No.
Any Elementalist with a brain covers might. A Warrior running Phalanx Strength will be stacking less Might than an Ele, as well as doing less damage – what’s the point?
With said Elementalist, Forceful Greatsword is already a bad trait because of the short might duration, you don’t want to override the Ele’s might with this 6s might.
I do not mean to be rude to ANet, but while I understand the purpose of this system, people with low resources won’t buy in to the BL key system. I myself have supported the game buying other things OTHER than the keys. This system benefits players who can spend a lot (which is fine!) or have the patience to farm the keys through storyline.
I believe it’s NCSoft with their corporate hands around ANets throat that force such RNG in the gem store.
I got a better idea.
Let’s make it so that the first fractal you get is always dredge. And the second … and the third. The 4th fractal boss will be the clown car but 3 times as long so it’s more “boss” worthy!
I initially typed that on my last post, but decided to backspace it. Maybe it’s meant to be!
Sometimes it feels like it already is.
Flissy, thank you for the advice. You should write a warrior guide explaining the pitfalls located in the warrior talents. I could see how fast hands could be a bad habit to fall into. I’m horrid at PvP so I’m sticking soly to pve and so far this game has been a refreshing break away from being stuck as a tank. Hope I can learn the ropes.
It’s not my position to do so. It’s not me who has theorycrafted or tested builds, so I daren’t try to pass any work off as my own, I simply pass information from elsewhere onto people who do not know where to look for such.
I, like most, are merely sheep who are willing to believe the players we deem to be good, who often represent acknowledged speedclear guilds with video evidence located on the Tube for You.
I got a better idea.

Inscriptions/Insignias can be salvaged from armor and weapons. The more valuable ones that people make a profit on are from exotic weapons/armor that cannot be crafted, only dropped, such as Dire for example.
And this is good route to go assuming you do your research on what weapons/armor to buy.
I see, but surely, for the most part, won’t these items be the cost of the insignia/inscription that they salvage into. I do remember cashing in about 10k SE tokens for Soldier inscription chances when they were first available, but I never understood where else they were available from.
I don’t mind RNG chests when keys are supplied by drops & zone completion.
I mind RNG chests in a cash shop. It’s a devious scheme that is reason enough to avoid NCSoft forever more, yet I’m still getting sucked into Wildstar sigh, the MMO crave.
Viable, yes. Good, no.
Sword is one of the worst mainhands for PVE, second to Mace in most situations, and Axe is arguably the worst offhand running alongside Shield.
The meta isn’t meta if you change it. It’s not a variant meta, it’s just a “play how you want” build if you’re running anything other than 30/25/0/0/15 or 30/10/0/20/10 which are the 2 metas for different situations (30/25 being multiple Warriors, 30/10 being singular).
Thanks for the info everyone. Still learning all the lingo. Thought meta was a rough spreadsheet to build off of.
Not at all, a meta is not a template – they are fully fledged, theorycrafted and practical builds. A template would be called a cookie cutter build which usually has 10-20 floating points.
OK. I know this one has been beat dead. But is there any case where a sword/sword warrior based on ravegers gear would ever be needed in pve?
I’m going to put my foot firmly in the ground and say no … no … never. Conditions take too long to build up to their damage output – which by the time happens the mob/boss is often dead.
However, with the huge nerf to Critical Damage incoming (which I believe has been input in a spreadsheet to come out at a ~30% DPS loss rather than the 10% the Devs claimed), there could be a spot in the future, but only for 1 condition user per group. Do note this is no guarentee, and less likely than likely, but it’s something to be interested in.
As I said earlier, either play meta, or play any other build you find fun but avoiding speedruns. No communal player is going to mind people not playing optimally but instead choosing a fun route – until this player joins the speedrunning groups.
I’ve thrown my doll out the pram the past few days with more WvW PVT Sword/Warhorn & Hammer Warriors joining my PUG Speedclears because of the number of PvE players infesting their territory. Don’t be that guy.

Then you’ll reroll Thief when Mesmer is nerfed, then Necro like everybody else.
Typical flavour of the month player.
The meta isn’t meta if you change it. It’s not a variant meta, it’s just a “play how you want” build. Either play how you want, or play meta, don’t try to pass off a poor build as a “meta variant” to try and make your build seem respectable.
Most people believe the 30/25/0/0/15 build is the be-all-end-all build. It is not. It is only for multiple Warrior groups (which, to those of you are running multiple Warriors, why are you even caring about Meta anyway).
Interestingly enough, your build is only 10 points different to the actual meta, which is the 30/10/0/20/10 build. But the 10 points different is an absolute incredible amount of group DPS loss – just for Fast Hands.
