oh thank god. Now they only need to bring back the old bristleback skill.
It is true it wasn’t good but having the burst in the F2 skill is just awfull.

I made some tests, F2 barrage is way better because over all damage from bristle bleed wasnt that effective on my condi ranger. They just need to fix aiming issue and it will be amazing. Swapping would only hide the issue of Barrage ^^

I love the spike barrage, it has way more use then previous skill.
I’ll give anet time to fix this issue, because AA works.
And since this is not ground projectile, it’s clearly a bug ^^

Issue:
- buffet should track target and lock once it starts casting the first windblow damage
- F2 skill should be casted on center of the target, if there is no target, it should cast it on current location
- F2 skill is taking to long, casting time should be reduced for 50%, pet flying away and casting that area of burning takes to long
- pet auto attacks are DISASTER.

Feedback score: 1/5 will never take it over already existing pets.
why only 1/5?

  • 1/1 point for concept
  • 0/4 points for realisation.

Trapper was destroyed with removal of ground targeting, sadly but true, my favourite most fun way of playing gone. I still don’t agree by removing that trait, and keeping falling damage. blah.

Shout Rework that solves Smokescale fiasco

You would basically be forced to pick shouts to make your pet meet new standards.

But i would support other type of idea, which would be empowering defined pet skills on their next shout use. I could see that happen with new beast mastery trait or something.
Example:
merge Natural Healing + Wilting Strike
Move honed axe on Natural Healing place
Create new Trait: Empowered creature: healing and utility shouts empower next pet attack/abilities, elite shout empowers 3 next pet attacks/abilities.

But since this topic is touch also about reworking pet control this suggestion is looking promising:
Except for the toggle skill, i don’t know how to perfectly solve this problem, but i could see ranger with 5 skills instead of 4, as it is shown under IDEA1.

I believe watching the topic from developer’s side of view is as important as matter of balance. As a developer of the game, you want to make changes that are both logical and social-friendly.
If you argument the change with “I want the ability swapped because I want others to use their preferred ability in a clunky way, not myself” – that’s nowhere near solid.
If that is your only ground of defense the ability might never be swapped back. Simply because as a developer – swapping it back might mean pleasing you and displeasing others – which makes it an unnecessary change that will cause yet another backfire of people who wanted the other option – which will make you drop the idea as a developer. Why? Because people that hated you for the change will not thank you back and only new ones will appear.

I didn’t forget what we were talking about. I was trying to explain things (that do include the topic) to you from other perspective than yours and without success because you didn’t even listen and took everything as an attack. And I believe you still think I want to keep the Smoke Assault. Just as you keep missing my message the whole time.

Since others already provided much appreciated support – it doesn’t really matter anymore. It shows that vast majority, veteran players included, want to have it swapped back and even the list of pros dominated the list of cons.

I just wanted to try one last time to make you understand what part of the discussion you didn’t understand despite my issues as you called it.

Do you even listen to yourself? Please, this time, i sincerely ask you personally, to go back, from the beginning of this thread, and read my suggestions, and read your suggestion. Please STOP the bullkitten man, poor devs have to read wall of text of nonsense. You didnt come here to state what and why is your argument. Specialization on 3rd line only[WHY?]

As titles says, why do we have to use specialization exactly on 3rd line? I like to have my stuff organized. Other trait lines can be used as we want, but the same rule does not apply for specialization.

What’s the point?

Can we have that fixed? It’s clearly not intended.

I was expecting this feedback about only 1 specialization
But now that i think about it, isn’t always having 1 specialization kind of boring?
Having 2 specializations and 1 core would be way more amazing.

If we keep the idea of having only 1 specialization, i would love to have released 1 more core trait line, so we can have a lot more diversity between choice of 2 core and 1 spec.

For the general population smoke assault on F2 is the better decision. For top tier PvP either is situational. It is a real shame we can’t control every pet skill.

Exactly opposite, F2 smoke field you meant to say, while majority even expressed that in poll.

Pets should land 100% auto attack when they attack.
Jaguar and RedMoa are the only auto attack pet that are nicely programmed.

Every thing else is a mess.

Do other classes have to permanently CC to hit their targets? Do other classes lose a huge chunk of theis DPS by not having their targets slowed? Pets should be able to reliably hit moving targets. Period.

