Wait, wait, wait… you’re playing Mesmer without going melee? Do you not realize how overly strong Blurred Frenzy (mainhand sword) is?
At the Hydrone Unit WP in Metrica Province is a similar golem which says something like: I came here to kick kitten and chew bubble gum. And I’m all out of bubble gum.
And in the golem battle arena, sometimes they will do a captain planet combination golem tactic.
The larger hit values tend to occur when the target is butted up against a solid object so the zerker spins into the object and keeps spinning hitting the target with all 4 of it’s whirling strikes.
Saying it’s a “problem with the floaters” is all well and good, but it’s bullkitten. I’ve seen plenty of examples where a “big hit” zerker has melted a target, whereas a “weak hit” zerker has barely scratched an identical target. If the problem was purely cosmetic every target should melt like a “big hit”
You know what else has this issue? Both the ele (fiery great sword) and warrior (great sword) skills that our phantasm mimics, you know what that means? It’s how the bloody skill works!
The izerker doesn’t hit as weak as a lot of people think because half the time it’s just not showing how hard it really hit. Granted the skill doesn’t always hit a moving target as many times as it will hit a target pinned to a wall, but neither do warriors or eles.
I agree with this. If you make a Warrior and put on a Greatsword, then use your sweeping skill, you’re going to kitten out compared to what you’re expecting. If anything, iZerker was bugged and doing too much damage before.
if you campare that with the shortest dungeon run (wich you can only do once per character per day). This takes 9 minutes (CoF path 1) and rewards you with roughly 1-2 gold. So even if you have enough characters for it available this still only give you 12 gold per hour.
CoF path 1 isn’t a once per char thing. Most groups that run it in 6 minutes will run it on the same chars over and over again. You get gold from straight gold drops, making ~4-5g per hour BEFORE counting loot.
by now i’d like just to figure out if my friend thief will ever have a chance to beat me with his class without maybe making an anti-mesmer build just to beat me,
as we train we would like to be able to train both and not just me trying my 20 different ways to kill him
Yes, a backstab an invis Thief can down a Mesmer relatively fast if the Mesmer does not notice him coming or prepare adequately.
Id say start getting completion in the wvwvw maps right away. So if your server is red this week go grab all the poi and views in the red zones. If your server has the central big keep take the opportunity to get the poi and view in there. Actually this might not be as big a deal as before because Anet seems to be rotating the colors now. Before the last patch some were waiting 15 weeks to gain access to some poi and views. Because the other server was just too dang good! Was just thinking it would be a shame to be stuck at 99% completion for 15 weeks.
I was actually stuck at 99% for 8 weeks because of this. The places I needed weren’t even major places, they were just towers in the Borderlands which I eventually got because my world started to pick up.
Again, do a test on a jug or two to see if you get over 4500 karma from it with boosts on. If not, don’t chug masses of them until the bug is fixed! (or until it’s verified a relog with boosts on makes them kick in).
I got 8100 or so with them with 90% karma.
I opened up all my karma and got 2.5m, then I spent what I needed to spend and the rest on Orrian Jewelry Boxes and got another 2m, then spent another 2m on Boxes and got another 1m. Currently sitting on 1.2m karma.
Ah ok. Maybe it’s just a limit on creating guilds.
I just know that once you’ve created and/or are leader of one you lose the option to create another, so I assumed it was a limit on how many you could lead.
Wrong again. You are unable to create a guild while you are representing a guild, not while you are the leader of a guild.
1: In WvW, your gear scales to appropriate gear. This means if you’re level 10 and wearing a level 10 Blue, you’re essentially level 80 wearing a level 80 Blue (not quite right, but close enough). If your gear is lower level than you, you will get less stats than a level 80 piece of equipment. Additionally, it is possible to outstat a level 80 in WvW, which is why the level 80 wearing a level 80 Blue isn’t exactly right. If you are to outstat a level 80, once you levelup your stats will slowly diminish until they are correct.
I don’t know exactly how to outstat a level 80.
2: Arenanet has their own research team to figure out what needs balancing. We are not their most favored class, but we are still running strong even with the “we get nerfed every patch” mentality that a lot of Mesmers have. Mesmers are not necessarily easymode. You can play them easymode, but you can also 100b Warrior, or D/P Thief (actually it’s S/D right now for the mainstream build). Mesmer just has a much higher skill cap/ceiling (if there even is one) and a much higher skill floor. Note that even with the high skill floor, there are still some builds that allow unskilled players to utilize the Mesmer.