I love Fast Hands, we all do, but taking it is a big hit to your team. Learn to play the correct build now, before you fall into relying on Fast Hands. It took me SO long to break the Fast Hands habit. You can level with whatever, but don’t use Fast Hands so you don’t fall into the trap.
Please note that offhand axe is an abomination of a selection, everything else, other than the Shield in 99% of situations, is better.

INVEST:
If you want to win stop looking at Gw2 like a game and look at is as a Wallstreet simulator, because that is what it is. Anything of real value in Gw2 comes from the TP and you barely get Skritt from actually playing the game. Once you have money your going to invest, and your going to invest smart. When new weapon skins come out, BUY them ONLY after the first week (when they drop to about 50-70g and saturate the market). Then you hold on to them. BoE weapon skins are a good investment because they are released then never come back again. This makes them limited edition items and creates a market that is very easy to corner.
You wait about a month, until they go up to 100-200g in value. Then you SELL them slowly, one every few days to maximize profit. So in 60 days, if you turn and burn 3-5 weapons, you can potential turn 250G of investments into over 750g. That’s a precursor right there.
These are awful investments, so many people invest in such items to the point where it’s a waste of your time and takes too long to give any reasonable ROI. 1 month for 100-200g value increase? Care to take a look again – specifically at the halloween 2013 skins, 6 months on and they have barely moved.
This would have worked if you did these on the earlier weapons, but that ship has sailed and too many people are jumping on the ticket weapon bandwagon.
T6 is the best investment right now.
Dungeon running is a mediocre way to make gold too – especially if you don’t enjoy them. It’s only really a gold making method that should be adopted to those that enjoy – who are usually good PVErs and sell paths to produce much greater profit than simply completing the dungeon, while being able to run their favourite paths multiple times. Doing the standard COF → SE → AC → COE farm is a waste of time.
I like how people do tasks to bore themselves in order earn ~10g/hr if they are lucky, rather than working a small bit of overtime which, while also boring, is a kitten site quicker than boring grinding in game.
Why focus being successful in a virtual world when you can be in a real world.
I’ve got a better guide lol
1.) Apply for minimum wage job
2.) Work until you get a pay check (2 weeks / 80 hours)
3.) Collect your ~650 dollars and quit
4.) Buy 650 dollars worth of gems (80,000)
5.) Exchange 80,000 gems for 5200 gold
6.) Buy a legendary or two after two weeks of farmingEZ ~50 gold per hour, much higher than this guide!
Sadly this is actually true. But of course, it only works with expendable income. I doubt people on a minimum wage can actually afford to spend their wages like that – unless you consider overtime (which a lot of minimum wage jobs don’t provide – at least where I live).
As for Vol’s guide, it’s nothing new to most people, but to a selection it is helpful. It’s also going to help with the T6 supply that will be lacking when even more people move on from champ trains after the much needed nerf. All for the cost of increasing the plague of Guardians thinking Staff is actually a good weapon – great …
Quick question – I have a …. lot …. of BLSK accrued from dailies/chests. I can’t expect people to reveal the best use (but whoever is willing to, great!), but I’m looking for a price per use that is regularly guarenteed. I’m currently looking at something that is ~1g profit + ectos per use, which sounds pretty good to me, but I don’t know if that is actually a waste – especially since I don’t really understand what actually gives inscriptions/insignias.
Thanks!
A group of friends just stand in a line in a doorway to something like a bank.
Griefing accomplished. Nobody can get in or out without something akin to Blink – which not every class has.
This would be a nerf.
Would also lead to griefing.
Stacking is a confirmed legitimate tactic. Fiery Rush is an exploit, and that does need fixing, but don’t rope stacking into it.
Zerging in PVE is both unrewarding and nigh on objectively boring.
WvW is broken is and is coverage wars 2 anyway.
No. But Wildstar is out soon so it doesn’t concern me.
There are nice things just around the corner. This week we will know first details and maybe even the release date.
We know the release date for what nice things are around the corner – June 3rd.
The barrier at the start of SE p3 isn’t new. You’ve had to break part of it for a while now.
You’re confusing the barriers before the second boss with this.
No, I’m not. I’m talking about the very first set of barriers. BUT any groups I’ve run SE p3 with lately have just broken down part of the gate and barrier automatically. So, I haven’t tried to skip past it.
You used to be able to jump around the gates at the very start. There’s now a little barrier blocking you from jumping around.
swap to axe 5 for massive aoe dmg
Wut?
The barrier at the start of SE p3 isn’t new. You’ve had to break part of it for a while now.
The one at the very start is. You’re likely talking about the one after the first boss by the bridge.
Would like to get a collection of what’s changed with March 18th Patch:
Most importantly, any news on Arah being finally fixed?