Ever played a full melee class/build? Kiting doesn’t work only against pets. Some attacks are hard to land on moving targets, so yes, sometimes other classes have to use cc to land their stuff too. And other classes have to attack actively to deal damage. If ranger’s pets were able to constantly hit moving targets, it would be kind of passive dmg. And if they hit, they can hit quite hard (at least some of them). Strong passive dmg without the need to think about it, is not a good idea imo.

This does not mean, there is no need for improvements. Many pets are completely useless and broken and it is not just because of bad AI. Other pets – even if they need some improvements too, like more control or better protection against aoe/cleave – can be very useful, if used right. Yes, they need help of the ranger to be useful – and that’s how it should be. Fix problems – and there are plenty – but don’t make pets “autopilot”.

Yeah but here we talk about simple misses that did not include dodging, a simple walk away, does that look ok to community? What good does pet do if it misses 95% of hits on target that DOESN’T even try to avoid attacks:)?

The way that jaguar hits, every pet should do it. Accuracy. Accuracy my friends, it’s not about damage, or dps in general. It’s about if pet calculates perfect hit, they should land it, not try blindly on the edge. Attacks should be in range, non-avoidable damage if pet did calculate available distance to hit target. player should either dodge or block, but not for sure use auto attack and miss it, while enemy simply walks away.

I wonder if anyone could make a video of this test to put on the bug forum? I would do it myself, but cannot access the game for another month.

There is a small ledge near the Light Golem in HoTM at Elsinarr Battlements (In the picture) and it would be perfect for displaying how the Bristleback cannot hit targets.

Should be able to jump up on it, swap to the Bristleback and then sic it onto the Light Golem.

Anyway, it would display the bug nicely. Thanks in advance if anyone does this.

Can do that today after WvW raid and GvG.
Will drop it in new thread and link it to thise one.

Yes – that is an amazing argument that clearly shows how having field on F2 is more useful because it gives something that Assault does not.

After a good night sleep, I can see there’s no point to being hotheaded, so I apologize to you and others if I made a huge wall of text that may have not been needed.

Having the field for mitigation purposes is also something I want as on demand under my control. Not In PvE or PvP but in WvW where I spend the rest of my time in. Assault has good 2 sec which is immediate, but the field lasts 5 sec although it would be most effective if the enemy or the smokescale doesn’t go outside of it.
Both sides have merit of course. But because I have further reasons as explained in posts before than that for the smoke field, that is what I want for my F2.

Smoke field in PvE and WvW have great uses, even if it means having me press K, swap pets, F2 and swap pets again. That’s not too hard for me and is a complete workable tool that’s not too hard to put off like it sounds.
Counter argument would be, why don’t I come in with my fully geared Thief or Engineer? Well, Ranger is my main atm. If I didn’t have smoke field, I’m still not going to change to Thief or Engineer for the sake of it if there are other Thief/Engis in the group I’m hanging out with. But if I did have a choice to apply that smoke field through my Ranger, even if there was a Thief/Engi, I can help augment any down time the Thief/Engi might experience because that is always possible. Having the option to provide a smoke field when no body has it or as a supplementary addition to what the group has, that is something I would love to be able to do.

If the group I’m with could really use some smoke fields and no one was a Thief or Engineer? I will swap of to one of mine because even if smokescale had smoke field as F2, the others do a better job of it, I won’t argue that because that’s the truth. Smoke fields in general are hugely desired over mesmer’s Veil and it would be a great option to have for the Ranger. Not because I value smoke field and would like Ranger to be able to perform as well as a Thief, but because I love playing Ranger and would like to be able to have the option to have a smoke field under my resume. That’s a completely selfless legit thing to want as a Ranger.

Tragic was trying to say s/he enjoys blobbing, open world events in zergs, and karma train nothing wrong with that, but that’s why s/he thinks on the way s/he does. I totally understand him/her. Nothing matters in this type of things except DPS and dmg on demand when it doesn’t matter when to release just to deal dmg . Now i see the clear picture.

Me? A troll? I post all the time on the Ranger forum, and I don’t troll. Look at my history. I simply disagree with the notion that this should be surprising. I see the pet as “extra” damage or utility, that we have to work for. It is not free. I never said the pet is “30%” of a ranger’s dps. Who said that? I don’t think that’s true at all.

