Individual server linking has been decent? Well, I’m not so sure about that. All I know is that there are 7 servers linked against my 2 servers. I can’t understand that. Why on God’s green earth would Anet link 4 servers together for one, then link 3 servers together for another one and then link 2 servers together. Why is it decent that my 2 server linked side is facing up against a quad linked server and a triad linked server? 4 + 3 = 7 against 2.
I don’t understand.

I hear you. We have same problem.
lol – with those #s how did ANY “reds” in that group get downed?
It’s interesting you notice that. The “reds” you see dead or downed are SF. CD’s zerg is steamrolling over SF’s zerg on their way to my little group of 4 or 5.
LOL
But, we don’t care. We always manage to kill one or two before we succumb to the wizardry of Anet’s WvW mechanics.
I’d also like to point out, CD never engages us unless and until they are in their zerg. When my partner and I encounter 1-3 of them out there, we pursue, but they always run. What’s up with that? I mean, come on.
Not all players on CD fight only in blobs. I quite frequently will take a camp with another CD player while 1 or 2 players are trying to defend it. We don’t always run. Only time I run is when I really just don’t feel like fighting anyone.
We haven’t run into you yet unless you’re that thief that wrecks me and my partner every time. Well, almost every time. We’ve caught on to him/her and he/she makes mistakes that cost him/her dearly. And I have to laugh at this. When one thief can take us both out … it’s either laugh or nerd rage and I just laugh about it.
I hear you. We have same problem.

wait wait wait, dbl = lesser problem? let’s not get too extreme.
Outnumbered 7-2 for the past 3 weeks? dbl? hmmmm, yeah….bout the same.I would rather be playing DBL for the past 3 weeks than this kitten matchup we have in T4.
lol, i am with ya
literally, since i am on ebay
but dbl? really? deep breath in, deep breath out ….there must be a better way
I’m on Ebay too and we are not happy being paired up with DH as it is, but this nonstop blobbing is so tiresome, we’ve gone somewhat inactive. Two months of this is more than I care for. WvW can die for all I care. I do a little here and there for dailies and WvW reward track, but my partner and I limit ourselves to the borderlands. The lag issues and the 3+-1 outnumber ratios make us seriously reconsider how we allot our game time.
I know people a whole lot smarter than me develop this kittenzz and all I can say is, huh? You don’t need to be a genius to know the deleterious effects blobbing day in and day out is going to have on players. And for the love of God, letting it continue for 2 months only compounds the WvW fatigue I and many others are experiencing.
I love the character improvements from HoT. I love the elite specializations. I HATE nerfs and LOVE character improvements. As long as Anet improves our characters, builds them up, I’m happy.
All I ever see is crybabies crying for nerfs. Wah wah.
I love Revenant/Herald and elite specializations. Those are major improvements in my opinion.
But, I am so sick and tired of all the Crystal Desert blobs. WvW is ruined because of HUGE blobs.
I can’t figure out why my world doesn’t have as many players in WvW as the other worlds. I log in and I usually find the outnumber icon up. Between CD and SF, my world is always outnumbered.
The huge blobbing is big drag on internet/computer. The lag is an issue for others more than me. My comp and internet can handle it. But the blobbing is major headache all around.
I do love the ss attachments! haha
I recall last season in Amber and most of Emerald Divisions, win ratios were much, much higher. But, as the divisions progress and the higher ranked, more pvp active players continue, player talent begins to shape the progression of pvp from there. But, when you reach a point of 20 losses in a row, or 20 wins consistently, day in and day out, whichever, odds don’t favor that.
Class stacking was a huge problem last season and I would have thought Anet would have corrected that in the matchmaking system.
I guess I thought wrong — or maybe, just maybe, Anet does not view class stacking as an issue at all.
I wanted to hear about the Season 3 matchmaking system. Last season was a nightmare and I recall one of the Anet pvp devs commenting in a thread that they were “aware of problems the matchmaking system was causing” and working on correcting or improving it or whatever.
