Legendaries aren’t the best weapons. They are equal to the best weapons, whatever those might be at the moment.

As for gearing/build that depends what you want to do with the character and/or play style preferences. Direct damage or conditions? Avoid damage or take the hits and heal? Group oriented or solo? That sort of stuff.

I do all of that, so I was wondering if there was a one best armor in the game

So, I bought GW1 a month or so back because I loved the 2nd one so much. However, when I started playing as an Ele with Ranger as secondary on Prophecies, I died constantly before finally giving up at the end of Ascalon. Now I want to try it again. The questions I’m asking you are: What are the best profession, secondary profession, and campaign to begin with?

I’m going to guess the next item will be a Monk outfit from Guild Wars 1. A version was datamined by That_Shaman. (It also mentions festival rewards).

I’d rather see some of that gear, though I understand the nostalgia for a monk outfit. Also, it’s not that I hate it, I just like the other stuff more.

The weapons look like they are mostly for the elite specializations so they probably won’t come out till after HoT.

I’m unconvinced Primordus could get there, I guess it depends how deep his tunnels run for him to travel beneath the seabed to reach it. It’s also a considerable distance from his starting location just under the east of FG. I know he will have travelled, but perhaps not that far.

I like the idea of returning the that area though

Get there? We never knew where he was to begin with. Just because his minions were directly under Tyria doesn’t mean he was. For example, Mordy’s minions in the Iron Marches, Zhaitan’s in Kryta, etc. I also heard a good theory that he IS the island(s). But then they would have moved at least a little by now… He’s likely in a volcano or something.

True but that doesn’t in any way confirm that new races are coming in the future. In fact, his remark that all a new race does is bring in ‘a racial skill or two and a little bit of story’ seems to point to the opposite.

Also, it was at least confirmed Revenant was last profession, unless something changes, which is unlikely.

I thought it was confirmed, are you sure they never said anything about new races? Either way, with HoT still not out it’s way too early for them to talk about the next xpac, but I can’t imagine not getting a new race. I can’t provide a source sorry, but I believe Wooden Potatoes mentions it several times?…

No it hasn’t, at all. Neither the fact that we will get more races nor the fact that we won’t be getting more professions is confirmed. That said, I consider it far more likely that we will get races instead of more professions.

The latest Anet has said on the topic is the following:

Shacknews: You’ve added a new profession, however you did hold off on adding a new race. What led to this decision?

Johanson: For this one, we looked at what we would get out of adding a new race and what benefit it actually brings to the players from a gameplay standpoint. It’s very limited in Guild Wars 2. A new race adds a racial skill or two and a little bit of story, but it doesn’t give that much meaningful gameplay in the grand scheme of things. The race is more context for the early story that you experience. So we wanted to focus things that would provide a lot more gameplay and address parts of Guild Wars 2 that we felt like we really wanted to be able to make a better experience and grow. So right now, we didn’t feel that a new race was a key need for the game, whereas the other things that we’re adding really provide fundamental building blocks for the future.

I find it rather odd that the reason for no new race is “It doesn’t bring anything new to gameplay”, considering this game is VERY skin-heavy.

I don’t think they said that. And if they did, they were just talking about THIS xpac, as this one is set to establish all mechanics currently not in game. Future xpacs are going to have races, and additions to new features coming in HoT like new masteries.

I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION! A fight with Mordy at the end that leaves him mortally wounded, but alive. Then a few episodes into LW S3 we finally kill him, and the rest of the season is cleanup until another ED makes a move. Then LW S4 then next expansion!!

I’d rather kill corrupted Trahearne (not sure how to spell his name, lol) than wound a dragon. That being said, if he’s mortally wounded, he gonna die by definition—no second fight needed :-)

1, you’re right mortally was not the right word.

2, I agree a corrupted Trahearne fight would be good, but more of a semi-final battle or if it’s a dungeon, the boss before Mordy. Just my opinion though.

I’m thinking it will be the majority of the Primordus xpac maps. Meaning it will be necessary for story meaning don’t make it ridiculous. HOWEVER! I would support ONE map from the islands that has only minimal story involvement being a hardcore map or something.

It kinda makes me lose hope in this community that so many of you are ok with idea of not killing Mordremoth, or at least concluding the Mordremoth story arch in HoT…. :’-(

I’m ok with a good story. Good story doesn’t necessarily mean swift demise of the next elder dragon. It can involve it, or it can be about something else.

