Ranger vs. Mesmer, please read OP

There is no possible way a Ranger could kill my Mesmer. I was killing level 80 Rangers by level 40 in WvW. For that matter any 2v1 situation where the second opponent is the Ranger, I’ll ignore the Ranger until I kill the other person, then easily kill the Ranger. The only time this is an issue is if I’m facing a D/D Elementalist, or a good Warrior at the same time I’m facing the Ranger.

Yes, but a lot of rangers are just AWFUL, I didn’t realize how bad a lot of them were until I started pugging with other rangers, my god… They’d spend the entire instance with a dead pet, and get downed at least twice each fight, I might as well have brought under leveled players…

Fight a ranger that’s actually good and they’ll wreck you.

Lick Wounds too strong atm

When it works right now it is much too powerful, you might want to tone it down a few notches. I believe this is due to the health increase and lick wound buff at the same time but the heal just feels “a bit” over the top. Also, I wish to know that if the pet is rez’d by the ability if it is supposed to revive you, just don’t want to report something if its working as intended. Thanks!

Just stop. It is not too strong. It is right where it needs to be. I understand your concern but you have to remember that other classes has pretty potent downed abilities (excluding engi) so I feel it was the correct thing by making lick wounds what it is now

Engis have one of the strongest downs out there… They can interrupt someone in PvP 3 times, and the 3 skill kittening launches everyone near you and does a ton of damage…

I do agree though that lick wounds is now fairly strong now, if only it worked more…

The Gift of GW2

Its a lot fancier if you bought the physical cd with the box and all, and gift wrap it with some kind of scented stationery to the best of your ability.

I’m not sure if its still being sold, but getting the deluxe edition box set would be even more fancier.

The impact of receiving digital gifts is like ‘meh’ compared to physical ones.

Yeah, but I don’t really wanna drive 3hours to give it to them now that we are on break and no longer in the same town lol.

Thanks!

Such a troll, but I’ll bite. Lick Wounds can be interrupted if the pet takes any direct or AoE damage. Compared to the other profession’s downed abilities, its grossly UNDERpowered.

Damages don’t stop the pet during Lick Wounds

roll a ranger pls, damage stop lick wounds.

Damage only stops it if you kill it (I think, unless they changed it to work like S&R where they’ll keep rezzing after death), however a nice daze makes it so the pet no longer uses the skill.

That being said rangers are the ONLY prof that gets major damage increases when they play to the gimick of their ranged weapon (longbow = be far away, axe = be near a wall/second enemy shortbow = flank).

Is that really the case? Thief shortbow has the same gimmick as axe (more dmg if it can bounce back). I would also note that thieves have 2 traits that effect attacks on flanked targets vs rangers 1 (5% dmg/7% crit chance vs 10% dmg respectively). I’d be curious how thief pistol 1 compares to short bow 1 if both are traited for it and flanking.

Thieves arrows will not bounce off of the environment though, which puts the rangers axe at an advantage in most situations where a thief needs to be against multiple people (which is what their shortbow is for) and we have 10% while flanking, 5% per boon, 10% while endurance is full (those 3 can all be applied at once), x% while health is over 90%(don’t know the % boost) and a few other gimmicky boosts that thieves don’t have as well like masters bond.

The ranger is a very gimicky prof and I feel a lot of people don’t play to said gimmicks and thus the QQ

Oh, if it was a “you get to use everything” fight, I think ranger would kick the mesmer across the map.

lol how so?

Ranger would have 2 invulns, can Rez himself 4 times, 50% up time of protection 100% on swiftness, fury, regen etc etc, it just flat out wouldn’t be fair, not to mention that because rangers are jacks of all trades and can deal some pretty sexy damage in full support builds and have some nice group support with burst damage builds having EVERYTHING would put them way above the Mesmer.

It does seem silly to design a bow and class around DOTs and then restrict the way you apply those DOTS where the only other class that has these kinds of limitations are thieves really, and they gain insanely more DPS and burst on top of it.

