Sorry, I can’t translate my post for <50 IQ. You’re going to have to use critical reading capabilities.
Sidenote: My Warrior’s super 1337 100b build actually does kill a glass Mesmer in <3.0 seconds, including the stomp. Actually had a guy whisper me asking what the kitten I just did because he died so fast.
Oh that’s right, most players don’t actually plan out where they move and run around randomly.
Good point, let’s get a run speed signet so we can by the most mobile profession in the game.
Everything in the game that doesn’t involve doing something constructive, like killing mobs, killing players, <insert dungeon>, crafting, the list goes on.
Also if you seriously think using up all our rune slots and a crappy heal is the same as other classes using 1 utility slot, a decent weapon choice or at most 10 trait points
1. MOR has more heal throughput than the other heals, even untraited. Don’t QQ because Mantras are too hard for you.
2. Focus > Warhorn.
iBerserker does 527834278742884231 times as much damage as all the other phantasms combined to Trebuchets. Obviously iWINNAR beasts the competition.
So now you don’t even read your own posts? You are the ones who brought up killing Glass cannons in WvWvW, I presumed you meant 1vs1 because quite frankly you have no idea how the rest of the game works. I don’t think you understand how any game works.
Presumed I meant 1v1 on a 1xx vs. 1xx vs. 1xx map. Lolk bro.
Tell me what exactly what other classes are giving up for their run speed boosts/quickness?
Duh, weapon selection, utility slots, trait slots.
Mesmer gives up rune selection, rolleyes. Oh, and heal selection I guess. Alternatively, the Mesmer could give up weapon selection (you know, to equip the most ridiculously powerful weapon in the Mesmer’s arsenal, such a sacrifice).
Willing to admit you were wrong about exploring btw or are you ignoring that now?
I have 46% map complete and I don’t even try for it. Apparently I’m losing some imaginary race that doesn’t matter, though.
Look, I’m not trying to get the skill nerfed into oblivion, but the fact that it takes a Necro out of Lich/Plague just irks the ever loving kitten out of me.
That’s pretty much the only reason I ever slot Moa. I can imagine the Necro’s pure rage when I land it, and I giggle.
Ignorance at it’s best here, the reason why you’re being pinned down as a Moa is because YOU CAN NOT use stun breaks or any utilities as the bird, therefore any stun after the transform will pin you and have you slaughtered.
You could always try dodging the stun that you know is coming after Moa.
Sidenote: This is highly inefficient since Moa already dazes, effectively. Half the stun is wasted. How silly.
The last time I was Moa’d (and it’s been a long time since that happened), I just ran away immediately, threw a dodge. I basically took about 1000 damage. Zzzz.

It’s not a graphics load issue.
The engine loads them slowly by design.
I’m running at >60 FPS (capped) with no dips and I still get loading delay in the usual situations.
You do know movement speed increases can also be used for finding these 1vs1 in WvWvW which you think is the whole game, getting around to personal story missions or farming Karma as well right?
Categorically overpowered. Mesmers can already chasedown almost any class in WvW at any time. Passive run speed would be a joke.
Also, your “1v1” is funny. Shows your inexperience in WvW.
As previously stated: if you really give a kitten about exploration on a Mesmer, Centaur runes + MOR will give you 100% perma swiftness uptime. Lulz~~~
I mean, Mesmers are the only class that can get a heal exactly at 10s recharge. Thieves can get pretty close with their 15s Signet + Signet recharge I suppose.
While that is theoretically possible, it’s much more likely that the bounce itself has a separate 600 range.
It wouldn’t be too hard to test though: summon a Staff clone at max range, then step within 600 range of your target. The WOC from the Staff clone will have to travel a total of >1200 range to bounce to you. This assumes a Staff clone WOC bounce is coded the same as your own.
The other way to test would be to cast WOC at ~1200 range as you are running towards your target, so that you end up within 600 range. Your WOC would have to travel a total of >1200 range in this case as well.
1. Phantasmal Haste is a “heavy phantasm” trait. However, if you are going the Phantasm route, 10 points in Dom will be more effective (15% illusion damage).