That, to me, means there was some problem they were aware of and had fixed for the new season.
But, I’m not the best pvp’r in any game, but I’m also not the worst and odds are that I should not be losing 10-15 matches in a row. Odds don’t favor those kinds of losing streaks for any player in any game.
So, with that said, I will not be participating in pvp this season as the matchmaking queue sounds like it is the same as last season’s. I just don’t need the anguish and frustration.
I love guardians/dragon hunters. I love my staff on my guardian even though it’s not a useful weapon. I spend most of my time supporting groups in DS with huge empower buffs and symbols to kill mobs faster and progress through the event as quickly as possible.
In my opinion, it really seems to me when I’m on my guardian with her staff and empowering the group and increasing damage with my swiftness symbol and symbol of wrath and traps, the mobs die noticeably faster.
I think my guardian is useful. (My guardian killed a smokescale mob (admit, it wasn’t a veteran smokescale) in Tangled Depths with just her empower buff and symbol of swiftness. That’s way cool.)

I’m not sure it’s necessary to have a new boon to deal with condi. I think condi is dealt with by increased vitality and condition removal skills.
But, in a more global picture, condition damage is great so long as it’s not removed. But, I really like the types of skills that can “mirror” conditions back to the sender. I’d like to see all 25 stacks of bleed, poison or vulnerability mirrored back to necros even more than just removing them. That’s way more fun.
When the developers were developing all this new content and elite traits, I was perplexed to see a great sword for the necro class. It’s a light armored class and the great sword is purely melee.
I can’t get it with melee’g in light armor. It just seems counterintuitive to me. But, I do like the great sword on my necro and it’s nice in pve when you aren’t up against such tough mobs.
I liked it in pvp too, but in a very limited capacity.
And then there is putting a staff on a heavily armored class like revenant and guardian. But, it’s diverse and I’m sure that’s the goal.
I had always thought from the beginning that the duration of moa was too long. That was just my opinion.
I think a 6 second duration is far more reasonable.
That’s just my opinion. I mained a Mesmer when I started this game and took it farther than any of my other chars. But I never depend on moa skill in pvp. So, I understand for those that do depend on it, they can be pretty angry about it.
CS with moa takes skill. I rarely saw it in pvp. But, I’m not in the diamond or legendary league, so those players I’m sure can pull it off seamlessly. I’m still fumbling with CS and time warp mostly at boss events and whatnot. But that’s not to take away from the more skilled mesmers that can snap out CS moa or CS time warp fluidly every time.
I wish that I could purchase more shared inventory slots. I have the maximum amount I’m allowed to buy.
But, yes, I wish they would consider making an entire shared inventory bag. I would expect to pay a lot more for it than just 700 gems, of course, but I’m willing for the convenience.
And, YES, thank you very much Anet for the free shared inventory slot you gave all of us. Some don’t seem grateful, but most all of us are very grateful for that.
Treat the disease, not the symptom. Fix balance.
Balance among the classes is one thing, balance among teams is another. If you’ve fixed a class balance issue, there is still a balance issue when 3 or more of the same class, (let’s say 4-5 tempests) team up.
So, definitely, I would like to see the queues restricting parties with 3 or more of the same class. How that would affect the queue times, I can’t say. Matches are made with what’s available at a given time.
I am extremely happy with the update where it pertains to the rewards. I don’t like spending time doing arduous tasks for poor rewards.
But, I am quite disturbed with the amount of issues in events now. People I’m playing with have lag issues that make the events impossible to perform. It seems like the maps are overcrowded and graphical effects are too high even when one lowers them in their graphics options.
I feel as though we are all being packed like sardines in a can. Some people’s internet cannot handle Dragon Stand event, or Tarir event or WvW events since this latest update. It wasn’t a problem before, but it is a problem now.
Lag spikes and poor performance running the game since this patch is very noticeable whereas I’ve not seen it before quarterly update.