While I don’t mind the mechanic because in PvE it’s easy enough to handle, I’m not sure I understand why the mechanic is there either.

I think a lot of people overlook the fact that the short bow has such a rate of fire, so a bleed on autoattack of a bow is much stronger than a bleed on autoattack of something like a pistol.

It also changes things up and keeps the ranger from just standing in one place spamming auto attack.

While valid points, the Ranger’s damage with those auto-attacks is also much lower than the damage from Warriors and Rogues who still get the bleeds and such without directional limitations.

Comparing bow damage? Not when you take into account pets.

Even with pet damage, it’s still below that of the other classes. I really wish real DPS meters were available as unlike the Ranger class, the Warrior and Thief, when using their abilities, isn’t a DPS loss unlike the Ranger who’s only option is auto attack at the moment.

But yes, even with the pet factored in the damage isn’t close enough. Even if you presume 100% uptime which is impossible.

Comparing ranged dps from a Ranger to melee dps of a thief/war? Yea, thief/war will do more damage, but if you’re comparing to them at range, then we deal equal or better.

If you’re having trouble with this though, feel free to ask for advice.

Just tacking this on there, Anet has flat out said Melee damage will be better than ranged damage because ranged has the added survivability of being far away. That being said rangers are the ONLY prof that gets major damage increases when they play to the gimick of their ranged weapon (longbow = be far away, axe = be near a wall/second enemy shortbow = flank).

Being both a ranger and a Mesmer… It’s tough, it’d rely greatly on who got the opening, was it a surprise? Was the ranger holding a point down an prepared? Is it close quarters etc.

If its one of the many rangers on this forum the Mesmer would win because a lot of the rangers here don’t know what they’re doing, but I don’t think that’s the case….

I’d say ranger has more scenarios that give them an advantage so ranger.

If Heals Rezzed Defeated Pets...

in Ranger

Posted by: Durzlla.6295

Durzlla.6295

The thing is, pets don’t die that often as people say if you care about them a bit, even with 0 points into BM.

Sure there are a couple of fights in PvE where the pet will be dead most of the time but that’s quite rare for the most part and the easiest fix would be lowering the damage done to our pets on these “very few” fights. The only encounteer I found to be a pet killer so far is on the last boss from charr fractal, which does the AoE which covers more range than our ranged pets have insta killing them every now and then.

If anyone has their pet dead most of the time, sorry but that’s because of poor pet management. As for PvP they rarely die unless you send them into a zerg.

However if the healing skill didn’t revive the pet directly but instead it healed the downed HP to about 80-90% that would be more like it since you could wait until the pet regens by itself the rest of the bar to rez… On GW1 you could rez a pet…yeah, but you didn’t have two pets and you didn’t have the ability to switch pets to adapt to the situation.

In GW1 pets were entirerly cosmetic, a wolf and Moa would have the SAME stats and all the pet attacks were picked by you from a universal pool, for example I could decide to bring poisonous bite or Enraged Lunge regardless of my pet being a Moa, bear, wolf, lizard etc so there was no need for multiple pets.

100% agree, in both GW1&2 all my damage is on the pet (I provide support fire and the such) so if my pet gets owned I do 0 damage until he’s back up, it also dampens my support by quite a bit because it means I lose my 100% uptime on fury and regen, my aoe heal, and some vuln and knockdowns, that’s pretty major especially seeing as how I have no way of dealing with it like in GW1 where it was burn a decent amount of energy to Rez the pet.

To be honest, It would be nice to see the ability to slot a F5 shout, so we would have to choose one of them and would not have access to the others. which would make the choice an interesting one. however this would mean that we would need more skills…. which may not be a bad thing seeing as we lack any utility defend button (excluding signet of stone with traits)

Protect me is one of the best defensive utilities out there, granted its probably animal abuse, but still!