What most people don’t understand is that the lack of a skill cap on a Mesmer is not the same as a lack of a skill floor for a Mesmer. They will complain about a Mesmer killing their entire roam group when in reality they just fought a ridiculously skilled Mesmer (or they were trying to play with one hand while writing an essay with the other).
No, it’s simply “you’re in WvW”. I am in Northern Shiverpeaks and I have never, ever been in the world named “Northern Shiverpeaks [D]”
I see a lot of mesmers with legendary gs or sword. Much less of the other legendaries we can use.
The reason why is because they aren’t offhands. I’m working towards the Quip, but I’m not sure if I want to use it in WvW because it does make it obvious as to which is the real Mesmer. I might make a Bolt afterwards, but I’m definitely making a Quip.
Just be aware though that while you can be a member and even an officer in multiple guilds you can only be the leader of one (I think) so if you ever want to lead another guild you’ll have to either use the one you’ve got or disband it.
Wrong, I’m the leader of 2 guilds and I’m in a 3rd guild. I only rep one of the guilds that I’m a leader in. The 2nd guild is for the name and the 3rd guild is for guild bounties. (Since my main guild hasn’t gotten there yet… still waiting on my friends to get online. T_T)
Also, the item on the left is a lvl 80 item, which can’t be transmuted using the standard Transmutation Stones . You need the lvl 80 Transmutation Crystal .
You’d have to be using a Transmutation Crystal to put a level 80 item in the slot in the first place.
Just think outside the box.
The one thing I learned from Moto is to think INSIDE the box.
Use your knowledge of a class and trait up. Play around, have fun, do your own thing. Use other builds as templates if you don’t understand your class.
It kind of sucks, I wish you could take names and skins apart. I have an Experimental Collection Staff ver. 00.19.98.293 (or something like that) of the Geomancer. It’s the best name of a staff, really, but it has the classic staff skin.
I make alts, but for the sake of trying out something fresh. I have one 80 and plan to keep it as my main. I feel nothing wrong with that, and have no reason to get any other profession to 80. It’s what I want and that’s how I’m playing.
Two of the diving spots are inside of a jumping puzzle in Mount Maelstrom.
There is also a jumping puzzle where if you fall and die baby quaggans run over to res you. Some vistas are a combination of jumping puzzle/vista. The wiki has a list of the locations and solutions if you want to look them up.
I remember that one! Isn’t it in the Quaggan hatchery area. I say hatchery because there’s basically a nanny-Quaggan who raises a ton of baby Quaggans… right?
[D] is typically World vs World. It should be something like [Kaineng [D]], which is what happens in WvW. I don’t know the specifics of it, but when you do enter WvW, you’re in a [D]’ed world.
- Into the Void – Flashes yellow warning message across opponents’ screen for two seconds prior to activation. Must satisfy thief forum qq’ing.
Also added a two second delay before it pulls so the flashing yellow warning will be able to properly warn players.
Further added a two second delay so that a flashing red warning will ask, “Are you sure you don’t want to avoid this pull?”
And added a force-dodge if the player chooses to not dodge. This forced dodge will not incur any reduction in Endurance, ensuring that players of all skill levels will be able to dodge Into the Void. This also encourages players to try out new methods of fighting against skills that involves not pressing any key to counter them.
In the next patch (after June 11), we’ll include auto-battle, as seen in FFXIII! This will be included for every profession except Mesmers, ensuring that the community understands that Mesmers are an easymode class, able to compete on par with other classes while they don’t have to do anything!
For me it’s not really about the skills as it is about how cool my character looks. The main reason I use dual swords is because to me it looks awesome. I just love swords. I also love greatswords, but our greatsword isn’t a melee weapon and I can’t dual wield them. It’s important to me to have that look of a sword in each hand. So no matter what the skills were on swords, I would still dual wield them. And that’s why I always use a sword in the main hand. So even if the sword skills were terrible, I would use swords just because I like the way it looks.
I wanted to add that I actually like the torch skills, but torches look stupid. If only only I could use sword/sword and sword/sword and have the off hand sword in only one of those sets have the torch skills.
