Why would a game that is in just about every top list on the internet be about ready to die I will admit I don’t play as much as I use to but it’s still the only game I play and will be for a long time. Plus I have read rumors of a expansion next year from some fairly reliable sources so this game it still going strong.

This issue looks a lot like someone somewhere has been messing with ip addresses could be that something is blocking some range of Anet’s ips to the servers that is why it not effecting all servers. Also for all that have posted their trace routs and timed out at the last ip this has been stated time and again that for security reasons this is normal

Are you sure you may have shadows set to none in the in game setting. doing this helps fps performance.

Don’t worry your achievement points are stored on the server side you can’t lose them. I’m not sure what the issue is this should have fixed your problem, you might want to submit a support ticket chances are they will make you do this same procedure again good luck.

This is what make a game fun and makes it unique, not everyone should get every thing if you didn’t play at the time that the item was available you can’t get it. I have been playing this game from the beginning and I don’t have all the special event items because I didn’t have the time to complete the event and get the unique item. You don’t see me posting in the forum that I should have a chance to get what I missed. This isn’t how life works, try going to the lottery commission and ask “I didn’t buy a ticket but I think I should win anyway” see how fare that will get all you entitlement people.

During the game development they said there would be an iPhone app just for this purpose but it never happened.

What version of Windows are you using if it is 8 you need to upgrade to 8.1 this should of happened when you did the Windows updates after the install if you haven’t ran Windows update yet you need to do so.

I think if the kid is mature enough to play the game then let them, but monitor their game play also find a good family friendly guild with a strict code of conduct I was in one of these types of guilds in GW1 they had strict language rules in guild chat and in TeamSpeak most of the kids that played only played when one or more of their parents were on. We need your system spec to start with and is this is a laptop or a desktop. If it’s a laptop the first thing to check is the power management setting, this sounds to me as if your settings are set to save battery power you will need to plug in the power adapter and set your power management to high performance. Also are you running any apps that have pop open like Skype, Weatherbug, things like that, these app can cause a sudden drop in fps as the app and game fight over control of you video card.

It is posable your ISP is detecting that it’s a large file and trying to throttle the connection or massive packet loss from one of the many nodes you have to go threw to get to the download server. Also what time of day are you tying to download if it’s prime time in your area try a different time like over night

This may make you look like a bot, be carful. If you are using a script to keep your account open for a long period of time. You may want to contact Anet and see if what you are planning is OK. If you are AFK your account closes out after a while. So you Would have to do something to fuel the game into thinking that you are actually at the keyboard playing and that may not be allowed.

You are taking on a daunting task that could take you months if not over a year to complete the amount of text in this game is quite large just be patient I am sure NCSoft/ Anet is looking into the Korean market so they will get a Korean distributer and that distributer will do the translation just like the did in China. Hopefully they will allow existing Korean players to migrate there accounts to the Korean servers if they wish to.

It’s most likely craptastic bloat ware AVG giving you a false report add GuildWars to exceptions list or better yet uninstall AVG and get Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials.

I used to have SSDs, then Intel put out an automatically-downloaded driver update that turned them into 16MB bricks.

Since then I’ve gone back to using 11000 RPM Hard Drives. SSDs are nice for something things, but are too risky for me thanks to their reliance on software over hardware to function.

Granted, I’ve got more than just game files to worry about so your mileage may vary.

What drive was this intel release a firmware update that will restore these drives but you will lose all you data, can’t find the link right now also I think you can RMA it also but it was a limited time offer.

Just get the card at one of the big box retailers if you are going to buy gems online with a credit card anyway then get them in game why would any one buy these online. The main reason these cards are sold is for someone or kids that don’t have a credit card, or as a gift. Maybe if you live in a country that NCsoft can’t do business with then this may be you only option to buy gems. But buying these cards online is a risk, you could get the card and it hasn’t been activated or it was activated and someone used the code already. These cards have a scratch off for the redeem code so if this has been scratch off when you receive your card you are pretty much screwed chances are the code was used. I have seen these card online and it is the same price you will pay if you buy gems in game $25 get you 2000 gems. If you find them for less be very carful this might be some kind of a scam.

