I love how people don’t realize how much work it was redoing the entire legendary system and not only writing the quests for each new one, going back and writing ones for all of the existing ones. Get your head out of your doggy and think bud.

Sorry bro, i expect the list that was promised, must be released on the day of release date and not 1 month later:

This, is, not, acceptable!

14 daysss post release you still work on dividing, while you should be fixing bugs and planing for next expansion. Just so sloppy and unacceptable to support such behaviour.

I do not see the word “promise” or any indication of a promise or garuntee. This type of word twisting, in my opinion, is precisely why they post as little as possible, when it comes to WvW. All they did was state an intended desire to try to focus on WvW.

Every 6 months they make a WvW blog post/announcement, and nothing comes.

You mean like new maps, new keep mechanics, new upgrade mechanics, new events, guild arenas, and new upgrade mechanics?

If some one says “we will focus on wvw to sort this things out” that means.. a promise, if you want to play a “word wars” then do it, to me this is going very low on personal trust and agreement.

Wish I could get back to GW1.. PvP-GvG. It feels like we are outcasted, not desired or rewarded..

What title says, i’ve never had so many obstructed and skills don’t hit, when there is a flat area no objectives in between me and target and yet my projectile is obstructed! I would understand when there is ground in between like a hill/bump or something, but on flat area?

Tested on thief shortbow and ranger longbow all skills. I’ll provide video.
The issue is every where PvE and WvW, (i do not play pvp)

It’s frustrating.
It’s annoying.
It’s game breaking.
And needs to be addressed NOW!

This has to be fixed as soon as possible because it’s breaking the game!

EDIT: Let me state that all this areas, are not a new area, those are places that we were playing on for 3 years. (open world tyria and WvW eternal battle ground). which means mostly PvE.

I did stop playing borderlands permanently, before that i was playing on borders a lot. Now i play EB only, because sorry, BL are a huge fail, we have tons of topics why do we think so..

as a long time gw1 random arena almost only player, i was actually amazed at launch that they didn’t include their best mode in gw2. this was actually the reason i stopped playing immediately and just came back around 2 months ago.

like the OP and many others, i’d like to see a return of random arena since conquest feels a lot like dominion in league of legends. and it’s neither fast nor fun.

random arena was always refreshing and it was a lot of fun to discover what your team could acomplish – monk or not doesn’t matter.

despite what some people may feel about RA, for me, it never got stale. never. having to cap points, run around like chickens to cheese cap and avoid group fights at all costs is what makes current pvp in gw2 boring & plain bad.

also removing courtyard aka the only true pvp map in the game is a very questionable decision imo. limiting the players ability to choose their prefered mode is also something devs should never be doing. there are checkboxes for garbage mode #1 and #2 aka conquest & stronghold. bring back courtyard & make a few more generic TDM or arenastyle maps and give us a checkbox for that.

My last 4 years of GW1 was exclusively pvp. I did start as PvE player and because i did like my character a lot, i’ve decided to keep her and bring her in PvP. When i’ve seen how awesome PvP in GW1 was, i was instantly in love, and never ever left PvP for 4 YEARS until of GW2 release.

But what does convince player from GW1, to instantly stop playing GW2 pvp? Many people would say GW1 combat system was different maybe thats why. No, i love GW2 combat, but I don’t like Conquest neither Stronghold. I play WvW and i duel there, i play GvG, but then again very STRONG question, How can a GvG have a stronger community that no one promotes? While PvP which is constantly promoted by anet has a minor success? [again GvG is mode from GW1 wich we both remember].

Yet i’m surprised that we GW2 GvG players play for free, no reward, no loot, no achievement nothing, we arrange our own battles, only for honor and joy. This proves, that people love this game a lot more then people think and other people will never know how much this game modes mean to me, you and those that were able to play in that time era. We love the combat, we love developers, what’s the problem then? Well, if you know what is anet capable and how awesome those modes were, you’ll never accept Conquest over your game mode, which is totally enforced from MOBA world of eSport success. I still think, GW2 would have greater success if they would stick to their own unique PvP modes then adapting to Conquest.

Without GW1 PvP, guild wars 2 would never be what it is today.

For those who don’t know what that is I’ll explain:

  • It’s a solo queue with death match style of 5v5
  • you get paired with 4 random people
  • if all players on one side are dead, that team is defeated and the team that won, will go in next round.
  • There is no re-spawn once you are dead.
  • There is no reviving once you are fully dead.
  • If you win, your team will continue in the next round, Maximum rounds is 25, if you lose, your team is kicked into the lobby.
  • Higher you climb higher reward you get.
  • If player doesn’t want to continue, you can go out on the end of the round, and that player is replaced with random person.
  • You can change your build in Ready position before round starts.
  • No time frame[all fights were cca 2-10 min long].
  • Example

This was a game mode of true skill, honor, pride, helping each other like a brother or sister to push harder to the top, a joy and meaning of PvP, where many times you felt like a hero for defeating enemy team as last man standing.

