Delete the local.dat file this will reset all your setting back to default, sound like it is corrupted. You will have to redo all your setting and the game will creat a new one.

Are you sure what is the name of the server you are on

The game only reads the local.dat one time just to get the user info and settings moving your local.dat is not going to improve load time at all just leave it where the game puts it don’t try to fix what’s not broken.

Your problem is you live in the US and are on a European server you need to change to a US server. The US servers are in Texas and the EU servers are in Germany.

How many of those so called 7 ,488 unresolved issues were actually resolved just because an Anet rep or dev didn’t respond to a thread doesn’t mean they went unresolved. it is most likely they resolved there issue and didn’t bother to post how they did it or they had an overinflated ego like the OP has and just didn’t bother to try because the think their PC is perfect.

Unfortunately a lot of people are experiencing lag during internet prime time it’s not typically the game but just the number of people on the internet and your ISP will not admit it but they are know to throttle user speeds during that time so there is not a lot that can be done also the path to the game servers can be an issue, the number of hopes and the Ping rate at each hop has a great deal to do with lag.

You may have a bad stick of ram download and burn to cd Memtest96 let I boot up your PC and run overnight. Do not try and test your system with one of the windows memory test apps they are not accurate because Windows and other app could block areas in ram that can’t be tested.

If you have all the ingame graphics setting set to the highest setting unfortunately there is no CPU GPU combination that will run this game on max setting and give good fps, try these setting as a base to start:

That really odd looks like you have cover just about everything. You say your monitor turn off does the power light go out or does it change color the reason I’m asking is because if the power to the monitor is going out or acting like it is shutting off then maybe the monitor is bad and when this happens it send odd voltage spike back up the Video cable causing the PC to lockup. I had this happen to an old p3, and a CRT monitor, back in the day. The monitor died literally in a puff of smoke. I hard some arcing noises coming from the monitor and little whiffs of smoke came out the top. Also the PC rebooted and fried the video card. The point being is the monitor actually turning off or it the screen just going dark and looking like it turn off.

It’s the game. I just spend $620 on an upgrade (new motherboard, new CPU Intel i7 4770k and DD3 memory). My video card is a Sapphire ATI HD 6950 Dirt 3 Edition (so I DON’T have hardware bottlenecks) Reinstalled Windows and everything.

Still I get 7 fps. I CAN’T play.

Wow and that’s why I get 35 to 45 fps in LA and 65 to 80 in explorable ares on my i5 yes it’s the games fault you can’t test or trouble shoot your system or probably didn’t run a burn in test to see if there are any defective components. Yes and it’s the games fault just because you bought all new hardware you don’t think you need to check for driver updates. It’s the games fault you are most likely running a 32bit version of windows so all you can access is 3.5megs of what ever amount of ram you have it’s most likely you did something wrong when you assembled the system or you didn’t setup the BIOS correctly but yes it’s the games fault! Yes it the games fault that 1 out of 10 electronic components are shipped DOA!

I would say that with the small numbers of players that are having this issue it is not Anet’s fault I just logged into the game without a problem so no Anet is not slow to fixing the problem you are! And you don’t know what’s going on!

There is no CPU GPU combination that will run this game at max setting and get max fps it’s just not passable at this time. The best you can hope for is a balance between eye candy and fps. There are a number of factor that effect fps the main one is the CPU this game is highly CPU dependent, the GPU is not that important mid range GPUs will work as good as the high end one. The CPU matters most in this game, an intel i5 or better is the best choice for this game. This game does not do well on AMD CPUs. The amount of memory has a great deal to do with performance, the game will run on 4gigs but 8gig or more is best. Also the OS plays into this to, at this time the OS of choice is Window7 64bit. If your are running the 32bit version you have a memory limit of 3.5Gigs no matter how much ram is install in your system. Windows8 has issues with gaming so stay clear and if you have it installed it is highly recommended to go back to Windows7 overclocking is a crapshoot some have gotten a performance increase, others have had issues. Apps and programs running in the background can take a big hit on performance especially on lower memory systems. This game can make your system run harder than it has ever so Keeping you system cool is a priority. Make sure you have good airflow threw out your system, keeping your cooling path clean and free from dust and lint. Check this like every other month is a good idea you will be surprised how fast it will build up. Also make sure that any of the vents are not blocked by outside obstructions or your PC is not in a confined space like some computer desks have a cubby hole for the PC this space may be to confining and not give you good airflow. GuildWars 2 is an awesome game but getting the best performance may take a little work for some but trust me it will be worth it.

