Your skin will wrinkle and your youth will fade, but your soul is endless.
One reason I like making Charr. They are extremely easy to name.
[Cool Name] [space] [Scary/Angry thing]+[Scary/Angry thing]
Substitute the scary/angry adjective with whatever general mood/motif that fits your character and PRESTO, you have a cool, unique and lore-fitting Charr character.
Same thing with asura.
[Title][space][asura name]
It’s incredibly easy. Op is just being lazy.
I’ve already named my raptor, and she’s great.
I made a Demo character. Not giving it a lot of thought, I chose a name. It was taken. I added one letter at the end, and voila! Name not taken.
Surely, we all can come up with names ‘not taken’.
You’d think so….
I’ve made several new chars this year. No problem getting a name. Just give it a first and last name, and don’t choose obvious names from popular movies and books.
Pretty much what I do. 15 characters now (and counting?) and I have yet to have a problem with naming my characters.
~shrugs~
As someone who was cautious about adding mounts to the game, I absolutely love how the raptor is right now. I’m sold.
Good job Anet! ~thumbsup~
It’s a choice between realism and the feel of control VS convenience. I prefer mount as it is now, the animation is smooth and it felt like i’m actually driving something.
I like it this way too. ~shrugs~
Autorun works for my mount.
Good tip, my new character will be ready!
I just saw one on someone yesterday. Is it a gem store thing or was it added to the commander menu?
If the latter ….. no, just no. That menu should not be for bling.
You have to get it in WvW maps.
And I don’t have a problem with it. ~shrugs~
FYI, I live in Anet’s time zone (Pacific), and it’s only 5:20am at the time of this post. I think we all have a bit of a wait yet.
~snip~….because frankly being a human in a fantasy world is kind of boring.
Finally, something I can agree with!
Horse head on a broomstick.
Tengus have no use for gliders! Still awesome to see a flock of Tengus flying.
There’s a Tengu NPC in Caledon that states that he/they cannot fly.
I’ll take a dragon head commander tag please.
My ears are saved!
It’s time to leave staff behind. It was a good five years, but christ did it get boring.
Speak for yourself.
Did anyone use Wave of Wrath for any reason but as a lootstick?
I only used mine AS a lootstick in the Labyrinth and the Leather Farm.
Hopefully this will prevent most guards from just 1,1,1ing.
Translated: “Oh no, most guardians aren’t doing what I want them to do!”
Yeah this is bad. I guess I’ll be using something else for Lake Doric.
Most of all as a GW1 player, going back to Elona and seeing the old stuff combined with new stuff is the most exciting thing
As a Guild Wars 1 veteran, this is what I’m most excited about as well.
It’s called the loot stick for a reason.
Not anymore….
Even though the reset is on Monday, I’ve made it a habit to run my key character as my first activity on Saturday morning. That’s easy for me to remember.
Well, sorry to see you lea…….oh.
Dangit!
Yet another “WoW does it so we should do it here” thread…
One of my best friends bought the original Guild wars game. Then, another friend bought him a Droks run and gave him the Plat to get armor. Left to his own devices, he then grabbed a bunch of henchmen and at level 4 or so wandered out into the Shiverpeaks which was at the time one of the hardest areas in the game for max level (20) characters.
ANet, since GW first released, has been fond of making their games and seeing what people do with them. The more info put into the game as to the best ways to do things, the more they would limit player inquisitiveness and ingenuity. To me, that makes for a far better game than one in which everything is on rails.
Obviously, the OP prefers a lot more more structure. For me, though, I had absolutely no trouble figuring out what to do in GW2. In fact, I could have done with less structure, particularly after the NPE was put in to try to make the game more accessible to those who had never played an MMO.
You know, that sounds a lot like me when I was playing Guild Wars in 2005. I had no idea what I was doing, just one map after the next, one mission after the next.
I bought Elite Noble for my mesmer because it looked great on her/ Never bothered to put sigils or runes on her or her weapons, because I had no clue about them really. And I somehow beat Prophecies like this…just using henchmen. I never grouped with anyone.
EDIT: Actually, I did group up in one mission, where you have to kill the leaders within a minute of killing the underlings?