This is bad, this is cancer.
I play SW:TOR for 4 years right through the period when that game transitioned from 8v8 ranked (which was like conquest) to Arenas (which used the exact rules you outlined above)
This game type is pure and complete cancer. It’s near impossible to balance, it promotes class stacking, it has little to no strategic play and promotes some of the most kitten play I’ve ever experienced. And random team selection makes it even worse.

Since you have random teams, you can’t depend on support. So all strategies and builds that require support or coordination beyond “focus X dude first, then focus Y” is gone. Also because of this, the only viable builds for such a gamemode will be builds that are extremely self-sufficient with high levels of sustain. Or in other words it’ll be bruisers only, and even then only a couple bruiser builds will even be viable.

Since the is no respawn, strategy boils down to having everyone focus fire whichever enemy player is the squishiest (thieves you’re worthless here even with sb#5), once they die you’ve got a +1 situation. This detail means that comebacks in this gamemode are super rare, and most matches will be blowouts.

Never, EVER do this. It’s bad enough in SW:TOR which has full trinity, this game would be destroyed by such a gamemode. With GW2 TTK the average match time would be maybe 30 seconds.

I disagree.
I remember game where Abjured was dying like little kittens ;-), yet they won 500-200 or so (it wasn’t Foefire) and it was prefect match to show what about CQ really is and show its weaknesses as gamemode:
-> It’s often worth to die to prevent cap/decap if someone can jump in your place during your downtime (even if you end dead).
-> Because in CQ often rotations are often more important than actual fights.

But going to a gamemode like the one suggested by the OP would become far worse in terms of the effects on quality of play.

And strategic play is a type of skill in itself. Players using a strategy to win a otherwise losing situation is a measure of skill in itself. No-respawn TDM doesn’t have strategic play and really doesn’t involve much personal skill either since matches usually come down to which team has the worst player on it, rather than which team has the best player on it.

Nope. It just causes more balance problems, because even if all professions would have 50% vs each other and skill would decide 1v1 and 2v2 situations and so on then more tanky (who can hold for longer, even few seconds of longer cap/decap than enemies can decide “close enough” match) and more mobile (who can +1 more frequently or move between points) composition is better, which makes even more imbalances.

I don’t think you’ve actually played a mmo with competitive TDM. Yes conquest is certainly flawed but TDM is downright broken.

Any TDM with no respawns, revolves around nuking the kitten out of the other team’s weakest link. Glass builds are garbage. Anything that requires support is garbage. Anything and can’t escape a focus fire is garbage. Anything that requires any amount of setup is garbage.

the only way you could make no-respawn TDM work is if the entire combat system and the classes themselves where designed solely with no-respawn PvP in mind.

I’ve played most major MMOs mostly for PvP since 1999 or 2000… and I can tell you that RA like TDM is perfect mode for following players:
-> Players who don’t have much time or just dislike wasting time in ques or lost matches that last eternity [matches are fast, there is no MMR so ques should be short]
-> Players who prefer action than capping and rotating around the map [action! no time wasted for rotating, runing around, respawning etc].
-> Players who hate playing against any kind premades.

RA suggested by OP wasn’t designed to be competitive nor he suggested it should replace conquest, but to be PvP mode for those who could enjoy it more than current one.

A dead player in GW2 sPvP has no meaning at all, you respawn soon enough, and has minor effect on outcome.

Yeah normally in deathmatch in an MMO, where the skill cap is considerably lower than say an FPS, a dead player more often than not means round over, which is one of the reasons it is a kittenty mode in MMOs.

Speaking of map awareness is nothing special. Yet again if you speak about map awareness, say hi to GvG from GW1, yet another game mode that can say, GW2 sPvP is more casual then ever.

Irrelevant, we are talking about death match random arena, not GvG, arena deathmatch is simply the most simplistic lowest skill cap mode there is, now you may like the mode, but that changes nothing, all it is, essentially is a teamfight, which is why most PvP modes in MMOs, MOBAs, etc, try and add things like objectives, some compelxity into the map, etc, because it ups the skill cap, ups the need for communication, the need for map awareness, etc.

Personal opinion about what you prefer, but like it or not, Death Match has more team fight synergy required then GW2 sPvP.

Death match has simplistic synergy, whatever wins the teamfight, more complex modes require more aspects beyond what is good in a team fight, which is superior.

Eliminating the weakest to prevail…

Probably one of the most tedious aspects of deathmatch in MMOs is all it really consists of is focusing the easiest to kill class/build, which generally is decided by the game design/balance, as opposed to player skill, which tells you all you need to know about the low skill level, and why MMOs add things like objectives to try and bring up the skill level and increase decision making,

Deathmatch is the lowest skilled, most simplistic mode out there, the only time it works is when the inherent game mechanics take a lot of skill like certain FPS (well lots for a video game, lets be honest video games are low skilled in the grand scheme of things), MMOs are in comparison a joke.

