This bothered me as well. The Pale Tree already knows me. I’ve talked with her before. I was the Commander of the Pact. If I came being all like “OMG THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT I NEED TO TALK TO YOU”, one would think she’d see me. :P This bit seemed quite out of place.
It not out of place when she probably knows that our character have seen what Scarlet saw and the meeting will be about the very VERY Dark Secret the Pale Tree has kept a secret becuase it is a type of secret that can’t be told even to her most trusted person she knows.
Well what kind of secret she is hiding it is dark enough to be kept from even the most trusted allies.
Perhaps it maybe information about what the Elder Dragon’s origins or something even more plot twisting or lore defining (being that the lore provided by her could change what we know about GW lore as we know it).
Doubt Trahearne will be targeted since he maybe the Pact Leader but he is not a Leader of Tyria.
Trahearne is a military leader and the reason we would go to him is so we can tell him to begin mobilizing the Pact for a war against Mordremoth.
As a military leader Trahearne fills in the role of….
-Leadership experience (He fought along side each Order before GW2 timeframe by aiding them through military planning against Zhaitan’s forces everytime he encountered the Orders. )
-Politics experience (result from his life time travel dealing with diplomatic issues on his journey)
-strategist experience (result from his life experience fighting against Zhaitan’s minions and aiding each Order before GW2 timeframe. Not to mention our character has a horrible reputation to get a lot of people killed with our choices.)
Things Trahearne lacks in is…
-Personality (one thing everyone can agree on due to his lack of personality during the Main Storyline)
- Combat experience (Despite having fought agaisnt Elder Dragon minions longer than our character, even he admits his skills are better suited in Desk jobs, Politics, and Strategizing military operations rather than fighting.)
If a Leader of Tyria is targeted I’ll guess it will be a Leader of a Race which is Jennah.
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
I was a little concerned by the text responses our character says at the top of the conversation. They go something like this.
“I should see the pale tree”
“That’s great….I`ll do that after I see the pale tree”
“Once we are done I can see the pale tree”
“Yes, that’s why we need to see the pale tree”.It struck me as a bit obsessed.
Well how would you feel after being shocked by who knows how much voltage of electricity. I don’t know how much voltage struck us but it was enough to make our characters hair stand up with electricity moving through our hair. While also getting a strange vision about the Elder Dragons and the Pale Tree at the sametime.
“Indoctrination” from a certain other series also worked this way, being subtle at first, allowing for the victim to pass off as normal to begin with, but then change on the inside as time went on, passing as just fine one moment only to betray their friends/allies the next.
While part of me hopes getting yanked out of there early stopped whatever got Ms. Invasive Weed from getting us, it’s entirely possible that just going in there was enough for it to link with our mind, and it’s just choosing not to make us go crazy until it thinks it can do the most damage.
As I said before Omadd’s Machine is a “Beacon” and we saw a warning about the “Reapers”… I mean Elder Dragons
Next thing we know as we progress through the story our characters will have dreams that continue where the Vision left off and we start seeing parts of the Elder Dragon’s Origins become revealed each vision at a time all the way through Ancient times not recorded in GW history and ending with the final vision showing us how the Elder Dragons were born.

Hi everyone.
I am sceptical concerning the theory that each sphere surrounding the main one is representing a dragon. According to the wiki, the dragons awoke in this order:Primordius (which can be the red sphere)
Jormag (which can be the white sphere, or perhaps the blue one)
Zhaitan (the grey and yellow one)
The deep sea dragon (certainly the blue one)
Kralkatorrik (the purple one)
Mordremoth (the green one). But, the order of the “awakening” of the sphere (if we consider each colour as being correct) is not the order of the awakening of the dragons.
Maybe it does concern the awakening of dragon’s champions, but i’m not aware of the order of them.
Maybe it is the Order which the Elder Dragons were created.
I always had this hypothesis that originally all Elder Dragons were originally one Dragon (Which I call the Mother Dragon due to being the original)
facepalm
A tornado has sucked up chickens. How do we deal with this? HIT IT WITH OUR SWORDS!
So… why are we not cleaving chickens in two? Why are we not being sucked in also? Why does everything in this game boil down to HIT IT WITH YOUR SWORD!?
Wouldn’t it have been better to make it an event that required some skill, such as running and catching the chickens as they are thrown from the vortex within a time limit? Every now and then it would spit out other debris such as eggs that temporarily blinded you, or pieces of chicken coop that caused bleeding?
