English is my third language, but I don’t see the problem here. I’d understand if we were talking about poor countries with little or no decent free education, but if you live in central Europe and don’t speak English, it’s your own fault. If you want to get involved in international business, don’t expect everyone else to learn your language.

GW2 is a superior game to almost every MMO in the western industry atm and Wildstar/ESO are both average ones. People would like WS/ESO for a fresh experience however neither bring anything major to the industry.

Is this sarcasm?

No, these are facts

If by superior, you mean a grindy game with shallow combat and content that is so unrewarding that it’s simply easier to play the TP, then you’re right.

No I mean the game that you don’t now how to play ending up grinding because you are used to the hardcore content games with no combat offered, calling hard-core gear raiding for for content with people getting kicked out from parties and guilds because they aren’t special enough.

The games I play have combat that extend beyond roleplaying a zergling and spamming one or exploiting AI by stacking in a corner.

Standing there calculating skill timers isn’t called combat though.

Neither stacking in a corner spamming all your skills is though

Taking the flawed dungeon system and generalizing just make you seem uneducated. The WvW and sPvP have enough combat-mechanic possiblites to statisfy an MMORPG gamer who have, for years, played games where skills gets calculated instead of used. If you actually stack in a zerg for sPvP and WvW and still win, it just means the people playing agaist you are bad, not that you are good.

When a group of 10 people attack a whole zerg destorying it, people call them lucky. But when a zerg destorys another, that’s it the game is dead.

We were talking about pve dungeons so I don’t think someone can call me rude for that… You speak about the WvW and sPvP granting you the doubt of possibility (which I shouldn’t because at the moment sPvP is unbalanced and WvW is a zerg fest) I play MMORPGs for the pve not for the PvP experience if I want PvP I either go play CS or a random moba(you pick one) where balance is the most precious thing.
EDIT: Also are we talking about the same game here? Because so far GW2 in 1 and a half year has only one game mode for sPvP, they took 1 year and a half to actually reward the spvp players in some way. And WvW? it’s either ZvZ or random condi/bunker builds that can run way once they see they’re losing (I’m one of those). Honestly tho I loved the game for a year, I got 4 lvl 80, 2 world completion and somehow I manged to make a legendary. Tried spvp for a bit, but it got boring with the same maps and same objectives/builds. It was an awsome ride and I stayed along to see if they change something, I’ll give them one more chance for April and the new LS, but that’s the final straw.
PvE doesn’t require any sort of intelligent play or skill (except maybe 4/5 occasions in 1 year)
Spvp bunkerbuilds or instagib with 3 capture points in 1 year and a half
WvW is pretty much a ZvZ
And all of this without actually mentioning how many times they screwed up when they changed something, or the various “extremely bad bugs” we had at the start that allowed people to cash in precursors and gold.
I’m tired of defending the game, I just can’t anymore.
EDIT 2: spelling

So you read my post and that’s all you can come up ? I’m taking you agree with everything else then. Good.
Depends on what exactly is this “intended” you’re talking about. 1 year ago, GW2 was a RPG with some FPS elements, now it’s the other way around. I doubt this was intended originally.

I miss it a lot, there was SO MUCH MORE teamwork using the trinity in GW1 compared to the zerg-fest in GW2, not to mention better optimization/utilization of many areas of the game.

Saying the trinity is teamwork based makes absolutely no sense to me. You are not even working with your teammates, you have a job and they have a job you each do completely autonomously of each other. It could be said the healer and tank are a team, they work together (more like one is dependent on the other) but other than that the only aspect in which the trinity could be considered team play is that you are all in the same place at the same time.

