So I got one of these Dell Venue pro 8 tablets running Windows 8.1 and this thing has a 1.8 quod core intel Atom processor with 2g ram 32g storage and has an 8" display. Well I got to thinking can it run GuildWars2, well believe it or not it can. I’m getting about 20 fps with all settings low, yes in know thats not stellar but playable. just got to come up with a mini keyboard for it to control the game. No I will most likely not play the game much on this tablet but to know I can is really cool. If anyone wants to try this on an intel based tablet you will need to copy the game folder from your PC to an sd card run the game off the sd card.

Wow that’s funny “Ham radio interference”, I’m a ham radio operator and have never seen any thing like that on my PC screen and my gaming system is it the same room as my radios. Yes it does look a little like TVI from an RF signal but a more likely it is over heating video card how long has it been since the OP has had his case open up and cleaned out. PC systems are dust magnets, even a little dust can cause over heating.

I not sure but the update can’t be much over 2g it’s just centered around LA. If you are having issues with download cap find someone you know that has no cap and go install the game on their PC. Then copy the gw2 .dat file from that PC to a portable hard drive take it home and copy it over to your PC in to the GuildWars 2 folder where the game was installed on your PC. Your updated without waisting your cap.

I could be wrong but it seem to me that you are confusing two different issues lag and fps. Lag is caused by the internet, it causes you to get rubber banding, long load times, and slow skill activation. Fps is caused by older system, hardware and software issues and out of date drivers. You said you haven’t played for months, maybe it was before culling was removed from the game. What culling did was reduce the number of player you saw from your prospective in the game to increase performance, but the one problem with this was that you might not be able to see some of the people you were playing with. So they took this out of the game and added some new graphic setting to adjust to improve performance try these setting to see if this helps
Full Screen: 1680 × 1050 Depending on monitor
Refresh Rate: Default
Frame Limiter: Unlimited
Interface Size: Normal Personal preference
Animation: High
Antialiasing: FXAA or None Some system this has no effect
Environment: High
OD distance: High
Reflections: Terrain & Sky or None It depends if you don’t care if you see the reflections in water this will improve fps.
Textures: High
Render Sampling: Native
Shadows: Low or None This is one of the main Fps reducers if you don’t care to see your shadow.
Shaders: High
Post Processing: High
Character Model Limit: Medium or low This effect how you see other characters in game and improve fps in mobs
Character Model Quality: Medium or Low This effect how you see other characters in game and improve fps in mobs.
Best Texture Filtering: Unchecked
Depth Blur: Checked
Effects LOD: Checked
High-Res Character Textures: Unchecked
Vertical Sync: Unchecked
Some of the setting that are set to High May need to be lowered on older system or AMD processors if you are running on an intel i5 or better theses setting seem to work well. It will be a balance between performance and visual quality.

It’s you system, for better load times and game performance you will need to think about building a i5 or better system. Stay away from the AMD processors right now the game doesn’t do well on them. If this is not possible at this point in time try doing a clean install of Windows, you will be amazed at how much better stuff runs on your system after a clean install if you decide to do a clean install, after you get windows and all the drivers and updates installed. Then download and install the game without installing anything else on your system not even antivirus, then compare the performance I can guarantee you will get better load time and better overall performance. Hope everything goes well for you let me know how it goes if you do decide to reformat and reinstall windows also reinstall with the 64bit version of windows even though the game is a 32bit game the game runs better in a 64bit OS. Yes you will need an antivirus I use Windows Security Essentials and it does good for me, also Avast is another good one that is GuildWars friendly. Just to let you know a lot of AVs treat the game as it were a virus so that is why I am recommending these two AVs.

Game client no longer loads beyond character select screen and crashes as soon as I select my lvl 80 ranger which I have spent the better part of a year building…SOOO not a happy bunny right now
Everything worked right up until the newest living world content went live – my suspicions are that it might be part of the issue. I’ve raised a support ticket and my game client has also sent several logs after crashing.
Looks like alter.net is your problem you are being routed threw arter.net a fiberoptic backbone own by Verizon unfortunately there is not a lot you can do, you could contact your ISP and see if they can forward the issue to alter.net but not sure if that will help this is an ongoing problem with alter.net and level3 backbones. You could try to add the command -clientport80 to the game’s shortcut target field. Sometimes this helps with internet routing issues. As for the trace rout timing out on the destination ip this is normal for security reason.

