Mesmer is fun at high levels but is boring at low levels. Engineer can be fun, but it always ends up becoming a sort of concert pianist. Thief IS squishy, but in PvE can be one of the tankiest classes (without getting any defense), of course this style of play is really… really… really… slow, and I mean slow. You get Dagger/Pistol (or Sword/Pistol) and use 5 so that the field is always on the ground. This will mitigate all damage from mobs that aren’t bosses. If they are bosses, use Dagger/Pistol to apply Poison and (with 15 trait points in the first line) Weakness.
I main a Mesmer, and I can tell you that the fun never stops, but the early levels ARE a chore.
It’s not particularly hard, it’s just a hassle and a waste of time. I’m sure if someone had spare time they could easily write a script to look through the code and fix it, but it’s still a waste of time.
Tomorrow is too late. It’s gone in 3 hours and 27 minutes as of this post.
July 9th for both questions.
Yeah pretty much. This build was my take on a serious phant build with the new changes, but it’s disgusting how little diversity you’re going to have as a Mesmer with the new patch.
Time to dust off the shatter build and start practicing again…
Yeah, the problem with mobs/bosses getting more health is that a fight like the Grawl Fire Shaman turns into a nightmare when the elementals start becoming as strong as champions with the health pools of veterans, while you’re fighting a buffed boss that needs a shield taken down, which will enable him to start hitting you…
Wow, so the foods that have the +10 experience tooltip and not the 10% experience tooltip actually do the same thing?
It’s just a bug, then?
It’s not a bug, it’s just an error on the people who wrote the descriptions. Honestly, them fixing that is very low on my list of fixes because the time spent fixing all of those could be spent doing much, much better things.
The day that all the plants of tyria screamed at once is the day that my dream comes to fruition…
Compounding Power 3% more damage for each of your active illusions
This doesn’t apply to your phantasms damage, only your self and shatter damage. Just like the 6 set effect from ogre runes doesn’t either. Seriously, how are people still not aware of this bug?
Regardless, it’d be stupid to spec ANYTHING other than a shatter spec for tournaments now, all these other builds will only be good for theory crafting/PVE/mediocre sPVP vs baddies
And what other trait is useful for adept? You theoretically have 3 phantasms out at all times, so then your BF damage is increased. Oh no, our BF does more damage? That’s not good!
Certain treasure chests respawn every 24 hours, yes.
The reason why you want it is the reason why it won’t be implemented.
And yes, I know why you want it.
Uhmm.. the daily has a 24 hour clock that resets at 5PM PST.
So… your suggestion is already implemented.
Riverside is a strictly german speaking server.
This means they speak German.
If you change the third color of your emblem to a lighter color, so will the background.
They will be gone onJuly 9th.
Well Colin Johanson stated very recently that most limited items will stay limited to keep their uniqueness. Example: Molten Jetpack will not become available later because it will punish the players who worked for it during it’s limited availability. Something like The Crossing or Arachnophobia, however, should end up becoming more popular due to the mats re-appearing.
All food give +10% experience (unless it says +15% experience or +5% karma).
All the experience is from experience from kills. The karma is all karma sources.
After. It’s currently at it’s low and the price will slowly go up over the course of the year. I suggest holding it for a few months before considering selling it.
The pug scene isn’t that bad. It’s just there ARE potential groups where it can happen. And minor things will push it over the edge. Look at Fractals. If you know the fights, you can go to nearly any level without any Agony Resist. Other than Jade Maw insta-Agony’ing you, all Agony can be dodged/avoided, which means that Agony Resist isn’t required, but is useful.
I personally got to level 24 before getting any AR. I now have 20 AR and do level 32 on a monthly basis. I could get to 35, but I don’t care enough to get there.
If people were able to spectate, getting a Fractal group would be VERY unforgiving.
Love being an Asura, because you actually fit on these things.
I would say report for verbal abuse, because if they did kick you, they most likely also talked trash about you. If not, then I dunno.
Also, stay away from groups where all 4 members are in the same guild.
Ranger is one of the best WvW professions.
I think what was meant is : Anet’s vision for this game has changed to TEMPORARY holiday shinies and cash shop gamble boxes as “content”.
They always had holiday shinies. The cash shop gamble boxes only work because there are the minority who blow thousands of real dollars to get the tickets.
Awwh yeah, with these new trait changes, all sorts of NEW builds will come out. I wonder what FANTASTICALLY AMAZINGLY DIVERSE builds we can make as Phantasm.
Oh, there’s really only one now? I guess that’s cool…
New Phantasm Build:
0/15/0/25/25 with 5 points leftover!
What does this all mean?!
Well, you’re most likely going to grab…
Dueling:
Critical Infusion Gain 5 seconds of vigor on delivering a critical hit. This effect can only trigger once every 5 seconds
Sharper Images Illusions inflict bleeding on critical hits
Blade Training +50 precision while wielding a one-handed sword or a spear. Reduces the recharge of sword and spear skills by 20%.
