I think what it needs is a more visible animation so you can time your dodges. At the moment it’s game over if you’re hit by Moa.
The same goes for all other skills, btw.

That’s neat and all, but I’m talking about bosses. All things you mentioned are impaired by Unshakable:
“Gains defiant when targeted by crowd control skills. Blind is 10% effective. Weakness and vulnerability last 50% less time.”
How did you get those bomb numbers so high? I’m guessing other classes provided you with 25 Might, Fury, and banner bonuses?

The engineer is good at at killing trash with the bomb kit/other AoE, but how do we go about dealing with the health sponges that are bosses? I feel pretty useless when I just stand in a corner of the room chucking grenades… makes me feel like I should have rolled a better ranged DPS class.
Our conditions are pretty much useless. We can’t stack bleeds, movement-impairing conditions are moot since everyone stays in melee range anyway, our CC is impaired by Defiant and blind only works 10% of the time. Confusion is useless as well, since bosses don’t spam skills, instead opting for high damage skills that instantly down players on a 5-second interval.
How can I feel useful as a dungeoneering engineer?

Well, she isn’t the most original villain ever but there is one reedeming quality…
She actually succeded in something. So compared to other villains who have 0 or next to 0 successes she doesn’t seem that bad.
Still if she would appear in any serious AAA (or even lower) RPG she would be considered a bad joke.
So far she hasn’t succeeded in anything she attempted. Kidnap the queen? Nope, she was Anise’s illusion and instead she got someone with more panache and aplomb. Oh, and HOBO-TRON.

I use a pretty standard 30/10/0/20/10 Rabid build with Bomb Kit, Tool Kit and Rocket Boots to roam in wvw. Melee opponents I can handle with ease, or I can at least keep up with the skilled ones.
Ranged opponents, however, completely roflstomp me. Shortbow Rangers and Staff/GS mesmers for instance just stay comfortably at long range while they pelt me with arrows/illusions/what have you.
How should I deal with opponents that don’t want to engange in close-range combat? My only ranged option is the pistol, and it’s laughably weak without kit support.

Standard bad guy syndrome. They’re the mooks we kill, ergo, they’re inept.
Now take allied NPC’s. If they were able to complete events without a player’s help this game wouldn’t be very challenging. Ergo, a whole battalion of Seraph is unable to deal with two bandits stealing apples from a Shaemoor farm.

Things I would like to see changed:
-Remove the root from throwing orbs at Liadri
-Make the arena floors solid as to show red circles more clearly
-Be revived at the ringmaster if you lose a fight
-Make using Gambits more profitable. Right now you get 1 extra box per gambit, so the return of tickets to boxes is always 1 to 1.
I am very impressed with the everything else! Keep it up.
