I know that the conditions are not removed at 25% but they cant be applied at 25% hp.
It is immunity still and once they reach 25% hp they just cleanse the conditions they already have. With condition classes or specs, It is impossible to kill them if they just heal up and don’t attack you no matter how much condition duration you have.

As an engineer who runs automated response, I’m still evaluating whether it’s worth it because I personally haven’t noticed an instance where it has actually saved me from dying. [sarcasm]That being said, I intentionally keep my engineer below 25% health so that I’m indestructible against pure condi builds[/sarcasm].

Basically it is impossible to play casually with your friends on the same team for a complete game start to finish unless you play rated!
Which increases the odds of facing experienced premade groups in an environment that will punish you for being a new player.

But given the time I’ve spent in WvW without seeing a single PYRO/DARP roamer, I can say with certainty that they don’t exist. Either that, or those mythical roamers have been really successful in avoiding me.

Mags are runners, not roamers

I and two other PUG solo roamers happened to converge on the SE camp on Mag BL the other day. I saw a solo DuRP guarding the camp. And he fought with honor against the odds. He didn’t put up much of a fight, but what can you really do 1v3 if you don’t take them by surprise? So there’s at least one!

However that same day as I approached the south camp solo to try to take it, a solo DuRP there ran away. I think it was a warrior. Well he was solo roaming, but he just ran away even though he had the NPC advantage.

I have yet to see a PYRO in a group smaller than 5. Nothing to be ashamed of. Solo roaming may not be their preferred playstyle.

I stand corrected. Very impressive. You guys have a future in community organizing. I don’t think we have more than 15% VOIP participation during EU primetime and early NA.

120 races now, no skin. I think I own the world record.

Edit: I just threw the numbers into an online calculator, assuming 5% chance to get a skin (what others have guessed). There’s only a 0.2% chance of me not getting one in 120 tries. On the one hand, darn I’m unlucky. On the other hand, it’s not as ridiculous as I thought.

It’s not about the skin, it’s about beating the RNG. I already bought the one I wanted.

91 races for me so far. No skins. One person last night told me he got his first skin on his 107th race. Getting a skin, any skin, is now a mini-game in itself for me. The race itself is no longer challenging. I want to beat the RNG.

If you hate dying, I’d say roll a thief and learn not to overextend. Camps also seem to go down faster. But I roam with an engineer because I like how it plays, and I like the possibility of getting into a 1v1 where I have to commit. I still lose most 1v1s (see sig) but hey, how else do I get better?

It’s not about getting the skin anymore. It’s about winning it!

Well that’s 75 now, no skin. I continued to run as a matter of principle hoping to win a skin. I was 1st in 19 of my last 20 races (though I let someone else win) so it’s not really even challenging anymore. I think I’m just gonna have to give up. You win this round, ANet RNG.

JaNordy, that was difficult to read, man, both from a block of text perspective, and from a man his spelling sucks perspective.

Personally I think mags is better open field than DB is. Our server has yet to learn the concept of wave wiping (that’s what I call it). And our PUGs have no good idea what stacking is or what it’s good for. Once DB gets into an open field fight with near even numbers, we all spread out and get picked off. I wish my fellow DB commanders had some ideas for how to get better in these kinds of fights other than the go-to someone else’s problem response “Get in TS!”. No offense to commanders, I’m sure it’s difficult. But other servers manage to do it, and I’m sure not all of them are in TS.

Taking advantage of it requires understanding the mechanics of the game. Then again so does using Aspect Master. And figuring out which crystals are fake and which are real. I think it’s intended. I sincerely doubt that the person who designed the map layout and the person who placed the power-ups didn’t work together. Besides it’s easy to save up a power-up from before that section of the race.

So I say, if they didn’t want people to eventually learn to jump up there, they would have made the cliff steeper. Or they would have patched something by now.

Don’t worry, we all know and appreciate what our SEA does for us. We certainly don’t need outsiders to tell us. A server’s performance in the matchup is based upon the contributions in all time slots. Even during weakest times, the ability to defend or create havoc helps even a little.

The people who are getting under your skin are just trolling for the LOLs. Nobody is truly serious about being the greatest thing since pumpernickel bread.

Shatterstorm doesn’t do push-ups. He does earth-downs.

Sure hope nobody is legitimately getting angry here. The trolling is very pervasive, but it’s just trolling for trolling’s sake. No real content in most of it.

