Why would a company add something that will clearly kill potential $ income from gem purchasing.
Yea, why would they, especially when they recently added new bank collectible spots for lodestones/holiday mats, freeing up space and discouraging people from buying bank space with gems.
because these items are crafting materials? this had to be in from the start. the pet slots are there from the beginning aren’t they? – enough said.
No, but each day this game feels more like playing wallstreetwars2. I finished a degree in economics and this is the last thing I want to do in a game that I love. There has to be regulations. Even trading between players should be in. Every time I click on the BLTC this movie pop up in my mind:
So what do you love about this game?
If you didn’t have too much gold in-game (say you have 100G) is there anything preventing you from doing the things you love about this game?
Pretty much everything else. Just the TP bugs me off. Not everybody knows how economics work thus giving the people who do an advantage over other players.
It’s like – get rich or die trying. I know how to play the TP but this is not my game and I refuse to play that way. But why should I and many others feel kittened up by people who does exactly the opposite by screwing up with the prices. This ain’t fun – IN A GAME.Well, you didn’t answer my 2nd question though. Is not being rich really killing you? Or preventing you from accessing the areas in the game that you find “fun?”
Like, I totally understand when players don’t like parts of the game. People don’t like dungeons, people don’t like WvW, people don’t like JPs…That’s perfectly fine. Play the way you like, because NOT playing what you don’t like (With the exception of fractals/ascended stuff the past few months, kitten you anet) isn’t preventing you from doing what you like.
Ofc it’s killing me. For example after the karka event I’m busting my kitten off to save money to get a precursor in a orderly fashion way. I am casual player. Since November, so far I got like 80% of the items needed to make a legendary. But everytime I get close to buying it from the TP (because throwing down like 1500+ greatswords in the mystic toilet didn’t do the job, neither the karka chest), someone kittenes up the prices.
All I do now is leveling alts, playing with random ppl, things like that. WvW is not my thing neither is PvP. Fractals is beyond grindish (thx for the laurels btw).
I enjoy playing with others, and love playing for the high end stuff. Fixing Orr was a great move, now why not stop this market craziness, or a least tweak it a bit.
If they wanted/needed to they would’ve bring it to the game already. Why would a company add something that will clearly kill potential $ income from gem purchasing.

I played WoW since release, I’m a huge fan of the franchise but can’t go back play it anymore. Ok maybe I’ll go when Sargeras shows up. The only thing that makes me go back is the storyline. The books were awesome as well.
In the other hand GW2 is better beyond any other mmo’s I’ve played but lack a good story.

The ONE AND ONLY way to calm the kitten market prices is to add a regulation like a timed expiration date for postings. 48 hours will do the job.
What are you talking about?
I don’t want to sound rude but please
REMOVE IT REMOVE IT REMOVE IT!
This is the only thing I truly deeply hate in this game!
From November 15th patch:
The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.

Latest thread by Anet concerning this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Share-your-data-about-perceived-strange-drop-behavior-here/page/27#post1397411So far there have been about 50 pages of comments (a lot on deleted threads) about this and the general level of open world loot. Most people feel that since the November 15th patch open world loot was nerfed or DR got bugged for a lot of people.
It’s been 3 months and Anet haven’t fixed anything yet, champions are still not guaranteed to drop loot.
+1
The question is – are we going to see more jumping puzzles?
Also I would like to see the Clock tower permanently in the game!
@Josh Foreman – you know the guys from Crystal Dynamics should envy you. Even Tomb Raider can’t pull off the difficulties and brilliance in some of jp’s (ok they might will but still you’r doing an amazing job with this).

Like this guys said above – “That would kill profits”
And that’s all there is.
Almost 1400hrs, and one key dropped since Launch. Got two in beta.
Exactly! During beta stage I had like 6-7 drops and said ok that’s cool. But then release came and so far I had like 1-2 drops and that’s it. The rest are from story and map completion. Bummer.
so far tossed 1300+ greatswords = 0 precursors
Just add a limit for the listed items. Expiration date – 48 hours would be a fine solution considering the listing fees.
Ok this just now in from the Plinx event chain. My first exotic drop from a corpse EVER!
The drops were random, just from corpses, those wooden chests dropped mostly green items and that corrupted lodestone. I see people talking about a nerf for the T6 mats from bags. I see a slight change to that at the moment. Did 2 temples = 3 rares, jormag dropped 1.
Just to clarify I did get sleep, and I did all you asked me to do lol >.< At the moment I’m doing various things ingame and so far I got 2 rare items and some rare mats, about 20 bags from risen and this and that.
I was so stuck with with the DR before the patch that I almost quit the game. Let’s see how things goes today. Will report later.
Yesterday i played for […]
I stopped reading here. Yesterday was a different game (the game you liked). Not working as intended, so it was patched today and nerfed into oblivion.
I continued to play even after that patch and nothing felt odd. It was the same drop I was receiving prior to it. Now I just logged in again and let’s how things goes.
Edit: my playtime yesterday was from 10am to 8am today.