No offence taken, you prefer MOBA style, I prefer DM, but deathmatch will always be true player vs player….

If I liked MOBAs I’d play MOBAs, PvP in MMOs is genreally nothing like MOBAs, having a capture point or killing the lord on Foefire, does not equate to a MOBA, in MMOs deathmatch is low skilled and is tediously one dimensional, if you prefer that fine, but stop deluding yourself over its “merits”.

If you say so, you clearly want to make Conquest god like, simple because of map rotations, but let me tell you, map rotation is 5% of skill, if we remove that we get pure death match. Now argue as much as you want, we still play deathmatch easy mode on conquest map, it’s a simpler mode of Deathmatch with smaller team fights and occasional 5v5

Nothing wrong with personal opinion, but you cannot bash one mode because you think Conquest is better You did turn around many points as well.

Not really, death match is one of the lowest skilled PvP modes out there, there is nothing you have to do in death match, that you don’t have to do in pretty much every other PvP mode, other PvP modes then have aspects on top of teamfights, that raise the skill cap like map awareness, more decision making, , more communication, etc.

That aside the whole progression as you win is pretty good though, though 25 rounds seems a bit excessive.

And for those that say Stronghold = GvG, please Mr.John Snow Driving a car is way more complicated then playing sPvP, you have to control so many things, and be ready for unpredictable, but yet you do it so easy. Personal opinion about what you prefer, but like it or not, Death Match has more team fight synergy required then GW2 sPvP. GW2 is more like about capping de-capping and sustaining. Which takes out the core thing of death match. Eliminating the weakest to prevail and a tactical extraction for further fights, while GW2 is simply delaying the death, to make fights outnumbered, and re-spawning reduces so much skill because, in deathmatch you die once and you left your weight on the team to carry you. While GW2 spvp has no meaning if you die, you wipe but you can recover and still come up strong. In Deathmatch players are a lot more driven by being careful and not yolo stuff like ppl do it here.

Once you know how to rotate, you win 99% of the matches.

I think the game mode sounds interesting, but you’re forgetting the part where all of the teams that cause the players to yell at each other for being terrible, and everyone complains about the MMR of the random matching with new players against another team that has a bunch of experience players, or randomly matching up poor class comps. The complaining about RNG involved would be endless.

Defeating an enemy team as the last man standing might happen a time or two over the course of a long period of time. I’m not sure where you’re getting “many times”.

That’s the eSports thing.
In 5 years playing GW1, i cannot remember one incident with players, because fights are short and interesting, if your team is good you’ll continue to next round, and if you are bad, you’ll eventually lose and not climb far.

eSports is making this toxicity, from my gaming experience Random Arena from GW1 was the best thing, aside from GvG. RA had so much respect and pride, people were hyping each other to get to the next round.

I miss those times when people were team working and not jerking own members.

Hi, I’m GW1 player, and I did want, with all my heart to see return on Random-Arena.

For those who don’t know what that is I’ll explain:

We have none of this in Conquest, a wanna-be-eSports-like game mode, enforced way of playing that MOBA brought to us.

Where are death match maps? I’ve expected at least two of them with better design then Courtyard, less clustered.

But all we got was Stronghold and removal of Courtyard, shame to remove the best PvP mode from original Guild Wars.

WvW [EOTM changes]

There is so many people in EOTM that are lvl 80+ [We can see by specializations]
or damage that they do/take.

Limit EOTM to maximum lvl 60, and orient those people to WvW.
We have serious problems people playing EOTM and WvW lacks of people.

You miss the purpose of this thread guys, All i’m saying there are lvl 80s playing EOTM while Borderlands are empty. And all this people should be playing on borderlands. If we could transit this lvl80s trafic to Borderlands we would have a lot more healthy fights on maps that were intended for a lot bigger population as they expected to.

I know maps were not designed for leveling, but there is no real purpose in EOTM, and I cannot tell how people should play, but if core maps have issue in WvW, then something has to change, solution is here.

Changes for good [SEASON CHANGE]

1) We have to remove Server selection, and you should pick your server once you join WvW for the first time. We need to filter out PvE people that don’t ever play WvW, because over populating servers for not even participating is not an smart idea.

2) There should be seasons with strict changes to make them interesting and not enforced but still has meaning:

  • 12 months long, season ends in December, starts in January.
  • Season points are collected through entire year with special rules.
  • WvW score points only count on every odd month: January, March, May, July, September, November
  • With every odd month, we have 1 month to rest and play WvW for fun.
  • In December, there should be month of GvG and Duels in Obsidian Sanctum as 1v1 and 15v15 events to get special points.
  • Every Week has a special reward chest on the end, for special weapons.
  • WvW active participation should be rewarded same as Verdant Brink, killing anything does give you participation: Sentry, Player, Objective, Event on map etc.
  • Player kills count towards points of the week.