Wow, some of you people are just lucky. Mined it 3 times now and each time, 3x Quartz Crystal.

a) 1.5 seconds for four skills. The above screenshot is probably longer than that
b) when a human is expecting something, they can respond in .1 seconds. In my case it’s more like .3 seconds. When a human is not expecting something reaction time can be up to a second, and if the response is not instictual it will take at least another second to figure out what to do. That’s too much time.
c) yeah right. Sure in a duel the engineer has the upper hand. But the element of surprise is what makes the thief so difficult to manage for a lot of folks. I’m still not sure about S/D thieves yet. Only encountered a few of those, and they dazed me to death.

I’ve been doing pretty well against D/P thieves lately, but once in a while one still takes me by surprise. That’s right, I said surprise. My finger hovers over my stun-breaker button while roaming most of the time. It’s usually when I’m being lazy or overconfident that the thief actually wins. My builds either use elixir S or slick shoes for stun breakers.

My other bunker small group spec doesn’t have a stun breaker but can soak up the damage until I get gear shield up. Then I lay down the CCs until I can get away. But that only works about 50% of the time because they can usually infiltrator’s strike back to me, or steal. There’s a reason I don’t typically solo roam with that spec.

/me shakes fist at Mag D/P thief who got four lucky crits in a row to insta-down my tankish engineer. 11k backstab against 2400 armor ain’t right man, just ain’t right.

Yeah 7/10 is about right for me too. I’m sure it’s a pathing issue, and it’s probably also intended, forcing us to be more aware of positioning and the terrain involved. FWIW I would love the stun idea but could you imagine the screams of “NERF” if it happened!?!

Personally, if I get to the finish line first, I’ve won. I don’t need to cross it to prove to the other 11 players that I’m super awesome. I’m fine handing 1st place to someone because 2nd is a pretty good accomplishment too, and it doesn’t hurt my ego to see my name in 2nd place if I know I’ve done it intentionally. Now if the 2nd place player happens to be someone I recognize as having already won, I’m gonna cross that finish line first cause that’s 2 extra silver.

Edit: On a less snarky note, with the exception of the first week against AR and BP, Ebay has in fact had the greatest positive rating change in all its matches. So perhaps genuine congratulations are in order. Though one could easily blame the problems with the old system for holding them down in the rankings, and this streak is really just correction.

You are missing some context here. This morning DB had several people ganking TC and EB going for the kite. As I understand it, someone from TC started it. An unofficial truce was thus broken, and there was a flurry of activity on the matchup thread. But as one wise person said (paraphrased) you can’t blame someone for PvP’ing in a PvP zone.

Also I have 18 of 16 acheivements done, and I still have a few jumping puzzles I haven’t done yet, also the drinking game. What I’m saying is that this kite is not necessary for getting 16/16.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but all you need to know are the inscription, the insignia, and the jewel. From there you discover the actual armor/weapon/trinket recipe, right?

And if that’s true, you only need to buy 3 from the TP, and last I checked they’re pretty cheap.

My goodness I ran 25 races and got zero catcher skins and two rares. Good thing I don’t really care for the look of any of them.

Not sure who your audience is with this post. Top level engineers? Because below the top levels I’ve heard of lots of success with burst rifle builds, knock-back/control builds, And even in the recent N.M.C.C. 1v1 tournament (whatever that was), Lady Steamhawke won in the finals against a S/D thief using nothing but turret utilities! Don’t forget the NA Profession tournament (forgot who does this), where the engi’s won using specs that featured bombs.

Oh man, now I have to suffer through posts about cuddling kittens with lots of hearts, and a bunch of guys who can’t control their horomones at the thought of a female gamer.

Also, since things are now coming back full-circle, do you think we could get Krew back?

Look, unknown TC mesmer on DBBL, I know solo roaming can be hard, but Alt-F4’ing is not going to stop us from getting a bag. Yeah it was 1v3. Tough cookies! (I know how much you guys like cookies). Just die with honor!

I was 6 of 7 on this and unsure what to do. Then I made sure to use the skills while someone was within range. Viola! Achievement achieved. Not too hard folks.

This mini-game is actually pretty deep. At first you just focus on using 1-3 correctly. Then you learn how to use 4-0 to mess up your competitors. Then you learn how to defend against and mitigate the abilities used by your competitors. Then you learn how to make good use of crystals and power-ups. And by the time you’ve come close to completing your 25th game for the achievement, you can actually tell which crystals are fake and which are real. The last 5 of those 25 rounds I was 1st or 2nd by a long shot every time, despite the bugs and issues you described.