If you want to have a chance at the skin, you need to kill Teq daily.
what servers actually do that? Im on a T1 server and still havent killed him.
Desolation, Riverside and Baruch Bay are EU servers. My guess is Blackgate and TC for NA.
It should stay as a Tequatl drop.
Ideally, like practically everything else in the game, it needs less RNG associated. I’d like a fragment system implemented, where every Teq kill you get a fragment, and you need X fragments for a Weapon. Of course, keeping it as a rare drop is fine in addition.
Arah P3
Spanish Necro who couldn’t speak english in the group
Me: We’ve carried this Necro.
Ele: Just like we carried their economy.
COF P1
Very similar to yours
Me: I’ll do gate.
Warrior: But you’re an Ele?
Fast forward
Warrior: Ele’s can’t do gate.
Me: You must have blinked.
(edited by Flissy.4093)
Yes I do.
Initially it was a refreshing break, and ANets experiment has worked out well and shown that it is a viable combat mechanic (but it all boils down to funneling players into 1 gear as they become more skillful).
Missing it, and decent PvE content, is the reason many of us will defer to 2 hyped MMOs soon.
Both have their advantages. For PvE purposes, ground targetting would be better (on Dragon’s Tooth at least), but as someone mentioned earlier, as it is Dragon’s Tooth can hit players standing ontop of rooks or walls.
This is your first MMO right?
What you don’t know can’t hurt you.
Be quicker grabbing your loot. This is down to you, the player, not the instance owner.
If I open an instance, I’m not going to wait for someone to grab their coffee, mourn their late family, walk their dog, eat their dinner, sleep then return from work the next day before looting their chest – I’m just leaving the group.
If I looted my chest already, why haven’t you?
The recognition and thanks were given to GW1 players through the titles and unique items such as skins and minis.
Expecting, or indeed having implemented, further bonuses 20 months into the game is cruelly unfair. You can’t expect to have constant benefits for playing a different game.
Transmutation Crystals are a very good sale. I always buy more when I see them on sale.
It has irked me the past few days were nothing but consumables or boosters, though.
You seem to be missing the point of my argument. From the very beginning my stance has been “do not develop things just for legendary users, it is a waste of dev time because there are so few of them”. As you pointed out, there have been multiple uses for the stat selection dropdown, and I’m sure there will be more in the future (I believe that one thing you missed is ascended insignia/inscriptions recipe purchasing).
So yeah, great, a cool feature was developed for several reasons, give it to legendary users as well. It’s already something that is going to see widespread uses across the community, no reason to hold it back from legendary users. Let’s be honest, 1 item out of 13-14 PvE gear slots isn’t going to change that much. It’s just a convenience. If you’re changing your build from say zerker to dire that’s 1 less item you have to deal with. I’m totally fine with that.
If for whatever reason a sigil library is developed for all users, say as something you could craft/forge and attach to a weapon, I would be all for giving it to legendary users for free as well. The only thing I don’t want to see, and I believe I’ve been consistent about this, is exclusive game content that only legendary owners can access, which is essentially what your suggestion amounts to, whether you realize it or not.
I misunderstood what you meant previously – You are correct that a basic stat selection was previously designed and required very little development time after that.
For that reason, a Sigil selection could see further use. Maybe an alternate use could be implemented at the same time. Your crafting selection is a good idea (we know things like to be gated behind crafts) – perhaps a number of the Sigils required, and likely T7 materials and other goodies.
My stance is that stat switching is a quality of life feature that ought to be rolled out to ascended and even exotics.
A line has to be drawn somewhere. Arena net have already set their line, due to the already implemented out-of-combat stat switching
Stat selection was not implemented exclusively for legendary weapons.
I’ve never had a legendary and I’ve used the system multiple times now.
Yet another bad analogy.
The only other scenarios of stat selection I am aware of are:
I can’t think of anymore. I am unaware of any items that allow complete choice of stats outside of combat apart from Legendary – if there are some, please tell me and I will respond accordingly.
With all respect, your argument is beginning to sound spoiled and entitled, “well I can’t have it, so why can they?!”. And that will remain true until you can give reasons why it will make a Legendary weapon mandatory, a tier above Ascended, or impacts a player using Ascended in a negative manner.
A legendary is a weapon skin. Nothing more. Stop asking for it to be something it’s not. It’s not a bonus 8 slot bag. It’s not a sigils repository. It’s not a ticket to exclusive content. You don’t get to treat sigils just like major traits & utility skills just because you farmed 1500 gold.
We already know ArenaNet are not opposed to Legendary weapons having a unique function, as stat selection was implemented a number of months ago.
It does not put players who do not have a Legendary at any form of disadvantage. It is only a quality of life improvement for those with, resulting in no negative for those who do not.
