took me two tries to solo it for all the achievements on a thief, so I guess I’d say solo is easier
And GL with high lvl Fractals or Arah EXP in beserker Gear lol.
Actually in Fractals 60+ everything downs you regardless of how much toughness and vit you have, something that actually makes Berseker gear more useful.
If I ever buy it (maybe next week, since I want to buy a toon slot first), I’ll probably buy it for the skin and nice animation, certainly not because it’s permanent. You’re looking at it from the wrong direction. Don’t look at it like an unlimited pick with the nice perk of a skin. Look at it like a really nice skin, with the perk of being unlimited.
I also think it’s too easy at the moment. But I do appreciate that by runing CoF p1 and p2 daily on all 4 toons I have, allowed me to deck my mes in exotics, get a second (and currently working on a third p/v/c set) for my thief. Once I get all the gear I need, I don’t think I’ll keep running it that much.
The main problem is that it’s too profitable. You get exo gear/or rares (ectos) and you get 1gold per path. It’s a win win situation. But from my experience only a small portion of players only do that. So I don’t see a major problem with it.
By a fix, I don’t mean to make it longer, just make it impossible to do with only a zerker party.
You should divide the stuff in PvE and PvP/WwW
What’s wrong with Last Refuge?
I like how traps are now. If they’re visible (even the slightest bit) they won’t be effective anymore. Well actually they’re not effective now either.
I agree about axe and gs damage reduced (in PvE)
Gs war might on crit reduced to 33% (In PvE). I love this.
Quickness is fine at 50%. And I wouldn’t mind the penalties being halved if it’s only in PvE. But still, it would make it kind of OP.
ANet in the past patches, has constantly buffed in some way the Warrior in PvE. So, ok we got it, wars get all the love for PvE, you adore the class. Now, how about you bring the other classes on par, or at least closer?
Even your post states it. It’s all about thief (which I personally think suffers a lot lately in PvE), war(PvE god) and a bit of mes( has not real problems in PvE, due to medium health, and lots of survivability).
Here is a tip for the community: Don’t join guild dungeon groups unless it is your own. If you accidentally did join one, you better leave as soon as possible. The reward is the same as joining a full pug group but the risk is higher.
Or you could still join them.
You give 3 examples of bad runs and with that you completely trash guild runs. It’s like saying never enter a coffee shop because the 3 I’ve been to so far were terrible.
Good luck with that.

