I haven’t seen his blog but I’ve heard all over about Helseth saying that with this change a PU Condi can now take and hold a point in spvp. And maybe he was speaking about this in negative terms but to me it makes a once unviable spec in spvp viable. Makes for more diversity. Not to mention the fact that Condi mesmers may now NOT HAVE to have that PU crutch but can thrive without it opening up even more builds.
“PU is already op 1v1 and solo roaming” yadda yadda yadda blah blah. No respectable dueling server allows PU anyway. And this game needs to be balanced around spvp and team play not 1v1 and solo roaming.
If its so terrible they can nix it fast enough like they did the awesomeness of the original power block. My prediction is that it will end up being Bleed Torment Clone with clones doing bleed on auto as the finished product sometime in the near future.

So I play almost all the classes. I am working on my 4th champ title and it is on necromancer. I have just started this process tho so I am kinda new with her.
My question is why can’t we just keep our utilities while in death shroud? Then we could use some of our defensive utilities like flesh worm or spectral armor. Armor would give us protection for less lf drain and each hit would add lf as well. I am not suggesting this is the only buff we need. But I don’t see a downside to having access to our utilities while in ds. And having “mained” other classes against necros I wouldn’t consider this OP either. But as I said, I just started the Prof having about 100 games and 55ish wins. I have been playing both power and Condi to try to find what I like best. So far its 62006 wells and lich.

What the hell is that? Am I missing something? Why would you trait so deep into retal with 900 atk? I think you should have taken 10 minutes to build this..30 secs to say wtf am I thinking then another 10 minutes to build just about anything not resembling the first build
Honestly, I don’t have any hope for this patch. The dagger hitting an extra target is nice, but at this point I feel it is just too little. My list of grievances with the necromancer is magnanimous on traits alone, let alone the general ineffectiveness of utilities and weapons. I imagine what we’ll get with this patch is Signet of Undeath boosting LF generation to 1.2% every 3 seconds, and then a several month wait before another change.

and still my main point that no one can dispute. Just give it up. If you think the warrior nerf is ok, just argue that point. Please don’t try to argue that a Mesmer has two punishment to use clones. The shatter has a cooldown and the skill that makes the clone has a cooldown. Im trying to relate to you that by your argument, the Mesmer should have a build up bar before he can release a clone. Do you think that’s fair?
The warrior will be the first character that will be punished twice for the same mistake. He will lose the power build AND have the cooldown. I don’t know why ppl don’t get that. If you think that is fair, FINE. But please don’t try to explain to me that other charactors face that problem too. All skills and build up skills just have a cooldown EXCEPT the warrior will now lose everything AND a cooldown.
I think it needs to be pointed out (maybe it was already and I overlooked it) that after whiffing and losing all adrenaline you have a cooldown that runs at the same time as your adrenaline regen. If the CD is 10 seconds and you don’t attain full adrenaline for 14 seconds the CD was irrelevant. The reverse is also true.
Its not really a double punishment if they run at the same time. Its not like you have to wait for the CD to be over to begin regening adrenaline.
Buy a mirror, look deep deep into it, you shall find it’s not just the “noobs”.

Agreed. Really sucks to be a Condi spec in legacy for example and try to down the gate..I might as well dry hump it because it might break faster.
I was just wondering, when will ANET realize how OP is Guardian’s healing (in PvP including WvW)and when can we expect it to be nerfed? Such nerfs where done on other classes in past so I wanna know when can I see this one.

Yeah of course! I have won a couple 4v5s. But this one was a goner 3xx to 0xx and my teammates were also afk. I wasn’t about to jump down and get farmed.

Like the title said my question is about support guardians in Solo Q. I know they are an important part of a good team in Team Q but that is with an organized team, on team speak etc.
As a support guard I have noticed recently that I have been losing more games than I should. The thing is I have been playing well. I have stayed alive, kept my team up, secured stomps and rezes with my stability giving abilities, even bunkered points solo for minutes on end until help could arrive.
But still losing.
So I got to wondering… Maybe going full support (AH, Virtues builds. Even with int. sigils) and having so little offense is gimping my team. There is no way I can kill anyone 1v1…like ever.
When I play my turret engineer(I know everyone hates it and AI is bad for the game and all but that’s another topic for another day) I can bunker a point and kill almost anything that comes knocking while giving out boons via experimental turrets trait. It gives far far les support than a guard but way more damage and cc. I have 256 rated soloq games on my Engi and 151 wins(Champ Genius title just this week yay!)
Sorry kinda sidetracked TL:DR Is a full on support guard a bad choice for soloQ compared to other bunkers/supports because of lack of offense?
I’d like to thank all the people who came on here with advice for me. I already feel like I am being more effective and importantly I feel much more relaxed. I don’t have the same frustration and anxiety of “Am I doing the right thing”. I am having fun again. I even take the lead a lot more now in groups that have no one talking. I figure even a noob leader calling out targets and spawn times is better than haphazard zerglings running all over. Got another question for you guys but I am going to put it in a new topic called “Is Support Guard Gimping”