Not a fair comparison, I don’t do kitten for damage (for good reason mind you) but I can maintain perma fury, swiftness, and regen for my group as well Mass Rez + condi purge 4 times every 4 minutes, which also grants huge amounts of healing over that period of time (420hp per second for 60 seconds) not to mention the AoE condi removal, the 10 stacks vuln, poison, perma cripple on 1 target, aoe cripple, granting 3stacks of might everytime I heal, etc.

non-condition dmg Build options ?

in Ranger

Posted by: Durzlla.6295

Durzlla.6295

People should understand, that Shortbow is good at non-condition builds.

oh that`s good news! once I hit 80, I will give it a try.

Right now I am struggling with the undeads (I am lv 74) and using sword / horn & longbow.

I did try a spirit setup with my sword / horn & 2h sword, but it was pretty cumbersome to keep summoning the spirits, and they seam to die pretty fast not to mention agro the damn undeads…

Shortbow does more dmg than the longbow unless you can hit the max range req on LB, this is using optimal LB rotation vs SB auto meaning that with SB you can more easily manage other stuff.
And if you’re pvping you won’t hit the range requirement.

The issue with sword/x is that it’s very clunky. You can’t dodge out of the leap animation meaning you’re exposing yourself.

Personally I run full berserker gear 30/25/0/0/15 traits iv ix xi, i x, vi. In pve I’ll change the master trait in skirm to v.

If you don’t have sword on auto cast you don’t have that downside because you’re able to dodge roll in between or use a leap as an escape, however you are still vulnerable mid leap (which isn’t very long if you’re actually in Melee)

Is Sword 'Root' Ever Getting Fixed?

in Ranger

Posted by: Durzlla.6295

Durzlla.6295

They’ve actually said the sword is working fine, and there’s nothing wrong with it, so I highly doubt anything is going to be done which is good.

This is part of my original question – has someone officially said that it’s working as intended? I haven’t seen anything that says it is (or isn’t). If it is, then so be it (whether I like it or not), but I’ve never seen anything to say that the ‘rooting effect’ (even if that’s not the primary purpose) is intentional. If you have a link to where it was said, that would be great.

The “rooting” is infact intentional, it’s a LEAP skill, you LEAP 400yds at your target, the only reason you’re “rooted” is because you’re playing with the auto attack on, and as such you’re constantly leaping at your target which is what’s not allowing you to move elsewhere. Putting your 1h sword attack on auto cast is like putting your 1h sword #2 skill on auto cast, it’s just stupid because you’ll be leaping all over the place and just get kittened over if you need to evade anything.

@idiotclous or w/e your name is, if they were to make it not “root” you the sword auto attack would just flat out suck. The only thing that really makes it good is the fact you stick to an enemy like glue, the first hit is a normal sword swing, the second you leap 400yds and cripple them, the third you leap 440yds and apply might to your pet. What this does is makes it so if they don’t evade the first hit, they’re going to eat the ENTIRE combo should you choose to use it all. And idk how you’d be getting CTS from spamming 1, i mean kitten, i spam 1 on all my characters and all my weapons and i’m not getting CTS so that may be more of a health issue you should deal with than a gameplay issue.

Legendary Pets

in Ranger

Posted by: Durzlla.6295

Durzlla.6295

This is a great idea. I don’t think there should be any stat boost. It would just be a vanity option, like how legendary weapons are: no better than exotics currently. Although it would be weird to “craft” a pet.

You don’t have to craft it. Its not a weapon, its a living thing that fights with you perhaps for rangers to get a legendary pet they have to track it down, and do a bunch of things in order for the legendary pet to agree to fight with….. lots of possibilitys

This, they can make us have to track it down, fight it (1v1 no outside help), track it down again, try to befriend it etc.

All these steps they should have us need to get an item for, something that requires a metric kitten ton of items for to ensure not every ranger and their grandma can get it, but it should also be hard gameplay wise too to ensure someone doesn’t just buy their way up.

in Ranger

God I hope not, because it’s not a root it’s a 400yd leap, just because -YOU- leave it on auto cast doesn’t mean the players who don’t should be punished for your inability to adapt. They’ve actually said the sword is working fine, and there’s nothing wrong with it, so I highly doubt anything is going to be done which is good.