I’m using a Naga Molte Special Edition. (I’ll use my ele as an example)
Scroll click – first atunement
Mouse button 4 – second atunement
Mouse button 5 – third atunement
(I’m talking about the two small buttons immediately next to the left click button)
1-10 side buttons are for skills
11th side button is for dodge ( but I hardly ever use it because I simply use the default V button more)
12th side button is for the 4th atunement
(edited by Fasalina.6571)
I’m also interested in running Arah mostly for DM and then probably for token runs.
I already ran p3 and p2 a few times. I’m still missing p1 and p4
Characters:Fasalina/Cherubic Silvia. Thief/Guardian
Gear: All exo/ascended. Valkyrie armor with zerker trinkets and weapons on thief. Tanky with some dps on guardian.
I’m GMT+1 and online for a few hours every evening.
Add me up!
You spend all this money on keys, hell dam near $60 now, and all you get is this stuff with no use. What are we suppose to do with it? Why all the gambling? I might as well just flush $60 down the toilet at this point, I feel like a fool. Most of the other stuff you get from buying keys for Black Lion Chest are guild karma or something just completely useless. But the rest of this stuff has absolutely no use.
Like really what use is it?
Ah I see, you weren’t here doing Halloween. People opened hundreds of chests for the skins and didn’t get anything
Skins from BLC chests are a GOD mode of RNG. Many, many players learned their lesson at that time.
Dhumm is currently in vacation it seems. Haven’t see “live bans” so far. I hope we’ll see them in the future
It’s the other way around with most groups I run in, once in a blue moon do people skip Kholer. He has gotten significantly easier, deal w/ the adds as soon as they pop up, (usual P2 kill order) and then back on Kholer.
If this is true, then great job, I haven’t ran a pug in ages.
What about the people that want to do speed clears? Forcing people to fight Kholer doesn’t seem optimal. Leaving it up to choice allows a group to fight him if they want, or skip him if they want. If you are in a PUG group, discuss it before you go into the dungeon. It isn’t a failure on Anet’s part if people skip Kholer and the encounter is designed to where that is able to happen. If it’s a failure on anyone’s part, it’s due to lack of communication or not taking initiative to lay out what you are going to do before the dungeon starts.
Yes, that’s a way of seeing things.
But I see it as an Anet failure in this case.
Content should not be skipped. The possibility should not exist. Speed clears are an abomination, and in my view it’s ruining the game. In my view a speed clear is when all the team members are so good at playing their class and coordinate in such a fashion that can clear a 40 minute dungeon in 20 minutes without skipping anything. If stuff can be skipped, then why did people work on designing it. Choices are fun yes, but there are well implemented choices, and bad implemented choices. If the ability to “speed clear” , as you call it, wasn’t there from the start, people would not kitten so much about it..
“but, but, but, I want my rewards by doing almost nothing. I want to play with only one hand and watch some tv, and still get all my rewards”. You want your shiny stuff? Then do (fun) stuff for it. (obviously revamping trash mobs is included in my statements)
Seems that Anet saw that, sometimes a party or two would kill Kholer for the waypoint and for the 15s it gives, and they fixed it. Now, no one except the occasional, one in a million strange guild party does.
Poor boss mechanics, poor boss mechanics everywhere. But then again, when I want that epic boss fight, where you have to solve puzzles and/or activate traps to kill a boss, I just play a single player game, or Monster Hunter 2G on the PSP
You want to make Kholer interesting? Here’s how you have to do it.
-Kholer now is unskippable.
-Kholer spawns invulnerable adds at 75% 50% and 25%. The adds can only be killed by hitting them with an Ancient Ascalonian Hammer. The hammers are situated in the archives after the “fire corridor”. 1 hit banishes the ghost.
2 or 3 players hold aggro and “deal with Kholer” the other 2 go get the hammers.
FUN
Do we have to do everything in this game?
And if we have to do it, then give us the possibility to do it. Let us make dungeons.
(edited by Fasalina.6571)
I don’t see the need for mounts with so many wps everywhere.
Mounts don’t give any speed buffs, and can’t attack
Mounts consume “grass”, 50 grass per hour (even while logged off)I agree that the game does not need mounts. It doesn’t fit with the game and with the WP’s, doesn’t make sense. It would look ridiculous for people to be running around LA on mounts.
If they ever add any type of mount, yes it should not give any speed buff, should be pure cosmetic but the idea of food is good!
If the mount had to eat food, maybe those of us could cook more variety of foods that would actually sell for more than 1c. Cooking only omnomberry bars and the occasional ice cream or pie is very boring for such a well thought out and detailed craft.
Yup that works quite well. I don’t know why I haven’t thought about using food we make, or normal vegetables we gather.
Was waiting for this thread the moment I saw “riding” in some item’s names.
I don’t see the need for mounts with so many wps everywhere.
If they do implement mounts they should be another gold sink.

100 grass is 1 gold.
Have fun with your mount!
Oooooh another discussion about how kids become violent because of video games. The game is already rated (T, so that makes it 13+?). If you think your kid isn’t intelligent enough to distinguish between what is acceptable and what is not then don’t let him play
Seems the economy is calming down a bit. I like the new prices. Hope they stay like that
Apparently you can get them form Guild Missions too, BUT they will take approximately the same amount of time…
They really need to back off the laurel/time limited currency.
It takes 1 week for the one time unlock, and 1 week to get the tokens for 1 piece, so it’s roughly 2-3 pieces per month. It doesn’t even go close the op’s 16 months.
And… if you were able to get all the stuff on all your chars in just 2 weeks. Then you’d complain you have nothing to do…
Bah
The added some new wps for the guild missions stuff. The wiki will be updated soon I guess.
currently at 100Mb and still 8300 files to go. Big patch
Also:
“Increased the stat bonuses on Ascended all-stat items.”
Don’t forget about this little innocuous part here:
“Increased the stat bonuses on Ascended all-stat items.”
As far as I see it, the gap is getting bigger and bigger.
Well as far as I see it, you can also get the accessories with the new guild missions stuff, and you only need 12 tokens and 5 gold per piece, which is a lot less than 50 ectos. I only hope that all the stat variation will be available to get through both methods. I don’t think I’ll put 40 laurels and 50 ectos just for a piece, imo it’s too much for a price.
I think that it’s just another way to get them, unpractical, but still a different way. Just look how you can get a ring with just 10 fractal dailies while it costs 25 laurels from the vendor.
No. (imo)
A bit of input.
I have an 80 thief wearing Valkyrie Armour with runes of Vampirism. Trinkets are all zerk, weapons (daggers) are also zerk. I am not traited as glass canon (15 trickery, 20 in vitality, and I can’t remember the rest, should be something like 20 in precision and the rest in power). Normal attack is 700 – 9xx. I crit for around 5k.
So yes, you can do a lot better than that. With thieves and with any class for that matter, it’s fundamental to try stuff out and see how much power and critical chance and critical damage you can get by without being dead 50% of the time. Experiment more!
The mists gives you free armor and weapons and you can retrait as much as you want. Use the golems for the numbers. Once you find something nice (don’t directly go into glass canon), buy some rares and see how you do in dungeons and tweak your build.
EDIT: It could be faster if you could just post your build.
Use this:

Also this topic should go on the thieves sub forum, you’ll get a lot more help there.

Alpha in CoE used to give me that adrenaline rush that you’re talking about. Not anymore though. T.T
As long as RNG isn’t a factor, I’m ok with anything they do. (Might have to throw in the no P2W factor as well)
This is why:
Some stats at the end might be nice too, I would love to know who had the biggest hit and how much.
Player A: How much did you guys hit for, care to link?
Player B: random number
Player A: Lol noob are you only wearing rares? kick/blockUmmm…. Hmmmm not really. While braggarts are the norm in dungeons actually having a figure in front of you showing your performance in an area relative to another player is still useful. Player A sounds like a dick who wouldn’t even party with a noob to start with even w/o actual numbers demonstrating effectiveness at the end.
By the same token:
Player A: Wow player b did 15k with a critical hit?
Player B: yeah I [list of items] with maintenance oil and truffle steak
Player A: wow I’m going to farm those runes and had no idea huntsman could produce a buff that gives you +100 precisionI mean the fact that a negative use of the awards exist doesn’t guanrtee negativity in all cases.
Player A: wow you healed 50000 hp and protected me for over 20000 hits?
Player B: yeah I am primarily healing power [links to gear]
Player A: I’m adding you as a friend, let’s do Twilight Arbor together next week.Showing the results of each player in a quantifiable way can produce positive results, while also making the contributions of support and disable players more apparent.
In regards to your link that happened with out tangible dungeon statistics.
I trully undersand what you mean, and trust me I’m one of those “wow I’m going to farm those runes and had no idea huntsman could produce a buff that gives you +100 precision” guys.
But the problem is that’s an utopia. As far as I’ve seen it, and I’ve seen lots because I only used to pug till some time ago (mind you I still pug a lot but not as much as i used to), the community in this game is made roughly by 60% of “kitten” as you called em. And I’m afraid that a tool like this will only create more. Imo, the risk is there and it’s greater than the reward.
This is why:

People are so sensitive these days. We got bad tool tips, profession bugs, hackers, bots, glitches, exploits, and a lot more. And you worry about an unusually high scream? jesus (rollseyes)
EDIT: that is the typical sound that a girl makes when she wakes up and stretches. It’s only sexual if you give it that connotation.

While the intention is fine, sadly it will only create mindless elitism.
So no.
Time challenge sounds fun though.
P.S. Next time use the search function. Plenty of threads like these
Your ideas are awful. I’d rather be forced to get 5 Precursors than have to play more WvW beyond the 500 Badges to get my Legendary or be forced to get a Commander scout badge that I’d hate to have attached to my character. Not to mention the requirement you listed more or less remove the hardest parts of the grind making Legendaries much more approachable and not nearly as rare and legendary.
This is not a korean mmorpg, where grind is at the base of everything (and ANet keeps saying they don’t like it either). We don’t want to mindless grind like a robot for weeks/months.
Anet could always decide that all the above requirments are just to get the precursor and not the legendary. Thus you need all the above stuff for your precrusor, then you’ll need the other gifts that are currently present. I think this would be the best actually.
You get the precursor just by playing the game and all it’s aspects. THEN you start racking up the materials to upgrade your precursor into a Legendary.
It really isn’t about the item, it’s more about the trip to get there.
WvW is part of PvE somehow. You lvl up in PvE, get max weapons then you go in WvW. Map completion requires WvW
Did u know that to get wvwvw achieve u need alot of kills, yakslaper 1.000.000 dolyaks kills, Realm Defender 2.500.000 Supply used, some of the other achievement we don’t even know how many caps we need, so the 5 wvwvw achievements is not a good idea, the other thing time 300-500 hour of playing, so u want make legendaries for ppl who play all day. 5k achievement point, (achievement * item?), holding SM for 3 day hahaha yeah come to T1 and try to do that.
300 500 hours of play aren’t much really. You’ll get 300 hours just by playing the game and completing all the other requirments

