I don’t think it is an ISP or regional issue as I can play in the exact same room mas my girlfriend and I will lag while she does not. I can be stood right next to her, unable to use skills or interact with anything while she is perfectly fine. Also while the lag is happening ingame chat functions perfectly fine.

Then it’s quite possibly a system issues, see if your network drivers are up to date. Also do you run anything in the background that uses the internet, check for internet hijacking viruses.

Are you sure, every time you stop and restart the game during download the download will say 0% this is normal for this game but the file count will be less.

Most likely the game files were set to Read Only, this happens sometimes not sure why but I think I may have something to do with the antivirus they are using.

Check the files in the GuildWars2 folder make sure they are not set to Read Only.

Yes you can but when you start it up again it will start where it left off . It will say 0% don’t worry this I normal the number of files will be less each time you start the download till you get it all.

What I mean by running in the background is a lot of thing like iTunes, Skype, instant messengers, antivirus, and many others, event though you are not actually using them still run in the background and use system resources look in your task manager you might be surprised at all the stuff running. Yes more ram will help a little but being you have an older low end system you might just save that cash towards a newer system

How full is your hard drive, there may not be enough room for windows swap file also if you have stuff running in the background that will use more of your ram pushing the game into virtual ram that is created on your hard drive and is quite a bit slower. You may what to get more ram this will speed up your load time a little. As a last resort a reformat and clean install of windows does wonders for speeding up things.

You have 3D stereoscopic rendering turned on in your ingame graphics setting or in your graphics cards utility app. If you are running Windows8 it’s a know bug in 8 and NVIDIA cards disable it in the cards utility app.

You should get fairly decent fps with those specs the only concern I can see is the ram 6G ram is kind of odd, ram needs to be installed in pairs and come in 2, 4, and 8G sticks. Also the number of ram slots on a motherboard are 2 or 4, so to have 6G would mean that this PC has 3 2G sticks assuming the motherboard has 4 ram slots then one set of slots has only one stick in it. The PC will run ok like this but it make cause timing issues and slow you system down a little each time some app used that third stick.

This issue isn’t because of a connection/location issue. I am from the US (New York) and I’ve been experiencing non-stop error 7 disconnections since the 12/23 build. I do think it is because the servers are being over flooded with players and there simply isn’t enough room for every one to play. During certain times of the day I experience no issues at all but, at other times I can’t stay logged in for more than a minute. If Arena Net can fix their current issues instead of selling more copies and adding to the problem that’d be great. I tried all of the solutions that were posted to no avail. I don’t understand how no one has even answered these threads for over a week. Players like me are getting extremely frustrated. We’re just trying to play a game that we payed for. PLEASE fix the issues Anet.

Are you connect to the internet from your PC threw WiFi or a cable if it’s WiFi you may live in a local area that has WiFi congestion try using a cable to the router see if the issue goes away.

I am also crashing every night again; it had gone away for some time, but now every time I’m in WvW I crash right about the 25 minutes played mark. I did a repair and nothing changes. My specs and log are below, any help is greatly appreciated.

Something is taking up 82% of you memory this is not normal this issue has been posted before and fixed but I can’t find the thread and can’t remember the title of thread will look and post a link to it later or maybe someone else has an answer.

Running off a swap file from a hard drive will cause fps issues. Because a hard drive is to slow and not everyone has an SSD.

It may be that you need more ram the game will run in 4gigs of ram but if you have to much stuff running in the background it will cause issues try closing out of some apps and programs you may have running, or get more ram. Also it might be a good idea to test your ram download and run memtest96 this will need to be burned to a cd. Set your PC to boot to cd and the boot your system with the Mentest cd and let it run for 24hr or at least over night do not use any windows based testing apps because they don’t work.

What’s your PC specs and witch version of windows.

A couple of things could cause your PC to freeze up while playing this game. CPU or GPU overheating is the main one, check your system vents and airflow path make sure is clean and free of obstructions inside and out, dust is the enemy. Next not enough ram this game will need more then 4 gigs of ram 8 or more is best especially if you have a lot of stuff running in the background. You might have a bad stick of ram you may what to check you memory download Memtest96 burn it to a cd and boot your system with it and let it run over night. Check your power supply is it rated for you system today PCs are power demanding with multi core CPUs and high end graphics cards you want a PSU that is rated at least 600watts or more, also you don’t what to get a cheap PSU some of the cheaper models say one rating but under load and high power demand they crap out and may cause your PC the freeze or restart.

The DVD should work but with all the updates to the game the download still will be quite large. You may have to install in administer mode but if you can’t get it to work the download is quite large 16g or more. One thing you could do is let the installer install the game then close out of the installer after it gets to the point when it starts the large download. Take a portable USB hard drive to someone you know that has internet, that’s not capped and install the game on their PC, let it download completely. Then go into the directory where the game was installed and copy the gw2.dat file to the portable drive, go home and copy that gw2.dat file over to your PC where the game was installed on your PC. I know this is a pain but if you are capped this may be your only option or let the game download a little each month till you get it all. Every time you stop the download by just closing the game it will start where it left off even though it will show 0% when it starts up again the file count will be smaller. Also you might contact your ISP and see if they would rase your cap for one month to let you get the game installed. Good luck hope this helps.

Make sure that your laptops power management is set to performance not power save mode, also this game will make your laptop run hot make sure the fans are running and all air paths and vent are clear and clean the hotter your laptop runs the more it will slow down to prevent damage a cooling pad with extra fan is a good idea if you are gaming

Have you all tried the -repair command in the GW2 shortcut target field maybe it’s a corrupt file.

Turn it off in the graphics card utility app.