I load in most places in 7 to 10 second it’s all about having an SSD and having windows stripped down for gaming and not running any apps in the background. Also SSDs are dirt cheap right now I just got one for my laptop a 240G for $89 at Microcenter only paid $69 for the 120G that’s in my gaming desktop but it was part of a bundled deal at Microcenter about a year ago. A 120G SSD is plenty for your OS, GuildWars, and a couple of other games and apps just don’t jam it full with every thing, get a second standard drive for every thing else. You can get a 1TB $59 for data like music and videos, also apps that don’t need the speed boost that the SSD gives

I agree with you all on the kicking issue there needs to be some control to the person that started the instance, at least they can’t be kicked if you find yourself in an instance were the starter has no clue there is always that option to just leave. Kicking the starter is just rude no matter what. I think a better way would be if a person was AFK for a period of time then there name in the party list changes color and the kick option is active. If you get someone that just doesn’t get it, then there is no kick option at all you will just have to leave the party instance and start over in a new group.

The problem with anyone from Anet that actually is working on the game, posting in this forum or any social media site is that to many immature people take was is said as gospel and a promise, as that’s what’s going to happen or be added to the game, when the dev clearly states, “we are working on”, “trying this” or “would like to add”. Also I have seen suggestion post where a rep from a game has posted in that suggestion thread “that’s a good idea I will pass it on to the devs” and a few weeks later the OP come back and post " I thought you guys like my idea how come it’s not in the game yet" It’s just that they are not ignoring the forums buy not posting to every thread, it’s just that they can’t and they can’t give out any info on anything till their positively sure it going in the game.

I can’t see any reason you would want to, the exchange rate would be so vastly different that what would you gain I know there are a few people that sill play both games but I don’t think the numbers are that high to support such a venture plus gold is so ezy to get in GW1, I just think this is a waist of your time

Anet can’t control the action of all players, if they could the game would by so crippled that it would not be worth playing. As for selling dungeon runs I see no problem with it it’s like selling runs in the original GW1 to get to a town or outpost you didn’t have yet
But like anything else in a game were you pay someone to help you threw a part of the game there will be issues that Anet can’t get involved in. So if your the person that is selling the run or the person paying for the run there are going to be people that won’t play nice and you have to just deal with and move on. There is nothing that can be done.

Same issue happening and I have a Radeon 7900. The really strange thing is that it shuts down my entire mobo and I have to do a hard reset of my PS to get my computer booting again. There are a LOT of problems with this game’s code that need to be addressed. I wish Anet would focus on a pure bug fix patch. I’m pretty sure the community wouldn’t mind one patch that doesn’t add content if it addresses the major issues plaguing the game

If this were a coding issue then more people would have this issue and wether you want to believe it or not the percentage is very low the problem is more likely a hardware issue. There are a number of reasons that cause PCs to lock up shut down or just act odd. Two of the main reasons a PC will just shut down it is, a bad or under rated power supply, and over heating. Most gaming PC require at least a 600watt supply, if you have anything less this is most likely your issue. Some people will disagree with this saying you don’t need that much and why waist the power. Well here the thing the PSU doesn’t run at a constant 600watts like a light bulb does it runs at the power that you system draw from it. So if you had a 1200watt supply and all the stuff in your system only draws 200watts that’s about all the PSU will draw form the wall socket maybe a little is lost in heat but that all depends on how efficient your PSU is. You may get by with less but I can almost guarantee that most of the shut down issue are PSU related so check you PSU get a good one, a name brand one. If you cheaped out on the PSU when you built your system then this is most likely the problem. Get rid of the $19.99 PSU and get a better one.
The next issue is over heating, do you have good airflow around your system do you have good airflow inside your system. How often do you open up you system and check for dust build up it doesn’t take much dust to clog the heat sink blades and reduce airflow. When is the last time you checked the heat sink compound on your CPU, this will dry out and loose effectiveness. I have seen factory built systems that were shipped with no heat sink compound at all. There are several youtube videos on how to reapply heat sink compound I recommend the pea method and never spread the compound out with a plastic card. let the pressure of installing the heat sink spread the compound you will get less bubbles. While you have the system case open reseat all cards and memory sticks reseating is just removing and reinstalling the card or stick.
The next issue is bad ram, check your ram with a good test app like Memtest this app needs to be burned to a cd and booted, it is the most efficient method for testing ram. It needs to run for several hours at least over night but 24 hours is best. Never use one of those windows based memory test apps they don’t work because windows and other app will have protected memory allocation that can’t be tested.
The next thing that can cause issues if hardware component failure while most components on your motherboard or cards can’t be visually inspected the most common component that can fail can be. Capacitors are the most common component that can fail, capacitors are small cylindrical and covered with a plastic colored sleeve. The most common color is light blue but could be other colors, also when a capacitor fails it has a tendency to want to explode, so capacitor are manufactured with a X.K,orY grooved into the top of the aluminum cylinder as a relief valve. If one fails the top of the capacitor will bodge up and sometime there will be a brown colored discharge from the grooves if you have a capacitor the does not look flat on top chances are it has failed in extreme cases the cylinder has raised up or blown apart. There are good youtube video that will show this and what to look for. If you have a bad cap then the best thing to do is replace the board or card.

