You will first meet Ogden Stonehealer in Arah Explorer Mode.

Anet already has plans for Ogden to be a Hero NPC for the Durmand Priory Story Path for the future Personal Story if you’re a Priory member as show through the Durmand Priory intro since he is one of the 3 Hero NPCs for that path.

For the other Order path he is most likely going to be a side character that pops up once in a while.

Ya lore history wise our hero has mostly been forgotten in history and the True Main Heroes of GW1 recorded in History in GW2 are Devona, Mhenlo, Cynn, Aidan, and Eve. However, I only say mostly because very few NPCs will mention our GW1 hero during their hidden dialogue but they most only mention him or her as a person rather than by name which shows how our GW1 hero has been mostly forgotten.

However, i do expect our GW1 hero will be mentioned more in our future Personal Story by NPCs, mostly by Ogden Stonehealer since he is the only GW1 character we meet so far that is still alive, to cover a bit of what he or she did after GW1 main story.

Well we may get to have our GW2 character Ascended in GW2 once we can enter the Crystal Desert since don’t forget there are some GW1 villains who still remain such as the White mantle and not to mention the Last Mursaat named “Lazarus the Dire” is still alive but because of what happened in GW1 his power has been crippled.

When I did this I did die a lot but then I discovered that I can lure the mobs one by 1 if I do it properly. that way i only needed to deal with 1, 2, or 3 at a time. Also if possible try to revive some of the NPCs that are out of the Argo range of the enemies. They can be very helpful dealing with the enemies you separated from the group. Once you killed enough try to revive a few of the NPC Allies and start focusing fire on the Queen. The NPCs will serve as nice temporary tanks and the NPCs with their own names are the strong one you must have fighting with you since their special attacks are very handy.

Like I said, I am fine with another character being the hero, but it felt wrong with how they tell the story in GW2, and that is the whole issue here. The story start to give us the feeling we are the hero just to pull the rug out from under our feet and giving then no reason to care about that new hero that comes from totally out of the left field.

Ya that is where I think Anet went wrong with the Personal story. They made it give too much of the feeling that your character is the Main hero of the Main Story when he or she was just only 1 of the many heroes or heroines of the Main story that will play a important rule as part of the Main story like the other heroes of the story.

Hopefully Anet separate the Personal Story and Main story a bit better in Act 2 of GW2 so the Personal Story would still focus on your character but give the feeling of the Personal story is your character’s Personal point of view of the Main Story rather then making it feel like your Personal Story is the Main Story.

If they can do that properly they may even be able to write a book covering the actual Main story of GW2 and give a few mentions of our characters involvement in it.

After all this is what Anet did with GW1 story. Story wise our GW1 hero or heroine did do those things in GW1 story but he or she is treated as the forgotten hero or heroine who is only partly remember in history (as shown through some hidden random NPC conversations) while the True Main Heroes of GW1 recorded in History in GW2 are Devona, Mhenlo, Cynn, Aidan, and Eve.

However, our GW1 hero may become more mentioned in GW2 story later in Act 2 or higher by Ogden Stonehealer, if Anet allows it in the future Personal Story, since he is the only GW1 member currently confirmed to be still alive.

Ya GW2 has plenty of titles already, most of them are WvW and PvP titles, but there are plenty of PvE titles that goes unnoticed like the Gold Holder title “Golden” which you can unlock by having a large amount of Gold Coins in your bank.

I just hope Anet adds the show title feature like back in GW1 with their titles for GW2.

Not to be offensive or rude Vard but what you ask is what I’ve been saying about people confusing Main story with Personal Story. Main story wise our character was never meant to be the Main Hero of GW2. Our character is a hero but not the main hero as everyone was expecting to be placed as. The true main heroes of the Main story was meant to be Destiny Edge and future Hero NPCs for the story. We’re just telling our point of view of the main story of GW2 in our Personal Story.

Yes there is a lot of bugs to be fixed first but I’m talking about the roles in the Main story.

