While I appreciate the cutesy clouds and terrible graphics are supposed to trigger a nostalgic response from me and make this new content fun, I can really only say 1 thing..
If I wanted to play a mario, I’d be playing mario.
I want to play Guild wars 2. Please spend your resources on content for that game.
Lemme guess, you were born in the 90s
I dislike your overgeneralization. I was born in the 90s, but I guess I’m indifferent because my earliest memories were of the SNES (I still have Super Mario RPG and a few other classics in my parents garage).
I had a phase I think a year or two ago where I wouldn’t look at any F2P game that looked bad, but I’ve since overcome it (although I guess now that I have GW2, I don’t even need to overcome it, hehehe).
I understand what you’re getting at, though, Mr. Soulstar. The new “needs to be shiny” graphics generation is really mucking things up for the classic and unique retro style. Some can say that it doesn’t “feel” Guild Wars-ey, but it does fit in with the way Guild Wars works. It does not go out of the way to do what it does in the Guild Wars universe. Heck, 500 years ago, they played card games with holograms that battled each other [Polymock]. Based on technological advancement, this sort of thing should have happened a lot earlier in the Guild Wars universe, especially because Asura have had working G.O.L.E.M.s (AI) for over 500 hundreds. Sure, they don’t have Computers, but the Flame and Frost hinted at the Molten Alliance having a Computer, possibly being a fully automated Computer Fighting Robot (with no need for a living power source or controller).
I suppose they can’t please everybody.
Too bad you don’t like it. I find it quite amusing.
I agree that it’s quite amusing the first 3 runs, but you need like 20+ runs for a skins. Pretty boring.
I have done 10 runs that gave Bauble Bubbles (I ran more times just for fun with friends, meaning no Glorious Chest) and have gotten 61 Bauble Bubbles and one skin.
This means that in half your hyperbolic statements’ estimate, I have obtained double the expected amount. The total math of that is 4x the efficiency, meaning ~1 skin in 5 runs, by my rate of attainability.
Just gonna throw this out there: could the lack of finesse be intentional, mimicking the games of old? And if it is, is it acceptable to do this in a throw-back homage game placed inside a polished game?
I don’t think so. There’s a difference between intentionally unpolished and unpolished.
It’s kind of like the idea of: “It takes someone with great skill to portray lack of skill.”
Getting someone who sings badly to sing well.
versus
Getting someone who can sing well to sing badly.
Theoretically, the outcome should be the same, but it’s not.
The games you listed on that list of “retro” games are simply older games, not at all retro or 8bit. This is going for a classic style.
If you’re getting nausea/sickness, you may want to stop playing for extended periods of time. Other than that… Turn off your audio. That’s the only solution I can really see.
If the problem persists, I’m going to assume you also get motion sickness while doing jump puzzles and tend to stray from partaking in them. Try Infantile Mode for a less intensive gameplay experience.
Also, Eve Online isn’t really considered a low-graphic game…
EDIT:
Caught your edited p.s. so I’ll respond to that in this edit area.
The only real way to not get lost is to keep up with your allies. Call out and coordinate. If your team won’t do that, find a new team, or just run solo. It scales very well (aka it’s challenging with 1-5 without being overly insane, unless you do 5 with nobody doing anything but yourself).
I agree that 0/20/20/0/30 is very flexible. I personally don’t run it anymore, but it gives you pretty much everything you need for almost any job.
Wow, people complain about anything. Even alt grinding for a super skin would take longer than i dunno, the many popular ways to make gold these days. #entitledcrybabies
Actually, it’s faster to alt grind than to CoF to get the money for a skin.
It wouldn’t be a bannable offense because it’s not going to ruin the economy, but it may get patched soon, so keep your eyes out if you’re been abusing it. If you haven’t been abusing it and/or don’t care, well… it doesn’t apply to you, so why are you seeing what you should feel.
I care because I may decide to, and I’d like an answer before I do. If I don’t get one, I’ll assume it’s kosher and probably do it since I’m on break and have lots of time to play this week and will have none for the rest of the month,
So you’re calling for a Red? Just letting you know, but that’s technically a forum offense.
One of the offenses is:
Do not post petitions, “I demand an answer” threads, conspiracy threads, or comments about circumventing the rules.
By posting on the forums, you agree to the rules…
The fairness! The most important thing in any video game! I don’t want to win or survive longer because i got better gear and/or achievements. It’s a really skill based challenge and that makes it so appealing!
To be fair, though, the achievements are easier to get in Infantile Mode, which caters to less skill (but it doesn’t make the hardest of the achievements too much easier to get).