If the box was shrink wrapped in plastic that not proof enough to NCSoft to get a refund or a new key because most retailer have shrink wrap machines to reseal returned merchandise for resale. NCSoft will not do any refunds, and I don’t think they will reissue a new key, on a boxed game all refunds and exchanges have to be handled by the retailer the game was purchased from. Also was the security tape intact on the box this usually a round piece of tape sometimes with printing on it. The point is if she got it as a Christmas gift there has been to much time elapse to get any kind of refund or replacement. Most retailers exchange policy is not much more than 30 days and sometime they will extend it if it was a gift but not by much.

Unfortunately Skype is the biggest resource hog VoIP client out there. Skype was never intended to be used for gaming, but in your case is it bogging down your internet because someone else is using it. Also do you live in a high populated area, if so most likely you are suffering from Wifi overload not enough wifi channels to handle all the internet traffic. Try if posable to run a cable to the system you play GuildWars on direct to your router.

If there was no key of any kind in the box well I think there has been to much time has passed to do anything about it. Just chock it up to a learning experience, check all the content in any boxed game before leaving the store in front of the clerk, that way if there is anything missing you could bring it to the attention of the clerk and exchange it right there. This is a real common problem and happens a lot, wether an employee of the store, someone comes into the store and grabs the key or it might have been missed in the manufacturing process.

The last word on the subject about guild halls and personal housing from Anet, and it was quite some time ago was that they were waiting for a time when they could do it right. so no new word on this. There is an issue with WiFi becoming congested since everything is becoming WiFi enabled now this is becoming a real problem especially in high populated areas if posable use a cable from you router to your PC also there are other devices that use the same frequencies as WiFi, Bluetooth, cordless phones, radio control toys, baby monitors just to name a few. One little know fact is that if your are a licensed amateur radio operator in the US you can legally use the same 2.4ghz frequencies as WiFi channels 1 threw 6 and use higher output power than a consumer grade WiFi router but most hams don’t do this because they have to use their call sign as the SSID and can’t use any encryption, but it’s fun to experiment.

This How to Geek site looks so bogus and unprofessional and they quote from another bogus site AVtest .org that is a paid to be tested site. So if your an AV dev with deep pockets and are willing to pay to be tested then you get a high rating also the CEO of this paid to test site is named Guido Habicht, are you going to trust a man by the name of Guido to decide witch antivirus to use. Just because they use the .org does not mean they are nonprofit and are doing these test out of the kindness of their hearts they are doing these tests, if they are really doing any tests, to make a buck. As for the second link this article had a little more credibility to it but when it come right down to it they got their data from another paid to be tested site AV Comparative. How long would these sites last if they gave Microsoft Security Essentials a high rating. This Article actually gave Avast a top score with which I agree with that was my first recommendation. Yes MSE is not the best but for the average PC user that uses his or her head when surfing or downloading then MSE is just fine.

It sounds to me like your local.dat file is getting corrupted some how, this file store all the client’s setting. This file is located in C:\Users\*\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2. Since this it a set location on your hard drive I would suspect that your hard drive is the issue. When was the last time you have run scandisk and defrag. if this drive is an SSD Drive then check the manufacturers web site for the correct utility app to check that drive Do Not run scandisk and defrag on an SSD Drive. Also do you let anyone else play the game on your PC maybe they are changing the keyboard setting in the game.

This is an internal guild matter and Anet probably will not get involved. The best thing to do is change the time you do guild puzzles and don’t announce it publicly. Hopefully you all have loyal members and these guildies don’t have friends inside the guild that will alert them to the time change. Also if they do do this again tell everyone involved to no react to them. Because this is just what they want to do is get the guilds attention and try to get you all angry. Because if you all get angry the they won and got a rise out of you.

I run Microsoft security Essentials on all my system and have never had a issue. For the average user that’s all that’s needed, but if you are one of those that visits funny sites and likes to look at those funny pics and videos, you may need more protection in more ways than one. Then by all means run the bloat ware heavy duty AVs.