Funny how people still think the boss in CoE is glitching, when he’s not.
In case you didn’t know…
If you kill enough alpha’s essences, after a certain point the boss will go in cooldown. Cooldown as in he won’t move and he won’t attack at all. If you stop killing essences he’ll start moving/attacking again.
Alas after the HP cut, you won’t see him go in cooldown much if you’re running pugs that: 1. lack coordination and 2. don’t know about the feature.Umm was not referencing that as glitching. That’s how I think is best way to kill him too. I’m talking about going in one path killing everything, then walking thru the walls to the end of the other 2 paths w/o resetting to get all 3 path clears w/o actually doing all three path clears…..which is why I said 3 in 1……..not sure why you thought i meant Subject Alpha stacking……I really hope they fix that glitch soon “most efficient” does not always mean “the right way” to do something.
Yeah I’m sure you didn’t mean that, “cough”
I’ve noticed that Subject Alpha in the final boss fights just loves to glitch. Almost like…at least once every 3 paths…sometimes two times even every 3 paths, he’ll glitch and do nothing.
“cough”
EDIT: Fixed the misquote

We just stack and atk the boss, while I myself will use Dancing Dagger whenever the Essences appears. But honestly he glitches at like 2/3 hp, meaning we haven’t actually seen many Essences…and he does this until he dies. I guess I’ve been lucky all this time. Well from now on I will use this feature as much as possible then…making him even more trivially easy…
Yeah it sometimes happens that you kill the essences while you use AoEs on the boss without realizing it.
Me as a Thief I usually immobilize and kill at least one every time he spits em.
I have never calculated how many you need to kill to be able to put him in cooldown, but it should be less than 5.
Lets put it this way then. As long as you only need to “try it out for a bit” it’s great. I guess a rank 10 minimum would be enough.
+1
Spvp is there so that everyone will eventually experience it AGAIN this is an alternative you could always just do the original way!
be that as it may You cannot be a Legend if you simply do not want to do some things!
Yes, I’m more like 50/50 with this, and I’ll tell you why. If I’d ever get a legendary that required sPvP I’d like to have the skin there too. The thing about sPvP is that one can virtually enjoy all content in PvE without ever going to sPvP.
IF you can bring you legendary in WvW, and it also required x badges or something else WvW related, you should be able to bring it in sPvP as well since it would be unfair. IE: “Why should I be forced to sPvP when I can’t even show off my legendary in it”
Again I’m not saying I don’t want to do something, it’s more like, I’ll do this because it’s needed to get this item and then I’ll be able to use the item here too".
I agree with everything but 2 points, (I also posted something like this in a different thread)
1 sPvP – unless you’d also get the skin unlocked somehow in sPvP this should not be here.
2. Commander (no). Just put a requirement like 500 or 1000 or even 2000 badges. (People will either farm the puzzle for a lot (boring and tedious but acceptable) or actually help his server and finish faster.)
You do realize that the “ring” can be considered a legendary ring/weapon right?
Maybe I should point out that it was me who initially brought the “ring” to the thread to use as an example of a legendary item looted from a random mob in a random location during a quest completely unrelated to the ring. A rather good example of the current GW2 system translated to LotR world.
I am glad you agree that it is a legendary item.
Yes and since we both agree that the ring can be considered legendary, why are you still saying that the way to obtain a legendary is ok as it is? And you continuously scrap all the other good suggestions on how to get a legendary?
Why do people see RNG only as the best? Why can’t someone invest 100 hours and be sure that after that total amount of time they’ll get what they worked for?
Do you think Sauron relied on RNG when he crafted it?
Edit: I’m sure you know that the ring was crafted and it wasn’t just “there” and Sauron found it.
And about the legendary.
- best in slot forever (stats maxed to ascended, and whatever comes after, if it will ever happen. Level increased in case of a cap increase)