Why not actually add some depth and reason by having different classes deal with it in a different way? By this I am not talking about just this event but all events. Give us reason to use different classes, to perform a task in a way unique to our actual choices when we made our character, rather than boil everything down into one tactic.
But no. As always… HIT IT WITH YOUR SWORD!!!
Basically, all classes in this game are treated merely as warriors, just with different ways of warring!
Wow… Why so serious?
I’m not talking about mechanics here. I’m talking about how funny it is that the boss is a Chickenado.
Do ninjas jump out when you harvest them?
That would make a interesting harvesting sickle to sell at the Gem store.
Don’t forget that Anet is follow a bit more realistic Military system for the Pact and not just some 100% fantasy military where the leader can just go around the world by himself and expect the military he or she runs to magically not fall a part in his or her long absence.
There is a lot of desk job work a high ranking military official must deal with and the demand for a military leader to help maintain the military organization which requires them to be in the base of operations to organize the Pact scattered around Tyria.
In our current position as Commander we have more freedom and less responsibility to maintain the Pact until we are needed once again for a major battle against a Elder Dragon. It is because of this reason why our character can freely perform the tasks of exploring the world and joining other adventurers in dangerous task rather than waking up everyday and going to the Pact office to perform paperwork that been left on our desk because Pact group 1 needs supples in Shiverpeaks but Pact team 2 needs supplies as well in Ascalon and you only have enough supplies to support 1 of the teams. Then Pact Team A needs a new base of operations and you have to choose where the new base has to be and etc
then you go home and to bed, wake up, and return to Pact office again with more paperwork covering the some of the same issue but in new areas and some new issues in the same areas. Sign a bunch of papers and approve them or don’t approve them.
and then repeat the day all over again.
In short if our character is to have more freedom to perform the adventuer of exploring the world in person the role with the highest responsibility should never go to our character but to another character more suited to that role. Yes trahearne is bland in character but he is the Desk Officer type which is why he can perform the responsibility of being the leader of the Pact more.
Our character isn’t the Desk officer type but the person willing to take action in person on the field.
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
I could be sorely mistaken here, and I’m sure someone in the military will set me straight if I am, but I’ve always been under the impression one is always addressed as their highest rank in the military whether they’re active or not.
That policy usually only follows to members of the military force.
None of the Investigation Team are members of the Pact so they are not bound by the military policy to address our character as Commander like the Pact Members when our character is off duty.
Why not just call us “Commander” again? Aren’t we technically still a commander?
As of now we are currently not on active duty which is why we are wandering around the world freely.
We will be called Commander again once we are in active duty with the Pact.
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
It is because they have no where else to go.
It is a town of shady characters to begin with.
Give the person who created the Chickenado boss a applause because that is one of the most creative boss in this update. :p
By employing the Seer abilities I learned last season from all those people predicting how bad the next patch/LS chapter, regardless of having no evidence at all, I foresee that we won’t be called “boss” next chapter and then everyone will cry about feeling unappreciated and unwanted.
Ah just don’t both because people will find something to complain about in the end.
On that note:
If thing escolate far enough then we may be called into active duty again to become the Commander the Pact to handle the Mordremoth Invasion. This is a full blown invasion we are dealing with right now after all and one caused by a Elder Dragon at that.
I actually got some yellow from the box but on that note….
I think the box should have been a special token that could have been traded in for a new type of weapon skin that was made by Taimi.
Anyone ever consider there might be something wrong with Taimi?
I mean really wrong…She likes Scarlett a little too much…
Think about it
I don’t know. Taimi just acts like any kid that get super excited easily. She is after all a Kid in a Candy store with all these technology and discoveries Scarlet made that will make any Asura famous.
So you want to be the guy in the military force that spends their daily job signing paper work everyday once a Elder Dragon is killed?
Because 60% of Trahearne’s job is filling out paper work in his Office which is something that suits him since he is more of a desk job person.
Also the story already explained the Pact leader can’t be a member of the Order and also must be someone all the Orders trusts.
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
Though design is strange have anyone considered why this weapon skin was released on the Season 2 Living World Episode 2 release which we had a certain strange “Shocking” Mass Effect moment near the ending of Episode 2?
Who knows but maybe the Weapon is a side effect from our character’s experience.
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
I was expecting her to die far later in the story once we start to confront Mordremoth with the Pact.
That may have provided a more impact since that would have allowed them to have Belinda be part of the team for a bit longer and actually get to know Belinda’s character. Sadly they needed a something to make one of the team members emotionally unstable so they picked Belinda for the Death Flag.