I just don’t understand the shock and outrage that the pet can’t do much on its own. I mean, it really has been this way for 3 years. I am not trolling. I wish someone would back me up on this. We all know the pet has been like this since launch, right?

We have to work with what we are given. I don’t like it, its just how it is. If we want the pet to hit, we have to create situations where it can hit. Whether that means CCing our opponents or using skill to speed the pets up, or using pet swap when we are getting beat into the ground by something.

I understand this thread is about pet “efficiency,” but how can that be separated from the actual use of the pet and still be relevant in any way? If you say to a developer. “Hey morons! You screwed up, the pet can’t hit anything on it’s own, because the AI sux.” Won’t they just reply, “Yes, and? You’re not supposed to use it like that.” Is that not the end of the story?

If a developer comes on here and says, "Yeah, this is a problem and we are going to look into it. I’ll gladly change my position that this is not working as intended. Why do I have to be a troll because I think this is how it is supposed to work? I didn’t say it was a strong mechanic. I actually think it is a little lack-luster.

I might have been too hard on the OP. For those of us that have been playing Ranger for the last three years, this is obvious. Right? Is any veteran Ranger really surprised by this? If they wanted to change this, they could just make the pets move faster.

If pet is in range, and if target simply WALKS away, there is no excuse for pet to not hit the target with auto attack, i’m sorry, if you think this is correct way, you contradict yourself on every line of what you’ve wrote.

I’m veteran and i have a lot of knowledge about my class, but i’m sorry i just don’t agree with you on 90% of the stuff you just said. I did know pets were weak, but i’ve expected changes, FOR LONG time now. And now that HoT is here, and there is room for changes, i did bring this up. Most of people don’t know that pets are in this bad position.That’s why there is no changes and people are “happily-disappointed”.

And if you think pets are just “extra”, then you probably mean the same as mesmer, if they are there auto attacking you dont care, unless u shatter them and you miss or it buggs out. Comparing pet with mesmer is so wrong on so many levels, but that’s exactly what you’ve said, i just made and example of your thinking.

And yes, i still count you as a troll, because you instead of looking the data, and saying omg, how could i keep up all this years with such horrible stats, you say to yourself, “ok, move on i’ll just keep using what i have”.. well bravo what else i can say. There’s only one flaw in what you are saying.
… You can control a smoke field if you can use your pet correctly just the way you can control the assault.

There’s no difference.
The difference is that you can use field out of combat and assault you cannot.
From this perspective it makes better use of having the field.

From PvP where we Rangers have most of our DPS stable – having an on demand burst is just as important. Some players will have different play-styles and search for key elements somewhere else and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Having your pet missing the right time for assault can mean loss of 4K burst. And for that I’m fine having it the current way. If we get smoke-scale, I’ll change my builds so that I maybe get to play around blinding styles more.
I’m fine with both of them and both make sense.

From PvE it doesn’t matter at all because it’s not your job to bring smoke field so you just might have it random and you want the pet to use assault as often as possible – so having it on random makes no difference as having it on demand.

All this topic is a pure matter of crossed opinions. Both are correct.
If you want to argument it with something solid you have to state statistical amounts of players (newbies included) or support your statements somewhat like I did
(out of combat use that promotes having on demand smoke field).

That’s incorrect.

You can control smoke assault, but you cannot control smoke field on passive, i’ll drop you two examples why one way works and not the other way around:

Example F2 is smoke field:
I keeping pet on passive few seconds, making player unable to respond, you drop F2 poison field, blast it or leap through it, then send my pet to attack. As soon as you are in Assault range, you press F1 again, your pet performs Assault. This way you used F2 smoke field efficently and smoke assault perfectly landed every single damage, pets next attack will be knockdown, and potentially you can deliver a lot more damage, since pet cannot decide for smoke field in that time frame. Your pet rotation with this setup is 100% efficient.

Example F2 is smoke assault:
I keep pet on passive, make player unable to respond again, you drop F2 to burst that target, as soon as your finishes F2 ability, it will cast smoke field and lose 3 seconds of potential attacking while casting that field. Instead of smoke field you could knockdown or hit your target with 2x auto attack, which can hit your target for another 3,5k damage if both hit, but since your pet did cast field [it always does] it will make you miss that time frame. Keep in mind in 3 seconds player is long far away from your pet making him kite your enemy, you lose extra 10 seconds for that matter. Good job Mr.Tragic you just lost a full rotation, potential of more then 3k damage, and 0 pressure because of one skill that barely hit 4k. Congretz.