- account bound not soulbound.Legendaries are Best in Slot forever. This, at least, has been confirmed a couple times. If anything is ever added that has a higher power, level or rating or whatever all Legendaries will automatically be inceased to that new value.
Account Bound rather than Bind on Equip.
Yes but they didn’t specifically say they’ll boost a Legendary’s level in case of a lvl cap increase. (This is also because the best in slot statement was before they started talking about an increase in max lvl)
Since we’re talking about a legendary and not exotics, it seems common sense that they’ll also increase the level. BUT, you never know.
EDIT: And yes thanks for correcting me there, that’s what I meant. Account Bound not Bind on equip.
(edited by Fasalina.6571)
I’ll tell you what would make legendary a “legendary”.
- dungeon master and what it implies and maybe even dunno 50 points in hobby dungeon explorer?
-personal story done
- at least 10/20/30 heck even 40 or 50 achievements maxed, or you could change it and put in minimum 5000 achievement points (these could even be detracted as a result)
-500 badges (not counting the ones for the gift) heck even 1000 or 2000 wouldn’t be bad
- the current gifts as they are, are perfectly fine.
And about the legendary.
- best in slot forever (stats maxed to ascended, and whatever comes after, if it will ever happen. Level increased in case of a cap increase)
- account bound not soulbound.
That’s what I call a legendary. It should be something that you can see as a fixed point towards you are going.
Current legendary?
You go to the mall and buy a pair of shoes. When you get home you open the box and you get lemons.
(edited by Fasalina.6571)
Wait wait wait… So, lets throw the entire BLTC into a garbage bin?
You can’t do anything that radical with the costliest items in the game, the economy would take a major hit. There would be players leaving the game, some might even riot at Wall St.
What is even worse: “of your choice”! C’moon, this is just asking to make the game easier for ya. It’d completely ruin the Legendary part of Legendaries. So finding a precursor from a random mob/chest can define something as legendary, but conpketing the story and defeating an Elder Dragon isn’t? Makes perfect sense.
If you think about it: If everyone has it, is it Legendary anymore? No, its just a cool weapon with an effect that tells people around “yeah, I did the storyline quests”
How about this: The one ring to rule them all, you’re saying it wasn’t a legendary item, just because it was looted from a random mob inside a mountain? (And not after fighting some big bad end boss after a long journey. Just a random mob as a sidestop on a longer journey. And nobody even fought the mob, the ring was found on the ground.) Did anyone get any legendary items by defeating Sauron? I do not think so..
You do realize that the “ring” can be considered a legendary ring/weapon right?

POTATOES! Also cabbage!
+1 to fishing.
Alas this game doesn’t have the best looking water in all mmos anymore (take a look at ArchAge). Also while you’re at it, you could grab some nice “housing” ideas from that game.
Useless, everyone and his/her mother knows that. If you want to use laurels to get some cash there are more profitable ways to do it. Heck even the mining utensils allow you to get more cash than that. Sure it’s immediate, little, liquid cash. But any smart player wouldn’t follow this.
If you really want to waste your laurels like that, buy the laureate coin booster and farm ac for the duration of it. You’ll probably get at least 4/5 gold in 30 minutes if you add an omnom bar with a farming group/it’ll take more if it’s a normal one (by farming group I mean either an 80 exo party or non 80 players that know the dungeon)
As far as I see it you’re trying to use the Guild Wars community to rack up some views on your profile.
But that’s just how I see it.
If you honestly think this is a good guide, then gratz. Really, I mean it.
halloween event anyone?
You’re just lucky. I am currently at 60 clovers and farming for more ectos. I tried it 20 times at the moment. T6 mats are useful but you should be happy you got most of your clovers done. I suggest going for the 1 clover recipe now.
Dear necromancer wannabes, this thread is 5 months old.
HS isn’t half of what it was 5 months ago.
LOL! I didn’t notice it was that old!