I think the fact that people can’t even agree on whether he’s perfect or too flawed shows that it’s somewhere in between.

Well even Trahearne himself thinks he is stuck between being perfect or too flawed as hinted through dialogues you can easily miss if you don’t take the time to talk to NPCs after Personal Story missions.

Without Trahearne the Pact can’t keep together but without you Trahearne wouldn’t be able to keep the Pact together because he knows he is flawed in many ways. He mentions several times, if you take your time to talk to NPCs before leaving personal story instances, that he lacks many leadership characteristics that your character already have and even stats several times that maybe you should of been the leader of the Pact but both, Trahearne, and our character, agrees that in order for the Pact to work someone who have knowledge, connects, leadership, and not a Order member should be the leader to prevent any friction between the 3 Orders in the Pact.

Our character do have 3 out of the 4 but because he or she is a member of the order he or she can’t be the leader of the Pact that most players wanted or else the Pact will fall apart easily.

These small things most people miss out on, because they rather rush their personal story, shows how Trahearne is not some hero but is still just a normal person doing something that anyone could of done or could of carried the same destiny if they chosen too.

Well for now Act 1 focus on the defeat of Zhaitan, the formation of the Pact, and reformation of Destiny Edge. Yes I do feel they could of made the story more organized and clearer of the difference between GW2 main story and personal story but the main issue now is that most people are mad at how the main story changes from putting your character as the main hero to a side character.

However, what people don’t see is that the main story is not the personal story. What the personal story is isn’t the main story of GW2 but a story tell the personal story of a person who is taking part of the main story. Yes, you are no longer the main hero of the main story but you are still telling your personal story as the commander of the pact who leads the men on the battlefield to victory and as the person who reunited Destiny Edge.

I suspected that Anet never had original planned our character to be the main character of the Main Story from the start so I’m not acting like everyone else right now. However, Anet just lacked making it clear the difference between their planned Main story of GW2 and the Personal story of our characters who is only 1 of the many heroes (both current , such as the member of Destiny Edge and Trahearne, and future planned Heroes) who will rise and defeat the Elder Dragons.

EdwinLi.1284

Well you’ll need to think of how the main story changes from putting you as the main character to putting Trahearne as the main character. It is still your personal story but the main story it self no long focus on you. GW2 story so far focus on two types of stories in 1 story. Main story which focuses on certain characters as the main hero and Personal story that focus on what your character does throughout the story.

So far people expect the Personal story to be like the Main story but it is not. The Personal story is about what your character does throughout the Main story. It like how the Dungeon story is, in Main story point of view and it being part of the Main story, how Destiny Edge becomes reunited by 1 unknown person, you the hero or heroines, but personal story point of view it tells your story of how you reunited Destiny Edge.

Think of Personal Story as the Other story never mentioned in a Book that you always see but never get to know about his or her story throughout the book. In the beginning it focuses on you, the unknown side character that made things possible in the main story, but then shifts back to the main story at that certain point.

This is how the Personal story has felt for me since the beginning since part of the story was focus on my character(a human) but it felt more like a side story focused on what Logan did before he reunited with Destiny Edge (similar to how the book Destiny Edge did with each of the Destiny Edge members) but through your personal “character” point of view.

I don’t know how you all felt the Personal story was but for me it just felt like the Other side of the Main story through the eyes of a side character that constantly makes a different in a book for the Main characters.

I know there is a lot of hate for Trahearne but that is mostly because the lack of background Anet has on him lore wise. People may have thought differently if Anet had released a book that tells Trahearne’s Personal story up to the point when he meets the our Character at Claw Isalnd.

Ya he is not bad at all it just from what I’ve seen people was expecting the Personal story to focus on their characters to be some kind of Chosen One who units all and Saves all and becomes so grand hero of legends that people would tell story about him or her and build statues of their character.