It could be a couple of things the main on is overheating when is the last time you had your PC case open, if it’s been a few months or more use some canned air and blast that thing out you will be amazed at the amount of dust that can build up inside a PC In a short period of time even in the cleanest of houses. While your at it reseat the card take the card completely out and put it back in, having the card out will help to direct the canned air to do a more thrall job anyway. Reseat the ram to while your at it to. Is all your drivers up to date, and what version of Windows are you running make sure it is the 64bit so your system can use more than the 3.5 Meg of ram that is limited by the 32 bit Verizon of windows.

GTX 660 ti Twin Frozr OC the oc usually stands for over clock so I think your card is over clocked by the manufacturer with an option in the cards utility app to under clock it.

Turn off all security and firewalls, disable antivirus and run installer administrator mode. Then if you get the game to download and install run the game in admin mode and add the game to you antivirus exception list.

Could be your over clocked video card try under clocking it this game does not do well with over clocking especially the video card.

This is one of the reason windows8 is a bad gaming platform but there is a fix, go into your graphics card utility app and disable stereoscopic 3D rendering, hope this helps.

Look really good but I would stay away from Windows8 if you can get 7, 8’s interface sucks and it is still not stable for gaming quite yet. You should get fairly good fps with most setting high. Also check out Microcenter for SSDs.I picked up 2 Microcenter brand drives for $89, almost positive they are rebranded Samsungs and they come with mounting brackets, Good luck with the build.

Sounds like you PCIe is not set to x61 or you have your video card in the wrong PCI slot.

You will be hard pressed to get much over 20 to 30 fps in big events with a lot of people but if you adjust your ingame setting a bit you may see some improvement. Start out with this:

It’s a balance between fps and visual quality but 30+fps is quite playable. I can’t understand what the hype is about fps anyway. Anything over 60 in a video game is overkill. For years TV and movies were only filmed in 26 to 30 fps and animation fare less. HDTV is only 60fps so am I missing something here?

Right click on the GuildWars2 icon goto properties in the target field add the -repair after the last quotation mark it should look something like this:

“C:\Program Files\GuildWars2\gw2.exe” -repair

If if the stuff between the quote look a little different that’s ok don’t change anything inside the quotes just add a space and then the -repair, click apply, then run the game. It will look like the launcher is downloading the game again that’s ok it is just checking each file and replacing any that are corrupt, also you may not see the red download line move this is normal. If you see that it is checking files and the file count is going down then all is good. This may take some time but not as long as it takes to download the whole game over again. Hopefully this will fix your issue if all goes well and you get into the game or what ever happen you will need to remove the -repair command or the repair will start over again next time you run the game.

Optimized is to generic of a term it’s more of a buzz word people like to throw out when something is not working for them. yes the game runs on an older version of DirectX and may need to be tweaked a little but the game on a whole runs fine. People are having issues yes but for the most part those issues get sorted out with a little work and most likely turn out to be something with there system. I have been playing this game since beta with no issues. You will not get top fps but you can get reasonable playable fps. I get 30 to 45fps in LA and 60 to 80 in explorable areas. I don’t PvP or WvW much so no sure what I get there but anything over 30 fps anywhere is playable. If you are old enough and grew up back in the day before HDTV you all watched TV at 30fps and HDTV is 60fps so getting over 60 is overkill in a video game. The game is not photo realistic is more like good animation so why is everyone so bent on fps if you get playable levels then play the game, if you don’t then there is an issue with your system NOT the game.

What version of windows are you on and is it 32 or 64bit?

You might want to run a memory test like Chilimannen said get Mentest, burn it to a cd set you PC to boot to cd and let it run at least over night but 24hr or more is better you may have a bad stick of ram. Do not use any Windows based memory test apps they don’t work because windows and other apps will have protected memory allocations that can’t be tested.

I don’t think it is a hardware issue look at his ram WOW look at you ram usage it’s 78% that’s not normal, you have way to much craptastic apps running in the background or your system is full of viruses and malware or you have bad memory.

If. For some reason the download has been restarted it will say it started from 0 bet if you look closely at the number of file it should be less. The down laid pick up here it left off.

The game advisor just let you know if your PC can handle the game, not help with a connection issue turn of the firewall in window and router.

Sounds like you might have a local.dat problem but since you are on a Mac not sure where the file is to delete it so the game cae creat a new on. Repost this in the Mac beta client forums this is the PC forums.

Can you post the crash log. Also what version of windows are you running, if it is the 32 bit you need the 64bit to run this game because of the 32bits memory limitation on only giving access to only 3.5gigs of ram no matter how much is in your system.

It may be your antivirus disable it or add the installer to the exception list.

Ok I used the tracert to the server 64.25.33.49 and found that the lag seems to be being caused in GigabitEthernet….GW12.DFW9.ALTER.NET and then in 65.205.119.210 which I’m assuming is all their side not here. What ways could I look for to fix this? contact my ISP?

If possible could you post the whole trace rout also ALTER.NET is a fiber backbone own by Verizon and there has been lag issues for most people that are routed threw ALTER.NET. You could try the shortcut target command /clientport 80.

Wow that is really odd I would say you may have a virus redirecting your internet threw a proxy server to some Eastern European site threw Germany. Not sure though maybe someone else has an answer. Also you may what to submit a support ticket for this,this could be some weird routing issue with the GuildWars servers. Pease let us all know if you get this resolved I be interested in what the answer is for this strange issue.

With the title to this thread then your old PC didn’t lag, then I think it’s your Wifi if possible connect your new PC to your router with a cable and see if the lag goes away. If it goes away then there is some compatibility issue with the WiFi card in your new PC and your WiFi router.

Did you disable the firewall in both Windows and router, also check with your ISP some ISP have file size limits, throttling(slowing you internet down with big files or heavy use)or monthly band with usage limits. Check or disable antivirus some AVs thinks GuildWars is a virus and tries to mess with it during the downloading.
