I think buffing lord is a great idea. I think he should be too strong for anyone to just sneak in and 1v1 in 30 seconds. I have seen this done many times mostly by rangers thieves and eles. I would also like it of the defenders didn’t spawn right on top of boss. Maybe in a tunnel that exits outside the gates? I hate when my buddies and I are on boss and half the team respawns right over our heads.

But to me getting downed from 1200-1500 range from 3 different angles is the mst frustrating thing of all. Even if its just 2 its awful. Its one thing to have a few engineers whom I can at least get to or if I choose; away from. But there is no escape from 3 1500 range rangers..especially when one or more have entangle. I was at temple so I’ll use it as example. They had a warrior mid so I go mid to engage and bam they had one ranger on the first ledge one up high and another came down bottom; toast.
I go temple empty. One ranger comes in front door one up top. Friendly thief comes to help they FF me down and he just ran away.
I try to go far I get jumped by 2 rangers from max range on either side in a pincer as they move in on me. Dead in 10 secs. I was playing shout warrior and I usually don’t die more than once a match.
tl:dr Yes 3 or more of the same can be irritating but I guess its the whole dying from attacks so far away that I can’t reach to retaliate is upsetting. And when there is more than one source that frustration multiplies. Nothing in this game causes more rage than to be made to feel helpless and that losing/death is inevitable
I am not one of those “Rangers longbow too stronk plx nrf pls” folks but let me tell you; I just had a game against 3 longbow rangers on temple map and it was the least fun I have had in GW2 in a long time. It was non stop PBS RF Barrage and Entangles from all ranges all over the map. If I wasn’t getting knocked on my kitten and rapid fired I was getting entangled and rapid fired and barraged at the same time.
I know I know L2P, L2Dodge, L2Block, L2Invuln etc etc. And I want to stress that again I am not claiming that LB zerker rangers are OP. I am saying that multiple rangers with their 1500 range short cooldown burst/CC make some games a nightmare.
If new game modes are introduced I think that some parts of this build may need a shave though.

I included traits in my list, there. The fact remains that it would be a signet passive that requires further investment in the build to have any effect at all.
Also, signet passives are disabled in death shroud. Just an FYI.

No one else does? A passive that Leeches(vampiric) from enemies into our life force pool while converting life force into health per second. Like I said someone else can crunch the numbers but as a concept I think it has risk and reward and it fits thematically. And since the passive will be cancelled in death shroud there is no worry about some weird interactions.
I am a little too high to think up an active. Like I said in my original post I would have it like warrior healing signet so the active would be almost moot…. Maybe something gimmicky.. like

Please tell me why you cant make the “I am ready” button mandatory to start a Rated pvp match. If someone doesn’t click it they are booted and another player is brought in with one minute to get ready and everyone has to click again. BAM fixed.

The guardian will ALWAYS win if an equally skilled warrior fights him. My guildies and I pretty much only roam and duel so we’ve seen everything. I know of guardian builds that can win 100% of warrior duels using pretty much only scepter. It’s pretty sad.

Been runnin this with some success and a lot of fun. I blast myself up to 20+ and stay up there with juggernaut. I am at 25 stacks for a good portion of the fight. I am a bit squishy but.. Hey that’s life.
I know some people are like eeew you took Experimental Turrets over Grenadier… and sometimes I do switch it out and switch flame turret for elixir S but anyway that’s not this build. This build is about EASY might stacks and decent direct damage on top of high condi damage.
Probably won’t perform at high levels but like I said it is fun to run around with 25 might stacks.

Needs a change. I was thinking of a concept like
Passive- Converts 400 life force to health per second(unless health bar is full) while stealing 400 health every 5 seconds from enemies(max 5 enemies) and converting it to life force.
Active- I didn’t get that far. I was thinking this would be like Warrior healing signet snf active would be moot.
My numbers are probably way off and either OP or UP but as a concept for an attrition based profession I thought this was a little bit of alrightness.
Makes me want not want to play at all. I mess around for hours playing around with builds and stuff trying to find fun and effective build configurations I can use and it means kitten when all I get is this kittening gay map.