This. I care more about a great story. HOWEVER, I think there are plenty of amazing opportunities for story and killing Mordy

Given the number of elder dragons it doesn’t make sense to not fight mordy in hot. Also the LW was a lead up to HOT if it doesn’t provide a conclusion then structurally it won’t make sense as well as there undoubtedly being a negative reaction from players.

Exactly, and I’m glad to hear the Mordy WILL be killed in the xpac, as it’s MUCH more logical.

Did they def confirm LW season 3? I know the last comment was they weren’t sure how they’d approach seasons again, but that was some time ago and I haven’t kept up beyond that announcement.

Speculation would leave me to expect any LW content to be post Xmas or early spring. They’d want a grace period for HoT to bed in and time for ppl to finish it. Plus we have Halloween and then Wintersday. That’s a lot going on for more content to then appear on top.

That’s to do with a refund grace period for the pre-purchase. Whilst I’d welcome such an early release date, I’d b surprised if it was much before end of Aug/early September based on where they are with releasing info and no sign of a beta weekend yet.

They said you can get a refund before the END of the pre-sale. So unless it’s going away from the shop, the only other way for a pre sale to end is to become a regular sale, meaning release.

They have not confirmed what will happen post-HoT with additional content drops. Either form or timings

They did confirm more LW, and that obviously would bridge the gap between elder dragon xpacs. Though actually having an elder dragon fight it unexpected.

The LW continues into HoT areas. To my undrestanding without HoT you will not have access to new LW episodes either. Thus further LW can be seen as part of HoT expansion.

oh, I see! Players will continue to get them for free on release as they used to, but since it’s in xpac areas you still need the xpac. Thus, by that logic I’m not being tricked in buying the xpac! When will the LW begin? 2 weeks after HoT release, restarting bi-weekly releases?…

One school of thought is that people will rush to him too quick and spoil the fight. Another is that they want to give people time to develop the requisite masteries to defeat him. Then release the fight or a build up + fight as a sep DLC. I’ve also seen people say that Zhaitan was taken down too quickly and they’d prefer a longer build up to an Elder Dragon this time

Perhaps we don’t even fight him although that wouldn’t be a wise move imo.

Personally, I’m not sure if I’d prefer him in the expac or not, although the impact might be greater in a single post-launch content drop.

I agree Zhaitan was too fast, but Mordremoth has ALREADY been more due to LW. Also Zhaitan seemed too fast because the base game story was release all at once (to be expected however). I think depending on the amount of story in the xpac (which we’re lead to believe is a lot, possibly even more than LW S2), the buildup will be just fine. This is why I sincerely hope we fight him in the xpac.

I just read in another thread we won’t get to fight Mordremoth in this expansion?!? How does that make ANY sense?? He’s clearly IN the Jungle for starters. And I can’t even begin to express how lame it would be NOT to fight him!! And when would we then?!? If it’s in LW, then people will just wait for that won’t they? What WOULD be the final boss fight? If he isn’t in the Jungle and/or we don’t kill him, what’s the point of this expansion? I mean, if there’s not enough time in the story to work it up all the way, then release some more LW!!! Can Anet confirm any of this?

That’s not true because that was some sort of expedition group, the main base always stays in that one spot. So actually, they’ll need our help more than ever!

I’d read up more about them. They’re nomadic so there’s no central place.

Then why is there a big central thing? And it that moves, how come it’s in the same place 2 years in a row? The crashed things are just a few of their standard ships.

Please, no. Just no. This annoying scavenger hunt for these things actually made me annoyed at the new Lion’s Arch, despite considering it a better version than the ones I’ve seen previously.

And then I got to that one on the flower ledge that you can’t shoot unless you hug the wall by it and shoot at the edge (which really doesn’t look like it should work), asked for a bit of help, and then ended up having to go the Dulfy to get that one. I pointed out how annoying it was and got flak for it. I ended up basically using the guide to find a few more and then got sick of it. It just wasn’t fun, the only reason I even considered it was for the item that eats Dragonite ore.

Seriously, just because I can just look at the wiki or “Dulfy” to figure out something doesn’t mean I want to do that. But that looks like the only way to get it done reasonably quick, which is a sign something was done wrong.

But, clearly I’m just an idiot whose brain doesn’t fully work.

No, I didn’t mean more scavenger hunts! Just more story regarding how they got in and pushing them back and all. In whatever way the devs do this, likely just regular combat.