Your build now has no diversity, no support chance in any type of environment, and your pet is 50% of combat duration runnin while it should be hitting.

CUZ kitten LOGIC, people only want that 4k burst that’s all, and what they don’t know they lose a lot more then 4k burst+cc+pressure

You forget that PvE is not only Open world Mr.Tragic.

  • PvE standards meet WvW
  • PvE standards meet Fractals
  • PvE standards meet Raids
  • PvE standards meet Dungeons
  • PvE standards meet OpenWorld

Sometimes you have to see bigger picture, if you can’t see it on your own, i’m here to help you out Mr.Tragic. And also, please, if you don’t support your team on open field, that doesn’t mean that i shouldn’t. Right?

I feel like throwing this here for a little laughter:

  • You can’t call Sniper a sniper, unless he does damage from no where.
  • Rename Sniper to, Announcer, and let them shout 5 seconds before they shoot. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY IMA SHOOOOT NOW!
  • Also implement matrix slow motion bullet, that shoots so slow that you get disconnect before bullet hits you.
  • when ever they shoot, they need to sit out for 30 seconds

I agree as well, although an extra half-second or so on their ground-arrow attack time(The time it takes to expand to full length) would be nice do make ddging a little bit easier.

Personally I have trouble when facing groups of 3 snipers+ and several mordrem because I just get nuked down instantly. I know there is a telegraph, and it is a l2p problem, but a little more leeway would be awesome

Would it help if there was perhaps an icon above the head of the shooter so that you could more easily see and react to the actual threat?

Literally, do you need warning “Cliff ahead, get ready your glider!” as well?
Are you guys really such weaklings ?

Suck it up, other ways all i can say, master yourself in tyria, and come back when you’ll have more control on your character. Bohhhh >_>

You are not experienced, that’s why you demand this changes to stay.
Please learn to use your pet. And you’ll see that even with F2 smoke field, you CAN use assault on demand.

I admit, that i’m more on forum last two days, then in the game, why?
I desperately want to contribute as much as I can NOW, when content is fresh, when GW2 has time to make changes and fixes, if we don’t, ranger will stay like that for months.

Give it a few weeks. Sure – if we’re still in a bad state, you can cause an uproar. But the expansion has only been out for one week and everyone is freaking out.

Going to be investigating this. It may require some change to Smoke Assault, since the active skills are intended to be a little stronger than the passive skills.

PLZ don’t change, lots of rangers like it the way it is now.

Who is that lots?
I and 99% of other rangers want a skill that would make quality of ranger better, having F2 smoke assault does bring nothing but burst. Ranger need fields on demand as frequent as they were before the swap! I don’t know why we don’t just swap back and it’s done. Dmg is already nerfed and weak, and that’s it…

Tiger can hit 4k dmg, and no one says anything. My topic is clearly showing how little people know about pets.

You and the 99% of the shouters that created this post before even giving the cahnged smokecale a chance. screaming loaud doesnt make you a majority nor does it makes you right, Comparing tiger to smokescale is ridiculous. Smokscalre is a tanky pet that can survive almost everytnig with the best burst of all pets, it will always land, works with tount, great combo for might stacking with WHAO, and a takedown. I know about pets atleast as you do if not much more, I have played with tiger alot, its good but it doesnt come close to fill the smokescale role as the second hitter with burst on demand that always lands and godly survivebility. Also, the smoke fields during battle helps alot, 5 sec smoke field every 16 sec.

1) Sadly you are trying to demand an Smoke assault on demand F2, while we already have that if pet is used correctly and you can still have smoke field on F2. But as it looks you did not play ranger long enough to know the basic tricks about pet.

2). Comparing tiger to smokescale is a very viable argument. While tiger is also tanky, and while tiger provides 2x more burst on demand then smokescale i can laugh to further of your comments that have no technical coverage.

3) you try to make me look bad when i clearly shout and i am MAD and i admit it:) But that doesn’t prove anything. While I CAN cover my arguments with data, and experience, while your arguments have no ground, no data, no wider view on class and specifically nothing to bring to the class. Every thing you demand is already there. Just stop trolling because you make damage to the ranger community.