However, that is not where Anet went with the story. They followed the philosophy of what makes a Hero is not their fame and fortune but by their actions. Yes, Anet could of gone with the story like every other fantasy stories and make your hero or heroine known across the land that Saved the world from Zhaitan and his army of undead and put Trahearne as the person who helped but that is also part of how a reality is.

Not all heroes are recognized as Heroes but their actions are what made them Heroes despite being forgotten or unnoticed by history. Trahearne was a hero in his own way for being the one who united the Orders that could never get a long and kept them together which allowed the creation of the Pact which would become the force strong enough to defeat the Elder Dragons.

However, you (the hero or heroine) help lead the Pact to victory and reunited Destiny Edge (whom carries the destiny of being the only heroes who can truly defeat the Elder Dragons). History wise you will be just considered a commander who just help Trahearne but in reality your actions are those of a True Hero despite only a few know about your actions and see you as a hero.

Keeping 26 silver Dungeon reward 101

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: EdwinLi.1284

EdwinLi.1284

Yes we all know how you hate not getting 26 Silver every dungeon run now but there is a way to keep getting 26 Silver every dungeon run but first things you must understand

The basic reason for the Anti-farming dungeon system:
The Anti-farming dungeon system is a pain for people who want to make a fortune off of dungeons or farm whatever they want from the dungeon. However, Anet never originally planned the Dungeon to be something you can make a fortune off of and with people making a fortune off of Dungeons only this was implemented into the game.

Now to the part of how to maintain 26 silvers every dungeon run.

It is simple, run that 1 dungeon every 1 hour. The Anti-Farming Dungeon system will only reduce the 26 silver reward only if you run it again before 1 hour. The 1 hour, however, is not the exact time a dungeon will allow you to run without having reward reduction but it is best suggested to wait 1 hour. The actual time is a bit lower but close to 1 hour.

If you do accidentally get a reward reduction then you must wait until tomorrow for the reward to return to 26 silver.

You are welcomed to farm tokens if you’re in a rush before the 1 hour is up but remember because you did not wait for 1 hour you will obtain a coin reward reduction each run.

Right now many people focus on DPS builds for that damage output but there are little info of how these build should be used in GW2 which result in the current issue with people constantly dieing from whatever they have problems with GW2 gameplay.

DPS so far is best for people who use range attacks but it seems a lot of melee is using High Damage/Precision that they ignore having high toughness which is a essential stat to have when your character it built to be a melee character.

DPS is best for range attackers because most of the time you’re not being the person going head on right to the mob of enemies or fighting the elites head on in the dungeon but the person running around in circles dodging attacks and leaving the melees to deal with the enemies.

Well you still get the same reward before the patch once a day. The system works as first run of the day is the same reward as before the patch but as you run this path more times the rewards gradually reduce. If you want to still get 26 silver from a dungeon run then it best just to do that certain dungeon once a day. However, if you want that certain dungeon gear you’re welcomed to go run it more times a day for more tokens.

What you thought when they said GW2 was not a grind you thought it was about gear and stuff? I remember they were referring to leveling grinding.

They also said dungeon gear was something you had to work for and to prove you worked to get that dungeon exclusive weapon/gear skin. Ya some are not level 80 but the point of obtaining those items has always been for the skin/look of the weapon and armor as Anet originally planned from the start.
It is to show off and say “Hey I actually worked hard to get these things at this certain Dungeon” and was never about “Hey anyone can get these Dungeon gear whenever you want with little to no effort from this certain Dungeon.”

Most of you forgotten that Anet announced their main plan for dungeons from the start was to reward people with special unique weapon/armor skins you can only get from running the specific dungeons by trading the dungeon tokens. They were never meant to be something you can farm for rare gears and make a fortune on.

It is also why they made Legendary weapons require a certain dungeon to obtain 1 of the ingredients.

Ya I was expect more people to run AC considering how a large amount of GW2 population wants the Legendary Weapon Twilight and Sunrise. The dungeon weapon it self is also quite interesting since it turns into a ghost sword at night time.