Pulling a Aerin would be too cheap of a move for the storyline.
Canach has the potention to play a much more important role as a Anti-Hero Protagonist of the Investigation Team in the Mordremoth Arc now that the world is being threated by Mordremoth.
from my point of view they look like broken off rocks roughly shaped like weapons… not a fan of the colour theme and the “crude” design… but then again thats just my opinion.
Well it could work if you’re going for that Magic using Engineer look.
mass effect..
MASS EFFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is official! Elder Dragons are REAPERS!!!
Ah yes “Reapers”
We have dismissed that notion
Funny thing…
2 weeks from now in Episode 3 of Season 2 Living World we may require us to meet each Race leaders and help them deal with their own “Reaper Problems” before they can help us with fighting Sover… I mean Mordremoth.
But Anet wouldn’t go that far…..or would they?
Attachments:
One mind…. One mind…. Im stuck on one mind….. Could the dragons all be of one???
I actually have a crack pot hypothesis about the Elder Dragons but never took much mind to it because it was just some random hypothesis I made up but…
It is possible the Elder Dragons were originally a single Elder Dragon (which I call the Mother Dragon) and that before recorded GW history the world of Tyria never had any Magic but was a technology advanced world until this Mother Dragon appeared.
When this Mother Dragon was defeated her death brought Magic into the World of Tyria but it also gave birth to the Elder Dragon which represented different aspects of the Mother Dragon’s Power. The Elder Dragons then killed any survivors of this unknown civilization and started consuming the Magic spread around the world resulting with destruction and war with each Elder Dragon fighting over consuming Magic. Once they consume enough magic and starve themselves to death (or go to sleep) the magic they consumed would begin to leak out from their bodies and slowly return to the world so life can begin appearing again. After enough time the Elder dragons awaken again to take back the energy they lost.
and the rest you should already know about.
However, as I said this is a crack pot hypothesis and by no means could be possible for GW2 lore….. or could it? dramatic music!
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
Nahh, we got pulled out before that could happen. I hope we at least can understand what the dragons say now as a side effect. Maybe even start hearing their voices like they’re trying to corrupt us.
Though as much as I would be acting the same way as my character after being shocked by who knows how many voltage of electricity and seeing the Eternal Alchemy I would be a bit concerned if my mind was still intact or Mordremoth may have gotten into my head just enough that we may start hearing his voice as we progress farther into the storyline.
By the way can Engineers get Orbital Strike Lasers now as a new Elite Skill?
mass effect..
MASS EFFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is official! Elder Dragons are REAPERS!!!
It bothers me that both the rifle and the pistol have no hole in the barrel and no moving parts. How do Engineers use different kinds of ammo when the gun doesn’t actually use ammo?
From the design and special effects the Ley line Rifle and Pistol are basically laser guns. Their bullet are just lasers created by the magical energy these weapon generate.
Or you could just call it a magical railgun made out of stone.
Well got myself the new Black Lion Weapon “Ley Line Weapons” just for the sake of having a unique weapon and got to say there are some interesting effect the weapon give off.
Other than having a magical aura around the weapon when being used it also has some sound effect changes.
Both the Ley line Rifle and Pistol will give off a railgun type sound effect when fired.
Though the design appeals more for characters that uses Magic.
So what is your opinion about this new weapon skin?
Ya it was a Mass Effect moment where we saw….
EVERYTHING!!!
From what we saw it may appear that each Orb represented a Elder Dragon.
I know there are two new weapons ( as I mentioned in my earlier post that there would be two new weapon set in the game since Amberite weapons were revealed first)
I’m talking about the new Black lion weapons.
There are two new weapon released this update being Amberite Weapon and the new Black Lion Chest weapon.
I’ve seen some image for the Amberite weapon but don’t like them.
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
Ya I’m looking at the new weapon skin now in ebtter detail and….
NO!!!
I really wanted the weapon to be good but the weapons look like they’re made out of coral.
not to mention it is a black lion chest weapon again.
Ogden also appear in 1 of the Norn personal story steps.
Ya he only has appears in 1 type of personal story mission being the three last Norn Missions where you join the Order as a Norn.
I kind of wish he would appear in more story missions considering how big his role was back in EotN.
Though I am glad he maintained more free will than the other Dwarfs who went through the right.
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
Huh? Ogden Stonehealer, from GW1?
yep and now…
- High Ranking Member and Teacher at the Durmand Priory
- One of the Last Known Dwarf known to still exist
- Historian
- Book Author
and etc.