2. Deceptive Evasion is good if you plan on using many clones, whether via overwriting them (on-death traits) or via shatters. If you do not plan to use one of those two extensively, I recommend dropping DE and investing those 5 points elsewhere. Unless you really really want more clones.
3. Generally speaking, power is more useful than precision, unless you are going whole hog bleeds with Sharper Images.
4. No matter what you do, maintain 5 points in Illusions. That trait is very strong.
Shhh, Portal is useless for exploration. The only thing that matters in this game is running in a straight line across the whole map.
It’s mostly working as intended.
The part that bothers me is that GS2 does a LOS check at the beginning (and end) of the cast, whereas pretty much every other ability in the game only checks at the end.
Pretty silly.
They do, but bouncing has a shorter range than the attack itself. Edit: Something like 600 range for the bounce.
Lol! You’re pretty funny.
Still waiting for you to accept an underwater movement nerf for the top 3 level zones in the game for a 10% passive runspeed bonus.
For a “major” (lol) portion of the game. I never said exploration was negligible, but major? Really now.
Commander rank: Why gold, when we have Influence and Badges of Honor?

Pretty obvious. $$$$
Yeah, the pathing / glitching across walls really needs to be fixed.
Also, the Mesmer portals are very obvious when they activate — just AOE the kitten out of it.
When Mesmer’s can’t compete in 2 major portions of the game yeah it is.
Oh yeah that map exploration is a major portion of the game! Lmao.
Every post you make just proves you have never played this game, why do you post here?
Good point, where can I get this game where “Mesmers suck at GW2” that you seem to be so fond of?
Currently I’m playing “how fast can I kill a glass cannon in WvW”, and I’m down to 2.5 seconds. If I get more gear, I think I’ll be able to drop that to 2.0 seconds.
Uhoh, Mesmers are 10% slower at exploration than other classes!
Game-shattering!
And the Blink, but Blink doesn’t count!
It is unknown whether two crit chance or one crit/one damage stack.
Two crit chance Sigils do not, per some testing on the Warrior forums.
I was there when this happened. It was the best move I saw all weekend. They didn’t find the mesmer in the corner, we waited a bit, portal’d in, retook the keep and continued the siege on the garrison.
Good play!
Yesterday, JQ “lost” a tower to HOD, and waited about 4 minutes for the HOD forces to bail and hit the supply camp. Then we portal’d back into it (had 2 Mesmers hidden) with 30 and smashed the lord through the indignant buff. Had to fend off about 40 defenders, but they came in disorganized. That was so much GG. Then HOD set up a cata and treb against the tower … which we blew up. Bwahahaha!
Edit:
Sidenote, if you limit portals to X uses where X = a low number, expect trolls and spies to rapidly port through it to expire the portals before anyone gets through. Lulz.

Why is it that with 100% swiftness and 100% vigor 13/16sec I still get outrun?

I suspect he means 100% uptime with Swiftness, but not sure.
There’s also teleports.
Uhoh, another complaint about Mesmer exploration for 100% map complete.
Too bad Mesmers aren’t #1 at everything in the game.
Mantras start out bad then become ok but boring though the use of all of our trait points and our ruins.
Mantras start off OK, to be perfectly honest. 2-shot 2x cleanse on a shorter cooldown than any other condition removal?
Yeah.
Anyways, I’d like to clarify that my earlier post described why people don’t like Mantras, not to be confused with any characterization of whether or not Mantras are balanced.
Because, to be honest, they are balanced for the most part. Only imbalances I see:
1. Concentration needs to last 1 more second. 2s is just really kitten short.
2. Charge time could use a 0.25s reduction, or something minor.
Basically I whipped out the 30/30 build again this weekend since I’ve acquired most of my gear (Berserker’s), and I slaughtered fools in WvW. 3k Mantra of Pain shots make baby HODies cry.
I could down glass Elementalists in 2.5 seconds. It wasn’t pretty.
While the mobility is kitten poor (I used no Blink), I was very resilient against touch-and-go attacks. Heavy condition removal, stability, and a very high heal throughput with a fully traited MORecovery.
incorrect.
Clones should never override a phantasm, as phantasms are our primary source of DPS.
Go to the mists and test it with scepter and three phantasms. The clone on the auto attack will spawn but instantly shatter. It will not replace or override a phantasm.