Give us cleanse and I’ll happily give up some damage
No you won’t, because you do. You have two legends that can handle conditions, but you don’t run them because you don’t want to give up the damage that Glint/Shiro provide.
Mallyx is reserved for condi builds which not everyone wants to run. Ventari is straight up useless and suggesting to replace either Shiro or Glint with it makes you look stupid.
No, your response is moronic. You said give up damage for some cleanse. You have that option now, but guess what? You don’t want to give up the damage and utility of the other two legends. Your statement should read, “I want to keep all of the damage and utility of Shiro/Glint AND want cleanses”. Just because you don’t want to play it, don’t say it isn’t available to you.
Why don’t you show us how viable Ventari is?
Hey superstar…did anyone say it was viable? You quite plainly said you would give up some damage for cleanses. You have the option, but you’re not willing to give up the damage for the cleanses.
I will give up damage for cleanses. I will not give up viability for cleanses, which I should not even have to say. It is a basic assumption that viability comes first. Learn the kittening difference and quit being dense.
Well said, Beep. And I understood your point perfectly. I’m sure most players that read what you said understood you as well.
Thank you for the shared inventory slot you gave all of us for free.
Elementalists that try to dps on a heal build are the worst.
Wow, you are so correct. But, heal build eles are called upon to take out door breakers at times if no one is around. Gotta be able to at least do that.
My auramancer can knock you off a treb, but can’t destroy the treb. haha
I loved (NOT) the premade tempest team we had to play against. Yeah, that was so fun. Fun, fun, fun.
Leave Search and Rescue alone.
I don’t like the idea of Eir or Tybalt even because they were beloved chars in stories and we have to attack and kill them in Stronghold. I don’t want to have to be attacking and killing Eir every dam day in Stronghold please.
Leave elite specializations alone.
Try to take it down as auramancer. haha
GW2 will never be perceived balanced because players aren’t equal. There is imbalance between the skills of players. One player’s skill level is superior to the others. Any guesses as to which player between them perceives imbalance in the game and skill sets?
I’ve been around this game quite a while and many other games too. And I see the same whining in here (called suggestions) that I see from multiple player bases in other games. Coincidence?
But, I could make a suggestion about allowing a warrior to have a one shot kill type skill and nerf it nerf it nerf it! And, if they did, warrior would be even less attractive to play that apparently it is now.
So, I’d say beef up the warriors a bit. It’s as good a suggestion as any other player (busy telling me how clueless I am) and it might not make it into the game. So, why wouldn’t it make it into the game? It’s a good suggestion. Why not put in game?
Maybe they are doing something else for warrior even better or maybe not so good.
But, no, devs don’t do their jobs, do they? So, here we are, needing the player base to tell them how to build characters, how to nerf them to our satisfaction — well, not really. Balance will never be achieved because your perception of balance is different than mine. So, if I think the game is imbalanced and you don’t, what do the poor devs do — besides their jobs apparently?
Players aren’t equal. Characters will never be perceived balanced between the skill levels of players. Devs know this. They know this even better than I do. They know this and they develop characters of varying degrees of complexity for the challenge and enjoyment of a diverse player base. You can balanced characters, but you can never have “balance” between players. Players are not equal and never will be.
I remember before the HoT expansion, they did some rebalancing or changing that put in all these specializations and core traits, whatnot. They wound up improving all the classes in my opinion by allowing many core traits that players didn’t select to become passive. That was big improvement as far as I am concerned.
Now they improve characters even more with elite specialization and I hear players calling for nerf of that. Wow.
But in any game, players playing it long enough figure out the most effective and competitive builds and everyone either has to go with it or counter it to some extent. That always takes away choices and unique possibilities for diversity. It’s the same old story from one game to the next, power burst, high crit dmg glass canon chars versus high evasion, high toughness/vitality low damage type support chars.
It’s not different here than any other game I’ve played so far.