3) We need to reward people that play WvW MORE, but prevent that reward from being farm-able, so people without being dedicated WvW players wouldn’t have benefit of this by farming this or afk in the borders. WvW active participation should be rewarded same as Verdant Brink, killing anything does give you participation: Sentry, Player, Objective, Event on map etc, but you have to get 200% participation, and you only get rewards if you are active, not kill sentry, then go afk for 3 hours and get reward….

4) In replace of point 3). we could have WvW tracks? Same as PvP does but without activating any, but reward would expire if you are not playing WvW a lot.

Lol you know you could have just summed that up and saved alot of words:

You cant scale down the map as every single object of the map would be out of place, out of scale and no longer fit together with the terrain. You cant just remove entire parts of it and pretend like that’s going to make it any better (in this case, it would remove bay).

TL;DR
The map cant be fixed without making it a new map.

If they use bad programming practice yes, but if they use advanced stuff they can easily adjust terrain by width and height, and objects will stay in shape while collision will stay on spot.

If Anet would make that, this would truly show publicly how poorly their combat is designed. A lot of skills don’t work as intended, and if we would enable gliding in WvW this would show true face of the game.

Ummm Well we had one season so far, I was enjoying it.
The problem is that seasons are wrongly represented, They should be a LOT more frequent, and a lot of people since 3 years now agree that we could use some seasons, because what ever happens now, no1 cares, now are matchups the same more then ever. Nothing special. No one cares. and i’m in T1 server. It’s all about karma trains for more then a year now. I’m personally roamer with strong scouting orientation.

OK maybe not 2 months then 2 weeks rest. But every quarter should have a time where

We need to change how seasons work.

Season should work like this:

  • Season is 12 months long
  • Season points can be gathered every 4 weeks.
  • January, March, May, July, September, November… are the months that will add points towards Seasons score.

This would make seasons a lot more pleasant and would give meaning to WvW.

I have 4.5khours, 3,8k hours on ranger, and that’s the amount i’ve spend in WvW. I must say that WvW became boring, without having a GvG scene, i would quite WvW long ago, because there is no meaning when people stop caring, they move from server to server just to find GvG scenarios more often. I’m a WvW only player and I’m loyal to that game mode, and I enjoy WvW a lot, but lets be honest here, there must be a meaning and seasons must be more frequent. And it should be covered over entire year, not just few weeks bam, done and years of silence.

People speaking of playing for the server, when they make at least 7 jumps per year, and there are those people like me, who stayed on one server for so long, that i’ve seen so many commanders change, guilds come and go, and when you are staying on same server for so long, you know strategy of your enemy because they were once your ally and that’s the sad part. People don’t give a kitten about WvW any more even if they say they do, we all want one thing, a meaning and fixes, season is not a bad thing, it’s just implemented wrongly.

Getting exhausted during season made me laugh too.

Just pm the enemy commander and ask for some nice fights. The new map won’t hinder you.

I’m going to appologise to designers, they did put very good job in creating very pretty maps, butthat’s about it, designers do the job as always, but that’s about it, it’s pretty not functional and specially to big for GW2 population.

Why people don’t have interest?

  • Not enough WvW effort given for mechanics
  • The only thing that we got was shield generator in 3.5 years
  • No reward changes
  • No badges changes
  • Crippled Ranking (no more guard stacks) and NO new rank things to learn
  • People have no benefit of rank higher then 1000.
  • Armors are salvagable, and not getting even close to worth of item price
  • No seasons…

Solution:

  • Fix skill lag that you promised and you didn’t do it after 3.5 years. You keep collecting data for no results, then employ some1 that is capable of fixing it. Even with new maps, skill lag is not gone, far from it!
  • Keep EB as it is.
  • REDUCE NEW MAPS FOR 40%, AND REMOVE UNDERGROUND LEVEL. I would only keep the crentral area, all the rivers and side paths removed, gone, deleted please, ty.
  • There should be only 1 borderline if we don’t reduce the area, if we reduce the area, we should have 3 borderlands
  • Make borderland PPT give x3 points.
  • Player kill gives 1 point directly to the weekly score.
  • Where are seasons? 1 season in 3.5 years WTF ? So disrespectful. Seasons should be 2 months long with 14 days break.
  • Make Obsidian Sanctum a high reward if you control the top. make people fight for it, it’s nice place.
  • PUT THE RESET BACK WHERE IT BELONGS, it’s proven Fridays still have queue, weekends don’t have any queue, EVER.

To me, HoT is awesome.
I would call that average content, it’s nothing to hard, and if it’s to hard, you’re simply used to play no-effort-content which is the reason why i couldn’t enjoy PvE for 3 years now, now i enjoy PvE. It’s not about grind it’s about level of difficulty, AI’s are not dumb.

I was just hoping for more event oriented loot, better rewards and something to keep me going, but there is lack of content in PvE. So i’ve ended very quickly, because LayLine armor is ugly. Bladed is fully done, got Grinder, and i don’t feel like playing events for bad reward.