PS: both the 2nd and 3rd skills are leaps (which is what “roots” you because you’re kinda rushing forward) to make it better if you “miss” (or just clip your target) you’re given a second chance to use the leap, if you chain it together you can use it as a 1680yd gap opener.

Either take the furthest target or have no target (while having no auto targeting on) and it’ll pierce all the way until it hits the floor, it recieves NO damage reduction and it’ll apply effects to ALL it hits.

IE: if your next attack applies burning and it’s piercing everyone hit by that arrow will be burned.

Keen Edge
Current: Use Sharpening Stone when your health reaches 75%
Suggestion: Use Sharpening Stone when your health reaches 50% and gain quickness, duration 3 seconds (internal cooldown 30 seconds)
My guess should fix Sharpening stone for 5sec of active skill any ATK will bleeding and after end effect you will got next 5Atk bleeding.

However for steady focus I’d say make it 50% should be 5% and 100% should be 15% mostly because otherwise I’d feel it’s to strong for an adept trait.

warrior long bow has a shorter distance than the ranger longbow does, already tested it, and not all bow attacks will hit from the max distance, see above

Keep in mind a lot of the warrior attacks are ground targeted or Arcless making it so they are designed to ONLY hit in that range and as such will either despawn at the max range or just not be allowed to be shot period.

Your auto attack however you should be able to force into a longer range.

An untraited raven always dies in combat

Is there some bug in the game that kills all ravens just before they exit their in-combat status, or is it just that you have such difficulty keeping avian pets alive that you can’t even kill critters without your pet dying?

Um, ravens are made of kittening paper and get torn to shreds by a light breeze let alone some guy swinging a sword at them, but if you put points in them they become quite a bit sturdier so shrugs

With some pets you’d ABSOLUTELY be able to control when your pet goes down, especially if you weren’t a BM build.

I didn’t think there was a cooldown associated with this, or are you meaning that if they did add a cooldown that it should be separate?

No there is a CD, it’s around 10s or so (i haven’t had a good place to test it that wont damage my armor), so if my pet dies and then 8 seconds later i go downed i wouldn’t get my healing spring, which could possibly save me, all because my pet died first.

Also, if you’re just worried about your armor, you could always remove it.

The only ranged traits ranger have is longbow/harpoon and offhands range increase. None of them affect shortbow and offhands trait works fine (except crippling talon which does autocast but says out of range), longbow trait also works fine.

So yeah, go fraps it

I can tell you that longbow true range with trait is about 1900 and shortbow true range is about 1600, autocast however stops at 1500 and 1200 respectively.

Actually longbow range with traits is around 2200-2500, shortbow you hit the nail on the head.

EDIT: Thought i’d include this, but just like in GW1 with bows and thrown weapons, if you are on a higher level ground than your victim you get a boost to range (not damage though ), this bonus is what gives you that extra range where it caps out, shortbow -might- be able to get up to 2000 but i haven’t been able to accurately hit anything from that far with a shortbow…

PS: Just like in GW1 spells (and rifles as well since they have no arc) do not increase in range while under these circumstances.

The buffs from the spirits are quite good. Sadly, until they get some sort of boost to survival, a support build that uses spirits can quickly be messed up by something like a big boss AoE.

Lol damn you’re quick xD, although this is true, if you’re crafty you’ll make it so only one spirit gets taken out per AoE and if you wanna be morbid about it the death of your spirit can be the life of your ally.

Spirit skills confuse me

I don’t play Ranger on my main, so I haven’t spent too much time playing around with skills and traits, but just by looking at the skill descriptions of the Spirit skills, I don’t understand why anyone would use them. 20% chance to activate a seemingly trivial bonus? And 20% chance from what? Taking damage, dealing damage, every few seconds? I just don’t understand. Would anyone care to explain how these skills can be utilized effectively?