I had a match that started 4v5 today, we won but it’s still annoying.
We’re working on a solution that is both fair and, hopefully, doesn’t waste people’s time. Not ready to talk about the details yet, but I will say we have definitely incorporated a lot of the community’s feedback. Unfortunately, it won’t be in this feature build because it’s part of a major refactoring of our back-end systems.

For a RATED game to start with a 4v5 is an embarrassment. I say it over and over again but I get no response so I will continue to repeat myself until I do; The infrastructure is in place. The “I am ready” button is already there to press and as of right now it serves no purpose whatsoever… (well.. Maybe one purpose… we know who the nubs are before the match starts because they are the only ones using it.)
Dude, play whatever you want, thats what skills/traits are made for. But we all know turret engi, so don´t tell us about high skill ceiling. Of course a good player does better on turret engi than a bad one, but thats primarily because of better dodges/rotations(we heared youre able to move!^^).
Where does the “high skill ceiling” come from? By planting your turrets with gaps between? By managing your cc´s for most uptime? By picking up your turrets before they get crushed from distance to “micromanage” your cd´s? Thats all a kitten compared to any other non AI build! Low skill floor and low skill ceiling, thats what it is. I mean, you dont even have a weapon swap, this alone lowers the skill floor into the dumbest. There hardly are any discissions you have to take while playing, neither in fight or OOC. Its simply brainless…
But turret engi also brings huge disadvantages with non existing mobility and team fight capability, so im personally hardly ok with turret engi. I just hate to get matched vs. 2 of them.
But anyway, i agree that something should be done with them, because its just no fun to 1on1 against and its simply way too effective in 1on1 for the very low skill floor.BTW: While writing this post, i just got a genius idea where anet could patch turrets to :
Lower their life hardly and buff the capability of repairing your turrets with toolkit, i.e. a better repair aa, a “turret repairfield” with box of nails, a short time immunity on active skills to resist aoe and something like that. Thats how turrets could be a blast to play, where you constantly need to micromanage your turrets to keep them alive. Of course cd´s/dmg would need to be adjusted till its balanced, so dont tell me this would be op and stuff, its just a random idea how turrets could work in my opinion. Good one?

First of all I said “I am constantly moving” one time in my original post, which was pretty long and full of other probably laughable kitten and you zero in on it like that is all I talked about. Not to mention that it is in direct response to critics who say that ALL turret engineers do the same thing; spam turrets and sit around AAing .
Secondly, I never said that turrets have a high skill ceiling… Of course they don’t compared to other much more intricate builds out there with 3 kits and 4 attunements and such. I said “…the skill ceiling is higher than what most people give credit for..” And considering they are given no credit at all this isn’t that big of a statement.

“Moving” while the turrets blast your enemies away isnt skill and its absolutely irrelevant to your enemie what you are doing. Cause in a turret build, you as the engineer are totally a waste of pixels.
Also the turrets are so tanky, a mesmer needs 2 shatters with a full focus on them lol, wtf.I played turret engi on myself, just to find out why brainless people are so strong with it, and i wrecked 9/10 enemies coming to my point. But did i feel well? No. I hated myself for playing such a cruel lameduck-build.
So if its fun to you playing it, nobody can hold u, but never feel like you were better than an enemie and thank your turrets.