He made quite the name for himself over the 250 years since he took the right.
He always been there in Gixx’s office since GW2 began.
His quote changes depending on your position in the storyline.
This is a rather typical response to these threads and I feel it misses the point completely. Yes, rushers would be done with the expansion in a few weeks. Why should we normal people care? Playing GW2 until it had very little content left took me over half a year and an expansion would probably occupy me for just as long. However, even for me, the new content in LS tends to take a day to complete. It’s a very small amount of content, unless you’re really fond of farming.
A typical response but also a logical one.
Like I said the amount of content quantity is different for each person.
Each person plays at different pase and values the level content at different rates.
As of now you are only assuming a expansion will fill you up to half a year but in reality that is only a assumption based on your ideal timeframe in your ideal content quntity. For all we know the content of a 1st expansion may only fill you up for 2 to 3 months which is far less time than half a year (6 months).
No one knows as of now what a expansion will bring nor what will be the quantity of that content.
Also Season 2 is only on its first release which is a bit early to say if the content is big enough since it hasn’t pass the 3 month yet due to new parts of the content being released every 2 weeks. We have to first wait and see how much content is released within a 3 or 6 month time frame to be able to compare it to another MMO that would have released all that content on day 1 of a 3 or 6 month content release rather than separating it within a 2 week timeframe.
There’s only the one screenshot of the woman charging a, what looks like to be, sandworm. It’s a greatsword and doesn’t look like any gear we have. My advice would be to watch Dulfy throughout the night tonight and into tomorrow for a comprehensive skin analysis and/or crafting instructions.
Ya I see it now.
Though I don’t think the Amberite Weapons are where the Pistol I saw earlier are from. These new pistols have more tech theme to them rather than some Amberite design.
Almost forgot are there any images of the new weapon’s skin
I want to make certain the new weapons are not different by name only since the new exotic Nomad armor set are just a new type of stat sets that still has the same look as any other exotic armor set.
I’m guessing the Unidentified bugs will be from chests as well.
Well start gathering those keys!
I hope this update is descent and not catering for kiddies. Please no JPS and no mention of scarlet…..again. yawns.
If you didn’t expect mention of Scarlet then you really haven’t been paying attention of how Scarlet was only Subject Zero of the Corruption.
Being Subject Zero, the story of S2 will mentioned her since it is by following what she did during her Younger years when she was studying in the Maguuma Jungle that we will learn about the source of her Corruption (which will ultimately lead to Mordremoth).
Basically S2 is designed as the “retracing the Antagonists A footstep to find Antagonist B” plot which is a common story to follow for a continuation of a storyline when they’re trying to hint that “Antagnoist A” was just a puppet to “Antagonist B”
Of course some times there is a “Antagonist C” pulling the strings of “Antagonist A” and “Antagonist B” which is often use to make people question who is really pulling the strings.
only hours away from the update……
ONLY HOURS AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
So how is everyone keeping their sanity?
I prefer the FREE content updates provided by GW2 every two weeks to the normal subscription MMO method of releasing limited content every 6 months.
Well FF14 is the exception since it releases new content every 2.5 months and 1st expansion will be appear after 2.5 update which won’t be released until 5 – 6 months from now. So we’re looking at 9 months or more for FF14 1st expansion.
But that off topic
Now back on Topic:
the 2 week per content is a nice deal considering the limits GW2 has being a B2P model. It not big as a content release every 3 or 6 months but it still new content.
Also due to how the Living Story revolves around affecting the world of GW2 in a permanent way they can’t rush all the Living World S2 story since they need to keep the story consistent with the Main Story Missions.
Well they could bring back some of the original Elementalist Armor sets from GW1.
Or even better…
Bring back all the old Elite Armor sets from GW1. If Anet did that those classic GW1 Elite armor sets will sale like hot cakes.
Though I do wish they would release the Commando armor set. :p
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
They could just add more elites. They also did this type of thing recently by adding more grandmaster traits.
EDIT: Also my earlier post was a joke. Note the hamstorm reference.
I still prefer more weapon options over more utility skills.
Of course with new weapon for each profession means they will need new traits as well to suit these new weapons.
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
Profession skills have evolved over the years since GW1 era.
As mentioned by Micah Fergson in the Hall of Monuments, the skills of GW2 profession are far more advance than how they were back in GW1.
(Note: Micah Fergson was once a skill trainer in GW1 back when he was alive)
The ability to create bone objects and minions without the sacrifices is part of the advancement Necromencers have developed over the years.