Well it’s 35% for everyone within the spirits range to apply the buff, stone is 3s protection, sun is 3s burning on your ATTACK (piercing and ricochets apply it to multiple people), storm is 7s swiftness, frost is 10% dmg increase (no ICD).

They’re really strong the more people you have proccing them, however they’re pretty squishy so id suggest hiding them in the back ground and using their active to punish people that run over to try and kill it, they can also be healed via healing spring and can make fairly good meat shields if the going gets tough.

Yea, if it’s between my pet getting it or me getting it, then I’d rather have it.

However, why not make it so it works when you OR your pet goes down?

I’d be ok with this so long as they each had a separate CD

Yes, you can aim with your bow like in Oblivion or such games, tho I’ve never tested how far you can actually hit. Also when you have something targeted and you just went out of range, if you shoot while jumping you’ll still hit your target.

Sometimes on keeps I jump while shooting to hit people on top of the walls, it works quite well with longbow :P

Lol I normally just arc my shots over the wall, btw, if you jump right as you click Swoop on GS you’ll run through the air and hurdle over the keeps gate xD, I’ve done that 3 times now by accident.

or if you’re using a bow you can turn off auto targeting, clear your target, and manually adjust the level of arc, by doing -that- you can stand at waterfall/quarry in the legacy of the foe fire map and attack the blue/red keep respectively.

Guns and spells, unlike bows and our throwing axes, have a hard cap on their projectile range, IE once it hits the 1200 yard mark it despawns projectile no longer goes anywhere, arrows and thrown weapons do NOT have this issue.

Man, if only they would make it so we could manually aim our bows beyond the hard-capped distance, that’d be my dream come true. Being able to manually hit something 2,500+ units away by aiming the arrow’s path, now that’d be some fun stuff.
It’s clear based on the way arrows work and the fact that there is some soft-capping on bows, as is, that the physics are already there with arrows to manually aim.

Yeah, that’s the dream… Standing on a cliff, aiming my arrows to hit something 3,000 units away down below. Imagine how hard that would be to hit moving targets with those slow flying arrows, though.

But you can do this… I stand on waterfall/quarry and as I cap the point shoot and hit the door… It does damage still, you can also do it with hunters shot and rapid fire, as I said, just turn off auto target and press 1 you will fire an arrow, you aim up and down by angling your camera.

The furthest I’ve hit someone was on top of clock tower and killing the enemy trebuchet (back side of clock tower where he can’t shoot me)

since this only triggers when a ranger is on a down/death state.

why not give it to the pet instead. since our pet dies a lot

revamped trait: create a healing spring on pet’s death

Why? I’d rather have that surge of healing that can pick me back up when -I- die instead of a wasted healing spring on a dead pet.

PS: your pet gets the heal portion from Circle of Life, which means he gets more health on you going down.

Busting the Myth of Useless Pets

Picking the appropriate pet for the situation is something a lot of players lack_, thus they cry that "pets are useless

This is what makes the difference for me. When I do dungeons and get rangers on my group, all i have to do to know if the ranger is good or not is to pay attention at what pets they use and how they manage their pets.

This is a game where you can switch pets anytime as long as you are out of combat, there is no excuse to being stuck at using the same pets for everything.

I hope Anet allows us to switch the non used pet even when being in combat, this would really help to adapt your pets to the situation even if you can’t get out of combat

I normally just keep my Fern Hound and Drake/Moa with me, but then again they’re fairly tanky with 30 points in BM so i hardly need to worry about them… however i know exactly what you’re talking about where the rangers just throw their bird into the fray and then cry that their pets always dead….

@OP Awesome post!! Hopefully a lot of new players will read this before coming to the conclusion pets are broken!!

And that’s what i’m saying, the autoattack works fine at 1200 but you can still hit after 1200.
Plenty of people thinks 1200 = when you are out of range to hit.