Inspiration:
Vengeful Images Grants retaliation to Phantasms
Phantasmal Healing Phantasms grant regeneration to nearby allies
Phantasmal Strength Phantasms do 15% more damage
Compounding Celerity Move faster for each active illusion
Persisting Images Phantasms have 20% more health
Illusions:
Illusionists Celerity Illusion-summoning skills recharge 20% faster
Illusionary Retribution All shatter skills inflict confusion
Shattered Strength Shattering illusions grants you 1 stack of might per illusion (10 seconds)
Compounding Power 3% more damage for each of your active illusions
Phantasmal Haste Phantasms recharge 20% faster
So many diversities!
Notes on the last 5 trait points:
Place them in Dueling for traited Pistol or Phantasmal Fury.
Place them in Inspiration for Mender’s Purity or traited Focus.
Note on Inspiration:
You can replace Persisting Images with Mender’s Purity or traited Focus.
GEAR:
Whatever DIVERSE gear you were using before, YOU CAN STILL USE!
WEAPONS:
Keep using those DIVERSE Phantasm build weapons. (Cough Sword/X Cough)
I personally suggest using Sword/Sword + Staff/Greatsword/Scepter/Focus/Pistol/Torch!
UTILITIES:
Diversity has no place here. Run iDefender, Signet of Illusions and the third will be based on what you’re fighting/going up against! (Feedback, Arcane Thievery, Blink!)
Note: In WvW, iDefender can be replaced with Decoy.
Please keep in mind that this opening post, while satirical, is also a serious, viable build with the new update in mind.
Thank you, and have a nice day.
Well, the thing is, I think they should have access to Keg Brawl.
You are probably in a less populated world and are not playing in Queensdale. If you want, I can come by and play with you hehe that’s dirty after I finish this dungeon run.
In PvE, as long as you don’t rely on Confusion for your main damage source, you’re fine. The only problem is that your main conditions are Bleeding and Confusion.
Confusion rarely ticks in PvE since most mobs will hit very slowly (there are exceptions). Almost every class has methods of applying Bleeding, which means that if you apply 25 stacks of INSANE condition damage bleeding, and a Warrior in full zerk gear walks by and presses 1 with a sword, you just lost a lot of dps (Warrior with sword auto applys bleeding).
It has the potential to do good damage, but it’s slow to start and can be hurt by other players.
It includes a permanent jumping puzzle.
Well, it’s a gamble. If each exotic is worth 1g each, that’s 4g you’re tossing in which can give you anywhere from 1-800g back.
EDIT: And no, that doesn’t mean the average return is 400g.
The problem with a system like this is that the game already borders on elitismismistsism. <— Yes, that.
It wouldn’t hurt friendly guild groups, but it would hurt pug groups, and coming from a solo player, that means that it’s going to make my job much, much harder. (Not that I don’t have the gear and whatnot, but people looking at the other people in the party then saying “NOPE, YOU SUCK GTFO” makes it a lot harder to fill parties.)
If you feel like it was an unjust action, then report whomever you remember that was in the party.
Also, the way their entire game engine is made, they would need to either re-build the game engine (hosted on separate servers) or re-build the current game engine to accommodate new servers like that. Most of the stuff is coded in a way that something of this magnitude would be impossible without re-writing most of the code.
@Goddess, I find that unfair as the only permanent Activity is in Hoelbrak. Perhaps if they are in Lion’s Arch, they’re limited to the Gate Hub Plaza…?
I have to agree since it does come in a box…
I think Aetherblades is going to be a party dungeon (although it may scale with players) because it has a chance at giving a Monocle hat skin upon beating the final boss.
Just like with ALL other limited events, it’s best not to wait until the last day to complete them. I’ve seen SO many people complain about not getting this or that because they waited too long. Remember when the last few hours of Crab Toss were bugged and a small minority of players had waited until the last few moments to get the achievements? Don’t be that minority.
Welp, guess it’s time to try that x-x-x-x-25 phant build with phantasmal haste… >.>
Another thing fadeaway, with this change there is basicly no shatter build that can be considered vaible without 25 point in illusion, and if you 25 p in illusion its a big misstake to not go 30 for ip alternative mass interupt builds and get the mass daze.
So overall this change narrov the viable mesmer builds to 0-0-0-0-25 (30) and for al dmg dealing builds we look at 0-10-0-0-25. Sure there will be some experemental 10-0-30-0-0-30 interupt mass daze builds and some healing speed 0-0-0 30-30 but it will be hard to argue for any build without atleast 25 in illusions. This due to the fact it give a 20% ability drop for al our builds most important abilitys and utilitys.
Personaly as a shatter mesmer from the start I only se posseblitys in the changes as I already run mandatory 30 in illsuions, BUT the beuty of the mesmer class is the flexibility to run different builds, not glad to se that get worse.
Osicat
I was thinking more along the lines of an 0-20-20-0-30 build with Bountiful Interruptions. If that doesn’t have an internal cooldown, that means with one chaos storm (doesn’t need to be traited), you’ll most likely hit 25 stacks of might, especially if there are 5 targets inside. From there, you can start bouncing them around with Signet of Inspiration. Regardless, it’s a simple strategy: you boom —> instant huge shatter burst potential.