Bravo But do you really know that much? Or you simply say it to make it more verbal? Do you even hear yourself? You proclaim yourself more experienced with tiger then me, and expansion is out since 23th oct. I personally hit 4,2k hours on all my rangers over two accounts, you maybe know a lot, I don’t know you, but you can’t come on forum, and proclaim yourself a smarter ranger then some one that surprisingly is dedicated to this class more then 99% of people to the game.

I’m tired to argue with people that don’t look wider on the class…
Majority of GW2 community search for this kind of setup:
Zerker, dps pet, dps weapon, no survivability, no sustain, dps dps dps… and then u die before you even start the fight, and few moments later we see rent posts on forum about broken stuff..

Elitists make people see wrong picture, but when you get covered by data you get surprised and you can’t believe that you lived a lie.

Balance updates and community morale

Their task is to create something that is fun, but also balanced. They’d want to distance themselves from the community so that the passion of the players doesn’t influence their design decisions. It can be easy to give a class too much because it would be cool.

While I’m not a fan of the word “impossible” it’s definitely not possible to indulge everyone.

I also agree with the OP. Honestly, not sure what to think of the whole matter, but what can you do.

There’s a lot of things that can always be improved, not just for Rangers. Fixes are always needed everywhere and as they say “God works in mysterious ways” (even though I’m no believer this fits) I am inclined to compare it to devs.

Sometimes it boggles the mind why some decisions have been made over others, but on the other hand I’m glad they listen to what we say to some extent (and I hope nothing’s going to change about that, although I have reasons to believe even that depends heavily on us).

Constructive criticism is the key and as long as we keep it in perspective we might achieve good results. I believe, that if we provide the right “why” and “how” they would listen. I mean, why trying to prove you’re almighty when you’re not and there are people with a point, so why not listen?

I have to say I knew games where developers just took one’s money. I really hope it won’t become the same here.

Fun and balanced? WOW that’s a kick in rangers face right there.

Movable spirits, gone.
Throw-able traps, most fun and satisfying balanced thing ever, GONE.
Hide in plains trait – (stealth on hard cc 60 sec) GONE
Off-hand-axe-training- GONE.. moved to one of the worst trait lines ever and nerfed
Druid heal potential – gone
Smokescale on demand utility that would bring diversity to builds- GONE
25% ninja nerf on rapid fire that no1 talks about after trait changes – GONE
Bugged pets that only vissualy display condition damage, and dont apply dmg for real.
Disrespectful pet mechanics for 3.5 years.

HOW is this FUN when ALL FUN is GONE, in matter of HOURS.
PLEASE WAKE UP.

THE ONLY thing that is good change for ranger before HoT, was QUICK DRAW.
ONLY ONE. NONE OTHERS. Take it as bad as it sounds, because this IS ranger current state. We did get HaO change back because we did fight for this changes for weeks.

So sad that we have to go on forums, and prove our points, while this is duty of developers and testing teams.. which i question if we have one at all.

Smokescale… don’t get me started here… 90% of the rangers (poll data) don’t understand the F2 swap and want smoke cloud back. Irenio is “investigating” it.

What is your point here, can you colaborate?
What do we don’t understand?
That smoke on demand is better then burst?
Ranger has burst, but doesnt have survivability/sustainability compared to other classes.

No matter what you think, smoke field is a must to be an on demand skill.
While on demand smoke assault is nice, I and every loyal ranger knows,
that smoke field on demand brings 400% more play to the game then just one burst skill that doesn’t bring anything to build diversity.

yes 90% of the people that voted for F2 smoke assault to stay, don’t know that you can actively use smoke assault without using F2 key, but you can’t use smoke field actively. For that, i’ll let you brain storm, and play ranger a bit to discover why.

Ranger is a lot more advanced class then any one trick pony classes. People just don’t see it.

Please keep the f2 how it is.. It makes the pet extremely good for hybrid specs in pvp (because you can decide when it bursts) The smoke field doesn’t do much for the player... and the pet is already pretty tanky.

Ps. The druid is great Irenio, people complaining just aren’t playing it right.

Smoke Field on auto-cast harms the game, it automatically covers IMPORTANT fields (water covered by your automatic smoke field, no thx). It NEEDS to be on F2.

bleh on the smokefield. i actually like the smoke assault, to be honest blinding bolts n stealth vs when u want to burst with your pet. ill always go for the burst and i f i want to stealth and blind, ill roll thief. i want to fight with my pet not hide with it…keep your combos to yourself!