I realize I’m in the minority, but I actually enjoy the idea of the map. It challenges players to focus on how they are positioned as a misplay could easily cause your death. There are so many ways you can position yourself to minimize getting KO’d, it really shouldn’t be a problem. .
I would almost agree with you if 2 of the capture points weren’t insta kill positions for stealth pullers. Can’t cap without stealth pull death. Can defend somewhat, unless you fight on point…you know… to hold it, at which point you get stealth pulled.
Only almost agree tho. Not being able to dodge hammer is another issue. Matter of fact if you remove the glass panels from A C and Hammer and let me dodge hammer blasts I will never create another skyhammer post or topic again.
I would go so far as to say having glass panels all around B but letting A and C be 1 shot kill free would even be a vast improvement. That way all the engies can touch each other’s magnets while the rest of us actually PvP

Went from 300s 2 days ago and 400s yesterday to 95% today. I have lost 16 of 17. No matter what I do I lose. Bunker support guard lose, Med zerker lose, Med celestial lose, hybrid lose, play good lose, play bad lose, good team lose, bad team lose,wait ten minutes to queue lose, queue right away lose, great team comp lose, 3 thieves and a PU condi mesmer lose, skyhammer 2 engies lose, spirit watch run the orb lose, don’t run the orb lose, run and cap lose, try condi necro Ruins of Nifhel with Josre WIN and ty for the pep talk and advice, every other game without Josre lose. condi necro from that point on lose, minion master lose, lich powermancer lose.
I want to say its me but it isn’t me. I aint a great player. Not even really good. But I am better than what happened today. I had zerg teams, bunker teams, rage quit after mid loss teams, teams with Legendary Champions helping the home bunker cap home before running mid :/ , teams, people asking me how we score points teams. I had such a bad run of kitten happen today I am reeling.

This is the second time I have had a slide like this. It is weird that once it starts I just keep losing game after game. Last time I hit 92% before I finally got things straightened out and back down to where I normally live in the 300-700 range.

You have not a hope in hell of finding that out, GLHF. Keep your head on a swivel and make sure you don’t IMMEDIATELY get back-capped and that’s the best that you can do.

Sometimes I feel like a deer in headlights, so worried about doing the wrong thing and feeling like a donkey that I just end up staying and defending home because its the ….safer choice I guess.
I know you are gonna tell me to watch the pros but I have. I see WHAT they do but I have a hard time discerning WHY they’re doing it.
I know people say just look at the map! But..the map doesn’t always show where every enemy is so I can’t always tell WHERE those 2v2 or 3v3s are for me to go swing in our favor.
I don’t want to be a NOOB. I don’t want all of the people who “get it” to carry me. I consistently play around 300-700 on the ladder so you might see me on there. Used to be Mini Bunker but I changed to Here Comes The Boon so I wasn’t always pidgeonholed into being a bunker.
And my engii Massah Blassah. With Massah I am just a bad turret cheese player so I KNOW I am just going to pick a node and hold that kitten come hell or high water and I usually do.
If I play support bunker guard yeah I am gonna go wherever the biggest fight is. But as a bunkerish MED guard or any other kind of dps role..

Then the mesmers can cry when they nerf PU, phantasms and shatters while still completely ignoring the ridiculous amount of bugs that have been around for as long as I have been playing.
Then the Necros can cry about the lichform losing stability (prediction) and the fact that their minions still have better things to do than attack what you want them to attack.
Then the elementalists can cry about how they didn’t receive immunity to chill as a brand new adapt minor trait( I don’t play one so I had to wing it)
Then the guardians can cry about the 3 lines of tool tip fixes and being in a good place.
Then the thieves can cry about the incoming nerfs to S/D without any real “give back”. Engineers leering at you through their goggles and pointing you out to everyone. And if engies are absent then you are gonna get your legs humped by a drakehound or a couple of hyenas.
Oh yeah I almost forgot … and last but certainly not least
Then the warriors can cry about the fact that they got 25 new buffs but they still cant maintain +100% run speed while invulnerable and throwing out multiple conditions with every 10k autoattack crit. The one nerf will be -10% heal on the third stage of Healing Surge because of its over use and OPness.
I don’t know that anyone was really crying. I just felt inspired to vomit this tripe onto the profession balance page.

