Etien.4601

@Etien Don’t get me wrong, I’d much prefer to see a full expansion, but now that the living story content is starting to be good, I can see the argument for ‘incremental expansion’ in that method (especially if the releases start to come out even more frequently). It also has the benefit of not splitting the community in the open world, as everyone can access the maps.

However, this incremental expansion method comes with the caveat that, to make it worthwhile, Arenanet need to make sure they’re releasing enough content! If they current rate persists, we’d probably see 4-5 maps a year being added, along with the story. In that case I’d much rather see a big expansion every 18 months with a continent :P Plus they have to deal with the downside of not having a big ‘oh look at me!’ when releasing an expansion. Guild wars 2 has come on a long way since launch in many areas, but a lot of lapsed players don’t have the motivation to come back yet. Small and frequent updates are great… for the people already here! Others need a bigger push to bring them back.

I got your point no worries. I’m not voting for expansion either. Prior to Season 2 I wanted something more that’s for sure. And that’s because of reminisce from Season 1 I guess. But they really picked up the pace with Season 2 and fixed their errors. The key for me is new maps to explore, new things to do. Not just overhaul old content. We asked for it and they deliver. Now all we need is new skills, perhaps new weapons and a third heavy class. And ofc MORE maps.
If they keep the pace like this we don’t need xpac. The game is good that way.

@The Comfy Chair you are 100% right. But the fact that the BLTC gets bigger attention, and the recent NPE, etc shows the opposite. And that’s why we have so much doomsayers. Let’s say the revenue is correct or at leas approximate, to this day I’m trying to figure out what is driving these poor decisions and poor content we get most of the time. Like I said above f2p games with no box sales and no big publisher behind them recieve much more than we do. Why?

You know since Aion came out I still play it on a regular basis. It’s a fact that the game has stronger aspects that we lack here. It is more time consuming yes but it has a solid structure overall. I won’t mention content releases and how much bigger they are for a f2p game. The funny thing is that it sucked a lot while it was p2p.
And that being said, as much as I love GW2 the devs here can learn a lot of things from a low sale f2p game.

I don’t know that I’d say this is a good year for Anet. I think it’s been a turbulent year. I think that there are plenty of unfair comments on the forums but plenty of fair ones too. The game has made progress…and yes I’ve liked both new zones, but there’s plenty that requires attention that hasn’t received attention.

In short, I’m still enjoying the game, but just as I don’t really kow tow to the doom and gloom crowd, I don’t think it’s really fair to say this has been a good year for Anet.

I’m hoping next year will be a better year though.

If Anet can avoid some of the stumbles it’s made this year, next year might well be better.

You know I agree with everything you say.
For the guy above you well.. I play since bwe and as I agree with you too I must say I find lots of the problems mentioned and not being adressed as disturbing. I do want things to get done and fixed, don’t get me wrong. As owner of cyber caffe for 14 years yes this is my first game. No need to be an ahole.

I know it’s kinda early to say this but December is drawing near anyway.
I’m not sure how many patches are there till the end of the year. Perhaps 1 or 2 (without Wintersday)? I’m sure they’ll be as good as the last one, or Season 2 as a whole for that matter.
It turns out to be the best year so far for GW2. With EotM and 2 new areas to explore, the last one of which is going to get even bigger makes things even better. I’m impressed and at the same time proud of the work that’s been done so far – story and content wise. My time and cash was well spent.

Despite the problems with traits, NPE and condi dmg, me and my friends are well satisfied with the game this year. I can boldly say that 2013 was a struggle. But not this time.
The Marrionette was awesome and the battle for LA being the most hardcore gameplay (oh the great midnight offensive parties); up to Scarlet’s demise after so much hate – superb ending for S1
To the other side of Tyria into new territories and foes. S2 proved what S1 was supposed to be. Cheerz to that guy with the crazy pictures giving directions on how things should be done and to all others that gave suggestions for a better direction.
Season 2 is an example of the potential the game can provide. And the last patch pretty much nailed it. The new PvP system and all the cool QoL updates are good as well.

Obviously the communication with devs works most of the time Kudos to the team that listened to us.
All in all we wanted things. We got `em delivered. Some love for the FotM rewards will be much appreciated. Adding timers for the temples back would be nice too. Some new skills perhaps? I also see Marjory Delaqua wielding a GS now and she’s a necro..hmm. And so many other things..wanted.