I don’t do that. I don’t do much auto attacking at all matter of fact.. Trust me guys I WISH I could do more. Some of you may remember my thread months and months ago pushing for NON-KIT engineers to be able to utilize their second weapon set. I would LOVE to be able to switch between weapons and be a little less “brain dead” but again, did you read my post ATSE. I do a lot more than 111111. I have even been thinking about going a little more offensive and dropping thumper turret for flamethrower and dropping rifle barrel turrets and accelerant packed turrets to get Juggernaut. Then I can mightstack to 25 while I am between fights and be able to utilize on swap sigils and another weapon set.
I play primarily soloQ and I play all classes and mess around with all meta and off the wall builds. I like to have fun and try new things. Sometimes I do well. Sometimes not so much as my current leaderboard ranking will show. I cannot play Ele, or Thief worth a kitten .
My first love is the engineer. My current build is a flamethrowing mightstacking nades throwing condition/power hybrid build that I have a blast with. But most of my success with my engineer has come from playing turret builds. I know there is so much stigma that comes with playing these types of build. I have received hate mail, PMs, trash talk in game. All because I play something that I find fun. Yes I know there are players out there that set up their turrets and pew pew with auto attack and are a pain in the kitten but….
This is not me.
I am constantly moving. I am always managing my cooldowns on my actives and on my toolbelt.
I am a nightmare for any single attacker that comes to the point I have nested on. It usually takes 2 to uproot me and if crate is off cd I will probably kill them both or force them off MY point.
I do have some obvious and serious limitations. I am the most immobile build in the game.(That I am aware of) I am dependent on my turrets for much of my damage though I am still a CC beast even if you break them.
I try to make up for my imitation by causing as much disruption to the enemy as possible. Most times I do this by ending up on the far node and nesting up. Usually I cap home first and kill whomever comes then I go far but eventually very early in the game I end up on the far node. Once I have nested up it takes 2 or 3 to kill or uproot me and that means that mid is going my color and a lot of times this means a 3 cap.
The fun part is when the enemy respawns one at a time and comes to die at their home while we hold sides and have mid decapped for half the match. I know this doesn’t work in high or even mid level team queue but in soloqueue I do well with this setup.
I am no conquest expert obviously. My playstyle might only be working because its stupid and no one expects it haha. But so far so good. My engi has over 70% soloQ win ratio when playing turrets.
tl;dr Not all turret engies are brain dead “Set up turrets on home point, go afk” or “Set up turrets on(whatever point) and auto attack afk” When cooldowns are managed well and the class/build is played to its fullest potential the turret engi is a tough cookie. In solo queue.

All ten players MUST click it or the match does not start. The players who did not click are kicked out of map and next players in queue are brought in and given 30 seconds or 1 min or whatever to get ready and all have to click the I am ready button again. When all have clicked it YAY!!! We didn’t start the match 4v5!!!
I know this doesn’t address kitten faces who troll games, emergency leavers, bad internet mid game etc BUT that is another issue for another day. That may not even be fixable BUT THIS kittenING starting 4v5 CAN so kittenING FIX IT ALREADY with the infrastructure you ALREADY HAVE IN PLACE!

if you declined the queue, you get dropped from the queue while other players are still in queue…. in some games there is also time punishment if you queued for too many matches in short time and decline them

I take back all my posts putting Dev’s on blast for not responding! Obviously they responded before I even started playing this game..They are just still working on the changes. So I figure a 15% radius reduction on hammer blast and the glass panels overlooking A and C removed. Changes to be implemented in april 2017! Another note Guild Wars 3 announced to come out May 2017! Current LB rating isn’t, but I’ve found peak LB rating to be quite accurate.
I always wondered how you look up stats like that. I mean..I can look up current leaderboard ranks of course. But Peak rating and such. How would I check that for myself and others?
This whole godkitten spvp is about bleed and burn.
Everytime I die, its like 50k DMG bleeding, 30k dmg burning and such.
The third is like 1k hit from a skill.You cannot cleanse conditions because they applied too quickly.

I don’t want to drop Juggernaut because I might as well not bother with flamethrower as the whole point of it is to get me max mightstacks.
Experimental Turrets..I can drop this but that constant might regen really helps me keep the stacks high. And again if I don’t take the trait I might as well not take the turret…and I like the turret. The added fire damage is nice and the smoke field helps me in a lot of ways both defensively via blinds and blasting for stealth, and in stomping. I guess I could do something like this

Its for Spvp. And yes I DO feel the lack of swiftness I am missing from speedy kits. This can be a point defender. I try to make up for lack of stun breaks with Protection Injection which is such a great trait. I don’t have blocks but I do have a decent blind uptime. The idea is too keep the enemy at range as much as possible via overcharged shot/air blast then net shot followed by my nades volley.
The way I was having success with this build was to go mid and stay on the fringe near LOS spots (so the ranger meta didn’t eat my lunch) in FT while blasting and stacking my might up. As soon as I hit 20-25 stacks I switch to nades and unloaded. After the mid fight was won I would head home and help our bunker if he was in trouble or do whatever else needed doing.
I can play this as a home defender too but I would probably switch out to this build so I could be really hard to kill.

