch these ranks anymore. They should probably remove this rank from being visible after match end, and put new hidden rank.
This is mostly people whining and cant deal with loses, just finding some excuses.

warrior have much better range weapons then guardian longbow and rifle are quite good on warrior guardian got the worst ranged potential

It all depend on style, warriors usually go for full burst and then rifle is almost useless. You depend on hitting adrenaline skill and then you become rooted, easy to interrupt or dodge. I saw some longbow builds, but I’m not buying that.
On the other hand guardians play protector mode, while trying to support. Staff or scepter/shield focus are kind of perfect fit for that. As a guardian you’re not trying to burst something, but you trying to survive and support. On first look their ranged weapons look weak because no burst potential, but they are good for different purposes.

In GW2 you don’t have full separation of melee vs range because every class have access to range and melee.
Except for maybe warrior which is mostly in melee mode, every other class is hybrid or fully range. For example thief will be lot of time on shorbow and is considered melee, mesmer will be lots of time on sword but is considered ranged, guardian will use staff or scepter shield/focus and so on… GW2 did good job in my opinion getting rid of this separation.
