Everyone has the same TP. There is no “TP on my server”.
Also, it’s cheaper to craft it than to buy it unless you don’t want to work for it. (Yes, this includes BUYING the materials used to craft it.)
it is designed in a way that accidental deletion cannot happen.
Except by accidents, such as forgetfulness. Of course, you can apply forgetfulness to so many other problems that it’s disgusting. “OOPS, I DROPPED THE WRONG ITEM BECAUSE I FORGOT TO EQUIP IT FIRST! OOPS, I SALVAGED THE WRONG ITEM BECAUSE I FORGOT THAT IT’S THE SKIN I WANT!” etc etc etc.
The entire system is fair. It warns you before you delete it, and if you did not check, it is your fault. This is players helping players, so I’m not going to bash you for forgetting, but keep in mind that you DID know the risks when deleting your character.
And also keep in mind that Arenanet owes you nothing for your mistake.
With that in mind, make a ticket and good luck.
supppposedly exotics have a higher chance, but how much? who knows. i want to say rares would be more cost-effective. and you can do higher volumes of tries at the mystic forge. what iw ould do though is if you happen to loot exotic greatswords, or you get them from yuor rare GS forges, keep ’em until you have enough.
though then, i would perhaps even check their prices on the TP. if you believe it to be more beneficial to sell them, do so.
maybe someone else who has more experience can offer some advice.
Rares have a 20% chance of upgrading to an Exotic when thrown in the Mystic Forge. Because of that, for every 16 Rares you get (not toss in, but get) you’re theoretically getting one Exotic.
Math:
4 Rares = 20% chance at 1 Exotic
4 Rares = 20% * 1 Exotic
4 Rares / 20% Chance = 1 Exotic
4r / 0.2c = 1e
20 Rares = 1 Exotic.
BUT, for every failure, you get 1 Rare back, so… in every 4 tries, you get a 5th one free, and it theoretically takes 5 tries to get one Exotic, so it only takes 16 Rares.
Back to the explanation…
Exotics do not have a higher chance of yielding a Precursor, nor do Rares. Every time you get an Exotic in the Mystic Forge, it gives you one of ANY Exotic within the level parameters. This is why you have a higher chance of getting a Precursor using only level 80 items (you’re not getting a chance of getting level 79- Exotics which CAN’T be Precursors).
So what this means is that every 4 Exotics you throw in, you can get ANY Exotic back (within the level parameters again) and every 4 Rares you throw in, you can get ANY Rare item OR (with a 20% chance) ANY Exotic item (again both of these are within the level parameters).
The word ANY is being overused in these examples, you won’t get certain, specific, drop-only items, such as Final Rest, and even craft-only items, such as Infinite Light. Additionally, there are other items that will not be given such as Cavalier stats on armor or weapons (although they do exist in drops from Fractal Chests).
Any questions?
If you’re starting the 1v2 fight, keep in mind that you can cast a skill with a weapon, and before it connects, weapon swap.
What this does is the skill gets cast (say, Chaos Storm or any Phantasm) and before ANY damage gets dealt, you swap weapons. Basically, your skill now does damage, you’re in combat, you’re using a weaponset with all skills off cooldown AND your weapon swap is off cooldown, meaning you can weapon swap whenever you want. It’s a useful strategy for starting a fight, but it requires pre-planning and running around in your secondary weapon set.
A blind won’t cause a Shatter to miss but a block, dodge roll, invulnerability or some other type of evade can cause no Shatter damage.
When clones get close, try dodge rolling into them 1-2 times to negate the Shatter damage.
Keep in mind, always roll into the clones when they’re being shattered, because they “reach” you faster and thus [almost] all shatter [hopefully] while you’re dodging.
Zizi, I understand where you are going with these microskritts, but I have to ask how you will ensure that the skritt will listen to your instructions, especially after being reduced in size (through such a brute-force method, too!)
Asura technology has advanced to the point where size manipulation is easy. You could grab a shrink-ray and miniaturize the skritt, but, again, getting the skritt to listen to you will be difficult.
I just don’t get it why they make step back. Looks like I will need buy second account ;/
Sometimes, to step forward, you need to step backward. In this case, by having our characters have more data, be more customized, be more unique, it makes them have more data.
The entire event ends on the 9th of July.
They’ve made hints about filling in the Great Collapse in Divinity’s Reach.
Whether or not it’ll be replaced by a Canthan quarter, we shall see.
The Great Collapse WAS the Canthan Quarter.

Not currently. If you wanted to keep the skin, you would have to have transmuted it onto a white item to make it account bound.
That item is now worthless as there is no way to get it out of the bank. There may be a fix for this in the future, but it won’t be in the near future.