I agree, however, that really only works in open world PvE. Once you get to dungeons and WvW and PvP, trying to run S/S + S/S for kewlpoints ends up making you do and look bad (except for WvW zergs!)…
Scratch that, running S/S + S/S in a WvW zerg is a terrible idea and will make you look bad.
As for your disgust towards torch skins, there are, with any weapon type, those few, awesome, precious looking skins. It’s just a matter of finding it.
I’ve been running S/S for months now, and I’ve finally switched to S/P because…
- I’ve been working on the Quip (I personally love it).
- S/S is nice, but I needed a new build.
- I had terrible offhand sword choices (I mean, I do have my Wooden Sword of -Insert Element Here-, but it’s not really a viable choice when I have my Wooden Sword of Fire mainhand. I guess I could use my generosity sigil, but those are worth nearly 18g atm and I feel bad wearing 18g on my offhand).
Try moving your cursor a little bit closer so it’s in front of his feet. This way, the center of Mind Stab will be in range, and the target will get hit by the AoE. The game might think your cursor is behind the target, making your skill become “out of range”.
dual swords all the way! I use dual swords for everything.
S/S + S/S FTW! WEAPON SWAP? THAT’S JUST FOR SWITCHING FROM RUNES OF FIRE/WATER TO RUNES OF AIR/EARTH!
I use sword/sword and sword/pistol. The pistol is nice for ranged pulls. But that’s it. I never use greatsword, staff, sceptor or torch. I switch the pistol to focus when I’m running long distances and if I need iWarden to protect me from projectiles on very specific fights, such as the Dual Pistol boss in arah path 2.
Yeah, I like that boss. I run Defensive Golem (people don’t understand that he uses Shield of the Avenger twice before he dies if he survives full duration), Feedback, Mirror, Mimic, and Focus.
On a serious note, however, you may want to switch to S/X + Sce/X in WvW.

It’s broken, has been that way since launch.
That being said some mobs have ‘boons’ which aren’t really boons and cant be ripped or stolen.
Because who needs logic.
But some boons, when ripped, defy logic. It’s possible to get stacks of permanent Might in HotW. If you have 2 Mesmers, you can then make it 25 stacks and everyone in the party will have 25 stacks. These do get overridden by players throwing Might on other people.
Ah, with this and Seven’s videos now I’m sorely tempted to pick up the torch…
At least it’s one weapon that can (should) only get better with patches (he says…)!
Yeah, it’s pretty much at rock-bottom (not saying it’s bad, but they can’t really do anything without buffing it other than remove it altogether).
Actually, the real question is when are you going to do something.
The error occurs when the game hasn’t fully rendered everything. This means that your machine is not loading things fast enough. Things you can do to expedite this process:
- Put your OS and GW2 on a SATA or SSD instead of a HD.
- Upgrade your machine (ties in with above).
- Use an ethernet cable (not really a fix).
- Close excess programs.
- Close more excess programs.
- Close… excess programs. Yes, I’m looking at you, Mr. Audio Player.
- Go into your Hidden Icons at the bottom right of your screen (Windows) and close… excess… programs…
- Cooldown your machine and make sure it’s clean and clear of dust.
Most of those fixes will just speed up your machine and indirectly help solve the problem. Hope you had a nice day. I’ll see your neck soon.
I actually like iLeap failing in PvE and even PvP. The clone tends to die in an odd spot away from the target, which lets you run in, do an attack, then port out without wasting Blink.
It also works as a stunbreaker, so in PvE it helps tremendously when it dies to AoE in a spot too far back.
if ArenaNet was afraid of depicting a female with no breasts (for Australia’s sake), wouldn’t they have given Asura enlarged, human style breasts?
Asura were in GW1 and they had feminine clothing with no breasts.
Regardless, Arenanets stance on this was that they chose to re-use the male models of armor as a statement that Asura don’t really care about sexuality. This is, of course, a theory that has been thrown around. The backup reasoning is that Asura couples are formed by likeminded individuals who then tend to form a Krewe and proceed to, if they are the correct genders, have children. Homosexuality in Asura is commonplace and not frowned upon.
Honestly, I’d rather just have a toggle for male/female versions and I’d rather Asura have unique female versions versus kittenty clothes. That’s just my take.
The only clothing that use female models on Asura are T3 Cultural (which have issues and have been the source of many complaints) and Town Clothing (which does look ridiculous, namely the latest pair of shirts that change from fancy, dapper clothes to deep Vnecks on Asura. Also, the Wintersday outfit looks odd on an Asura.