I don’t see it like that. Also you’ve put in brakets that “more like one is dependent on the other”, you do realize that’s the rough definition of teamwork right?
I’ve played games where everyone in a party had to work as a team, not sure what games have you played.
I’ve experienced a lot of things. The tanks have to manage aggro, so the squishies don’t insta die. The healers… I don’t have to explain I guess. While the dps, usually also have a quite a few of control spells like sleep, snare, knockback helping the tank with controlling other adds, and trying to do as much damage as they can while not taking aggro from the tanks. Honestly I see more teamwork there that in GW2 at the moment. The thing is GW2 has potential in team play but since everything can be tanked and spaked in a corner you don’t see it. People can work together in removing defiant stacks and blinding/interrupt crucial monster spells. The “combo fields” are nice but they’re not game changing. I often see people use the wrong finished through a field several times. The thing is this game is carebear mode. The game doesn’t punish you if you don’t use combo fields, and the game doesn’t punish you for not interrupting skills or for staking in a corner.
Honestly, I’ll choose between waiting a few minutes in a que (most games actually allow you to do something else while in waiting, so you can actually craft/continue farming or whatever) because of trinity but gaining that pleasure of actually working as a team and bringing down that big kitten boss after 5 or 10 minutes of perfect coordination, than finishing a gw2 dungeon in 20 minutes half afk.

I miss the trinity. But what I actually miss isn’t the “trinity” but the fact that people had distinctive roles when joining a party.

If I had to describe the GW2 gameplay to someone I’d say it’s practically a barbaric invasion. WvW – barbaric invasion with different builds. Open world Pve and dungeons – zerker barbaric invasion. What type of gameplay would I love? – an ancient Rome type of invasion, the archers have their role, the infantry has it’s role, that artillery has it’s role and finally the cavalry has it’s role. The sad part is trinity actually helps a Roman style type of invasion while the GW2 “meta” doesn’t.

EDIT: Actually i just realised GW2’s gamplay isn’t that of an RPG. GW2 is a FPS with RPG elements…which is sad

I DON’ CARE. Stop coming here complaining for your kitten. We can’t do anything about it. Personaly even if I could I wouldn’t. Once the game was given to a publisher, ANet can’t do anything about it. I think if NCSoft wanted to change stuff in the game here, it would be the same situation, ANet couldn’t do anything about it (not sure about this)

TL:DR:
It’s your problem, deal with it.

this is discussion and raising awareness, not looking for a solution. It’s incredible I need to explain that to you.

Yeah, actually you didn’t have to explain that to me. But my point still stands… Raising awareness… about what? About what happens to GW2 China? Why should I care? Again, why should i care? Are we talking about humanitarian situations? Are we talking about a crisis where people are dying and human rights are being trampled on? No, we are talking about a game that’s about to get released in a fashion common to most, if not all other Chinese games. I really don’t get it, why should the western GW2 population care about it? It’s highly unlikely the same system is going to be implemented, even if it were implemented we can’t really do anything about it yet. Once stuff will happen here, we’ll deal with it, and probably a good lot of GW2’s population will quit the game.
Even if you call it discussion I actually consider it off topic in these forums. These forums are for the western GW2 not China’s, we’re not talking about the same game here anymore.

It happens to me too to be honest but since I didn’t actually try to find a pattern I’ll just have to put it under the RNG gods. That being said. So far I’ve stoped playing GW2 3 times for extended periods (months, and this is currently the 3rd time). On the other two occasions, I got extremely good loot for the first 2 or 3 days. I actually took note of them because I thought it would be a bit strange. The first time I stopped I got a total of 20 rares, 5 named exotics and around 200 t6 mats in 3 days, rares and exotics weren’t from the daily chests but just as drops. The second time I got 18 rares, 3 named exotics and a good amout of t6 mats as drops. I only noted it because before this I’ve been playing for months straight (since beta till the pirate invasion when I had my first break) and I only got 1 exotic drop from a boss. You might see it as just lucky, but somehow I can’t really believe it, at least deep inside.

You people do realize that the reason this game is still alive is because of the casuals you’re bashing right?
I mean GW2 is not a hardcore mmo, the hardest fight in the game is a monster that slightly skillful people can solo under like what, 3 minutes?
I’m pretty sure ANet is going to listen the the filthy carebears considering they probably out scale you guys in numbers 1000 to 1.

But setting that aside, I don’t think those “filthy” carebears would mind a private dps meter like the one we had in GW1.
Also since we had that in GW1 it’s highly unlikely to have it in GW2 considering it’s a completely different game. Not to mention a great number of the GW1 fights were a lot more harder.

I’m personally getting tired of this stuff. I mean it’s like having a group of alchoolists consider themselves superior to a group of heavy smokers. You’ll both eventually die you know.

It seems silly but it’s probably because it would take too much work/time to add. There are plenty of other weapons, not just rifles, that should use a different animation. I don’t mind if they stay that way, it makes legendary weapons even more cool.
Also, the plural for legendary is legendaries, what you used there is the English possessive.