So I would suggest holding this in the bank and seeing what they do if you have the spare space. You can buy another skin from the trading post for a few gold, it’s relatively cheap compared to the other skins.
The reason why Cantha (namely the Canthan District in Divinity’s Reach) was removed is because the Cantha culture is a mixture of Japanese, Chinese and Korean as a unified culture. HOWEVER, Asia doesn’t like to be classified as a unified culture, and so it is, in some cases, rude to the Asian cultures by merging them together.
The Canthan culture can be perceived as a representation of a unified Asia, of which there is lots and lots of debate and arguments. If they released the Canthan quarters, it would have created a large amount of unrest which they did not want to deal with.
It rotates your character 180 degrees. This doesn’t mean that it instantaneously flips you around. If you do something too fast, it’ll go offkilter, so once you get the timing down, have fun being mobile.

I have the Sclerite Backpiece: I know it has been asked before but since we’re at it: will it show on my clones/phantasms?
I know, who cares if they show on phantasms but: the more Ch’tulues the better!
Your backpack shows on clones, yes.
PUT IT… ON THE MAINHAND PISTOL…
When they fix it.
The trinkets should be available at the temple of balth for karma,
I didn’t think Cavalier Armor existed, but it must come out of fractal chests.it’s transmuted. you can’t buy the exotic stats of it on the TP, so the exotic variant doesn’t exist.
The exotic stats exist from Fractal chests as seen by the picture. Even though it’s transmuted, its still exotic in stats (look at the color of the name).
It’s really your call. My post was very biased in the wording. Eventually, I’m quite sure sentinels will be re-released (at least in the forms of real items entering the game), so you can wait and hope that it’s a pain to get, or just sell now.
I don’t know if the price is going to stay high, because I don’t know if people are going to stay… well… bookah-ish with their decisions in stats.
It is build into the ring by default since you can’t add gemstones due to the infusion slot =)
But you can’t see that in the shop?
I don’t know what you mean.
Regardless, they recently made it easier to read stats on Ascended items. I’m guessing that the image you provided is not an image of your own, but one you found online. They have tallied up all the stats and stacked them together.
If you see that ring in a shop now, it will say:
103 Power
68 Precision
8% Critical Damage
5 Agony ResistanceEmpty Offensive Infusion Slot
This is because…
71 + 32 = 103 Power
50 + 18 = 68 Precision
4 + 4 = 8% Critical Damage
5 = 5 Agony ResistanceInfusion slot will be empty, naturally.
I just bout the ring but it’s missing 5 agony resistance: http://i1.minus.com/jufTbwwXv8TjW.jpg
That is correct, you bought the non-infused version. You can infuse it with a recipe in the mystic forge (I believe 5 vials of condensed mists essence, 3 globs of coagulated mists essence, and 1 Shard of crystallized mists essence).
If you have no idea what they are or how to get them, they most likely won’t affect you, nor will the 5 agony resist, so don’t bother with it.
that doesnt make much sense to me, since when i tried to use cloak and dagger repeatedly like that to REMAIN stealthed on a dummy, i couldnt avoid the revealed affect. please explain how cloak and dagger bypasses revealed.
Don’t hit something while in stealth. If you want to remain in stealth, try to use it to the fullest of it’s duration. From there, you can use other stealth skills, such as Blinding Powder or Shadow’s Refuge
i didnt mean to put two energy in the same set. and which weapons do you think deserve a trait? i like signet of dom for both passive and the active stun though.
You don’t have two energy in the same set. You have hydromancy (chill on swap) and energy (endurance on swap). They don’t stack, so the mainhand will proc (hydromancy), your Sigil cooldown will go off, then offhand will not go off since it’s on cooldown.
Signet of Dom for the active is fine, but your build looks like it’ll only end up being useful for hotjoin, if that’s your sPvP thing.
Which weapons you should get a trait for depends on how you play. You’re not really a phantasm mesmer, so you don’t NEED the sword trait, but if you rely on the block nearly every time it’s up (so it’s rarely up), then keep it, otherwise drop it, since you’re not going to worry about the phantasm, too much.
Staff is fine if you utilize the staff as a defensive tool, in fact as a condmg build, staff trait is fine.
Scepter trait is also fine as condmg.
I would consider swapping to an offhand Pistol or Torch for the condition damage gained by either of them (with Pistol, you’ll need some Precision and the dueling 5 point trait (minor, 5 points in the line, not the duelingV trait).) and with Torch, you can plop down the Phantasm and (with the newfound 10 points off of the sword trait) drop it into Illusions to get Illusionary Haste, reduces recharge of phantasms, aka makes them shoot faster. You can get this trait for both the pistol or the torch, but if you do it with the pistol, you’ll need to drop 5 points elsewhere, which I’ll suggest from the inspiration line.
