I disagree completely if anything dodge is UNDERPOWERED. Why can we only dodge 2 times??? If I can spam 1 1 1 1 1 1, I should be able to spam dodge dodge dodge. Nerf dodge and I quit the game.

TL:DR – remove vigor and remove the endurance bar. L2P and predict dodges like a man

Pretty much all professions need to sacrifice an utility slot or spec for it if they want condition removal. I personally like the remove a condition when you heal trait on inspiration adept trait line. Not hard to spec into since it’s in adept and it doesn’t take away an important utility slot. Both nullfield and mantra of resolve are great condition removals. I never had issues or struggled with condition removal anyway.

I guess I’m more looking at it from a PvP perspective and if you look at other classes, it’s not really a “sacrifice”. I’m not gonna name every class and list their condition removal skills but there’s A LOT more synergy with their traits and utilities when compared against typical mesmer builds (for pvp). Specing for condition removal is too heavy of an investment as a mesmer imo relative to other classes.

Taking your heal trait for example – we HAVE to trait for that condition removal whilst every other class has some form of condition removal on their stock heal.

I’m not sure if you’ve played other classes but you’ll realise that mesmers have it real hard when it comes to condition removal and swiftness.

Confusion/Condition, because:
- it works
- it’s funny / fun
- it has some AoE
- the damage is consisitent (does not rely on a burst)
- it works both offensively and defensively
- it has great survivability

WvW perspective (I don’t PvE sorry):
This was mainly due to a lot of build experimenting. Now I really only use Rabid. A mix of Bezerker/Knight/Cavalier come out when I get bored. Carrion sits in the bank.

Finding “a team” isn’t really a reasonable option. 95% of the teams you’re playing against are probably a loose collection of people who met in a free tourney a few months ago and added each other to contacts.

Your best option is probably to do the same thing. Keep solo queueing, and whenever you get a teammate who knows what he’s doing, ask if you can add him to your friends list. They’ll say yes because they’re looking for the same thing. It takes some time but eventually you’ll have a deep enough pool of contacts to form at least partial teams most times you play.

^ What he said. I’ve recently started tournaments again and as long as you know what you’re doing, it’s quite easy to form a team or a list of players you can play as a team with.

What I usually do/did was solo queue and if I had a good team and we won, I’d right click their name on the scoreboard and add them to party (you don’t have to add them all, just the players you think were good). When the game ends and they’re back to the heart of the mist, people would usually accept the party invite (assuming they didn’t think you were bad) and then you’d play the next few games together. If things go well, ta-da you have some new friends!

Whether you take that to the next level and begin voice-comm-ing or what not is up to you

your build is fine for sPvP/hotjoin if you can react quickly enough and not get popped by other glass canons.

Not so much for WvW if you’re running ikittenerg
Not so much if you’re WvW roaming since this build will not be able to 1 v 2+ against decent players.

Definitely not for tPvP.

Confounding Suggestions trait: Reduced the frequency of stunning targets when Diversion is used from 100% of the time to 50%.

Does this mean diversion (before the patch) always stunned the targets with this trait?

I also run 0/25/25/0/20 sometimes and play around with the traits. Overall, your build as a condition/confusion mesmber will work as long as you maintain the core components of the build which are:
- a constantly supply of clones/phantasm for shattering/dying
- selecting the right utilities/weapons for escaping and being able to manage its cd’s effectively
- decent condition damage
- decent crit chance for bleed/vigor procs

True, but the downside would be, it assumes your a premade team and you will go against a premade team. And a random team vs premade team you chances of winning aren’t very good.

Though I don’t think that premade/pug group mechanic is working… not in my experience at least.

Well the thing is, people in JP aren’t really there to PvP… they are usually in PvE spec or “JP” spec if they have one. Sure you’ll have fun but unfortunately it won’t be impressive as you stated.

You had a 2nd mesmer here so why not take him/her with you to WvW and roam? Plenty of people do it and get great vids out of it. Sure you might get zerged here and there but if you go to the right spots, there’s alot of smalls scale action too. Take a look at Osicat’s or Seven’s, something like that will get you “hits” and “impress” people.

Just a thought… have you tried this rotation instead?

1. Cast curtain
2. Cast warden
3. Half way through the warden cast, close curtain
4. Leap and continue the rest of your combo

This way, the warden will spawn on top of your opponent whilst he’s knocked down. You then lock him in this position with leap and you end up getting the full spin out of your warden from start to end before you shatter. This is what I usually do but I have a different play style though so up to you

- Although the manipulation CD only affects blink, blink is your best escaping tool. Having its CD reduced by 6cd’s helps me to rotate my escaping skills which include prestige, decoy, mass invis, phase retreating and even dodging.

- People staying at range don’t really bother me. I have blink to close gaps, decoy / invis to run up to them whilst avoiding damage and both my auto attacks are ranged. However, people who want to run will have a good chance to get away – the only thing I can do is really blink and chaos storm and hope for a chill/cripple.

Common causes of death:
- Outnumbered / Culled zerg
- Fighting condition heavy players. 1 on 1 is okay. 2 v 1 with 1 condition guy will give me a very hard time (especially good staff/sceptre necros) and often I will be focusing that person first. If I roam and I die a lot to conditions on a certain day, I would often swap signet of inspiration for arcane thievery (which also has its CD lowered due to manipulation trait)
- Not managing my skill CD properly or being forced to use them up

@Osif – Yeh I do still use it though like with most sigils, you never really rely on it. It’s only there to support you. I might switch the sigil out for something else, haven’t decided if I like sigil of fire yet…

Build Change

I’ve swapped my corruption on staff for sigil of fire to get a bit of “aoe”. When I solo, I die quite a bit so it was rare for me to get 25 stacks for long periods of time. In groups however, it was a different case – maybe I might get 2 staves…?

The alternative is sigil of earth which I’ve tested also. It all comes down to preference… aoe vs single target. 30% proc vs 60% proc. Short duration burn vs long duration bleed. Both are viable

Edit: Fail. Sigil of fire does not do an aoe burn…

Just take note that if you do it within the “clone spawning” range, a clone will spawn and attack your target which will put you into combat and slow you down.

Otherwise, about face, phase retreat, about face works best. I’m still practising that – problem is if you screw up, it ends up being slower. Given that I’m from Australia, my ping also makes the process a bit harder/slower and thus the benefit is only marginal

In regards to in-game sound effects, I like to play music when I play and that also gets recorded when I’m recording. This means I can’t put another song on top when I edit…

If there’s an easy solution to this let me know and I’ll try
(using a second device for music is not an option!)