Imo it’s a great idea. Totally support this.
Heck they could even make it character bound, as in when you buy a skin it’ll be character bound so you can only use it on that toon with unlimited uses, but if you want to use it on a different toon, you could use a transmutation stone and give it to a different character as well. And since you won’t need as many stones as you do now you could even increase the price for them.

Stacking & Ignoring Enemies in Dungeons?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Fasalina.6571

Fasalina.6571

Honestly, I’m getting tired of this type of threads.
The thing is, all the dungeons in GW2 are poorly made. The boss fights in this game are broken.
I personaly don’t get much of a thrill off of any fights in this game. There are no bosses that actually make my heart skip a beat while fighting it.
I just played for a few days FF14 and while GW2’s combat is a lot more dynamic and fluid. I just love the dungeons in that game. Now I’m not saying that game is better than this game, or anything. But honestly the dungeons/raids/trials over there are exceptionally made. Just a small example: there was this final boss that you had to fight inside a room with 4 candles in the corners. These lanterns would light up during the fight (2, 3, 4 times, depending on how fast the boss dies). If the lanterns weren’t turned off by interacting with them fast enough, they would do massive aoe damage to the whole party. Trash adds would also spawn regularly and aggro the players that tried to turn off the lanterns. The tank had to keep aggro of the boss, the dpsers had to quickly finish off the adds before turning off the lanterns while the healer had to be careful when healing to not get aggro from the boss or adds and keep the tank up.
The amount of coordination in that dungeon required was amazing. And all the dungeons over there were like that (starting from lvl 10)
Trash mobs before the bosses were taken care off in a minute per stack (usually in groups of 3). I don’t know, GW2 is a great game and everything, but I honestly miss dungeons where stuff requires coordination.
Until ANet completely change the current dungeons, people will continue to stack and skip.
Add mechanics to bosses, tone down the trash HP bars, and make it so people actually need to coordinate while playing.
Currently, you don’t have to coordinate at all, all you need to do is stack in a corner and DPS down, while I don’t consider that wrong or anything, I don’t consider it fun.

Indeed that’s true. They aren’t harder than champions.
But that’s ANets fault not ours.
I like OP’s idea. But it can’t happen because what Vol said.
What they need to do is: Give legendary bosses legendary mechanics (you know that king of stuff that makes people move around, think, coordinate), and then slap legendary chests on them
Current legendary bosses can’t have legendary chests because they don’t require any sort of thinking. I don’t feel like they should give higher rewards

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ineptitude

How about together with this new Ineptitude condition, we get another one.

This new x2 condition should be called: Elitism

It basically works like this.
Every time your critical hits become glancing blows, you get 1 stack of Elitism debuff. Every time you successfully evade and get hit by a glancing blow you get 1 stack of Elitism.

For every stack of Elitism on you, you loose 1000hp up to a maximum of 25% of your HP bar.

If you successfully manage to kill your opponent while having a full stack of Elitism (25), you get to insult the looser scum for 15 minutes without fearing a ban.

On a different note. At least try to play all professions before starting to suggest stuff to the devs to do

The fact that most of these items ever existed is just blatantly a bug. The decision to throw cooldowns on them were for server performance/stability as the patch notes said, not for balance. Period. This was something that was long overdue.

Think of it this way: Between the embers and whistle, those items were effectively doubling/tripling the amount of players active in a map.

As for the Charrzooka, I’m not sure what the reasoning behind that change was. That wasn’t part of the change to summons, or at least that I’m aware of.

I got zero problem with Anet saying so & making a change. Spouting bs to a paying customer is a different story. The faster they admit it the faster everybody will move along.

If people would stop kittening about every single good change they make because they had to nerf something in the process then I would expect ANet to treat us players with better respect.
The thing is you (and by you I mean a lot of people on the forums) as a paying customer (a kittenty one for that matter) for some reason expect to be able to trash talk the devs every time you (again, by you I mean a lot of players) don’t like something. Honestly if I were them I’d file out bans in bulks. Remember it’s a mmo and you are paying for their services, you don’t own anything in this game, and they can choose to terminate their services at any time.

I have never done “Teq”, PvP, WvW, or any Dungeon in this game.