Speedy Kits which you can combo with Invigorating Speed
Good luck being speedy.
EDIT: Sorry this isn’t an item, but I think it suits your needs just fine, if not better.

You listed the pros and cons. The last thing is your choice. MF dungeon will reoccur sometime along the line (maybe differently), but Sentinel gear will somehow become available again, so… you can wait until you screw yourself over, or you can abuse the folks trying to stack tankiness with no regard to usefulness.
Don’t run Melandru runes if you’re going to run Mender’s Purity. You’re playing too defensively with that.
Don’t run Phantasmal Strength (25 in Inspiration) if you’re not going to focus on dealing damage through Phantasms (since you’re condmg).
Don’t trait into every weapon you’re running just because you can.
And don’t run 2 weapon swap sigils on the same weapon set. (They don’t stack… and so your offhand will never proc.)
There are a few more things wrong with this build such as running Signet of Dom for the condmg boost.
And lastly… Confusion is terrible in sPvP. See: This
Not until this issue is resolved. I tested trying to make it a few hours ago. I don’t think Arenanet is saying much on this, so just wait a little bit for the Colossus. You will be able to get it before the event is over.
Remember, this is day 2 on a month-long event.
Cloak and Dagger is what I think he was using.
The dragon wings seem to be wildly inconsistent with the way they’re placed. I’ve seen people say they’re perfectly fine on their characters, and other people say that the things are practically placed on their necks (or on Charr, down close to their tails). Either a lot of people need glasses, or the wings have some wonky issues.
I believe some people may be looking at the Holographic Shattered Dragon Wings, to say that they are wonky.
Earlier, when the patch was first out (before the hotfix build), the animation speed of both wings were ridiculously fast. This was fixed with the hotfix build and ceased to be a problem.
The current issue is with both wings, if your character is too small (and/or a few other variables), the wings (both) will clip through your head and/or itself. (Yes, the wings can clip through themselves.)
Also, with the Holographic Shattered Dragon Wings, they either copied the Shatterer wing animation to the dot, or didn’t test it well on ingame models because the animation is extremely derpy and not polished at all. The animation looks as if your character were on all fours and flapping, as opposed to standing straight up. Additionally, the wings clip with both your head and themselves through all preview tests I have done.
All recipes regarding the Holographic Risen Knight have been disabled, including the Mini Holographic Colossus regarding this. This is because the drop rate of the Holographic Risen Knight is (infinitely) higher than all other mini’s, and it would ruin the market if it continued it’s course with the current amount of Risen Knight’s in the market. The reason why this did not happen with the Reef Rider’s is because they are Exotic so you can’t toss them in the forge.
Let’s just have the Berserker use HB instead.
That would be interesting.
I think I’d rather have it stay as a mobile phantasm, or have a range in a line if it has to be stationary.
What I have in mind is it would shoot a large beam in a line at the target which will slow units hit by it. It could then hit multiple times, but the beam would stay in a line (see: GS1 WITHOUT following the target, but bigger).
It’s not a bug. It is intentionally blocked off. Even if one were to magiclly flow through the gate, one would be teleported back out of it.
I suspect that it is a location of one of the ‘suspects’ from the new achievements for the living story. So just wait for that part of the living story to open.
It’s one of the living stories characters’ mansions. You can find out who by reading the achievement titles.
Honestly, I spent 2 hours and finished the achievement. I was in a low level starter zone and I was running circles with 5 projectors. If I saw anyone on my minimap, I would wait while tagging everything. If I didn’t see anyone, I would kill it and move on.
Sigils of Speed were very helpful.
Also, since I am an Asura Mesmer, running Radiation Field + Blink + Portal Entre was very useful. It sounds like an awkward and terrible combination, but with 100% swiftness from Sigil of Speed, I was able to combo Blink to move ridiculously fast. Radiation Field was for tagging if there were multiple people (doesn’t do a lot of AoE damage, but tags so it won’t ks everything).
Portal Entre is good if you know a Holo is about to spawn and the next one in your path has already spawned (they have a randomizer on their spawn, so it happens) to drop it, go to the next Holo, then come back real quick so nobody can steal it from you.
With a speedy build like that, you can afford to be generous when you see people, but most people won’t follow you, so you can be greedy when nobody is around (note: this is in unpopulated low level areas. Finding the appropriate area for your server is hard and I will not disclose my area as it will become filled with people, not that I farm it anymore).
Mystic has the correct math formula for adding up the probability of proc occurrances.
It’s the NPC’s AROUND Evon Gnashblade. There are two on either side of him, known as “Special Weapons Merchants” or something like that. They also appear on your world/mini map as “Weapon Vendors”.