I concur, during the cage fights it’s less of a battle and more of a “hold down both mouse buttons and rotate camera. spam spacebar if in swamp”. The enemies also can’t react fast enough, to the point where dodging actually puts you in the way of some projectiles.
It’s a free, one-month event. If you’re complaining about free content, you’re focusing on the wrong thing to complain about. This doesn’t impact your gameplay experience unless you force it to.
The game is still the same game that you’ve bought. Arenanet always has done good events. Good is an opinionated word being used by ME and does not represent anyone else’s opinion unless they explicitly agree with me or “share the feels”. The Super Adventure Box is not going to dynamically/drastically change your Guild Wars Experience TM. You’re not suddenly going to be forced to play an 8bit game after buying a 3D game. If you want to partake in the event, you can. If you don’t like it or don’t want to participate in it, you don’t have to.
It’s just like WvW/Dungeons/sPvP/Open World PvE. Just because you don’t like where one of them is headed doesn’t mean the entire game is bad and that it needs to be removed. You’re not the only player and neither am I.
Additionally, the Super Adventure Box comes equipped with Infantile Mode which allows (and, in fact, assists in) achieving all the Achievements and the Title.
Potentially off-topic, I just had an idea for a Mimic rework that will never get implemented.
Make it so that it becomes a mini-Feedback around you that absorbs all projectiles for 3 seconds then gets stored until you go down/mapchange/activate. Upon activation, it releases a magical bolt that does damage equal to the average damage of all reflected projectiles * a modifier or just the damage of all the absorbed projectiles.
I don’t really want to jump in the middle of this, but isn’t this exactly like the multiple character farming through dungeon runs?
The only problem I see is that the SAB has no character level limit, which apparently allows some people to keep running by creating new characters all the time. Even a ridiculously low character level limit, say, 10, would fix the problem.
Agreed. I want to know if this is an exploit or not. They’ve said it is fine with Black Lion Keys, so I assume it’s fine with this as well. It’s also so incredibly easy to prevent I have no idea how it could be. It’s known it is done to get the personal story level key, so it’s not like it’s some crazy out of nowhere idea.
If it is there should be some clear communication that it is, because right now most people think it’s fine and don’t deserve a ban because there was no warning or communication.
It’s not like the few extra unbound skins are going to wreck the economy.
As is complaining about an event by stating that it has “no place” in the current framework of the game. It actually does have a place. It’s a game within a game (haha, gameception joke here…).
The Super Adventure Box is supposed to be a Game Console/Simulator.
To everyone wondering why they can’t use their classes skills, it’s because you’re not playing your class anymore. You’re playing a game within GW2. They simply use your character and a modified UI so it doesn’t look like a World of World of Warcraft where you tell your character to tell his character to play.
I think a lot of people would feel better about it if they had their models replaced with a pixelated model, but then we’d get complaints of “LOLOMGYUHASMINECRAFTWITHINGW2” and the complaints will never end…
Did I mention complaints will never end? Someone will always be dissatisfied.
What kind of speed runs are we talking about though?
Getting ALL the (achievement) baubles in the shortest amount of time or fastest person to reach and kill the toad?
cause once you get the achievement for collecting all baubles, it’s kinda hard to know if you missed one or two in later runs because you can’t really check it.
Just getting the Bauble Bubbles, aka finishing the Zone as fast as possible.
Lol! Seriously, I went back and looked up the definition of trolling a forum and was scratching my head thinking maybe I had overstepped, thereby pretty much making my post on negativity … negative. I shouldn’t be allowed on the forums this early in the morning.
Neither should I. I tried to salvage my post with an on-topic remark (note, it was not edited in).
I’m a troll? Now I’m confused about what that means. I thought I was making light.
Nonoono, I was just trolling you. I’m sorry for the misunderstanding, I had to troll you right there.
I like the way it is now. It is kind of cool to get to use all my characters in a row toward a goal like this. I’m having fun and I’m getting cool stuff for my characters. There is no reason to ruin it by pandering to the “I don’t just want to have, I want you not to have” crowd. There is more than enough stuff that can scratch that itch in the game already. Having something like this for the rest of us is great.
Continuing on this, by “farming” with multiple [potentially new] characters stops players from using their acquired skills and forces them to use less.
- it scales very good from single player to full group
Keep in mind, however, that the scaling is only good if done with friends for a truly unadulterated pleasant experience. Going with pugs is highly un-recommended.
@TwoBit, I agree with the Rabids part. It’s like you’re praying to the AlmightyMotoGod that you hit a wall AND are able to jump before getting knocked down again.