Unfortunately one of the best AVs has turn into a bloat ware over rated piece of junk lately completely uninstall it and get Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials these are both gaming friendly AVs.

This game is unique in how it connect to the internet so if there is any glitch in you internet for any reason it will drop the connection and give you this error message. So if you have an app running in the background that grabs your internet this could cause the error. Disable all apps that need internet like IMs Weatherbug and Skype. Skype is the wurst for gaming it. It was never designed to be used for a gaming VoIP platform and doesn’t play nice with games. If you need VoIP for your gaming get one of the VoIP clients designed for gaming like TeamSpeak3, Ventrilo or Mumble. Most guilds run one of these VoIP servers. Also is your system malware, spyware, or virus free many of these infection could be high jacking your internet. There is a new issue that is popping up in the tech support realm lately, WiFi congestion everything is becoming WiFi enabled lately and may cause congestion in your area causing you internet to get slow or just stop. If you are on WiFi try running a cable from your router to your PC see if the problem goes away. What type of Wifi card is in your system if it’s a cheapo one. you got what you payed for some of these $5.99 WiFi dongles are the biggest pieces of junk get a new one. This problem could be between your PC and the game server packet loss is a big issue lately if you know how to correctly do a ping path or trace route, check to see if there are issues there. You will get a 100% packet loss on the final ip this is normal for security reasons you are looking for packet loss on one of the many nodes that you go threw to get to the game server. When is the last time you have done a complete reinstall of your system, I know this sound odd but sometime as a last resort you might want to do this reformat your hard drive, reinstall Windows and all drivers the install the game without installing any other apps or software.

There was this same thread back in the start of the game, how people thought that getting the game on disk would be better because if they had to reinstall the game they would not have to download as much. The point I tried to make at the time is that the game will change so much over time that the disks would become useless. All the disk happy people thought I was nuts. Well how nuts am I now, just back up the gw2 dat file after every update and that will fix all you disk happy people.

Well that would be the times I drop to around 30fps but I rarely play WvW and during world boss events it drops to around 30 but that’s playable for me.

I would not want it to pop up in front of me while I’m playing but a better way would be to buy a newspaper from an NPC. I think it would be cool to have a small child selling papers for a few copper in cities, towns, and outposts. But is there really a need for this, I’m. not sure there is. There are to many ways to get this info outside of the game and also at the start up screen.

I do not understand the point of a post like this. Is it a “haha” post or are you trying to call everyone complaining of lag liars or something? It’s not even helpful without any additional info like what world you are on or what times of day are you playing. Just saying," Nope no lag here" isn’t very helpful.

And yes, some shards are horrid. It’s funny that the past hour I’ve been running two accounts in the house on separate shards for Jade Quarry. One shard isn’t playable while the other was not lag free but a bit better. Whomever is Anet’s hosting, they are having serious server/connection issues.

I don’t think this was the intent but rather to say that the lag issue is not effecting everyone. I’m not having lag either but it may be a good idea to start a new thread for those that are lagging so that Anet can gather data on. The post should contain your system specs, ISP, how you connect to the internet wired(a cable connect to the back of your PC) or wireless(WiFi), your location (country, state and city), the ip of the server you are on, and a ping path or trace rout log, if you know how to correctly do one. There could be so many reason why some people are getting lag and some are not.

If you feel you need to pay a sub for this game set a side $15 a month and buy gems, problem solved.

Do you have any XP boosters, if so use them you can also buy them from the gem store, if your in a real hurry. Most of the champ train have been nurfed, EotM is your best bet. Have you done all the skill challenges most are quite easy.

You would be better off with an i5 your looking at about $50, more for a 4th gen i5. Maybe even less than that.

Was the guy actually griefing or just playing the game just because he was killing bosses doesn’t mean he was intentionally playing the game in a manner that was against the rules if you all turned an event into a gold farm then someone come along and does something that hinders that because they are just playing. This is why a lot of the gold farms have been nurfed in this game for just this reason. Don’t know what to tell you guys, this may not have been griefing and there for NOT reportable.

This has been suggested I one form or another in several threads the only way this can remotely work is. If they sold plots of in game land in the gem store unfortunately this idea and type of in game housing takes a lot of server space and they would have to pay for the added servers some how, i f you ever ran a Minecraft server then you know what I’m taking about.