Every single game I play, the player base is telling the devs how to “fix” or “balance” chars and what needs nerf. And … it is always intimated they aren’t doing their jobs. Every game I play, the devs won’t fix anything because they aren’t “doing their jobs.” Did it occur to someone that maybe they DON’T NEED FIXING and it’s just players complaining about skills or mechanics they aren’t able to understand or handle well?
Lol this one is funny, it was bound to hppen with this matchmaking. I mean leet0 made it to legebdary in 22 hours. So what were you expecting?? “Easy come, easy go”. Your post is proof that this season has failed.
The season have to be longer not shorter.
How does one get to legendary in 22 hours? They must win absolutely every match?
I know some are more skilled in pvp than others, but there’s other factors, like teams, good teams, bad teams … etc.
Search and rescue is a very strong skill that is important. It’s handy when you need the res; isn’kitten But when you trying to stomp lord or someone and they do it, ah, pretty inconvenient. wah wah.
I agree, against good team, there’s no guarantee they will succeed in res’g.
edited 3x to try to fix weird censorship issue.
Warrior with rifle put me in downed state in one shot. So, they have pretty hard core skill right there. Warrior one shot and Mesmer moa transform are game breakers for me. I don’t usually recover from either of those.
Why do we always have people telling the devs how to build the characters, rework them, rebalance them or nerf them?
IT MAKES ME SO MAD.
They do a great job. I cringe enough as it is thinking about the possibility they will wreck my characters any more than they already have.
My power MESMER IS USELESS NOW after I put all that time and effort into her ascended gear and weapons. I don’t know what to do with her now. I can’t even work with her effectively in pve let alone pvp.
STOP NERFING AND STOP TELLING DEVS TO REBALANCE OR NERF OR REWORK CLASSES.
end rant. (I’ll feel better after a cookie.)
I’ve experienced lag spikes in pvp. It seems like they drag on forever, but it’s really about 3 seconds of frozen screen and then back at it.
Never occurred to me it was someone cheating. Yeah, one time it happened when I triggered a DH’s traps and when the lag spike ended, I was only half health and recovered quickly. Don’t think anyone is cheating, just think it’s stuff in the internet that I don’t understand.
As I said, kind of, I try to balance out the toughness and HP. I am not so tanky in water attune, but I’m bunkering quite a bit.
Consider the sigil of purity: 60% chance on hit to remove a condition. But, a necro + minions will stack me down faster than I can remove even with my auras (+ their damage reduction) going.
By the way, I generally receive top player stats for damage received most every match. haha. What does that tell you?
I have no “thief hate.” I have a healthy awareness of them. I have seen really good thieves turn team fights. Good thieves with huge power burst damage, or whatever it is, can literally knock me (I’m the auramancer) off my game briefly.
I’ve had thieves come after me and try to kill me 1v1 but give up and move on. That same thief can take a necro out with some kind of stunlock + backstab (unless I happen to be there) with no problem.
I don’t hate thieves, but I’m pretty cautious around them. haha
Clerics with soldiers and signet of earth is 3218 armor with 2330 toughness while in earth and 3068 armor outside of earth with 2180 toughness. That is according to my pvp build panel. Also if you did a control on it you could have triggered eye of the storm which can hit you with weakness or any of the shouts actually
You have amazing toughness and armor stats, but at what cost? Were that you had 20k HP to go along with that. I’d hope you are removing condi faster than necros and their minions are stacking on you. I use the sigil of purity to help me with that.
I use magi amulet and rune of earth for my auramancer and I have 20k HP and roughly 1505 toughness and 2393 armor. It’s the best I’ve come up with so far to balance vitality and toughness. I was using rune of radiance which gives about 2k more HP, but drops your toughness.
So far, I’m happy with it. I can’t stand long when I’m being focused down, but it will take 3 or more players to get me. I couldn’t hurt a fly though. I keep hitting anyway to trigger the purity sigil as often as possible.
I’m sorry I went off topic. I was intrigued by the post I quoted.
Just to let you know, you are not alone. I’m stuck at tier 3 sapphire too. I win some, lose more. I play with my friend, it’s he and I together queuing and we “get what we get” for a team.