Also, if you go through the Shortcut **** (Starred for psuedo spoiler), you tend to fly with the knocked down animation, which is really awkward.
EDIT: More stuffs…
I did a run on each of my characters (other than my main) for the first time. The first few were slow, but they got faster and faster. Now, even on my main (who has everything unlocked) I still only use the Stab/Jab/Poke combo only. I don’t carry potions, I don’t use any other skill, I don’t need to, or really want to. (I will bomb for secret rooms when playing with friends.)
Enabling Auto-Attack definitely helps playing with Pointy Stick-only. In case you’re wondering how to do it, simply hold Ctrl as you right click on the skill. Now, when you’re in combat, you’ll automatically attack, just like in PvE!
Note: You may have to re-enable it at times. The transfer from 1-2 —> 1-3 causes it to forget. Also, rejoining does the same thing. Death does not forget the auto-attack.
Also, the Moto’s Breath is underwhelming. Long cast time (leaves you vulnerable for a LONG time) for a knockback with no damage that has a really weird hitbox (isn’t very… well… obvious as to where it hits). I might as well just Stab + Jab for a kill.

Well this is getting off-topic.
Back on topic, I think if anyone wants to read the continuation of this thread, please go here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/sab/Great-Concept-Laden-With-Poor-Game-Mechanics/
I think the system is fine. You need to talk to Moto again to use the Coin. First time is a bit awkward, but so is everything else in this game.
I had to delete some a while back, but I haven’t slept in 48 hours, so I claim it as insomniac’s prerogative.
Squeeze. Every. Second. From. Spring. Break. When did “I love content too much, Milo” become so mean? :P
Delete out anything contradictory to your first statement.
Then get a spvp guy to come back you. Goodjob sport.Take the time to comeback with some substance. I’ll be afk for a bit.
Huh? I just deleted duplicates? Not any content. What is it you think I said?
Wow, you guys are reaching. Thought this was a normal thread, but you guys are obviously targetting anything, ie me.
My posts were simply opinions and not directed/targeting anyone until you started calling me “Milo’s buddy”. You called me out, not the other way around.
They just need to get rid of all waypoints but the one in your citadel. You die, you rezz in your homeworld and have to walk.
Actually, what they would have to do is force all waypoints to not work while you’re alive. If you want to leave, you must return to base by either dying or walking. Logging out will keep your character at their current position (if inside a keep/gate/camp/jump puzzle, simply put player at entrance when they return) unless they’re offline for, say, an hour+, then they return to Lion’s Arch.
This would prevent players from logging out inside objectives in case they get flipped so they can easily bomb/flip it from inside and it would make it more… well… engaging. You can’t just escape super easily. Sure, you can logout, but if you’re in combat, you login dead, so, good job to you.
Sometimes I wonder if it’s just fashionable to be negative. I think maybe we’ve made it that way. Maybe it looks wise to sagely sit back and pass judgement negatively on something that is obviously making a lot of people happy. To be the lone, dissenting voice, shrieking out that, wait! hold the phone! THEY didn’t get what THEY wanted. Wisely, we need to be informed that we are silly for snapping up this drivel, that we are all being lead down the road to kittendom. For somewhere, there is that pure, wonderful game that is best for all of us. Never should we waver from our demands of being given that game, through free updates, as painful and as dreary as that ultimate grail will be. Cast out these fun updates! Never take your eyes away from the ideal of the one true game, never step off the trail that leads the developers there. Praise their efforts only in pursuit of that shifting, indefinable goal and negatively post on all other dalliances of free fun.
I absolutely, positively think you are incorrect because here in my high chair, I do not sit back… I lean back with my arms folded across my chest.
/troll
Anyways, I honestly feel like anyone who has a complaint about a free event that does not have ANY part of it tied into paying real money (okay, sure you can use the gem argument, but I can use the gold—>gem argument, so hah) should close their browser, get on Guild Wars 2, and not partake in the event.
WOAH, SO MINDBLOWING.
WTB > circle strafing
Beats everything but the snakes with one button.
I dunno man. I just pre-cast Chaos Storm then open up with Phase Retreat for Chaos Armor and Blink right back in (bypass knockdown with PR and Blink).
Swap to Sword/Sword and hit things with my Wooden Swords. Oh wait, I just realized I still hit those things with Wooden Swords, hahahahahaha.

I’m a PvE guy, and I have your quote here. Go ahead and delete it to try and save face.
No, not later this month or next month, eventually
having in mind that on April 30th this content will be shut down, yes, this month.
Doubt they’ll finish it, but they did get such good reviews, I think we’ll get a watered down version (probably with 5 lives each day minus continue coins/one ups per character) without the achievements so they can keep progressing it.