I don’t mind having multiples on teams. What I think is ridiculous is when there is 2, 3 or 4 of the same profession on my team and none of them on my opponents team. That’s what I believe makes 0 sense. Why wasn’t this sorted out when the players were pulled?
I start the match with 3 thieves my engi and a guardian while my opponents start with 3 warriors a ranger and a Mesmer. I see match-ups like this ALL the time.. How hard is it for the matchmaking mechanism to look at this when picking what team each player is going to be on?? So it would be more like; 2 thieves one warrior one guardian and my engi VS 2 warriors one thief one ranger and one Mesmer.. Is it that difficult??
Oh and MAKE USE OF THE KITTENING “I AM READY” KITTENING BUTTON SO I CAN STOP HAVING KITTENING 33% OF MY KITTENING MATCHES START AS KITTENING 4v5s

I know the first thing your gonna see is the lack of balthazer runes.. But with strength runes I am able to keep my might stacks from juggernaut, Flame turret and Sigiles for like forever. With my mightstacks at 20-25 nearly permanently my burns are ticking at 700-900 and my bleeds are all over the place… 400 here 700 there 16oo here 1100 there. And My physical damage isn’t too shabby either from flame jet, nades and Rifle.
Please try this booger before you just pooh pooh it. It was fun and I did pretty well with it.

I don’t think we are playing the same game if you compare necro’s 1sec casting life blast ( or staff 1 lololol ) to a LB ranger .And all the others examples are … wrong
Give me one good reason why an LB Ranger isn’t basically the same gameplay as a Rifle Warrior.

I have played a lot of rifle warrior and the difference is very pronounced. I feel kitten on Rifle warrior. I feel like I am always waiting for volley to be off cooldown or an opportunity to sneak around and killshot someone already engaged. It feels clunky.
On ranger I do not feel like this. My auto attacks feel meaningful. If I am in danger I can LB 3 and disengage or F2 wolf fear or PBS muddy terrain barrage rapid fire.. I just feel way more dynamic. Maybe its just me

With this set up you have burst. You do not have some of the following:
Sustain
Disengage
Condi clear
Invuln
Well.. This isn’t completely true. I have 2 more utilities not even mentioned.. I use signet of stone for the invuln during barrage and the other one I messed around with. Sometimes lightning reflex, sometimes Protect me, and sometimes muddy terrain for defense via my enemy being dead before he can get to me.
I played like a thief. I wasn’t in fights to win with attrition or sustain. I was looking to potshot, snipe, sneak and create uneven fights. I wanted to create chaos with pets barrages knockdowns and rapid fire and be halfway across them map when the enemy realized what happened. I had a lot of success with these tactics and plan to continue using them until the inevitable nerf.
I loved every minute of it… I felt like a world beater..I actually feel like I cheated and have a little guilt going on..
And those of you defending rapid fire…as much as you love your rangers and want to keep this ability.. I have to say in it’s current form it’s very, very strong.
Dodge!! Evade!!! Invuln!! Reflect!! yadda yadda . I know these arguments are used and Yes people did do use these things sometimes to mitigate or even avoid the damage..but most times I just waited for the mid fight to get really heated and I picked out either my teams target or the first thief I see and—-
Rampage as One>Quickening Zephyr>Point Blank>Rapid fire and a few AAs and that was usually pretty close to game over. I used Air and Impact sigils Pack or ogre runes and zerk ammy.
Sometimes if mid was really cluttered (clones turrets etc) and it was hard to see what was going on I even pulled off Ramp as One>Quickening Zeph>Rapidfire>Muddy Terrain>Barrage>Point Blank Shot>Rapid-Fire with a few AAs in there.
My conclusions:
In the fog of battle you will not stop me from smoking you with rapidfire. Maybe once or twice if I get sloppy..but most times you wont know I’m coming till PBS knocks your kitten in the dirt..then my impact sigils make that rapidfire do an extra 20%.
This is just the opinion of an average joe schmo. I could be wrong and have just faced crappy competition. Just gotten lucky.. Or hey maybe this class and I are just a good fit.. But I kitten you not, the after patch ranger is the most faceroll profession I have played.
I once had an ok soloQ rank for a week or so. I was in the 300s and happy about it as I am not a very good mechanical player due to what Lyme Disease has done to my reaction time and my hands always hurting and shaking. Anyway my rating now is god awful. I went from a 50%+ win-rate to around 46-47% and this isn’t because I all of the sudden became a bad player overnight. Its because I decided I want champion titles on all 8 professions. I have 3 now. Engi, Guardian and warrior and I am halfway on necro and Mesmer. I SUCK at some professions…
Anyway I only put this anecdote here because I am sure other players also do this