I just like to meander through open-world-pve and level up my nine characters slowly.

I use the consumables to aid my solo play but only where they fit in with the character i am currently playing.

My elementalist specialises in fire magic summoning and i like to use both fire elementals all the time, having a third through the use of a consumable was like christmas for me ( i have a fire imp mini and they share the same animations, all 4 flying summoned fire creatures flapping flames around her).

Why is my casual play nerfed because of something happening somewhere else?

How is this a “good change” for me?

MMO, mass multiplayer online. If you want everything to resolve around yourself, please go play a singleplayer game. They can’t fix a game keeping in mind every single player’s needs.

No need to state the obvious, i think i know that already.

I asked how you thought this was a “good change”?

i shall also edit some extra into this post:

your tone is overly dismissive and confrontational, this isnt a battle.

there are several other ways to have altered these items, the worst way was chosen.

they could simply be culled via the graphics settings and made unable to be summoned on certain maps and instances.

this is just a clunky quickfix that has done more harm than good.

I apologize for the tone, this forum pulls out the worst of me. The thing is I stopped beying a nice person here because people love to bash and bash and bash again.
Why I think it’s a good change?
1. Because it trivializes content
2. Puts heavy load on the graphics
I do agree that it’s a sloppy fix that would’ve been dealt with differently, make stuff deal no damage and slap a graphic slide on it. But even if it’s a sloppy fix, it does solve the problem fast. People should also consider that we had the holidays and people wanted to spent time to their families.
I’d also like to apologize to ANet since I actually thought they lied in the patch notes saying that it’s a pure performance problem. I actually thought it was only because it trivialized content.
Bill’s last comment is a bit strange though so I’d like a more through explanation (considering people already started to kitten about it like little kids)
Even after what Bill said though, I still think the Embers actually did trivialize content.

Am I the only one being disappointed?

My elementalist specialises in fire magic summoning and i like to use both fire elementals all the time, having a third through the use of a consumable was like christmas for me ( i have a fire imp mini and they share the same animations, all 4 flying summoned fire creatures flapping flames around her).

Why is my casual play nerfed because of something happening somewhere else?

How is this a “good change” for me?

MMO, mass multiplayer online. If you want everything to resolve around yourself, please go play a singleplayer game. They can’t fix a game keeping in mind every single player’s needs.
Lemme put it in other words. Other people used the consumable to make certain parts of the game trivial (and maybe there are performance issues aswell, due to bad coding ofc). The only way to quickly fix it was to slap that timer on them.

Extra short answer:

Deal with it.

Stop beating around the bush.
The items were op, and they were not meant to be spammed in combat like that.
The faster people admit it the faster you’ll move along.

Why is GW2’s community full of necromancers. Geez

What would you prefer? 200 threads about the same topic? Because I get quickly sick of that.

Actually that’s what I’d like actually.
A new thread on the same topic will die a lot more faster. People are more prone to comment on a thread with 500 views and comments rather than a new thread containing the same questions.
So yeah.

NECROMANCY is a bad thing and should be punished imho, just like plenty other forums do (be it a game’s forum or a generic one).
SMITE all NECROMANCERS

And to be relevant to the thread:

It has become pretty clear what ANet’s position on future content is .
They’ll say they are working on it, they won’t give a date (unless the project is almost complete). When they do give a date, it usually means it’ll be ready for the next update.
How many times did ANet say something that they weren’t sure it would be in game by the next update? As far as I know, never.

I have read a few threads where people have contacted CS after salvaging (and other mishaps with) Precursors, and they have always been pleased with the results. I believe you will, as well.

Good luck. =)

Really? so they can replace salvaged precursors but can’t replace salvaged cash shop gear?I’ve seen plenty of cases (and I personally had one) where someone salvaged a piece of a cash shop armor and support said they can’t do it because they don’t have the “technology” to do it. Back in the day the Cash Shop armor skins didn’t even give you a confirmation window when salvaging btw.