I think premade is the way to go, though you will probably get queued up with other premade teams. But, for me, at least if our team is together in TS, we can communicate what we need to do.
Will I ever get to lock down tier 4 and tier 5 of sapphire and get to ruby? Well, not at this rate. Is it because I’m bad pvp’r? Well, not really. Am I a legendary pvp’r stuck in sapphire because of bad match making? Doubt it. I don’t think I have the pvp ability to get past ruby, though right now, I can’t get to ruby. The teams I get put in with are usually not coordinating well with us.
I am experiencing exact same thing here in NA after hitting legendary x2.
I think it is time to take a break from ladder. We can still improve have fun by dueling or playing unranked. Playing against vastly superior opponents again and again just seems too frustrating for me.
I’d sure hate to run into you in unranked. I never pvp during off season because all the “pros” are in unranked and, as you say, ’ “playing against vastly superior opponents again and again just seems too frustrating for me.” ’
Me too.
But for those of us less skilled pvp’rs, we always wonder why legendary or diamond players would even want to queue lesser skilled teams. I thought they wanted the challenge of skilled pvp against players of their same caliber …
This is happening to me quite frequently. It’s a pretty sick feeling to be standing there locked in place unable to move.
But, I didn’t know sitting or dancing would fix it. So, thanks guys. Now I know what to do when it continues to happen to me over and over and over.
Back to topic, I am sick of necros. I’m sick of seeing 2-3 necros on teams. I’m sick to death of necros. 2-3 of them on every team. 2-3 of them on my team, 2-3 of them on other team.
When a class is that overrepresented, there’s a reason for it.
Because if you can’t defeat those diamond…then you don’t belong in diamond division. Fought sapphire in emerald, ruby in sapphire, diamond in ruby..and legendary in diamond, it happens at all divisions at T5-6
There is more sense of achievement to decisively beat the odds and defeat higher ranked players. Though, I don’t like this because that isn’t an advantage in your favor. Tell me it isn’t a sweeter victory to beat a higher ranked player? It could be that they’re having a bad day, made a critical error, had internet issues, whatever it could be, and you beat them, it’s sweet.
BTW, I’m a sapphire that just locked tier 2 and I have already been up against rubies at that tier. So, I’m not sure what the matchmaking rules are about mingling the divisions in matches.
I don’t see how the system can be designed to match the actual skill of participants with comparable opponents. There are so many variants to unique individual players on the human level that computer science can’t predict or recreate. They can work with “results” and go from there, but that’s after all the actions that brought about the result have occurred.
Human beings adapt/react instinctively. You can write a program to predict what might be considered a “proper human instinctive reaction” to such and such stimulus but never be able to properly account for any and all circumstances that might trigger one response or another from the player.
If any program developer can do it, they’d be God … maybe.
How do you balance pvp? How do game developers balance the classes between players of varying skill?
No matter what game it is, balance is always a grievance the player base has. Anything players have trouble with or are defeated by becomes a problem of balance. A player has one chance to counter a certain thing from other class and blows it, it’s a balance issue!
I’ve seen so much ruined by “balancing” and “rebalancing” in so many games and have to worry about more damage being done than good because of player grievances on what they perceive to be “balance” issues.
I don’t know why anyone would say DH is too weak. I find them very challenging. And in a team against 3 DHs, I would have a very challenging match that could go either way.
The rankings aren’t static. A guild team good enough to win five matches and suffer zero losses and land in a place in the top 200, but isn’t playing for a period of time, is going to become statistically irrelevant in the rankings. Other active guild teams will take its place.
I just broke into sapphire and locked down the first tier. And, predictably and expectedly, the matches are becoming more challenging.
The only encouragement I can offer is just to tell you that I am going through the same thing. So are many of my friends. We are struggling. We win some and lose some. I actually lose far more than I win some days. My last 10 game statistics look very similar to yours. You aren’t the only one.