I can only guess not everyone knows that Gift of Ascalonian is required for Twilight, Sunrise, Flameseeker, and Bolt or they’re just doing it 1 run a day.

I suggest both if you can but mostly high toughness since those DPS damage are basically small bug bits with high Toughness but issue is that your HP will be easily drained if you are down. I also suggest you get some Healing boosts to help boost your healing skill to make up for your lack of HP.

I feel that the lower level dungeons need to have Weapon skins of their current weapons. Mostly because people don’t have interests in the weapon when it is lvl 60 (lowest dungeon weapon level). Ya you can get it and use Fine transmutation to skin your lvl 80 weapon but many find it a hassle to go and work for 300 tears for Ascalonian Sword when they can put the same effort to get 300 tokens for a Molten Sword which is a exotic and lvl 80 gear. I understand the legendary ingredient being 500 since it is a Legendary Ingredient but what most people want is the skin of the Dungeon weapon but with how dungeons are now people seems to lose interest or have no interest in the weapon or armor skins.

Lol tokens should be the last thing you worry about with your Legendary. Karma is where you need to start since it wont fill up your inventory.

nah I can work on karma as I work on getting 100% world. After all half the fun of exploring 100% world is the amount of different events you encounter while exploring.

Currently now the hassle is the Tokens for dung gear or legendary ingredient because of the lack of people enter dungeons like AC, TA, and the others because most of the dungeoners are focused on CoF. Sometimes I wish they would sell the armor/weapon skins of the dung for a cheaper token price than the equipment itself so people would be more motivated to going to those dungeons for the equipment skins like the AC weapons being the ones that have the appearance of a normal weapon in the morning and ghost weapon at night.

(PS I said selling weapon/armor skins. Not the equipment being cheaper it self)

Well I suggest you start going to the Dungeon that has the Legendary Ingredient you need soon so you can start building up to the 500 tokens. Sadly people don’t do dungeon runs for the weapon/gear skins since they mostly care about stats of the weapon/gear rather then the skin of the weapon/gear.

So the majority rules, because i agree with everyone else. the gain is not even equal to the risk. and it just feels like a gigantic waste of time now, other from the explore tokens.
in todays society people want to feel accomplished, yes overcoming a hard challenging dungeon is somewhat accomplishing but more so its a relief that they wont have to go through it again, and chances are they won’t go through it again because of the reward they got..just wasn’t worth the time.

so Anet really messed this one up, i mean it barely drops any upgrades for you, gives you little to no money at all. experience is just gone, im willing to bet your spending more money just being there then you are gaining. so in short. i can honestly see the majority of the population ignoring dungeons now.

I have to disagree with that part since part of the Legendary Weapon requirement is to gather 500 tokens of a certain dungeon for that 1 Ingredient and then comes gathering tokens for the dung gear they want(for either the skin of the weapon/gear or the weapon/gear itself). However, I do agree that most dungeons will be ignored because people are not interested in that certain dungeon gear but that is already happening even before this change.

EdwinLi.1284

So which dungeon you find is fun to run and what issues do you have with it?

For me it is Ascalonian Catacombs because of the nostalgic memories of GW1 and that the first half of the dungeons is made to test who have mastered the dodging mechanics of the game and who have not when you fight the LT boss. It not what i say a easy dungeon nor too hard since those with experience of the dungeon can handle most of the challenges without dieing more than 3 times but it isn’t friendly to people who have no experience with the dungeon at all.

Only issue is the lack of people going to this dungeon. I would expect more people going here with the Legendary Weapon ingredient for Sunrise, Twilight, Flameseeker, and Bolt being Gift of Ascalonian (considering a large amount of the GW2 community wants Sunrise or Twilight) or for the AC weapons(for lvl 60 gear or for skinning lvl 80 weapon) but it seems everyone want that CoF weapon and armor set. Making finding a AC group with people who have gone through the dungeon more than 1 time hard.