+1 for diminishing returns!
Hey guys, I kept silent for quite some time now waiting for this update and now I want to share with you my observations since the patch so here it goes:
First of all I am so happy with the changes in Orr. Yesterday i played for 20 hours with some 2 hours break from time to time. At first when I logged in went straight for Jormag. Just before the event My second kill gave me a rare scepter and the third kill gave me corrupted lodestone. So I said to myself “wtf is going up here”. Because of that after the event I went straight to LA to make a full magic find gear + food (I hadn’t used it before because it was clearly a broken stat), just to try test it and went playing in Orr.
After the first 3 hours of karma farming, doing dragons and stuff I got my bags pretty filled up with all kind of greens/blues and got like 10 rares so far. And let’s not mention the bags from the undead (crazy t5,t6 rainfall). After a short break I went to do fractals lvl 5 and I got my first EXOTIC! That’s right – an exotic drop from a chest! WOW. Ofc rare items of all kinds as well.
Also during the day I did all the dragon events and all of the chests gave me at least 1 rare item. (shatty was more generous and 2 times gave me x2 rare items).
I did some WvW and had some badges and some blueish items – nothing special there.
All in all I was so excited with the drop I received that I kept playing and playing all kinds of activities until I found that it was already 8 a.m. in the mornig.
Overall here is the statistic I kept during the first 15 hours of gametime:
Bags: 200+ !
Blues: 150+
Greens: about 100 or so
Rare: 56! (on that i kept count)
Exotic: 1 (a helm I can use to be exact)
Lodestones: 1 corrupted, 1 onyx from a orrian chest with karma; few cores of all kinds.
Now I haven’t kept true track of the blue/green items but I made this judgement because of the salvage kits ( I salvage all items I get). And I bought A LOT! (aprox spent 70-80 silver for green salvage kits from the vendors). Only the rare items were my goal for precise tracking.
I was with 150+ magic find on me during the entire day. If things stay that way I’m happy about the changes. To be continue..
orr density changes confirmed
Although the video is amazing and is truly accurate I LAUGHED SO MUCH!!!!! thank you for posting
Yep they didn’t say anything we don’t know yet. Time wasted.
But why would he have to do something else to get a lodestone (farming gold). He clearly went for farming lodestones, not gold. It’s about the choice. I do prefer to farm lodestones instead of farming gold to buy them. He has a point.
Question: How would you guys explain the November 15th patch note – "the drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans and WvW players ) has been increased.Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. "
Clearly this isn’t working and it has been an issue for 2 months now with no actual response/solution. Any comment/fix would be appreciated. Thanks.
(edited by Etien.4601)
Yep, still waiting for that name change.
So after a few months with no actual response to the issue and after people stop to report anything whatsoever (including me) think I’m gonna speak freely just for the sake of the conversation here.
Basically it goes like this:
Back in the day when Aion launched the same thing happened (like in any other mmorpg in that matter) bots flooded the game. RMT’s popped 2-3 months after launch and things seemed have hit the bottom. The drop was low, bots farming every single kitten mob, prices skyrocketed at the auction house.
But one day when I logged in I couldn’t believe what my eyes saw. There was not a single bot and the drop seemed increased. It was like magic. So I checked up the forum to see an official statement and the only things written was something like “Done. Fixed” – no gibberish, no hard explanations. Just one single sentence from a dev and that was it. Whoever played Aion I’m pretty sure can back me up on this.
Edit: remember the double exp/drop weekends on a regular basis? now that was AWESOME. (single and party wise).
And what do we have here. Bashing a MAJOR issue under the rug and trolling patch notes.
So I wonder how much time do we have to wait for something to change? I see some responses here and there from devs but all feels like empty talking.
My irl friends don’t play anymore because of this (and I lured them to buy GW2, so now I kinda feel I cheated them). And me personally I am this close of quitting. With Tera going F2P and some other titles on the way I start to wonder…
(edited by Etien.4601)
I’m on the same boat. Roughly 1100+ rare GS’s and about 50+ exotic in the mystic toilet. lalalalalalalala
You know there was a time (and still is) when you just had to kill Kil’jaeden/Illidan Stormrage to get a legendary weapon And I just had to pay 15 bucks and have good luck to get the bow. Just sayin`
Well to be honest I am as well bumped for the lack of communication. In the other hand I can hardly imagine the work force they’ve put into this game this year. Despite all the troubles and game issues I do believe that the team deserved a good break off.
Just be patient. This is by far the most responding team I’ve seen so far and pretty sure they will keep up the pace.
Like Notorious BIG said once: GIMME THE LOOT)
I don’t play anymore!
Seriously! I wan’t to play but not this way! Just waiting here playing League of Legends, reading the forums daily until this get fixed. How much longer would it take? Come on!!!!!