I can talk on and on but i’ll keep this post short. Just keep up the pace and good work like this into 2015. I’m sure it’s going to be even more epic.
Now all I want for christmas is a rebuilt Lion’s Arch…maybe?..BRB going back ingame.

new Nomad gear at world boss events

Without a guardian by it’s side, an elementalist is a total failure nowadays imo. So your argument is invalid.

A normal zerker DPS traited Guardian’s Aegis is just as strong as whatever crazy “tank” Guardian’s Aegis… if that is what you were referring too. Support comes from skills (and traits), not from stats.

DPS traited guard is the worst class at the moment. It always has been. There is a huge CD for the aegis to refresh in a dps build and it saves you from 1 hit and that’s it. Then 80 seconds cd? Fail imo.
Let’s say you use “Shave yourselves” and you can place x2 Aegis in a row. Not recomended. I’ve seen so many failed guardian builds, sometimes I wonder if we play the same game or not lol.

Except Healing is not useful in PVE and the Ele in the group is already supplying longer lasting might. Using Empower would only overwrite the longer duration might. Staff auto is also pretty bad, unless you are mindlessly tagging mobs in cursed shore then its fine.

nah, I tried to calc around nomads, it just isn’t worth it.

Also, staff is garbage, the amount of dmg you’re not doing while casting it doesnt trade up the might stacks you hand out.

I use staff on my guardian pretty much all the time. In an out of dungeons. This weapon has the best output of HEALING and might with the right trait and gear. Skill 4 have fast CD and might is always welcome. Also the healing output is insane. The OP has issues with mobs from tequatl? Weird, he must be playing with lazy ppl slacking the dodge button.
For example, try my guardian Fractal 50 – Archdiver, fire seal in the mid. Never failed to loose a person to date.

RNG as a concept: Discuss

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Etien.4601

Etien.4601

1 and 2 would be very hard to implement I presume. Probably it will take ages for either of the 2 options to get in the game, so I vote no.
On the other hand the easiest and simple solution is 2.5 A token based system will allow everyone to benefit from it troughout normal gameplay. And this will encourage players to play even more. Cause they know the thing they are after is there, regardless of what time it would take to acquire. For instance Aion has such system. Hundreds of armor and weapon pieces, tools and whatnot available trough tokens AND normal drops of course. And it’s working great. Lots of encouragement to play even more.

Leave RNG as is maybe. I see a lot of people like to gamble. I myself am not a gambler, but that doesn’t keep me from buying gems for cool additions. The MF tho, now that’s a real pain. I was lucky to pull out 20+ precursors, but on the other hand I lost so much as well. I believe if you are persistant you will get lucky eventually. But there are days…

Loot and the lack thereof

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Etien.4601

Etien.4601

Instead of discussing it can we just fix it?

Sure, they can “just fix it”. Just like Trait Masteries. Or the Candy Corn overstock from ’12 to ’13. Or Borderlands Bloodlust. Or Tequatl.

There are places I used to like to go to just kill enemies because I could get tier 6 mats and those enemies do not drop items like before(trolls in Frostgorge, Plinx mobs, Grawl in Frostgorge). I understand why a lot of those mobs item drops were toned down 2 years ago(bots) but the bot issues are way less pronounced now and yet the drop rate has not been reset. Again, not addressed when it’s in the players advantage for such things to get fixed. At least that is what it feel like.

Well, I suspect if it was reset, the problems would come back slowly until it needed to be dealt with again. See, when there’s a “need” for people to farm something, they figure out how to do it.

One area which I used to hang out in a lot and just work on is still active and pretty nice . . . no I’m not saying where.

Honestly, my problem with loot nowadays is having not much interesting to do with 90% of it other than feed it into a salvage kit. Or sell it for a pittance to a merchant.

My point is that when something like an exploited quest gets farmed a lot it gets fixed fast. When its broken or bugged and has nothing to do with being over farmed, it goes ignored or it takes a long time. That’s the point. When I say, “can we just fix it?” I mean can we fix it in a time frame that is similar to the speedy fixes that exploited farms receive.

+239012009128109 times this. What Iason said. This exact thing makes me rage quit and and facepalm myself. Such ignorance makes me not buy gems. True story.