Just curious how you measure you distance. Would be curious to test that myself and I haven’t seen a way in game and I am too lazy to search the interwebs to find the answer. I would greatly appreciate that +)

For starters a red bar appears under the skill when you’re “out of range” but you can do 1 of 2 things, just hit one, which will fire a shot and it’ll go a good distance before stopping, or if you’re using a bow you can turn off auto targeting, clear your target, and manually adjust the level of arc, by doing -that- you can stand at waterfall/quarry in the legacy of the foe fire map and attack the blue/red keep respectively.

Guns and spells, unlike bows and our throwing axes, have a hard cap on their projectile range, IE once it hits the 1200 yard mark it despawns projectile no longer goes anywhere, arrows and thrown weapons do NOT have this issue.

@OP i fail to really see this as a problem, you’re probably nudging yourself out of range (thus turning off the auto attack) because if the mob goes even 1yd “out of range” it’ll stop, and if you’re standing at 1200 that’s a very easy thing to do.

Who Will Go Signet Build After Patch?

in Ranger

It doesn’t need evades, bonefire does enough damage to make anything fighting you in melee range melt, and then if they’re ranged you don’t really have any good evades against range on our other weapons.

If you want to focus on bonfire dps you tragically have to take that tier 2 trait for larger radius (which is a bit annoying)
The bonfire burn is nifty, but not all that… it will add a nice bit of dmg but won’t deter any warrior/thief/mesmer… if you just sit in bonfire, the 3~ seconds of burning they end up taking before doing the majority of your health would easily be in their favor…

Really, having an evade on weapon, like going sword/torch so that if an enemy does push into bonfire you can evade more (taking less dmg) while they keep burning, its a win/win. Being able to leap threw bonfire is a nifty bonus.

I normally went with sword/torch and axe/axe, so i think a lot of the melting also came from me going nuts on their face with the spinning and the leaping the sword provided, then again the whirl from axe can do quite a chunk of damage to them too as well as put enough burning on them to not let them get rid of it…

PS: Bonfire applies burning AND pulses for raw damage every second, the raw damage is the scarier part.

Who Will Go Signet Build After Patch?

in Ranger

Posted by: Durzlla.6295

Durzlla.6295

A signet build needs 30 points in Marksmanship to get Signet of the beastmaster. Without Signet of the beastmaster a signet build is not optimal. When you use 30 points in Marksmanship you wouldn’t make a good condition ranger. Therefore it would not be optimal to use weapons that are condition oriented, like SB, axe, dagger. Now here comes the issue with a signet build. The non-condition weapons like LB and GS (and maybe sword) are really not good atm. So you end up with crappy weapons and some weak signets. Overall not a good build. If the GS and LB get some buffs along with the signets, then it might be fun to make a signet build.

I don’t agree that SB is a condition only weapon, in fact I have found that it does better damage when used as a power weapon and if you are able to get bleeds up into turns into a burst/power weapon.

I think Axe+Torch is the best condition set!

Axe torch is too risky imo, no evades.

It doesn’t need evades, bonefire does enough damage to make anything fighting you in melee range melt, and then if they’re ranged you don’t really have any good evades against range on our other weapons.

was doing fractals (one wif harpies). the movement speed juz feels too slow while in combat. this makes it hard to jump the platforms while harpies are pwnin me…

…because its still only 10% until the 14th.

its 0% when ur in combat. its actively passive only when ur off combat. so wat i meant to say is, it sld be permenantly passive (on and off combat) as long as u don’t use its active skill.

hopefully 14th patch gives us 25% passively on and off combat.

This is false, i’ve tested it, you -do- get the 10% increase in and out of combat, but 10% is just so minor that it’s hardly noticeable and when you slow down while entering combat you just don’t notice it AT ALL

yea ur right. the passive 10% buff does stay whether ur in or out of combat. but still the ranger is sooo slow in combat….T_T

well at least we’ll be getting the 25% buff tmr.

lol yeah me and my friend tested it like 20 times to make sure we didn’t just run a slightly different path, oh god it’s just awful currently xD.