It’s really not that big of a deal to reinstall windows 64 bit your product key is good on bough versions so you will not have to buy another copy of windows you just need the 64 bit DVD. Also looking at your crash log it shows you only have 3327megs of ram that’s only 3.3 gigs so you might want get more ram in your system.

Have you upgraded to Windows 8.1 yet if not do so double check all drivers are up to date. Unfortunately it may just be windows 8 and your hardware there are tons of gaming issues in Windows8 mainly in driver compatibility. Windows8 at this time is not stable enough for gaming and Anet is not supporting it.

Try resetting your router and modem.

Try reinstalling the drivers also check for overheating does your laptop get really hot when you play. Check the air vents on the sides make sure they are not clog with dust or lint is so you may want to get some canned air with the thin straw on the side carefully insert the straw into the vents and blow as much of the dust out as possible.

That is really odd, did you try the -repair command in the GuildWars2 shortcut target field?

OK sounds like you stopped playing the game just before they removed culling from the game what culling did is is limited the number of players that you could see from your characters prospective this gave you better game performance but a lot of times you could not see the players characters you were playing with. So now you may need to lower some of your ingame graphics setting. Three of the of the setting that will help you improve fps is Shadows set to low, Character Model Limit set to medium or low, and Character Model Quality set to medium or low. Also if you adjust some of the other setting till you get a balance from performance and graphics quality. Good luck hope this helps.

The only issue would be the video card in the notebook looking at GuildWars2 minimum requirements it says it will work on a intel HD3000 he has a 4000 so it should run although most of the in game graphic setting will be low and fps will be low the game should at least run did you set the game to run in administrator mode?

In LA I get 35 to 45 fps and explorable areas 60 to 80 fps don’t WvW much so not sure about fps there. You may have adjust these setting till you get the desired balance you like also double check and make sure all your drivers are up to date, video, motherboard chipset, network, and sound. Also look for a core unparking app some have had marked improvement unparking idle CPU cores that windows parks as an energy saving feature by default.

In all this there has not been anything said about what OS you are running this maybe the factor in your problem if you are running Windows 8 upgrade to 8.1 this may fix the problem there is a know issues in 8 with the mouse curser that will cause the stuttering and upgrading to 8.1 is suppose to fix this but it may cause more problem with driver comparability issues try at your own risk. Right now Windows 8 is not stable enough for gaming and Anet is not supporting it.

Windows 8 is the inferior OS check the internet look at other gaming sites there a a lot of games having issues with windows 8. Microsoft just forced out the OS to make more money just like they did Window ME and vista 2 of the wurst version ever now it’s Window 8 time to join the craptastic OS ranks good luck with that while we all play this wonderful game on windows7 with no issues.

If I reading your crash log right you have something running in the background that is using almost half your ram.

If your friend can find the credit card statement with the charge to Ncsoft, then he needs to submit a support ticket. They may have him send or fax a copy of the statement to support for verification. This may take a while but he should be able to get his account back also don’t spam the support ticket system with the same reason, each time you submit a ticket for the same reason you go back in line and wait longer. Plus give them a couple of days it’s coming up on the week
End and next week is Christmas so ticket response may be a little slow.

Are all your drivers updated video card, motherboard chipset, sound, and network if so then it’s something wrong with Windows 8 just to let you know Anet is not supporting Windows 8 at this time so good luck the best advice I could give you is downgrade to Windows7 64bit.

Sounds like your graphic card is going out or maybe it’s over heating. When is the last time you had you PC opened up, if it’s been a while open up the case get some canned air and blow it out, you will be surprised how much dust build up inside a PC dust restricts air flow and heat build up. Make sure all the fan are running and not making any rattling, wining or bussing noises then remove and reinstall the video card this is called reseating some times this helps.