Queen’s Jubilee was an event in Divinity’s Reach, yes. Last year it wound up merged with the Bazaar of the Four Winds, having the Crown Pavilion open at the same time as the Labyrinthine Cliffs. Since the Zephyrites are kind of crashed now in Dry Top, it seems more likely to me that the Queen’s Jubilee will happen without their involvement.

Oh, I get it! Sound fun! I bet they’ll be merged again with Queen’s Jubilee people helping the surviving Zephers from that group get back to their main home and then celebration.

I have really, really enjoyed hunting those baby Karkas, especially because the Karka as an enemy fell pretty new to me since I didn’t play when the big Southsun release happened. The main point I want to make is I hope the near future updates will bring us more info about this invasion, though I recommend not making it a one-time event like LW season 1, because like that season it would make new players feel left out and confused (I feel that way about LW S1 and it’s not good). Basically what I’m saying is I really enjoyed this, and I’d like to see it unfold into a larger story eventually concluding, but add it as a permanent thing or even a story chapter, just do something to not make it a one time event.

we know there are AT LEAST two. In one stream they showed an area that was proven with 100% certainty not to be Verdant Brink. I expect 3-4, while future expansions will have upwards of 5. Either way, this particular expansion is more features being set up FOR more expansions, and more to do in general. So, though I’d be very disappointed if VB was all we were getting, I’d still have bought the pack.

I know we still have 5 dragons, but I’m just saying this now so the writers can consider it. After the dragons are dead magic becomes uncontrollable. Evil as they were, the dragons DID regulate magic. So the Pact (or whatever is around then) thinks about some artifact or creature that could fairly regulate magic and end the chaos that has broken out. They decide the bloodstone shards are best, and we get 5 xpacs going after the 5 pieces. Then some segways into Elona, then Cantha, etc etc, and possibly the next Guild Wars gets started somewhere along the way?… Also, Living World seasons in between xpacs to Segway stories. Even now, for the dragons. a season or two between each dragon, and then each bloodstone xpac, and so on basically forever. Yes, these are necessary, because think of this: Without the LW segways, if we went from Zhaitain’s demise to the Jungle would you understand what’s going on? No. Also, perhaps Anet may decide to ignore the uncontrolled magic stuff and go for the second Guild War. I think they could and should do both. I have some more details I might post if anyone is really interested.

I’m genuinely curious (and glad to see something besides all the over-entitled QQ about the expansion…) Where and what do you think this impending doom over Divinity’s Reach is going to be?

Mordremoth?
I think he has better, closer and more tempting targets in the Grove and Rata Sum. Rata Sum because of all the techno-magic that the Asura have there wouldn’t just be a snack, it would actually be a full meal for him. And the Grove because… well, Sylvari…

Jormag?
I think he (and the other Elder Dragons) is too far away to really to really threaten Divinity’s Reach. And in Jormag’s case, his forces would have to go through then Kodan, Norn and Centaurs first. And speaking of Centaurs…

Centaurs?
They have been fighting Humans for hundreds of years and while they could probably do a lot of damage to the surrounding area if they gathered all their forces for one huge attack, I just don’t see them being able to overcome DR’s walls and defenses. At least, I doubt they would have better success then the charr did against Ebonhawke, and the charr have /much/ better war machines…

Internal strife?
I honestly think if there is any real threat to Divinity’s Reach, it’s from the internal power struggle between the Queen and the Council of Ministers. But that is a struggle for control, and neither side wants to see DR destroyed.

So again, I’m curious… Where do you think this impending doom for Divinity’s Reach is coming from?

PRIMORDUS!!! No one has a friggin clue where he is, just that he’s PROBABLY still SOMEWHERE underground. He could rise up anywhere in the world and in the process destroy the land around. As in the ground is falling sort of thing, like if he came up right under DR it would cave in or something. In fact, nowhere is safe with that logic… AAAAAARGHHHH RUN FOR YOUR LIVE PEOPLE NOWHERE IS SAFE

Here’s my math on the Ultimate pricing:

Character Slot: $10
Mini Revenant Rytlock: $5 (based off normal mini pricing not considering exclusive factor)
Revenant Finisher: $10 (again not even considering exclusive factor)
Mordremoth’s Bane Decoration: Nothing like this in game so I’ll just say $10
Glider Skin: Nothing like this in game so I’ll just say $10
Gems: $50
Expansion itself: 40-50, I’ll even say $40 for the final number

$135 then by my math, not counting the base game. So we aren’t being cheated, it’s just new players get more