EDIT:
Forgot to add once an account Bauble Bubble reward, or “Glorious Chest” equivalent.I don’t see why they would take the achievements out to be honest. There’s no point in doing that.
Well, they’d take out the open world bauble chests, which would, for the most part, render baubles somewhat useless in an inventory, therefore, they could easily integrate baubles into your ingame inventory, which would also help with the creation of new characters (as your bauble bubbles could potentially be stored on the character that finished it).
Not sure what that has to do with achievements. I’m tired, sorry. I just want my Distinction in Applied Jumping to be a unique title. I don’t want everyone else to have graduated from my college, as well… LET AN ASURA DREAM!
Only zone 1 but definitely gets you baubels worth time invested…in end 5 min run…keep in mind this isnt the full thing this is just to get ur skin as fast as possible after you got ur baubel bubbles for the day
Really? I timed myself from when I loaded in (started as soon as I started moving on the clouds) and I got 4 minutes on zone 1 with 3 deaths on the 3 bauble jump because I was trying to do it while my computer was fps dropping like mad.
Melees melt through mobs, especially in open world, much much faster tho – for the cost of some extra effort, as some might perceive it (which imho is silly in the first place – you can faceroll nearly everything even in melee, or at least as faceroll it as while ranged). Every ‘melee class’ has ranged weapons, too, if you want to have it easier but a bit longer.
I dunno man… 100b warrior is pretty effortless in PvE open world.
You don’t need Extra Heart. Try buying a key from the store.

Would you all learn how to use the Edit button, and or copy paste so we don’t have triple-posts WITHOUT deletion in between.
I can get around 10 if I get a near-perfect run in, but my machine is finicky and I don’t want to get FPS drops because I’m recording since I’m at a stable 15 FPS…
I’m just reading/lurking. I felt my two cents was needed there because I got confused. Regardless, I feel like it’s fine the way it is. There is the “hardcore” method and the “casual” method. Both are viable, and both will, theoretically (statistically) net you the same reward, just in a different method.
I am going to be grinding until I get more Bauble Bubbles (not really going to make new characters… unless I’m really bored and need to get my Moto-fix).
The thing is, it’s not fully implemented. I bet they’re going to add more rewards and, therefore, I want to save my Bauble Bubbles. That, and if I play the Box all month, I might get more skins the skins I want without having to use my Bauble Bubbles… or maybe the other way around, so I can have tradeables!
EDIT:
Now my post makes no sense… Tamaki please stop deleting your posts.
slow clap rising to standing ovation, accompanied by nodding heads of approval, whoops and a bit of confetti/glitter
And what, pray tell, does the title reflect?
That my Illusionary Swordsman can jump very well as he strikes down my foes with his leaps.
Ranger .5/10/35/5/20
But I heard 40/.3/34.7/0/0 is better…
6.
Knight/Soldier.
Rabid.
Valkyrie.
Berserker.
Explorer.
Magi (or Apothecary or Cleric, I dunno).
Which ones do I use?
Valkyrie and Berserker.
I do, however, carry them all with me at all times. All my accessories are Bers, though.
Everything is Exotic (minus the Ascended accessories). Waiting on Guild Commendations for the earrings since I don’t wanna use 100 ecto.
I cast feedback and they’re out of it before it is even done casting :x
Umm… it’s an instantcast…
But you care if someone could spare 2 1/2 hours in a day on them?
I don’t understand where you got this from. The soulbound system allows for speed runs as well as allows for those who grind to gain from their efforts.
But I’d rather not have the skins on a few alts, what so ever. But they’re now soulbound. Why would I even run the event on them.
What are you talking about, they’re not soulbound.
There are the droppable rare (rarity, not drop rate) tradeable weapon skins and the purchaseable master (rarity) account bound weapon skins…
Unless they ninja patched in the last hour.
If you read back: He thinks they should be made soulbound so they are harder to get (can’t speedun on alts and send them to a main) so people who look for every bauble in every nook and cranny 24/7 for the next month get more/faster skins because that is how he plays.
That would ruin the entire system. Now my Ranger (for the sake of the argument. In reality, I have no Ranger) will get a Staff that I can’t move… yay.
On the other hand, it doesn’t change anything because they would most likely still be dropping as skins, which, if we put onto a white weapon, becomes account bound, anyways.
You don’t need bombs. They just do double damage. The shard bug is getting fixed right now.
Not even joking here but you guys need to spend ALOT MORE TIME on boss hitboxes and targetting, I was soloing that frog boss and honestly it’s great fun but I just died for the second time without any continues because of the horrific targetting. I sat back on a rock literally clicking all over the frog and spamming tab target trying to kittening find it and failed, then out came the tongue and boom.