However, the trident 3* ability does.
Incorrect? You realize that almost every single clone generating ability a Mesmer has functions as I stated, right?
Full Berserker’s. Duh.
SBI has treated both the HOD v. JQ v. SB matches as a “fight for second place”.
Deal with it.
Based on the verbiage I think the op was asking about the abuse of getting the benefits of the trait while mainhanding something that is not “Sword”.
Which is the best build for leveling - farming with no downtime?

Umm, the fastest grinding is power stacking + shatters.
Condition damage = damage over time = slower killing and overkill / wasted damage.
???
Well, if you’re using Mimic to soak a kill shot from a Warrior, you’re playing a risky game. I guess the main thing is you should decide whether you’re trying to really use the Echo, or really use the 4s reflect portion.
When all is said and done, I’d generally let Echo copy a weak attack, and just reflect everything else. Seems more reliable and effective overall right?
Did the human and half the norn story quests. No significant issues. A few rough spots, but all doable.
Most of them I did when I was underlevel by 1-2.
Yeah, it’s a massive learning curve though if you try to really use multiple Mantras in combat.
That just doesn’t have a place in my game.
Hehe your game hehe.
I never said the class was subpar. I simply stated that there were things I felt could use improvement.
You state that basically all of the utility abilities need to be on shorter cooldowns. Like I said, one or two may be a useful discussion, but saying that all your utilities are too slow = you’re probably just playing poorly.
In fact I point out that I enjoy the challenge that dodge introduces. However, if it’s going to be a flaky system, shouldn’t that be addressed? If a class’ main form of defense is something that can easily get stuck on the environment and thus killing that defense or if that defense is constantly putting that character into other mobs, that’s an issue.
Dodges are not the “Thief class main form of defense”. You’re bleeding D&D into GW2. Like I said above: you’re not playing a GW2 Thief.
Specifically, all classes in GW2 dodge. All classes are balanced around using dodge. Hell, Rangers have even better “dodge all the time” traits that are easier to access than Thieves.
Thieves use CC, burst, stealth, blinds to avoid damage. That, and several attacks provide bonus evasion.
Dodging is not a “THIEF MECHANIC” which you’re supposed to rely on for 100% of your survivability. Sure, you can augment it if you trait it up, but that is a build specific decision.
For runspeed, as stated Signet of Rage, the 10% trait, Warhorn.
For combat activity, Axe/Axe.
Here’s the trick though: whatever weapon you pick, if you want high-activity combat, do NOT use Signet spam for utility. Use real kitten like stomp, frenzy, etc.
Note: Axe/Axe + Frenzy is pretty frenetic.
I assume you were unable to test whether the Sword 10% crit applied to offhand Sword attacks? They have cooldowns so would be tedious …
^
Working as intended. Clones will replace a phantasm if you have 3 phantasms out (e.g. it has no clone to replace).
iBerserker, because it kills everything on the map everywhere always.
Hey guys, when I press my “Spatial Surge” attack, I can’t kill everything in a DE. Can the devs comment on the suggestion to make Spatial Surge bounce to multiple targets? I want to use it with my condition damage build, so maybe we could add a bleed and burn to it?
Also, on my last personal story mission, a mob healed himself and I died. So I think it should poison as well. Also, when the Spatial Surge arc makes a circle returning to me, it should grant me Fury and Aegis. Swiftness would also help me run around to tag mobs as well, so if you wouldn’t mind adding that as well, that would be great.
I know there may be other abilities that can help me out in those situations, but I would rather use my 1 button to do everything in the game. It looks really cool with the laser shooting out!
By the way, I think it would be cool to get some other utility skills like “NUKE_ALL_DE” and “IWIN”. Those might be kind of powerful though, so we could put them on a 20s cooldown or something.
What do you think?
I agree, scaling the point accrual would be very simple and effective for a single match.
E.g. simply scale the point accrual down based on how many players are in the zone as a ratio of: current / maximum (cap).
The only problem is when you are adding up points for re-match calculations. E.g. a tier where there is little off-hours activity would pick up fewer total points than a tier where is a lot of off-hours activity.
That said, that is probably fair, actually.