If i read “supply/demand” one more time…. (ragequit)
Few hours ago I just saw how someone bought it right in front of my eyes. Legendary pockets indeed.
- The mighty Zommoros has slightly increased the drop rate on Legendary precursor weapons from the Mystic Forge from both Rares and Exotics.
- The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.
- The amount of loot that drops for downscaled players has been increased. You should now be able to receive level-equivalent loot until you are fighting at a downscaled level that is less than 2/3 of your actual level. You should also receive loot a greater percentage of the time as well as receiving a greater percentage of experience, gold, and karma. For level 80 characters, this means level 55+ areas will be able to drop level 80 gear and give about 75% or so of the other rewards. Previously, these areas would give level 77 gear at best and closer to 60% or so of your rewards.
This is from the November path notes. This is the most solid evidence for the entire issue. If this isn’t enough “data” I don’t know what is.
Seriously if Anet doesn’t do anything about it, this game is gonna have a bad time.
When I saw Legendary weapons being sold at TP I just laughed. The cash cow mentality had reached new heights!
So, now, you can get a Legendary weapon for being a legendary player or having a legendary wallet.
Haha this made my day. Nailed it.
As I was reading your posts guys I was like “ kitten Anet really messed the game up with the loot tables”. It was a beautiful game 2 months ago, what happened? All of you are now doing mats and calculations while playing a casino game instead of being out there in the world and having fun. Good job Anet. Keep it up. If no major changes soon I give this game 2 or so months till it breaks down on itself because of the TP. And I’m not the only one thinking the same.
Currently I don’t waste my time even playing. Everything is nerfed down “to the ground baby”, crazy ppl high as f walking in Orr grinding n sh.
Now I’m just waiting on some fixes with the drop rate. There are more games out there ya know.
Why why why why why why it has come to this?
I remember the days I couldn’t get sleep because there was a beta weekend coming.
On release day same thing, and the days after it. SUCH AN EXCITEMENT!
I did’t have that much thrill since I played my first mmorpg (MU Online) back in 2003!
And now all this is ruined because of this. I really don’t want to quit. I frikin` love this game and I don’t want to stop playing it. Anet give me back my thrill!
After all is said here, do you guys actually believe they will fix the drop rates this Friday? I think not so!
Just rolled another 100gswords after 1 week of farming (casual player here) in the mystic toilet and got 2 exotics only. So far I forged something between 1000-1300 greatswords – same s**t different day. Think I’m gonna delete this game…
Charged lodestones will probably be much more common when the crystal desert is opened. If you’re willing to wait a year, they’ll probably be as common as the previous tier.
I always assumed legendaries were supposed to take a year to complete. It’s something you can casually do until then next expansion, which will bring another legendary.
I think a well meshed team of 5 might beable to flip the Temple of Dwayna, in which case I’ll be able to at least try for the hair-ball-icious things at a time of MY choosing (spend 45 minute flipping it, 2 hours farming). But for a solo player like I am now… Ooof. Not appealing.
What’s with this “a year for a legendary” thing in your minds? I bet everything that if it was to take that much time you’d be throwing your PC through the window, ragequit etc..
Sounds like asian grinder to me…
1 hours ago or so me and a random guy grouped to farm some lodestones after we killed Dwayna. He went with some mf on him don’t know how much. But for me I was with 150+ magic find and for 2h and 30min farm all i got was 2 rares and 1 lodestone only. How encouraging to play this game!
98 to go!
When I tried to make a transfer at 5:30 a.m. in the morning I couldn’t because the server I wanted to go (my home server Gandara) was “Full”. And I can tell you this. From the beginning I play mostly at night and I can assure you the server IS NOT full at this hour -rather empty, dead, deserted – whatever you wanna call it.
This server status is a deception just to “keep the players playing” and not get the SWToR feel after few months after release.
Snowballs. A lot of snowballs, so I can throw it in people’s faces! And a carrot.
December 8th – issue still not addressed. Basically the OP is totally right! The patch notes says it all but the reality is opposite of what it should be.
Consider this. It’s December and this is the time for selling copies. If no major changes next week, any new GW2 self respecting MMO player would find out all the info for the current state of the game here at forums and won’t buy it. I won’t buy it. Pre-release some people said they would wait 2-3 months to see how the game goes before buying it. At this point I wish i did the same.
Heck even now my guildies and irl friends don’t play anymore because of this. All are waiting on the patch to check back in. And I feel that I’m turning into a mindless grind monster all over again. No thx. Currently I just log in for the dailies and that’s it.
Status mode: waiting…
ANet fix this!.