If his request goes through I’m going to be very kittened off. Not because he got his legendary back mind you, but because of lack of transparency

IF they did that then they would have to modify some other weapons too, like Jormag’s Breath and the Fiery Sword for example.
I don’t agree with this. I like them how they are atm

You know, you’d think the money trail would be easy to trace. The bots have to siphon that gold to some other account through probably the mail system. Once a bot has been positively identified, the account should be locked as well as any account it sent gold to, with an appeal process for those whose accounts were locked. ANet does some press releases about the approach, within a matter of months, the problem is solved as the word gets out because people are too afraid to buy money from gold sellers. My personal opinion is that ANet never really cared about the bots or gold sellers all that much. Really, if they actually kill all the bots, then they lose their justification DR. Teleporting bots is another example, these should be dead simple to identify and kill. Why do they still exist?

Not if they use the tp to transfer money between accounts.

If they do ban botters it’s still very hard for them to keep up. The thing is with all the offers going on, where gw2 is on sale, botters can afford to buy accounts continuously. As far as I know, a decent computer can run at least 10 bots at the same time. If you estimate an average of 2 weeks between ban waves, it’s still plenty of time for the botters to make enough money to actually buy back everything else. Even the small botters with 1 or 2 accounts never get eliminated completely, they just get stalled. Even if both their accounts get banned, they managed to make enough money to buy 2 other accounts and still have some cash leftover, they’ll just continue buying accounts, leveling them and botting. But obviously the “small fry” don’t do that much damage. People botting with 1 or 2 accounts usually have a main account that they play on, and they use the money made by botting to buy fluff and cash shop items.
If ANet wants to get rid of bots, they need to draw more people into more and different low level zones faster. That way people can catch botters faster and shut them down before they become able to farm in orr.
I’ve seen different videos and people talking on different forums. It seems just by botting in Orr can net you 100g in 2 or 3 days without you doing anything.

Also, may this be a better year for every other aspect of life, cause… 2013 sucked rusted skritt shinnies.

2013 was the year of the snake. 2013, 2001, 1989 etc. was the years of merciless snake. Dark, sucky years for most people. We still have a month left. It’s still year of the snake till february 4th so don’t except anything to change until then.

2014 is the year of the crazy horse! Now that’s fun! Lots of travel, fitness, impulsiveness awaits all of us. As a horse, I welcome you to my year! I’m a horse that can use a keyboard! But snakes can’t, hahaha

Perspective. I’m a snake, tbh 2013 was far better than the years that passed. I’m not sure about 2014 tho. We will see.

Ah, yes, Happy New Year

I’m not sure why you people keep changing the meaning of words, I mean come on it’s like using the wrong meme in a context, learn your memes.
P2W has and will always be:
- buying armors and weapons with astronomical stats that can not be found in game or that can be found but under a 0.0000000001% drop, and it can’t be crafted.
- “elixirs” or “skill cubes” or whatever you wanna call them that “allow” you to safely enchant a weapon or armor over… lets say +10 and where not using one of the said items equals to a 90% fail rate.
A P2W model can be applied in a place where PvE and PvP mingle more than our crappy WvWvW
People buy crap with astronimical stats in different games because they like going out griefing and PKing. People buy said stats because they get an ENORMOUS (not a measly 5%) advantage when they wanna PK in towns and not get hurt by the guards, or they “dungeon fight” or whatever other mechanic older games had implemented (some of you carebears probably don’t even know what PK means…)

Long story short:
People can buy that 5% stats increase but so far GW2 can’t be called P2W because everything is availabe ingame. I spend, say 200 euros, convert them and I get my ascended stats today. You can just play for a month or two and you’ll get them them. It’s not like you can only get ascended weapons and armor this week, it’ll stay forever… Ascended armors and weapons can’t be compared with that 0.000000001% drop chance I was talking about above, and everything CAN be crafted.
You can call it P2LookPretty but definitely not P2W.

EDIT:
“Ooh but I’m a casual and I can only play 2 hours a week, it’ll take more more than 2 months to get me my ascended armor and weapon. You talk like that because you probably play 200 hours a week and already have everything”

No, I have no ascended weapons nor armor, and I’m not even trying to get them. I have a legendary because I worked for it and got it in around 1500 hours of gameplay by hoarding everything while I was having fun and buying the precursor on the tp.

So yeah,

DEAL WITH IT

Considering you’re coming from Dark Souls. I suggest you ask for a refund on GW2. You’re expecting a very high quality gameplay, be it combat, crafting or tactics and an amazing story. Things that you won’t find here.