Anyways, it wouldn’t solve everything — the server with more off-hours presence would still take territory and have more objectives when the clock swings to primetime NA. However, it would partially mitigate the point skew.
Edit:
As a general sidenote, no one’s going to coordinate a mass logout for 8 hours of straight primetime to partially reduce the enemy’s score.
Remember, if 2 servers are completely absent, the third server is basically getting 33% of +710. More likely they would end up closer to 40% of +650 (260ppt).
Even when the “2 servers” all log back on during off-hours (lol), they would be splitting 70% of 325 (228ppt).
It is theoretically possible to exploit it, but highly unlikely, and much less impacting than the current model.
(edited by EasymodeX.4062)
I think we should switch to a 4-week match cycle.
Also, lock out WvW participation for the current match cycle when you server xfer (along with a 1+ week xfer cooldown).
So your suggestion is to deal with it….when a certain combat mechanic doesn’t work well you make suggestion so it improves…YOU DONT JUST DEAL WITH IT.
Well, let’s see … no single combat mechanic is perfect for every combat situation in the entire game.
It’s kind of unfortunate that the most popular and easiest-to-use mechanic of the Mesmer class is subpar for DE farming with 45 of your closest friends, but that’s kind of how it is.
Perhaps you should try other buttons besides the phantasm summon?
The tooltips are incorrect. The cooldown traits stack for everything except for multi-part abilities (Sword3, Sword4, and I think Scepter2), which are bugged.
If you enable the cooldown indicator on your UI, and press the button, you’ll see the correct time remaining.
How do you get 40% reduction when the traits for CD reduction doesn’t stack?
Because they do stack?
This is common knowledge.
1. There’s a UI option to disable the double-tap (e.g. you only dodge with a manual key).
2. L2p. You’re not playing the class effectively in GW2. If you think a particular utility is underpowered and needs a shorter cooldown, that’s one thing. But you realize you’re basically saying that the entire class is subpar?
Chaos Storm has a long cooldown at ~25s.
iDuelist has a fast-ish cooldown at ~9s.
Mirror Blade has a really short cooldown at ~4.8s.
That aside: deal with it.
If you’re farming DEs, use a different approach. Phantasms are not the solution to all of your challenges in GW2.
Ah, so that is the revealed mechanic. I kept running into it with one of my builds, but never took the time to figure out exactly what was happening.
They have a short cast time and relatively short cooldowns.
Here’s my take:
1. I don’t mind the role of the hero vice Trahearne. I just mind Trahearne.
2. The story would have been significantly more interesting if the other heroes were involved.
For example, I totally expected my character to get involved with the Destiny’s Edge folks, get them motivated. This was 100% completely absent from the game. My first character was a human, so I got to hear Logan’s emotrip from start to finish. That said, he seemed like an ok guy with a lot on his mind. Hell, I thought he was written well, and the emo phase was just that — a phase that I would get to watch … and then …
3. BAM! Trahearne enters the scene out of left field! He’s a buddy of the OOW character (Appleman, who was cool). Oh wait, no, Trahearne is now a researcher of Orr!. Oh wait, now Trahearne is the Chosen One of the Pale Tree! Super Paladin ex-researcher, Marshal of the Pact and the point-man for all that is good in the world!
Facepalm.
That said, I wouldn’t have minded Trahearne’s role, if Destiny’s Edge did not cease to exist. Really, what are they doing? Why aren’t they the other commanders / lieutenants / special agents that are helping the Pact out? Why isn’t your character acting as a liaison with them? Why don’t you go on missions with DE to help support the Pact? Why isn’t Trahearne trying to recruit them or bring in their participation in the first place?
You can tell there’s like half a dozen to a dozen filler “hello this is the Pact” missions that could have been better invested with richer content, like questing with DE. A large part of the 55-75 track for example. You know all those filler Vigil, Priory, and OOW nameless bots? Why not include the DE instead, with some fun dialogue and twists?
In other words, my main disappointment is the massive discontinuity between my expectations — working with DE, rebuilding it — and the result: one-man-show Trahearne with a whole lot of Order of [x] minions. Again, I don’t mind Trahearne’s role, but the real problem is that everyone else in the game all but disappears when he takes center stage.