It is unbelievable that there are so many posts and no responses about this. Its like there is a firewall that blocks devs from any post that contains the terms 4v5 or skyhammer. WHY WHY WHY isn’t the already existing “I am ready button” used? Its on my screen for no reason whatsoever when it can be used to solve this problem so easily.
If all 10 don’t hit it…the match doesn’t start… whomever doesn’t hit it is kicked and another is brought in and a 30 second clock starts and everyone has to click again. Once everyone has clicked awayyyy we go. Easy???
This doesn’t solve the problem of leavers but that’s another issue. The REAL issue I have is matches STARTING with 4v5 because my 5th teammates machine went down because his dog ran behind the desk and unplugged everything. Or his power went out. Or he forgot his frozen pizza was in the oven and he is just realizing his kitchen is on fire. Or gf came over unexpectedly and took all her clothes off and said “Me or the game” All of these things happened sometime in the 1-7 minutes after he queued up and the match started.
Anyway…all joking asaide. What is the purpose of the dam button? WHAT PURPPOSE other than to make me use caps and have a vein pop out in my forhead

Well basically nobody’s running main-hand sword in PvP – condi builds use mace. But you got a point there, immob on autoattack would be imba
I use sword mh for my shout condi warrior… I have never seen anyone using mace mainhand…for any build. But especially condi. Rabid ammy+Krait Rune+Earth sigil+Flurry=Bleeding out your bunghole. If I am against a lot of melee classes I’ll throw on a geomancy sigil on my swords too. There are some nasty combos I pull off sometimes with s/s longbow

And yes I know my Ladder rating is kittenty but I was in the 300-700 range before I started going for all my champion titles. Mesmer hurt me bad. Ele Ranger and Thief are going to ruin me completely lol

To OP: the second you mentioned the profession is viable in all game modes you lost credibility. You make it seem like every single Necromancer player is just somehow missing this magical little thing only you are aware of, which frankly comes off as arrogant at best.
You strike me as one of those that used necro for a few months, didn’t understand it then switched to warrior or some other “meta class”. In PvP like i already mentioned, when statted properly the class works pretty well and i don’t even need to be a minion master. I think my build is a little strange though and can’t be used in WvW but it works out pretty well.
In dungeons, this is where you see all manner of necro atrocities. You cannot be selfish and try to compete for damage this is actually how necros end up getting killed. We have only one Aoe damage skill, and conditions don’t kill as fast as a warriors Aoe damage skill, so why would you be wearing anything but full dire and not take weapons and utilities that help keep the party alive like well of blood, well of darkness, transfusion and spec armour for yourself . As for the elite, i find that the few necros i see tend to take lich, I’ve even seen flesh golems, forgetting that a big part of dungeons is mob skipping. This is why i always use snow leopard when dungeoning.
WvW can be a little difficult especially when roaming. It is really more of skill level and not putting yourself smack in the middle of 5 people and pray DS can bail you out.
PvE is PvE, every class can handle that fine, if you can’t then you will have problems in every other mode.
There are survivability issues, most other classes can move out of a fight when they need to but once we get into a fight we have to stick with it or try to run with spec walk, which doesn’t always work out. Flesh Wurm doesn’t count, because it requires you place it somewhere else before using it and besides, we all know how well minions work out in WvW.
So I’m saying, we already have an independent life bar that can be replenished fairly quickly in combat, all we need is a proper escape, foot in the grave as a minor trait and at least one good weapon based aoe damage skill. If these were part of the new changes, people will change their tune about the class.

Necros are bottom of the barrel in pve. Middle lower tier in pvp and middle tier in wvw imo. But definitely considered awful for dungeons because of lack of any group synergy