Assuming you’re running a heal that has a cd of 20s, you’re getting 600 health in between your heals. That’s actually pretty decent. I’m not going to say outrageous or amazing, but it’s decent.
However, if you were to compare it to, say, Rune of the Ogre or Wurm (Ogre is 4% damage, Wurm is 3%), it becomes subpar.
Say I’m a -InsertStatHere- Mes. I can easily whip out 5k damage in a few seconds. Ogre would add 200 damage to that. Wurm would add 150. Considering my rotation is on an approximately 8 second rotation (not exactly right, just throwing out numbers and being overly generous right now). In the course of 20 seconds, I would be able to throw that out ~2×. That means I would get 400 or 300 damage, respectively. This is from using one skill on my bar and not even being zerker.
In case you didn’t know, I’m talking about Blurred Frenzy.
That means that Blurred Frenzy with Rune of the Ogre is 66% effectiveness of Rune of the Dolyak. HOWEVER, I doubt many people will fight you using only one skill and not wearing gear appropriate for that skill (or spec into it, for that matter).
Yes that’s fine. And no, you shouldn’t get whittled, depending on your build and skill level.
Well, if you build pure Vit/Toughness, you will get whittled because you won’t be able to retaliate for much (haha, retaliate… that can be taken in 2 ways, both fitting).
However, with just high toughness, you will need high condition removal to be able to survive as conditions will be the major damage dealer against your build.
The main reason why I say that it’s not going to be effective is because if someone is to pose a question like this on the forum, they’re most likely not going to get the right build to suit their stats, and then they will, at best, just get whittled down.
Welp, considering I run around with no vit or toughness and do decently, you should be fine. Don’t get into 1v1’s because you’re most likely just going to get whittled.
in GW it was possible for loot to assign to your mini, wich meant less drops actually
Actually it meant more because your Mini was tied to you and therefore drops for your mini were drops for you. Your heroes/henchmen, on the other hand, had “inventories” of their own, which were not shared with you.
Yep, the rules are you can have multiple accounts and can even run multiple accounts at once BUT you can’t be controlling them all at once.
If you hold down W only one character in one account should move forward. If you’re controlling 2 or more accounts at once then that’s not allowed.
You can control more than once. Simply use 2 keyboards and press 2 keys with your 2 hands. Good luck aiming and stuff, though.
Also, you can check the Crafting Stations. At the top, it’ll tell you how high you got with each craft on that character. It’s a bit slower than using the Tradesman in Achievements, but if you have multiple crafts on one char and multiple crafts over your account, it’s the only real method.
Mesmers are able to be good healers with one simple trait. Restorative Mantras gives ~3k heal with NO HEALING POWER. This means it can be used with ANY build (that uses 20 points in Inspiration).
I’ve seen some decent healing Engineers. They have really high cooldowns and don’t bring quite as much raw utility as a Mesmer, Ele, or Guardian, but that’s not to say that they’re useless in comparison. They can dish out stronger heals on a slightly higher cooldown, in addition to having large AoE heals.
Oh and someone else suggested this but you can buy http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rice_Ball on ‘Karma Spender’ day then eat them on ‘Daily Feast’ day.
Took me a while to figure out what you meant, but that’s a pretty neat idea.
Find a guild on your server that does dungeon runs. There is either a large, major guild that does it, or there will be multiple small ones. (Either way there will be some small ones.)
Join the large one if you want to be able to do any dungeon. Join the small one if you want to join a “family”.
Either way, do dungeons to get your gear. This gets you gold AND gear. Make sure you check “/wiki Item Nomenclature”: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Item_nomenclature to figure out what item stats you want. From there, go to /wiki Equipment Acquisition By Stats#Dungeons to figure out what dungeons you can/want to do.
Remember, you only get tokens from explorable mode and you’re free to do any dungeon regardless of what gear you want. AC is good for poor/weak people to get money on a daily basis. If you want to enter more hardcore grinding territory, learn your class and then join CoF Path 1 while wearing Berserker’s Gear and specc’ed properly. You’ll probably need some form of training for this.
secondary accounts (which are technically against the EULA)
No they are not. You are not allowed to use a secondary account in e.g. multi-boxing, but there is nothing wrong with having a secondary account for e.g. storage (or just to email items for storage knowing you will get it back).