Beautiful, ALL of them.
Nice work OP! I really do hope this thread gets more traction because I want to see more.
…And Zinn’s Study Guide.
My necromancer is actually terrified of spiders (like me) so…
…ew!
250 years have passed. Ppl of all races have had time to move around/explore.
Not with the Dragons and Joko blocking practically all routes.
The entire 250 years?
Well, the new logo is rather whirly, and what does a dervish do?
There may be hope yet.
The big, main role play hot spot is in the Salma District of Divinity’s Reach, usually on the Tarnished Coast server shard. There are many other places, but that’s the main one.
Hoverboard so I can surf the dune waves.
Just like humans got?
I think a human face on a Charr would look a little awkward.
At least it would stop some of the clipping with face masks… :\
Ouch…
Do you think there will be an animation when you mount? I hate when you summon your mount and it just appears beneath you (SWTOR, Rift, WoW). Games like ESO, BDO, LOTRO, etc all have a quick mount/dismount animation and I feel it really adds to immersion.
Any one know yet?
Yep, WoodenPotato shown it. Its a nice realistic POOFFF! … and there you go.
Ugh, that just screams lazy to me
As one of my favorite forum poster’s signature states: Be careful what you ask for, Anet just might give it to you.
People demanded mounts, Anet gave mounts. I’m not at all surprised that mounts aren’t delivered as people expected.
I find this mount aversion perplexing. A mount, at least in this case, is like a tool. If I didn’t like keys, I wouldn’t avoid locked doors. I’d pick up the key, open the lock put the key away and not think about it.
This just feels like taking a stand to just to take a stand to me.
I don’t like mounts because immersion. How is a mount less immersive than walking everywhere? There are animals in the game. Races domesticate animals (including devourers used by charr in the game), seems to me that nothing could be more natural than riding a mount…for immersion.
In truth walking everywhere doesn’t make as much sense as riding a mount.
I think a lot of it has to do with mount trolling in other games. Standing on top of NPCs, blocking views, clutter everywhere, etc.
I myself, was rather anti-mountish, but that’s because I was a a Guild Wars 1 traditionalist.
Now, after seeing them in the announcement video, I’m reservedly excited. I’m just hoping they’re disabled in cities.
…..and another thing I was thinking of was a Open World PvP Area for Crystal Desert with a vendor of pvp rewards from killing other players……
I, for one, hope this never happens.
Here is a gallery of them http://dulfy.net/2017/08/01/gw2-new-hairstyles-and-faces-in-total-makeover-kit/
Note that Dulfy did not alter slider settings to take the new face shapes into account so her gallery makes them look a bit grotesque. Not her fault, she shouldn’t have to fully remake an alt just to show us, plus it takes a good amount of time to do that. But take that into account when viewing. The male faces in particular have a huge range of appearance and a lot of chiselled faces. One of them looks excellent for an older, weathered vizier type.
I tweaked my Canthan-descent necro into a pretty wild Elonan (did not commit, so it’s from the kit view). And that was without really going whole hog on face structure to suit the ethnicity.
Wow, she looks great!

Yes, we have strategic partners all lined up and they will be offering Path of Fire within the next few weeks.
As Gamestop is an authorized retailer I am guessing Gaile’s post applies to them as well.
Nice!
I’m that odd bird that likes to pay for things with hard cash, so this will work out for me.
Too late, too little
What we really need, is a Dragon for riding, so we can burn down every structure, building, boil the sea and tear mountains apart with a single breath.
That will teach these casuals and F2Ps a lesson
As a super-casual, why do I need a lesson? And how will I learn this lesson from mounts?
They do look great, but they’re ONLY for humans.
Why would the other races have new hairstyles with the expansion when they have nothing to do with the new region?
Maybe the other races that are going to that region saw some new and interesting hairstyles and were inspired?
If I could turn off other players effects, I’d also like to turn off their backpacks and wings too.
Did you check all the way along the list? The new ones for humans were added at the end of the list instead of the beginning, which threw me at first.
Admittedly I haven’t checked charr myself because my charr character is in the middle of Orr and I don’t want to bring him back to town just to look at hair.
There was a post in reddit about this. Seems to be only human hair styles at this time.
I guess I’ll have to keep waiting for long hair styles for asura. :/
okay…
I’m SOOO ready to preorder an Ultimate Edition RIGHT NOW!
You just want to be a tentacley thing, don’t you?
Thanks for all of the feedback! I live in an area that fortunately has a lot of other options to pick from in regards to buying gem cards. I like using them over a credit card.
Same here. It’s a lot easier to control gem store impulse buying with cash.
I can also corroborate what trailofsalt has observed: In several of my local Target’s, not only have the cards disappeared but there is no longer a stock location or tag for them. They are truly gone from my local stores.
They’re gone from ALL my Target stores around me as well (I have about 7 stores in a 10 mile radius from me, Southern California).
Fortunately, my two local Game Stops still carry them.

Reading this I wonder if it’s a bug. Had smooth sailing on a power reaper with zero support skills, just kept killing sparks and ressed her one time she went down (sparks didn’t spawn THAT fast, at least for me). Seems odd others have to go this far to keep her running.
I had largely the same results with my power necro. Livia did die once, but I was able to get her up and running again and beat the battle with her still alive.