Sadly quantity is different in people’s perspective.
In the end no matter how big the content is people will still blaze through it and then start complaining again the content wasn’t big enough.
Just look at FF14ARR 2.3 release. It looked big but almost all the rushers done everything released in 2.3 already by now due to rushing through the content and we are still 2.5 months away from 2.4 release. Anything now is just repeating the same content over again for dailies or weeklies or just for the sake of repeating them.
You mean Primordus? The Dwarves ascended to “Stone-kin” in order to fight back the Destroyers… not Icebrood.
I’m talking about the Norn
What do you from ascended professions? New skills, weapons? Ok. Lets put those into the game. Now why should you restrict the use of those new skills to ascended characters instead of letting everyone earn them in the regular way? Are skills going to be better just because they come with a fancy title or class quest to unlock them?
They probably will make Ascended profession unlock through a Job quest.
Most likely there will be balancing and upgrades done to old skills and the new skills for PvE use but PvP aspect the skills will probably be adjusted into a PvP version like they did with skills in GW1.
Though the interesting part people can think about is what kind of quest will it be to unlock Ascended Professions since Anet has to keep it a casual level quest. However, it is possible that the Ascended Quest can be made into a part of the Main Storyline in a Future Arc.
Something like our character going through the Trials of the Crystal Desert to Ascend like our GW1 character did to become their Ascended Profession. Of course the final part of the Ascended Quest will have to be the Doppelganger and a Solo Boss fight like in GW1 for our final trial to Ascend.
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
They will start playing a bigger role once we begin the Jormag Arc of the Main storyline.
For now the Mordremoth Arc focus on the Sinister Traid( Inquest, Bandits, and Nightmare Court) and Sylvari.
I actually wouldn’t mind getting my hands on some new skills to use.
Also it would be a good idea to have Ascended Professions provide new weapons like
Engineer now have access to Hammer (Rocket jet designed hammer ;p) and dual daggers or two-handed sword (tesla coil type attacks)
Ranger ascended profession now can allow them to use pistols and rifles
Theifs now have access to longbows (Long range silent kill style skills), rifles (serving as sniper rifle style skills), and can now use sword as a off-hand weapon as well.
Warriors gain access to pistols as a main hand weapon and off-hand weapon (which is currently limited to Warrior NPCs)
Mesmers now have access to pistols as a main hand weapon.
and etc.
(edited by EdwinLi.1284)
Caithe is fine just that she been through a lot of Fed up things in her life.
I mean for starters…
- Her lover turned evil
- One of the 1st born was killed and dissected by Asuras during their first contact.
- She explored the world and saw the corruption of each Race’s government.
- She saw how dark and evil people can become to just to benefit themselves alone.
so ya she appears dark and shady but that only because she seen the darkness of the world and learned to find what little light there is in the world.
Caithe is being worn down by making a huge effort, and getting cut down all the time by most of DE being childish. The one person offering her comfort is one of the bad guys, but also the person she loves. If she did join them, she’d still stop short and come back to join the fight. She can’t help herself, she is who she is, even if it’s wearing at her.
Zojja is looking for someone to blame for Snaff’s death. She refuses to believe that any of it could have been her or his fault, even though they were part of the team.
Logan and Rytlock may make a lot of noise, but they both privately blame themselves for Snaff and Glint dying. You can hear it during the argument in the Dream when Rytlock says he wasn’t able to protect Snaff. Not “we” couldn’t, but “I” couldn’t. Yelling at each other is just how they deal with it.
Eir is the only one besides Zojja that I’d worry about. She too accepts the blame, but with nobody to yell at she’s turned it inwards. She’s flat out suicidal by the Honor of the Waves story, not the best mental state for a leader.
Be glad they didn’t end up turning the Investigation Team into what Destiny Edge became after Snaff’s death becuase Anet original plan was to kill Marjory and use her as the Snaff of the Investigation Team with her death slowly breaking the Team apart.
This would have resulted in…
-Kasmeer becoming emo and suicidal in throught due to Marjory’s death
-Braham would have developed hatred towards Taimi becuase he blames Taimi for holding him back from saving Kasmeer due to the original plot was that during the Battle of Lion Arch Braham would have been held back from joining the final battle against Scarlet since he was busy protecting a injured Taimi
Lucky it didn’t come down to that due to the story changed to have Marjory survive the Battle of Lion Arch since I would hate having to deal with another Destiny Edge Snaff issue thing all over again.