Yeah, just read through the EULA. There is nothing stating you are not allowed to have multiple accounts. Multi-boxing falls under a different category as it’s controlling multiple accounts with the same key (one key, one action).
clones dont have offhand weapon, only real mesmer have food, only real mesmer can dodge
- Recently I’ve noticed opposing clones don’t have a guild tag
- Movement gives away a Mesmer quickly
- Look for dodges, strafing, moving side-to-side, etc
- Ranged clones are stationary unless you move too far away
- Look at the buffs
- If you’re in a group, mark the real Mesmer
- If the Mesmer stealths, look for them a few seconds later
- Only the real Mesmer can cast spells. Clones only auto-attack
Clones do have guild tags. You might have been fighting a mesmer out of a guild.
I agree with what Agony says for leveling up, however upon reaching 80, there is a slight difference. You don’t necessarily want to start yourself in Berserker’s.
Additionally, as you’re leveling up, you should stay as squishy as possible while maintaining a decent amount of tankiness to survive. Try to down as little as possible (but downing is fine and it IS a part of the game), but keep in mind that when you down you aren’t dead. In PvE, you can use the down skills to your advantage. In PvP, it’s not so easy. (Notably underwater. Intentionally staying down underwater gives you a major increase in damage output at the cost of being on the verge of death and having no control skills.)
Here are a few posts of mine that I thought of while reading this thread, they pertain to level 80 stuff but it may help you later.
Level 80 Gearing Up For Different Things
Please do not respond to those topics as they are dead threads.
As a closing note, I would like to re-iterate what I said before… try to stay as squishy as possible while maintaining a decent amount of tankiness to survive.
P.S. Downing is fine, just try not to die as much as possible!
You wouldn’t spec into the toughness on revive. Why? If everyone grabs Runes of Mercy, it’s the same effect without taking a trait spot. Also, I can see it working in a small roam group. Not so sure about a zerg.
Guild Armor for chestpiece. Pants/Gloves/Helm/Shoes are different things.
About the achievement points, i played 600 hours so far and I have about 4300 points. Another player likes to salvage and has 6k points and 2000 hours of time ig. Who is the better player?
Answer:
We both suckI just play more efficiently…
There’s nothing conclusive that shows someone is a good player. Some are very knowledgeable, but can’t even dodge a tree
. Other players know crap, but anticipate very well in combat…
Haven’t done arah exp, but story was nothing, mb my PUG was just really good, dunno.
Dungeon Master and Agent of Entropy are both the “infinite” achievements. They were recenlty changed to give a max of 150 achievement points each. After a while your only source of achievement points are the 14 dailies if you do every one of them. It’s more of a sign of who is a dedicated player, however you can use low achievement points to spot bad players.
Anyone at around 3k+, in my opinion, has the capacity to be good. Not including secondary accounts (which are technically against the EULA), having 3k+ means you’ve played enough to know what you are doing and not have had to grind anything. If you’re under 3k, you’re most likely a relatively new player, however I won’t hold anything against you (unless you have a commander tag, in which case I will watch you with harsh scrutiny).
The cool kids walk and know what Eye of the North looks like on the inside.
Anyone can go to EotN, it’s about having pets and items there.
No, not everyone can go, not in GW2.
Everyone can. The Hall of Monuments Portal Stone is available for sale in Lion’s Arch for 0c from an NPC. You may not have any rewards available, but you are still able to visit. If you talk to the Historian, he will tell you that you have a legacy but no heirlooms, or something.
Korea players play on EU or NA servers. I’m not sure which one they play. Apparently the ping isn’t too bad. I know of people in Australia playing on NA, and I know of people in America playing in EU. Neither of them have major latency problems, so I would just stay where you are and if the lag gets bad, try swapping but be careful (you can also try using a trial account or something, if they ever get re-implemented).
I wish I was able to use utility skills. Unfortunately my fingers aren’t that skilled.
Re-bind (or alternative-bind them).
I have my skills set to 1234567890 and alt12345 = 67890. So if I want to heal, I can use Alt+1 or 6. etc etc etc
Absolutely, whenever people call for a speed boost sigil I always wonder what I could possibly give up.
Signet*
Ah, it won’t work. You’re EU and I’m NA.

I just play more efficiently…