BUT I feel like it’s going to get nerfed and then we’re going to end up weaker and with less build diversity than before.
Scepter/Pistol, Scepter/Sword, Scepter/Torch are all viable.
Scepter/Pistol provides good synergy with ConDmg builds.
Scepter/Sword provides good blocking potential.
Scepter/Torch provides good initiation and escapes potential.
Perhaps in addition to evaluating the amounts required, there should be additional Titles at lower tiers of the achievement. Instead of being the Ultimate Whatever you could be something a little less ultimate.
Basically what it was in GW1, where each tier of a title was actually a title, and each had it’s own name.
For example: Sunspear Rank
Rank — Title — Points Required
1 Sunspear Sergeant (1) 50
2 Sunspear Master Sergeant (2) 100
3 Second Spear (3) 175
4 First Spear (4) 300
5 Sunspear Captain (5) 500
6 Sunspear Commander (6) 1,000
7 Sunspear General (7) 2,500
8 Sunspear Castellan (8) 7,500
9 Spearmarshal (9) 15,000
10 Legendary Spearmarshal (10) 50,000
You could not display the title until you were rank 6, and after that it would show what rank you were on that character (it was character specific).
So, everyone and their mother has made a Zojja clone, but what about Kudu? Why no love for him?
Anyways, I know he has no gear, I made him a few weeks ago, and never leveled him up. He’s an Engineer in accordance to the lore (where he’s an Engineer), but his armor is T3 Cultural Light (with a flipped chestpiece) colored Red and Black, which means I can either be true to my class, or be closer to my looks.
Oh, Kudu, why you kitten me? Also, it’s impossible to get his branded look, at the moment. Yay…
And I'd like to say thatI worked on this by hand using what few pictures we have of Kudu on the interwebs.
Wait until you infuse it. If you apply the skin now, then infuse it later, it will revert to an “Infused Book of Secrets”, thereby destroying your Shattered Dragon Wings skin.
Is there a way around this? I would like to make my back piece ascended, but I don’t want to lose my tentacles.
Get another backpiece and infuse that.
I’m pretty sure people have Ultimate Dominator already (or are very close) – I’m about 1/2-way there (just hit 105k kills) and I know at least a couple of people who have at least double that.
That is definitely true and I’m not disputing Ultimate Dominator because it’s an achievement where you can get the most objectives (as opposed to the others) in a single day. I didn’t include it because I tend to run solo so I don’t know how many kills/hour people manage to get. 250,000 kills is nothing, though, considering you can get 1,000 kills per day (at a rate of 125 kills per hour for 8 hours), which, considering zerg sizes, means you tag everyone in a zerg, but still. That also means you’re only hitting a zerg once every hour.
Okay, well, last night I was laying in bed mulling things over, and it looks like a lot of you are talking about SM which I was thinking about. And, for capturing, I only looked at Supply Camps, which are easy, so I’ll include SM with a theoretical 1-5 flips per day (which is highly unrealistic, but so is being able to do these achievements for 8 hours a day with no interference).
Sorry I ninjad you :p
Yeah I prefer the top 3 camps because I have less trouble there. I don’t know why but those yaks that are closer to the servers home seems safer and the bottom section feels compacted and more likely to run into trouble.
I do understand, I actually feel safe when running the 3x yaks up top (using 1.5 camps). Because most of the enemy will be on the frontlines and not the back unless you flip. In fact, most of the time they won’t even notice. It’s just I hate looping around for the other 3 yaks. It feels like a pain, and I’m a Mesmer so it also feels really slow, even with Centaur runes. I mean, I could run through the top supply camp, and I have done it before, but then I feel rushed. Although I guess theoretically, I could just make circles around the top half of the map and hit everything in a fashion like that. The only risky part would be going through the top camp.
Sorry I’m ranting.
As for you ninja’ing, there was plenty of time for me to post a -reserved-, I just didn’t think I’d need it. Then I posted, and it went over the cap, but didn’t tell me, so I had to re-type it then you posted. No big deal.
That would work. Remember, I am a solo player, so my thoughts were more towards X/Focus + Staff for AoE interrupts. You’d probably want to roam in small groups and then just control as much as possible. You could even go solo, but the build would be terrible vs 1vX, it’s only really even fights that it’ll work out (my way, that is).
Whittle him down, heal when he heals. I don’t know your build, so I can’t tell you for certain.
I usually run Phantasm at this point since I AM a solo player, which means I drop 3 Swordsman and he has to run or die (and even if he runs he might still die).
Shatter you have to time your shatters after his control. Guardians tend to have the capacity of being large bunkers, but you will eventually overcome him, especially with the minute damage of Confusion helping tick if you time your shatters well.
Remember, heal when he heals (because it’s almost always going to be the block heal) and other than that, he should be a piece of cake.
Actually, we do because otherwise when you open your map it says 99% in big, giant, condescending letters. And yes, they get bigger. And yes, they become very, very condescending. Either that or my OCD kicks in and punches me.
LOL, I think that may just be you ;-)
You’ll understand when you get to 100%.
Guardian, Engineer, Mesmer and Elementalist are all able to be healer classes, not just support.