Yes unless you have GuildWars install on a second partition, or drive you can backup the GuildWars folder to a portable hard drive or a 32gig flash drive to save you from downloading it again.

Something that has not been talk about is WiFi congestion if your PC or laptop has to be connected to WiFi and there is no practical way to get a cable to it then you may want to check your area for the number of WiFi signals you can detect. I live in an apartment complex and can detect 23 active WiFi signals. I do not have my PC connecting over WiFi to play the game, but my iPad and laptop do. So I got curious one day, when I was getting kicked of Netflix on my iPad, I was on a WiFi channel with 5 other signals. So I found a channel that only had one signal and change to it, haven’t had a connection issue since. Also cordless phones, remote control toys, and baby monitors are all on the same frequency as WiFi, causing more congestion.

Turn down your gamma correction in the in game graphic setting.

Two problems not enough memory the game requires a minimum of 4 gigs, 8gigs or more is better. Second you need Windows 64bit so the game has access to more than the 3.5gig limitation of Window 32 bit your current OS. I’m surprised you can play at all with only 2 gigs and that old of a processor.

I think it might be time to do a complete reformat reinstall of Windows, I know this is a big pain but I looks like you have some unresolved Windows issues that a reinstall will clear up. Sometimes it’s just faster to do this than to try and trouble shoot the problem you can save a backup of the gw2.dat file to save time on the reinstall. You will need all the latest drivers for the reinstall graphics card, motherboard sound and network. Then after windows is installed and updated, install nothing but the game not even antivirus at this time. Play the game on a clean install and you will see a mark improvement in performance.

I find it hard to believe that your motherboard will only support 4gigs there hasn’t been a limitation that low for years, what kind of board is it make and model number I need to look that one up!

Your system was able to handle GuildWars just barely and when they added all the winters day stuff in LA that sent it over the top a lot more graphics for your PC to deal with. Update windows to the 64 bit version and if you can afford it add more ram to your system , you want at least 8 gigs. Also depending on your motherboard’s number ram slots 2 or 4, you will have to buy the ram in pairs. Your system now has 4gigs so you have 2 2gig sticks, so if your board has 2 slots with 2gig sticks installed you will have to replace them with 2 4gig sticks. If your board has 4 slots you could add 2 2gig or higher sticks. It is a very good idea to buy the same brand and speed if you can find it if you are going to add more to the 4gigs you have if you can’t you might want to replace the stick you have with 2 4 gig or higher sticks. Aways buy ram in matched pairs that’s why it’s most alway sold in pairs. Hope this makes sense to you, good luck.

Unfortunately the problem is in the AMD processor, the reason for it has been debated and explained in several threads,. So some have got better frame rates by over clocking and lowering in game graphics settings, good luck.

Try running scan disk and defrag you may have a hard drive issue.

Check the power setting they may have changed or your power supply may be going bad.

FPS In Lions Arch 32 to 45 depending on where my character is
FPS in explorable areas 65 to 80 and sometimes as high as 90 but that’s rare not sure why will edit this the next time I go into WvW getting late

If I’m reading your PC specs correctly you only have 4 gigs of ram the game will use that much ram, so if you have anything in background running using ram the that create a bottleneck. Up your system ram to at least 8 gigs, I am running on an i5 with 8 gigs ram a cheapo $100 NVIDIA card and get on average 40 to 60 FPS sometimes as high as 80 and never below 30 with most of the graphic setting to high and a few set to medium.

It maybe an ISP issue you all need to post your ISP and see if there is some kind of similarity going on, or it might be the port of the word you live in.

Go into game options. it’s the gear on the top left click video setting, I think it’s called that, then adjust gamma correction.

It not that the game is not optimized it’s just not for AMD processors for the price of the top AMD you can get an I5. I run an I5 and a cheapo $100 NVIDIA card and get up to 70 FPS and 30+ in LA and WvW.

I you feel that your PC is running hotter when is the last time you had the case open and blown it out with compressed air?