You don’t know that you can actually use Smokescale – smoke assault can be triggered on demand even if it’s not F2, right? This F2 pet swap shows, how little our community knows about our pets and skills on demand.

Despite its DMG being nefed it still has one of the best and quickest DPS among the pets. For that reason I want to keep it as is. I personally feel i have far less use of the smokefield as active skill. It serves well as the pets own defence.

You clearly did not do your homework to at least read my threads to see the DPS.
And serves what exactly, no1 attacks our pets, and time that field lasts without being on demand is absurdly hopeless and pointless.

I would suggest you to go on ranger forum, and brows my threads, you could use some knowledge before you try to suggest something that has no constructive data to cover your argument.

F2 shouldn’t be about which ability is strongest. F2 should be about which ability benefits most from being manually controlled.

I understand them, something really bad is less frustrating then something broken.

It’s the ground line that’s the bigger headache. And besides, I don’t have room to slot those abilities for general content, there’s more important stuff. I don’t want to have to build around one type of mob.

It’s is safe to say, that you try to overcome the damage by sustain, and clearly try to stand on the damage and play a hero. Sorry son, you’ll have to accept the fact that you can’t stand there, period, end of story.

Snipers are the one that give quality to the content, and line damage is the only thing that i would support Anet from people trying to nerf that.

like if they can’t use their line-damage move until 10-15 seconds into combat, or they have to hit you a few times to build up a meter, or if any basic attack could interrupt them from doing it, or something. It should not be their bread and butter attack in its current form.

Are we serious right now? You literally suggest a full combat destruction and decreasing level of pve quality.

  • Change your gear
  • Change your build
  • Get out of your comfort and start team working
  • Stop being a hero that stands on the line trying to survive[any gear]

@Devs, can we just close this thread, because it’s clearly trying to downgrade the content rather then adapting to one. This post has no constructive argument, it’s a pure rent. Ty.

Don’t downscale the damage.
Don’t change, specially don’t change snipers, because they are how every mob should be, they shoot arrows that matter, they dodge, they reposition with stealth and they defend themselves in melee range.
Don’t change anything.
Let them people stop the afk habit.
Let them force to dodge, move around and think.
Let them think what builds they bring.
Let them be forced to help others to succeed.
This is challenging group content that requires you to think.
So many people complain because they cannot slack, and that’s.
This is not by any mean a troll post, i’m serious because i see so many kids renting about content that should hit changes to entire Tyria.

Welcome to content where your actions matter.
I personally think, that GW2 did start a new chapter of quality with HoT!

Don’t even dare to suggest any changes, if you are not trying to dodge than you shouldn’t be in maguuma on the first place. If you still run zerker gear, that’s your problem, you play a risky game.

Do you hate them because you want to afk? And you cant?

They are amazing and they make you dance!
They make you dodge, and not stand on their trail.
They defend them selves.
They reposition themselves.

Thanks for the numbers. I’m wondering how owl and leopard would do, since they’ve got F2 snares, I remember testing long ago and leopard did really well.

Check the videos u’ll laugh, or try for yourself. If human is not using F2 skills on electric or fire wyvern, they literally cannot kill moving target EVER..

Just yesterday I ran a test with the Electric Wyvern without Beastmastery against that golem and it took him more than 6 minutes to kill it. I made a video but haven’t uploaded it anywhere yet, but the state of pets is absolutely disastrous.

Current state of our pets is absurd.
And i’m uploading 6 videos, of how our pets are incapable of doing simple tasks.
Who ever is working on this pets, and thinks that this is ok pet state then… i’m really concerned for Esports and GW2 future.

In my previous testing pets were tested how fast they kill Heavy golem with or without F2 skills and i did share ONLY the best result. Since a lot of you requested a test on moving target, i’ve ran some tests. I did pick only the best pets of its genre! On first and 2nd test i was running with beast mastery, so pets are quick!

I’ve found out shocking news, and by watching what our pets do, how they attack I was shocked that i’ve never took a moment and see how bad our pet state is IT IS ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING, developers, i know you read this, and take a good look into this stats and videos:

Let me stress out that no matter if pet is UTILITY or DPS oriented, there should be no pet that takes longer then 40-45 seconds to kill an enemy without resisting. This topic will also show why do we need 2 active skills as default mechanic.