It would seriously make the game so much more fun.
Exactly, trying to target the boss was annoying, but otherwise it was easy.
You’re not SUPPOSED to target the boss until he starts waving his head around. Until then, you can only target his necklace to create jewel fragments. The boss fight works fine and the targeting is perfect. The problems I have are with avoiding his attacks as jumping is the equivalent of rolling unless we’re talking about his tongue, which is really awkward because rolling doesn’t do anything unless we’re talking about his tongue.
But you care if someone could spare 2 1/2 hours in a day on them?

I had mine 10 hours ago. Can’t really post a screenie since I’m not ingame. NSP here.
Hidden shop, no baubles. You’ll see the shop if/when you’re going for the title. Can’t really miss it if you explore zone 3 to the full extent.
Hint: The AlligatoCrocodilly that blocks an entrance is blocking an entrance.
I agree, 30 days is plenty. As fun as it is the novelty would be lost if it were permanently in the game.
Except that there are only 4 zones released. Assuming there are 3 zones per world, that means it’s 1/3 released (1-1,1-2,1-3,2-1 are released).
Actually, the only problem I found with it was the lack of polish code (not to be confused with polished code, although similar).
Things to note are:
- Enemies will occasionally strike players in melee after their ranged attacks have been thrown, no animation shown. It seems like remnants of code that are copying Mario where players will get hurt by touching enemies, however it occurs when near an enemy, not when touching an enemy.
- Mushroom jumping lacks finesse. Player position is ignored when touching a mushroom for a jump. It auto-centers your player AFTER the jump has been initiated. This means players can jump a longer distance by moving forward to the edge of a mushroom, then get jumped instead of falling off. It also will screw up normal, unabusive jumps.
- Frog boss jump attacks don’t coordinate. The damage and animation are off. If you jump over the animation, you’ll still get hit, but if you jump as it starts, it acts as if you rolled. If you roll, however, you still get hit (for the most part).
- Poison water tends to tick every full second (instead of using delta time) meaning that players can get damaged immediately upon entering water as opposed to being in water for one full second.
I can run the entire thing in 10 minutes (minus Rapids/Cart). I honestly don’t care too much for Rapids, as the lack of a boss puts me off.
Also, you can get the Bauble Bubble of Rapids in Infantile Mode. Hehe.
Having something good and then taken away, the absence doesn’t only make it grow fonder, but grows anger as well. They will want it back. Need only see the reaction of City of Heroes fans to understand an inkling of what that is like. Despite my love of GW2, the hatred of NCsoft still runs hot for me and there are many that won’t touch another game published under NCsoft because of it.
Arenanet is not NCSoft. NCSoft doesn’t have [much] say in what Arenanet does.
Seems to be 24 hrs.
I did my first one at like 3 AM Server Time. I did the next one at 5 PM Server Time (reset). Got Bauble Bubbles both times.
Is there any intention of making this an actual available weapon skin ingame?
I’m a fan of one-handed swords, especially those of the wooden variety. I have every wooden sword from wintersday, 4 wooden swords (Wooden Sword of Fire, Water, Air, Earth, going to add Generosity a sweet old-school reference after I finish making the rest of my skins Exotic Berserker), 2 Ebon Vanguard Swords for Roleplay/looks, 2 Ghastly Swords (Sigil of Night synergy is so nice), and a few more swords, all of which are exotic (except the wintersday which are still in skin form).
In case you’re wondering, my main two swords are Wooden Sword of Air in mainhand and Wooden Sword of Water in offhand. I also use Ghastly Swords when it’s nighttime for obvious reasons.
So… when I saw the pointy stick, I was absolutely, positively, drastically in love at first sight. Is there any, any, any possibility of this skin becoming available to players?
Thanks in advance. (I’ll post a screenshot of all my swords in inventory after sorting my alts inventories.)
Inside the game, you can only carry 250. Try putting it in your bank or find and purchase a coin purse in one of two hidden shops. (Increases cap to 500 on one character, one time buy per character)
I fully agree. You shouldn’t be able to just Create/Delete/Create characters just for the sake of getting a skin. It’s taken me 2 days to get 1 skin from bubbles and 1 skin from the chest on 4 characters, which I would never delete. It seems people just want to make a huge profit out of these skins from the chest drops though.
Who said anything about deleting characters? Grinding on multiple characters is not the same as creating characters to grind for items. Either way, you’re not forced to do either of them. You can take it slow and hope you get one out of the chest.