Hi,
I want to say i think its getting there in this game.
first the worldbosses got a bit harder wich is good. The bad is the rewards still are dissapointing. This needs to be improved, this could be done by special drops only from this boss alone. make it worth while you going to this boss again and again. see as it is an special legendary like skin/armor. Yes looks are importent.Another issue i have is the personal story, i made a few characters and i dont feel i have an personal story, agreed i have some options but its not that personal like the other options. also talking about this, dynamic events are great but i dont have an feel i did something in the world wich had some impact. example. iam liberating an village, and all is well. but not even an hour later the village is on fire as nothing i did had happen. I can not even occupy this land or do anything else with it that would have lasting effect on the game it self. the personal story should be more involved towards the world you playing in. I did all those heroric things and noone seems to care (NPC’s) So not doing those things have the same effect. might have this changed so people actually do the personal story more.
I see if you kill an worldboss you can not respawn it anymore. so instead of killing the boss you might want to drive him away from the world so he can attack somewhere else. who in the right mind would attack the same spot over and over again? Also if the event fails something bad should happen to the world. and people have to rebuild that part of the world to gain access to the recources. rewarding people by freeing to build stuff there as well. like housing / castles. this imo would help people get more involved into the world. with castles and housing you can also sell some decrorating stuff for in the gemstore. i know you need money to keep this game alive. So in short to make this game beter i would suggest
1. beter unique rewards
2. personal story worth doing /impact on the world
3. dynamic events really mean something now it resets every x-time.
4. make also goodlooking armor be earned ingame not only gemstore.Short list maybe but i have an feeling it would help this game alot if you improve this.
I agree with you on a lot of your point but to make the game change on a single players prospective is nearly impossible in and online game. The fact that the server space alone would grow astronomically to keep the data and graphics for each player as they interact with the game world. The only way that a living world can change in any game is that it changes at the same time for all players. Also if the outcome of an event changes something then the event would have to change or go away, then the next player that comes along misses out. That’s why events have to be repeatable or at least repayable to the next player that comes along. To build a game that would change the world to an individual player in an MMO would be impossible, but if it could be that would be fantastic. The game would more or less have to emulate real life and if your character died there would be no res.

No, after you get windows installed and all the drivers, don’t forget the commonly overlook motherboard drivers, download the installer app from the GuildWars2 site then run it when it gets to the really long download close out of the app and copy the gw2dat file from the GuildWars 2 folder from your old drive to the SSD where you install the game should be go to go. Some may say that you can copy the whole folder over than create a shortcut from the gw2.exe but I tried that once, the game didn’t run right. I’m almost positive that installing from the installer app sets up important paths and stuff in the windows registry, so it’s best to always use the correct install method

TS has recording built in and I think vent does to but you need permissions to use it if you run the servers you can grant it to yourself as admin, but you will need to get server admin to let you have the permission if not. Also check your local laws there may be a law against recording others without their knowledge. You will need to let people know they maybe recorded when they are on your server. If you are recording for rebroadcasting like in a YouTube video make sure all are aware and agree to be recorded. As for a external audio recording app Audacity is by for the best and it’s free you may need a second app to route the output of the voice server to Audacity.

There is clearly something wrong with Anets US serves, i don’t know what – maybe Eotm is too much for them to handle. Anyway, game became unplayable for number of players now and it would be nice, if anet would take care of the issue – at least tell us you know the issue exist and you are working to resolve this.
It also would be nice, to get answer to very simple question – why week ago (before eotm patch) game war working completely fine and now isn’t working at all.
With that kind of logic then everyone should have this issue and everyone does not. So the problem doesn’t lie with Anet’s servers, it lie in the crappy outdated over stressed internet in this country and how you are bing routed from your ISP to the game servers.

This is why a commander tag should have never been able to be bought instead is should have been set up in a system where you earned it, because there are to many people in this world with self inflated egos that think they should be in charge. The best players that I’ve seen it this game are the ones that don’t need a commander tag to lead they just come by it naturally and know the game and know how to motivate people to get the job done without being bossy. There is one person in the guild I’m in that is a perfect commander but dose not want a commander tag. The guild has offered to buy him one several times but he has refused it. This is a true leader, so until you can be like this guy don’t activate your commander tag.