Yes. If you look at the npc where you redeem the tickets, he has every weapon redeemable by tickets. He has fused (molten alliance), sclerite (southsun), wintersday (wintersday) and jade (dragon bash).
I call people bookah all the time in Lion’s Arch chat. In fact, I made multiple people look up the definition (which they looked up wrong, silly bookahs…) and proceeded to berate them for their inability to understand the power of brains over size.
Or you know, they just can make them instanced for every player.
Do not blame the players for their playstyle (as annoying as it is for you), blame the game mechanics. The game mechanics are what they are, but there’s no reason to screw over other players when it takes a few seconds longer not to.
Oh really? Well today I was good enough to wait for 2 other palyers in a low level map (I was first tot he holoprojector). When we activated the holoprojector, the warrior rushed through the mobs and killed them instantly.
Again, why should I follow your miniguide?
Drop a tagskill beforehand.
What I do is if I see someone else, I’ll drop Radiation Field below where they spawn. This does enough damage to tag all the mobs but will not kill any mob by itself (even for the full duration). This ensures that other players get an opportunity to tag mobs at their own pace, especially at low levels (since it applies poison and weakness to help them survive).
Actually, Boon duration only applies to boons you give (either to yourself or to others) not Boons you receive.
So if someone gives you 5s of swiftness and you have 100% boon duration, you don’t get 10s of swiftness, you get 5s. If you, however, give an AoE 5s of swiftness, it becomes 10s swiftness on everyone that receives it. (Note: Boon Duration IS applied in tooltips.)
Trident 54321
Spear 54321
Are strong skills.
How to use them? I typically start with…
Trident 5 —> 4 —> 3 —> 2 —> Spear 5 —> 2 —> 4 —> 3 —> 2 —> Trident 1
I think they realized that only complaints would ensue if they included a reward (or achievement) which eventually leads with people that have the reflex of a snail to start complaining in the forums.
Every time they make a jump puzzle, they tie an achievement to it. This prompts a lot of outrage from the non-finesse players who like to gather achievements.
To be completely honest, the Wintersday jump puzzle was the best possible jump puzzle. It was hard, but not too hard. It seemed as hard as the Clocktower, but it truly wasn’t once you finished it. In fact, it was relatively easy to the point of being grind-able once you were able to complete it.
The same can be said for the Clocktower, but until you get those first few finishes on Clocktower, it’s a gigantic pain in the rear end.
You forgot the ((DELETE-ME)) Achievements.
Do the holos for the achievement, not for chests. Grind mobs for chests….
I strongly suspect that many people with Legendaries only have them to show off how rich/awesome they are, not because they actually like the aesthetics of the weapon. If they did, then they wouldn’t be upset that many other people are also starting to get Legendaries, because the increasing number of Legendary owners means that they are no longer “exclusive”. In contrast, someone who got the Dreamer purely because they like shooting rainbow unicorns at everything is going to have a blast every time he pulls it out, regardless of whether or not ten other people nearby are doing the same thing.
I’m working towards the Quip because I love it. Sure, offhand Quip on a Mesmer puts me at a disadvantage in WvW, but I’m still working towards it. I’m just not sure if I want to have a secondary pistol for WvW specifically.
The only thing I dislike is that I only have 1 attack with the Quip and it’s on a 16 second cooldown.
By the price of the wings on TP, Id guess there’s lots of players doing this and not fighting for the Holo spawns.
What do the price of the wings have to do with the pinatas?
I think he means overflow hopping for the holo spawns. But that’s harder to do.
What’s the respawn rate on them? I think it’s faster running small farming parties hitting all in the area
8 minutes. If you go to obscure maps (AKA NOT QUEENSDALE), you can easily grind off mobs and run circles, grabbing the Holo’s.
Sure, I knew the risks with RNG, so I’m not upset, but I think there was a reasonable expectation that the rich coffers would give a good chance at getting tickets, given the 2 tier coffer setup, or else why bother doing it?
I’m fully on-board with the boycott of chests going forward. NCSoft/Anet could have milked me on these things for years if they weren ’t so absolutely greedy about it in the early going.
I’m not even bothering with the regular coffers anymore, I just sell them on the TP for a decent profit to recover some of my losses.
The boycott of rng chests has been going on since Wintersday. It’s not working because for every person that is boycotting it, there’s at least one other person spending hundreds of dollars buying mass amounts of chests.
There is no challenge in that, I am not helping anyone with that. That’s just killing random enemies and hope you are lucky.
It’s also just playing the game and getting rewarded for doing so.
I run Deep Glacial Teal + Midnight Ice. The closest to purple I ran was full Midnight Ice.