As we approach that 1000 comment benchmark without a dev response in the skyhammer thread I figured I would add to the total. I wanted to maybe try putting in all the ideas I have or have heard and ask specifically what any of the devs think of them.
Why is this map not good for team q but fine for solo q?
Why is there zero feedback for so many of our suggestions such as;
Removal of map altogether
Removal of map from solo q
Removal of all glass panels
Removal of glass panels at A and C capture points.
Removal of glass panels at hammer
Make hammer dodgeable
Lower hammer damage
Make hammer blast radius smaller
Or any combination.
Maybe someone will see this before it is merged.

The “best” team isn’t playing the worst team. Only a few teams are ranked. The others are just randomly assigned numbers. You just got a tough match-up. Unlucky, but fair.
Read this after I posted. If this is the case and only a few teams are ranked while the rest are given random numbers then my above post is kitten.
I always hated this type of matching though I do recognize it as the norm. I teach martial arts and when I hold tournaments for my kids I rank them and match them in this manner. (Assuming I had 32)

There isn’t enough necromantic stuff going on with this class. It should just be called the Summoner or Demon Monger right now. There needs to be more manipulation of the dead and dying.

Stealth pulled by engies, thieves and mesmers. So unless you troll spec
Magnet has a Tell, easy to dodge.
Mesmers pull lasts for 5 seconds but can only be used on the last 4 has a low range and can be out positioned.Thief has no tell and it can be done while stealthed+daze to prevent skill use during the pull, there is no way to counter this except with a very quick stability/invuln
Pro Tips when defending a or c; Stand off point. Preferably where you can see them coming, Have a ranged weapon or nest defense.
Master race for defending a/c is Engineer.
Master race for defending b is Guardian
Master race for The Hammer is MesmerWhy is it considered troll spec to have a build specifically for this map?
You SHOULD be forced to play different builds or to switch your build for each map.
“Cap” was the term I used.
Defending is easier yes, you don’t have to stand on the point and that is a huge difference. Capping one of those with a triple kit engy….if you don’t get pulled off you are gonna get condi bombed and pushed around until magnet is back up and then you have to dodge again. Maybe its easy for you but I aint pro and sometimes they get me.
And speaking of dodging….dodging the godsmack would also be something of an improvement. Come on….you can dodge every other player initiated siege type weapon in PvP why not this? And the radius is so big that if you don’t immediately make a run for it, its gonna get you.
Switching for maps I understand as I like to play bunker guard mostly. So I understand I need to switch from AH to Virtues depending on the map and the team comp..but I switch because of my team and how I fit into the team. Its about making for better fights.
Skyhammer is about building NOT to fight. Building for troll like 1 hit kills.
Team don’t matter.
Skill don’t matter.
Which is the whole reason why it shouldn’t be in the rated soloQ.

For those of you that say “Just solo queue up in TeamQ because solo ladder is poop anyway and not to be taken seriously” Well this is one of the reasons why it is poop. This is the first and easiest step that can toward giving this ladder any legitimacy.
Put simply I would love to mess around on this map perfecting troll specs and having fun playing hide & go fall damage in hotjoin. Not in rated play on a ladder I am trying to climb. Climbing it by getting better at 5 man TEAM PvP. And even though its called SoloQ, you are still on, and have to work as a team.

Unless you have permanent stability you cannot “position” yourself to cap A or C without being stealth pulled by engies, thieves and mesmers. So unless you troll spec you are at B the whole time and you are a liability to your team. Not to mention that if you don’t have hammer holding B is very difficult.
You cant even go help get hammer…its all push pull fall no matter where you position unless you go just in the doorway and tele in and out…which is a huge waste of time.*

Specifically because of skyhammer but also rampant 4v5, horrible team compositions, bi-yearly “balance” patches, conquest only pvp, a ladder system where a guy that was 3 and 8 was like #3 on the board somehow ahead of 20,000 odd other people etc etc…but mostly skyhammmer this s my official goodbye to guild wars 2.

I am really trying to play rated games seriously regardless of everyone saying how the ladder is useless and it doesn’t matter. Well its the only way I have to gage my progress so it matters to me. I know it has flaws but for the most part you know the difference between #3 #600 and 91%.
Skyhammmer is the only map you have to build your toon for. I understand switching builds to better accommodate your team..or better oppose your enemy but for the map now too…. And then you have some people who are all " OH OH SPACIAL PLACEMENT AND KNOWING WHERE TO STAND AND "oh * kitten off…* This aint frogger motherkitteners. This aint no jumping puzzle. I want to fight players. I want to support teammates. I DONT want to get stealth pulled anytime I try to cap A or C or go near the hammer. I DONT want to NOT be able tododge the godkitten hammer either…why is that?? You can dodge all the other player controlled siege type weapons….
Could I make a skyham character to just do this map..probably and it would be just as cheeseball as every other thief/Mesmer/engineer out there. But ITS NOT PVP its PV kitten M and its bullkitten