What i think is happening:

  • We have a new guy around to design content, which made PvE interesting to fight. LOVE IT, this guy needs to be noticed and have a bigged word for future of GW2, because for the first time, PvE bosses are interesting. Tyria content is just plain boring, sorry anet it is, who ever is in charge of designing HoT VB is amazing person.
  • Reward team didn’t change, and they still think we are rewarded enough, but we aren’t i’m not saying about fluent gold. Issue is in GEM STORE…………..#moredots, why? Because a lot of armors nearly 80% of things that we get are in the store or locked behind BL chests. Which makes us not rewarded, but GEM purchased, and this is the reason why PvE in GW2 is boring even with good mechanics. We need armors, we need weapons, unique stuff, unique loot, unique things what so ever to keep farming those events. So reward team has to do something about that, simply putting in 2 armors for entire expansion was a very small effort made.

TL;DR: GW1 had way better expansion which were without subscriptions as well. GEM store destroyed GW2 PvE fun on large scale.

Best order is your order mate, just go with the flow, once you unlock them, they are permanent for all characters, so just.. enjoy them, u’ll regret if you rush even if you are not a PvE person same as me.

I understand anet for not giving exp or loot to mobs that are in map with:
Event driven method.

So basically this is a system that tells you to join events to get your rewards.
But to be fair, all this events are super and fine, but the event or end event reward does just not cover it. That’s my only issue.

I don’t mind mobs giving no loot or no exp. But what i do mind is a bad reward on the end of the event. I want to enjoy my events and on the end get rewarded for doing good… for example 200% participations should give you a good reward. If there was more events, full time participation should give you extremely good rewards, which means if people would support events fully, they would get very very nice things.

Zerker will be only option for very experienced players.

How about dodge few times, and make build that matters?

My issue is with pocket raptors, and Mushrooms, the raptors need alot less health.

Are we serious right now ? ROFL
No they don’t what they need to do is to add agro-radius to make them spot you from large distance, they are half blind.

If they need anything they need buff not a nerf.

I love that you can’t just run pass the mass of mobs, get used to it kids, this is content that a lot of us want, specially GW1 players. Anet said “FIGHT YOUR WAY THROUGH THE JUNGLE”, they never stated “Walk through it and ignore all mobs like you used to in Tyria”.

Sorry people this content is meant for people that want something more then No-effort-Tyria-Core-content sorry, if you feel that mobs destroy you, go to Tyria, get better and come back this is end content for those of us who simply didn’t want to play PvE due to ZERO challenge..

I can’t say that and expect from you to accept my opinion , but old Tyria was not even making you try to dodge, ever.

  • 0 effort
  • No meaning of your build
  • No challenge unless some1 made a challenge like “i want to mine 5 nodes” pardon me?
  • Player decisions didn’t matter
  • Enemy were and they still are easy, the only real NPC enemy is Sniper Mordremoth, love it!
    GW2 Core was the worst gaming experience in PvE that i’ve sad simply due to content that was made on Level 0. How hard is to kill first mob, that hard was end content. ZERO.

Sorry mate, nothing personal, but how can people enjoy that kind of content where nothing matters?

EDIT: I forgot to mention mastery, you only have to work for them once, after you visit maguuma for the 2nd time, it’s so kitten easy, that you need no effort and it actually becomes very casual content. U’ll see, just give it a time ^^

- Patriarch, the best fight i’ve had in game, and i simply do it every day because it’s so freaking awesome! Who ever is creator of this content deserves to be a lead designer.

There is a lack of solo and casual content in HoT, particularly compared to the core game, which was a comparable price at release. This expansion has a significant amount of content for larger guilds, larger groups, and progression. Even the open world content has quite a bit of feedback about not being easily solo’d and to take a lot of time to move across the map, get hero points, and complete event chains. Keep in mind that I do have 3 copies of HoT in my home currently that other family members have bought. I’m not speaking from a vacuum. Your opinion is different from mine. I could just as easily say your statement is false.

I’ll say that i respect your opinion, but what you say is not realistic fully.

GW2 HoT was announced as non-casual content, but to be fair, what is non-casual here in Maguuma? The only thing non-casual are Raids, which are not even released yet?

Maguuma content is solo content, you can randomly come to map and tag along the random group of people trying to finish events, but then again IF you want events. In HoT there is tons of solo content that does not require groups, but it’s true you have to shift up with your game play, and i LOVE IT. If you want to go in maguuma as it was stated, you should be a little bit more experienced then a regular GW2 core beginner, so if people are new, Tyria is first place to start, like every game should have end game, and this is the end game that millions of players wanted, I personally hope GW2 will never get back to Tyria CORE content, where 99% of the time people afk, example shatterer afk kill, teq. afk kill, they even made FoTM for casual.. nothing “challenging” in there any more.