FUN FACT: Necromancers, Rangers, Elementalists are -all- getting a signet that gives them 25% movement speed out of combat, granted ours also affects our pet, so i say ours is the best =P

plz just stop trying to anger the community

Please just accept you’re not as good at ranger as you think you are. Just because -you- can’t kill a thief doesn’t mean others can’t, i sure as hell have no issues dropping thieves, then again i have half the brain to either be super offensive and keep attacking them when they stealth, or run very very far away from them so they can’t open on me.

I love how telling someone to stop saying you should NEVER die to a thief equals I’m a bad player who always dies to thieves. All you self proclaimed pros who keep telling the community that your their god learn from you have the worst habit of assumption. If you can say I NEVER die to a thief you’re jut plain ignorant. The game is at a point people know its flaws. Yes they are over exaggerated and if you look you will find good and bad suggestions for all classes. The point however still stands. You are not the ranger god, you are not a dev, and you are not unbeatable so stop telling people otherwise.

The whole design of the ranger class hard counters thieves…. I don’t know how you consider this trolling. Let me explain:
Let’s say you use a trap build, the second you plant your traps underneath you you are already in a huge positional advantage as the thief WILL die if he decides to attack you while sitting in the conditions, this will force them to back off or for them to harass you with ranged shortbow, but wait your ravens hit like trucks and can kill them in 2-3 hits! Harass them with the raven as you laugh at them while you take the point.

Got caught with the typical venom – backstab combo? Pop protect me / lightning reflexes/ RaO – pre combat(if you really want to kill the thief) / the condi signet (if you’re traited/ signet of stone (if you’re traited)/ GS 4 before he uses steal (hilarious) / use the sword evades before he gets the jumps (takes luck / timing but is possible)

Trust me, if you know how and when to react, it’s VERY hard for a burst thief to pull off their burst on you.

What i normally do with the 1h sword and GS (assuming the 4 is on CD because it’s kittening lawlzworthy watching them get knocked down trying to steal from you) is spam the auto attack, for 1h sword this can launch you up to 1680 units away which will leave the thieves just lost and confused as to what just happened as well as not getting off backstab (that’s for sure), great sword makes it harder for them to do because every 3rd attack you evade, this causes them to either time it, which can be deadly since you’re still hurting them while they wait and they’re doing nothing to you, or to just use back stab ASAP and have a good chance of it being evaded by you.

As it is, thieves almost never remove Signet of Shadows from their bars anyway. Seems like that needs a nerf, and the new buffs need to be revoked. Why encourage less skill variety?

you don’t need to use the skill though… i know i’m going to continue to not even buy sig of locust on my necro, it just has no place in my necros play style which is essentially just the whole “You don’t escape death” sort of thing (IE chill, chill everywhere!!)

Durzlla.6295

There so many other Signets that are better, Lightning reflexes not on a ranger skill bar is ludicrous…seeing how we are more squishy then gw1 rangers….

I hardly ever run into a situation where LR is worth a slot. Almost everyone brings immobilize as their lockdown skill, not stun. Probably because everyone knows Stability and LR is ineffective vs immobilize. If they fixed that it would be soooooo worth it.

Escaping. Throw down a spike trap, LR, swap to warhorn – buff n run.

Thats just my Opinion you know? Your free to carry w/e you want.

Ask around the forums in everyone is in agreement that rangers are the unofficial whipping boys of gw2.

Thus, meaning people will likely take you as a target over anything else if they see you. In pvp or WvW.

No one is gonna turn down an “free” Badge of honor.

And yeah I agree, there are bugs that still need fixes.

I’ve actually noticed people attack the clothies first, it’s probably the whole “Clothies are squishy” thing thats been ingrained into everyones head since the dawn of time. They really do need to make stability protect against immob and make stun breakers break immob as well, because atm it’s just kinda stupid how immob is stronger than a stun, sure you can attack while immobed.. you know, if they don’t move behind you like EVERYONE who immobs someone does..