  • F2 very bad skill, if pet is not LITERALLY in same height and slightest object will make shots obstructed, pet will 100% miss all shots. Video to cover the problem of 100% miss if target is not on same height https://youtu.be/ZJ6GNlokc20
  • Good aiming of auto attacks
  • If obstructed by object, pet will go in melee range, position on the back of the enemy, and start attacking. WHAT Q_Q?
  • If obstructed by terrain they wont move or do anything, they will keep attacking the ground causing obstructed.
  • This pet has decent ranged behaviour, but due to problems with F2 and obstruction problem, this pet is very unreliable outside of flat areas. Totally useless in pve if you don’t carefully position your pet, but even then if enemy moves, you’ll make 0 dmg.

  • F2 casted on current pet position makes it fail to hit target. F2 is to slow, takes to long to perform, and stays for to short duration.
  • 95% Auto attack miss, to long hit animations and chains.
  • Wing buffet(knockback wing blow) takes to long to cast, it doest tract the target. In my opinion Wyvern should tract target until first wing swing.

  • F2 is pretty accurate and responsive can’t add much to that.
  • Problem with Quickening Screech[speed buff] is that they force themselves to go in range with enemy, they chase for a while, and then perform speed buff, then chase again, AND then attack. Which is kind of pointless. This changes needs to be done before Esports..
  • As video shows toooo much dancing around enemy without doing any damage, flying around in number 8 making them waste time with performing very long animation.
  • PATH FINDING CATASTROPHE, due to “PER 1 sec TICK” path finding, this doesnt look that bad on bird, but it really is crucial, because bird attack animations take so long to perform, it makes path tracing almost fluent, but it’s not.

  • This is one of the best designed pets, and this is how pets should be: accurate, sticky, big enough attack range for close range melee attacks.
  • F2 all pets quite accurate love it
  • auto attacking is amazingly accurate, this is how all pets should be!
  • Look how cats change direction when they perform attack on the end of the cast, making them good at what they do.
  • PATH still crucial, but since cats are accurate with auto attacks, it’s not that crucial, but still.

ALSO pointless things i’ve noticed during the tests:

  • Ranged pets, if they hit obstructed auto attack, they will go in melee range, position behind enemy, and start performing ranged auto attack.
  • Pets often interrupt themselves by chasing for 10-15 seconds to get in melee range, and then perform utility skill, etc birds cast speed, smokescale casts smoke field and tons of others.
  • Pet F2 or actives, leaps, wyvern buffet or F2 skills, siamoth charge etc.. should attack player location on the end of the cast. What now happens is, we press skill, they store location, start performing attack, player long gone left that position, they charge that area and miss 100%. How we need to change it? Press skill, they perform attack, after full cast is done, get player location, charge that area!
  • Path finding is literally checking every tick.. every 1 second checks for the location of tracking location, this makes tracking very inaccurate and you can see it in videos by dragons, why this is crucial way of pet AI not in pair with AI 2015.

I’ll be direct, no curly sentences. More GW1 like, more hard content (HOT is surprisingly hard enough) love it, no GEM content GW1 survived without one so should GW2, and transit all the GEM store content to PvE/PvP/WvW. More content unique loot from mobs, less junk bags. More class based specializations, and less “jack of all trade” type of specializations. 50% specializations have no sense, and we are getting back to holy trinity. 70% of armor type stats dont even matter never did, it’s just there so we can say that we have armor diversity. A continue of good personal story like in HoT. GW2 story was crap, same as living story.

PvP/Classes in general, more balanced stuff since we have a lot less skills in GW2 then GW1… one would expect pvp to be pvp, not capture the point bunker meta surviving. More true death match please, 5v5 last man stand, no reviving. I miss GvG the point of Guild wars 1, the MAIN THING that made Guild Wars 1 popular, GvG ladyz.

And what i miss the most. And it’s sad and true, I miss GW1 developers, that did put in a lot more community contact, i miss the days when they came on forum and in game, and chat with us for hours, i miss days when our feedback did matter a lot more then today. If i think about all the CDI that we wrote and none of this was ever checked, is sad deep in my soul to see how every single company changes over the years, it truly makes me sad. I see the effort that they make, but if you don’t talk with us, it hurts a lot.

In GW1 i felt like i was part of community.
In GW2 i feel i’m just a number.