What I could read out of your post is, that you want to run through continent without doing any events, just poke mob here and there, and log off. Well to millions of GW1 players CORE game was night mare, to easy, to low intelligence required, no mechanics required, no effort required, builds didn’t matter, no passion required nothing. Your action as player never did any matter, now with HoT they do. I can assure you, that even casual people that gave honest opinion stated: “this made me dance, and i feel for the first time that I actually play GW2”.. Sad but true.

Addendum: I would like it to be worth it for me. I would like to feel like the expansion offers more content that works for me as a mostly solo player who often gets on at off-peak times in 15-30 minute bursts or who often has to go afk. I would also like to feel like Anet offers things for small guilds and feel like they aren’t removing content simply to put it where they can get more money for it. I don’t have issues with gem store purchases. I’ve made several. I just don’t like to feel like I have to buy HoT to even continue getting the same things I have had since launch. I check the forum every day to see what changes might happen simply because I DO want to feel like it’s worth it for me to buy.

My peprsonal opinion doesn’t matter, but i thin Gem store is taking away enjoyable content for the price of subscription and in return we get nothing but virtual object. Sorry, but Gem store is the worst content, HoT did deliver on 3 different skins for weapons which all look JUNK-RUSHED (sorry designers you did bad job). And hand full of armors which had no effort either, bladed looks ok but then again is that all?

  • I’m not PvE person and i feel lack of content for 50€. All though the content is so much better that i’m actually doing something in PvE because it’s a little bit more challenging.
  • I’m not a PvP person and i feel lack of content for 50€. New map is disaster, to clustered, no real mechanics, 99% obstructed in favour of melee or very close ranged classes. People also call this “Similar to GvG in GW1” and i say “Did those people even play GW1?”.. Where are death match maps with bigged maps? And by that i mean REAL deathmatch? Like kill and don’t respawn, once you’re dead you are done, last man stand??? *Where is REAL PvP, conquest is another MOBA junk way of enforcing “eSports”.
  • I’m a WvW player, and i feel lack of content for 50€ specially when New Borders destroyed WvW entirely. They are beautiful maps I can’t deny that, but they are to big, and because there is nothing to do there and objectives are to far away, we are not able to enjoy the content. I can call this Walk Simulator 2.0, old borders were better, now you have so many options to come around that even if you want to fight the enemy you cannot.. we have maybe 10 minute fight every 2-3 hours.. which is plain BORING and there is no point defending.

And yes sorry anet, i would like to call that content worth 50€ but it’s simply not, but still i’ve paid it to support you that maybe in future we get something more enjoyable in WvW.

Stop delaying the content, release it or don’t promise things that you can’t make, we’ve waited 14 days already, Tyrian Gods know how much longer we will have to wait for other legendarys to be released, 3 months, 6? 1 year?.

By now you should have holidays, getting some rest to be fresh and ready for new planing of next GW2 expansion, and not working on things that should be shipped with HoT. Will that bring another 3 year delay before we get new content?

To be fair HoT is challenging content, you either help the team or you simply dont join the map. People put in this a lot of effort, and when you tell them same person 6x that this is wrong, has no loot, and they will fail if they hit lords or stuff like.. not killing vinetender.. then you get kittened off after 6x telling them do that please. The 7th time is just over the limit.

Have only been playing Rev for a short while but the more I do, the more I wonder why Druid AF was not modeled after the Rev Energy/Cooldown mechanics. Many of the suggestions I made towards AF generation/CAF gating can be found already in Revenant.

Pros of Rev Energy/CD system:
- Automatically regen energy. No more wasting time trying to balance AF generation coefficients across multiple weapons/utilities/abilities. (Lets be real, this is never going to happen.) Also, you are not punished for using your time to do things besides DPS/Heal (e.g., dodging, moving out of aoe or moving to heal, kiting, staying alive, etc.).
- You have access to your energy immediately. No more having to “build” AF at the start of a fight which is just a dumb concept to have for a healing build.

Revenant is about managing short cooldown abilities with your energy. Druid already has the short cooldowns and would pair well with the Rev energy mechanics.

I did try revenant on BW3, and i must say i was enjoying it. The energy as resources was sick idea, i love it, and it’s amazing. AF is a bad design if you limit it like that, and it will never work.

AF will never get balanced and it will stay a BAD concept as we predicted.
Ranger last, Druid last > outcome? Unbalanced unfinished rushed project.

One of the funny ideas i got.. It would be better to make astral force by moving, more you move more astral you get [velocity of speed doesn’t matter]. This would also make players to move a lot and build positioning

Astral Force [REWORK]

Some people enjoy it but still think that design of Astral Force and Druid/Ranger synergy must be better over time.

Problems:

  • Very slow way of getting Astral Force.
  • Very limited way of getting Astral Force.
  • Very easy way of losing Astral Force if you get CCd or when people kite you.
  • You work way to hard for Celestial form, just to have exactly 15 seconds time.
  • No way of generating astral force while in Celestial Avatar form.
  • Very limited and low synchronization between existing Ranger and Druid even though we have tons of things that we could have synergy with.
  • Druid is not just about healing, but recovering, so condition removal should count towards refilling Astral energy.