You are getting an OOM Out Of Memory error the only know fix is to reinstall Windows with the 64bit version, you are using the 32bit version. With the 32bit version there is a ram limit of 3.5g available to programs and apps, no matter how much ram is installed in your system. With the 64bit version you have 8g of ram available. You can try to get rid of some of the stuff running in the background to try and free up ram but is just best to run the 64bit version instead. I know this sucks to have to reinstall everything but the game runs better in a clean install of windows. Also don’t forget to check for all driver update including the commonly over looked motherboard drivers. Also back up the gw2.dat file, it will be at least 18g, to a different partition or portable hard drive. It will be in the GuilWars2 directory this will save you the download time when you reinstall the game. When you get your system reinstalled and your ready to download the game, download the installer app and run it. When it gets to the realy long download close out of the installer app and copy the backup of the gw2.dat file to the directory you instal the game to it takes about 10 minutes to copy the file over instead of hours to re download the whole game again.

Sounds like over heating if it’s a PC when’s the last time you had the case open. If it’s been a while open up the case and check for dust build up. Get some canned air and take the PC outside and blow it out. If it’s a laptop check the air vent and airflow path there can be dust build up . Also get an app that monitors temperature in your system.

Try disabling your antivirus or adding GuildWars to the exclusion list. The game uses a form of a web browser for the TP and some AVs see this as a virus or malware because it not recognized browser. In some cases people have had to completely uninstalled the AV app to get the TP to work so far the 2 GuildWars friendly AVs are Avast and Windows Security Essentials.
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens
Two things that that may cause this are a bad or under rated power supply, or a bad sick of ram. GuilWars2 is a very resource hungry game, more so than any other game to date so if your power supply is under rated for your system then it might happily run along till you start the game, then your system starts to get maxed out from the game. Then the system pull more power from the supply then the power supply can deliver, the power supply goes into thermal overload and shuts down the whole system. You should have at least a 600watt or higher power supply also not all power supplies are equal. if you decided to go cheap on the power supply, it may be rated at 600watts but some cheaper PSUs can’t run at 600watts for long periods of time. Also the a faulty sick of ram can cause you system the shut down when an app or game tries to use it.

Really take hawkser’s advice this sounds like over heating if you haven’t had your PC opened up for some time then you need to do so, PCs are dust magnets even in the cleanest houses, even a little dust is enough to restrict airflow and cause over heating gets some canned air take it outside and blow it out, don’t do it in the same room the PC is in, all that dust you just blew out will be back in there in just a few hours. While your at it reseat the graphic card and memory. taking the graphics card out will help you get the dust out of the card more efficiently. Also if it is a dust problem and you have had an overheating problems then most likely the heat sink compound on the CPU has dried out you may need to redo this. There are youtube videos on how to do it if you never have before. Find videos showing the pee size method, it just takes a little compound.

I have never had a single problem with GW2, no problems during Beta testing and have played over a year with not a single problem.
Now suddenly in the last two weeks i have been getting kicked from the game back to character select and get the message…
“The game client has lost its connection with the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again.”
I do not experience any lag, there is no warning signs and my internet is flawless never loosing connection. I will be playing normally then randomly it will instantly kick me to character select, completely random.
I have tried searching for a solution but all i could see is people having this problem way back in Beta testing days.
Right now the game is unplayable, i have spent well over $1000 in this game, i love it, but i have not been able to play properly for nearly two weeks and its killing me.
Please help me, why is this happening now after having such a flawless track record? How can i fix it?

When is the last time you had the case opened up look like an overheating issues open up the case and blow out all the dust. If its a laptop check the air flow path use canned air blow it out. Check the temps of your system, there are several free app for this, CPUz is one also if it’s a PC you might try reseating the card remove the card from the slot on the motherboard and put it back in. Also make sure all your drivers are up to date including the commonly over look motherboard drivers.
I just built this PC in late November, and had it open in late December to install a wireless card. The case has a fine mesh in front of the intake fans, so no noticeable dust yet. Temps on CPU and GPU aren’t going above 50C when this happens, and System temp isn’t going above 40C. Graphics card is seated perfectly and works fine in every other game I’ve tried, including a Skyrim install that has 4K-sized textures and an ENB mod. For drivers I’ve tried both the latest WHQL and the latest Beta that’s offered up by Nvidia Experience.
I haven’t tried reinstalling, but it only happens occasionally and is cleared by restarting the client so I’d have a hard time believing that it’s a bad texture file… Seems more like an engine bug or shading glitch, especially with how it shimmers.
Looks like you may have a defective card, contact the video card support with this issue and see if they think you need to RMA the card.