Problem 2:
Druid needs FAST access to Astral Force, if ranger cannot generate enough AF to even use utilities potentially then we have a mechanics problem. Why do i think that? Combat in GW2 got reduced from average 90-180 seconds down to 30-90 seconds, which means most of small scale fights are done long ago before you even fill your AF. Current state of druid is simply not catching up with speed of this game.

Solutions:
We have so many possibilities and we don’t use them for anything and leave the specialization dull and farm from what it could be. Druid could really use variety of choices to get astral energy and bring diversity. Why be “specialized” and limit yourself. This is legit list of things we could include as source of astral energy.

  • All weapon auto attacks should generate % of Astral Force.
  • Regeneration boon should generate % of Astral Force.
  • Troll Unguent is the only one currently to produce Astral Force, why?
  • Where is WHaO, Healing Spring, Water Spirit, Glyph of Rejuvenation?[Equal to 1 auto attack AF, sorry i don’t comprehend that]
  • Signet of the Wild should produce passive Astral Force income.
  • Curing conditions should contribute to filling Astral Force.
  • Spirit of Nature?
  • Signet of water?
  • Runes that deliver healing?
  • Trait Invigorating bold?
  • Empathic Bond ?
  • Wilderness Knowledge ?
  • Reviving someone is healing, why not?
  • Selfblast the water field?
  • Pets healing and cleansing skills?

Also other suggestion would be:
Access Avatar when ever you want would make this specialization interesting.
Example: You have 30% AF > CA form perform a pull with G.Tides then CA5 root.

Glyph of Tidos needs to be insta cast to syncrhonize with CA5 form and make the combo viable.

NOTE: I know many things already give astral energy, but with this rate Astral Energy income is very limited, slow and far from enjoyable as it could be. We already have cooldown if we leave Astral Force, so on demand CA would be legit even if bar is not full.

Astral Force should not even be a thing. CA should only have a cooldown after leaving it and nothing else.

If we want this then expect the cool down to increase dramatically to at least 20 or 30s. I can already heal to full with CAF #3 in settlers so it would be kinda OP on a 10s cool down only. I would rather have it stay as is.

Why can warrior have full adrenalin in 10 sec, 2x if desired?
Necro can refill shroud in matter of seconds.
Why should ranger then have 20-30 sec for CA?

Astral force is nice, but very stupid way of getting it. In BW3 when i tried it, it was actually fun, as soon as we released Druid i tried it, never touched it again, why?

  • I was looking forward for raids.. and we still have none released, i know why and i’m ok with that, but still, hype of waiting is looooong :S
  • PvE content is not what i enjoy, but they made it good, i must say it was really awesome compared to old Tyria, I want that they continue what they do with this rate, and one day I’ll maybe have enough content to enjoy PvE.
  • Stronghold is sorry to say, worst game mode ever made, i was wondering where is more traditional GW1 death match maps, gvg content? Stronghold is just a PvE style of cluster fighting in chokes. So many obstruction, so many line of sight etc.
  • I know you just wanted to state, GvG is in GuildHalls. PLEASE! DON’T! Those areas are 50% to small even in gilded arena. It’s a shame, this arenas can have at most 5v5 and far from 15v15.
  • New borders awesome looking but, they destroyed WvW, they are 50% to big, two groups get bored before they even find each other, roaming is dead on borders, because u walk more then fight. Sorry we never wanted this.

But why did i purchase GW2 HoT?
To support ArenaNet because i’m with them since GW1 beginnings and i want them to do well. I can’t get all i want, and i cannot agree with every thing what they do, but i can say: They outdone themselves, now they just need to invest some time to speak with community publicly to polish what they do. Keep doing what you do guys, PvE is for once going in right direction

It’s going to be some advanced beastmastery specialization, maybe some kind of spirit animal, will allow you to have access a new set of pets which will have more than 1 active skill.

Totally making this topic just say ‘I told you so’ when the next expansion rolls around.

I was hoping that this would be Druid, but now that we have healer, i don’t want another specialization with boring mechanics. I hope we get something in mastery of hunting weapons, PREPARATIONS GW1 and a cross-bow new weapon would be sick.

All it takes for you is 2 hours of event 1x and if you follow my guide, you’ll get both ele.wyvern and tiger in one time rush. Enjoy. Not that i don’t agree that that was kind of weird to lock pets behind almost 3 hours event if you are slow. But i invested 3 days to get all pets, and i did enjoy it, i don’t like PvE to much, and i still had a blast finding those pets on my own and help of community.

We have Abyss and Shadow Abyss, where shadow abyss is really smooth dark black.
Celestial is never near white on any type of armor, while abyss is very similar.
Look shoulders where light should have same impact.

Make Smoke Cloud blind foes!

Engie and thief both have smoke fields that blind with relatively low cooldown, both relatively spammable specially thief, but engie has mutiple accesses to them.

If smoke cloud would stay on 16sec, then i’m OK with blinding.
If smoke clould would NOT stay on 16sec, (we get a nerf on CD) i rather don’t have blind on it.

That’s why we have blast, twirl, projectile finishers.

I just wonder.
They had one job:

  • Put Smoke field back ton F2
  • Then put smoke assault back to toolkit of a pet
  • Since damage was nerfed 50% your job is done.

But what i dont get is why such a drastic nerf to assault:

  • Nerf pet for 50% on the release
  • Nerf 2 hits [2 might lost and 10% damage per hit which sums it up to additional 20%]
  • Nerf base damage of each hit 704 > 576,2 average damage [additinal 20% nerf]

IN TOTAL SMOKE ASSAULT HAD 81% nerf to compensate 4 seconds CD reduction.

They should make F2 smoke field, swap skills around done, damage of assault was already nerfed to the ground, why would one need to nerf that even further…

old pets are just to outdated.

tbh this is more like a nerf than a change I don’t care about stealth tactics or opener or stuff, people will not die from any burst combo you do in this bunker meta unless you have thief/mes in your comp.

now the pet lost damage because smoke assault was nerfed and you can’t use it for insta burst someone (zephry’s speed).

Well I don’t even care at this point whatever glhf whoever wanted this.

The combo field doesn’t even blind lol.

1. YOU don’t care about stealth tactics. Others do. (game isn’t tailored for YOUR needs only)

2. If you want Burst, Use another pet, with the previous 50% damage nerf they got if you are using it for the burst you are not doing as much damage as you could be doing with other pets. (aka. wrong pet bro)

tell me why would I need kitteneless smokefield instead of a HUGE burst spike when I could get a thief and get perma stealth with my team?

Because hellooooooo I’m a ranger an i love my diversity in builds.
I love the changes back to F2 smoke field, best thing since HoT release, i bought expansion for this reason, just saying:)

You still have damage of controlable burst you just have to learn to use pets.

But what I dont agree on is additional 7>kittens nerf, if they would nerf it that way, they should change cooldown further more from 24> 15 to match beast mastery, and not on 20. Which is still not enough compared to double lost dmg.
(first nerf 50% and then extra 20% which gives us 70% nerf with 2 hits and 2 might lost)

Smokescale F2 now switched back again

The number of strikes was reduced from 7 to 5 and the cooldown on Smoke Assault was reduced from 24s to 20s, the damage on the strikes was not reduced

Thx for swapping back the F2, performance of pet did rise tremendously! <3

If you ask me assault changes were 65% nerf and 2 might loss is kind of a big nerf.
I did some tests:
On release day: 14.900 dmg average
Now: 3.750 dmg average

16 sec cooldown is a sweet change,
I still think pet could keep 16 sec CD, 7 hits and 50% nerf.

This is not 1.april, it’s Christmas time and i bring you some goods for once:
Since we felt that we could put more effort into ranger over the years, we decided to make some major changes to ranger:

Ranger:

  • Weapon change:
  • We reworked shortbow.
  • Ranger sword 1 has been reworked and it no longer roots and leaps.
  • Off-hand axe, damage increase for 30% and it becomes ground targeting skill (example DragonHunter-longbow-3)
  • Pets and pet control:
  • We reworked pet controls:
    – F1 attack
    – F2 player can choose active skill 1
    – F3 player can choose active skill 2
    – F4 callback
    – F5 swappets
  • Pet AI now checks for attack calculation every 0.25 sec down from 0.66sec.
  • Spirits:
  • spirits are no longer objects, they become aura, that empowers your body. [Example visual effect of SotP elite]
  • Traits:
  • We reworked empathic bond, it removes 1 condition every 3 seconds.
  • We removed Soften the fall on all classes and they become class basics, to replace that trait we decided to bring back Hide-in-plains (stealth on hard CC 60sec cd)
  • We remove Strider’s Defense trait, and brought back optional ground-targeting-traps.
  • Predator’s Onslaught damage increase on 25% from 10%.
  • Predator’s Instinct cooldown reduced from 30 > 10 sec, and cripple duration from 11 > 3.5 seconds.
  • Protective ward – does not trigger unless there is an enemy in range. Range increased from 240 to 400.
  • Honed Axe – we did move off-hand-axe changes to steady focus, look Steady focus changes below.
  • Steady focus – Damage increased 10% when endurance is full. Now additionally reduces off-hand axe cooldown by 20%.
  • Traps:
  • We felt traps are not on good spot, since Dragon hunter has instacast, and ranger traps have 1/2 sec, we decided to put stun break on Spike & Frost trap.
  • We did also reduce 50% of duration, and added 50% of condition damage to have better impact on trigger.
  • NEW:
  • We decided to add skins for ranger pets, if you play 500 hours with specific pet, you get unique skin.