It’ll be for balancing purposes. PvP is balanced seperately to PvE and WvW.
im ok with that but Op argument is not really true, since legendary holder also can get acendend as second set
Please read the full post before commenting. I acknowledged it’s a possibility, but players shouldn’t have to have what Arena net labeled as the “ultimate weapon” sitting in their bag.
Legendaries are the “Ultimate skin”, not “ultimate weapon”. Sad that WoW expatriates can’t figure out this is a grind for skin, not power, game after 1.5 years already.
It was absolutely labelled as the ultimate weapon. As in one you don’t need to replace, rather than mandatory for statistical improvement. Making Legendaries objectively the best thing would be atrocious.
That is quite ridiculous. Quite a statement to say it’s unsurprising too.
Justly rewarded according to ANet!

It’s a blast finisher already. No skill in the game is both a field and a a finisher. Not to mention Earthshaker is already an incredibly good skill.
Well necro does have foul current which is both a poison field and a leap finisher in the same skill and thieves do get black powder shot as a smoke field and projectile finisher.
So they do, my mistake.
Engineer are a very good class. They can single handedly keep a bosses vuln stack at 25, aswell as a good amount of group might (less than an Ele, granted).
While in organised group Engineer is pretty laughable, I’d snap up a Vuln stacsking Grenadier in a PUG group over a boring 100B drone anyday.
I usually write a very very long msg with the paths at the end. Something like “Please be full meta berserker builds. Thanks. Also i am writting a long lfg for ppl who read. P1.” or something ridiculous like that.
A short lfg and ppl tend to filter everything you wrote and only see the paths you are running. You can make yours a tad longer by adding gearcheck to it.
I actually like that idea. Still probably won’t work though.
It’s a blast finisher already. No skill in the game is both a field and a a finisher. Not to mention Earthshaker is already an incredibly good skill.
Greatest good for the greatest number. Your change would be a good change for a tiny number of people.
A good change for a small number of players, but no disadvantage to any other player because it will make Legendaries no better than ascended.
Fire field + Elementalist blast finisher with Persisting flames.
If you’re so much a min maxer that different Sigills are really that important, do what all other player do, make more weapons with different sigills and live with it that for that time you don’t see the annoying black clouds of your Twilight.
It’s not just for min maxers. It can benefit all players who don’t want to pin themselves in one content.
Not if i don’t have a Legendary. So everybody without Legendary should buy 20 Ascended that cost more than a Legendary if he thinks he really needed that much different Sigills ?
If it should help all Players then either they totally remove Sigills, or let us swap them for free also on Exotics or yellow items. Everything else is just again a step further to make the game less alt-friendly since i don’t have the money to buy Legendarys for all my 11 toons.
It would still be cheaper to buy 20 ascended weapons than their equivelent Legendary.
A precedence has been set by allowing Legendaries stat swapping capability. That shows Arena net acknowledge the extra mile taken to obtain Legendaries, and they are willing to add quality of life things to them.
Similar to stat swapping, it in no way makes Legendaries mandatory, or even an upgrade. Because they are still statistically the same as ascended, and still more expensive.
There’s lots of things that are hard to make. You shouldn’t suddenly be free of the hard choices just because you ground out a legendary. You are already amazingly benefited from being able to swap stats, whereas, every other person in the game is trapped into a single build for (more or less) forever.
I gave mathematical examples of why it’s better, both effectively and financially, to just have several ascended weapons with different sigils than a Legendary. As for pseudo-legendary like Mjolnir, Infinite Light, and I’d even go as far to say Immobulus, it could be fair to allow it to be included on those. But that’s a different story, the Legendaries are the focus for this thread.
Player trading does not exist to force people to use the TP because the game is lacking any good gold sinks.
They shouldn’t have a maintenance cost.
They shouldn’t give any advantage over ascended weapons. A sigil library would be a significant advantage.
Furthermore spending dev time (programming brand new behavior & UI + testing) on something that only benefits a tiny percentage of the population would be a complete waste.
No thanks.
I gave an mathematical example of why it is not an advantage at all. It’s also suggested earlier in the thread that there is a limit on how large the library is, so not every Sigil can be used.
And by your logic, WvW should never receive updates. Open world should never receive updates. PvP should never receive updates. Dungeons should never receive updates (oops, they don’t anyway) because each only affects a small number of the population and not everybody?
They shouldn’t have a maintenance cost
(edited by Flissy.4093)
Ascended is fine. It’s a lot more reasonable for players to purchase multiple ascended weapons. They tend to cost roughly 50g each, which, while a good sum of money, isn’t out of reach or a lengthy grind to obtain for most of the population now.
Meh, then no thanks to your suggestion. Legendaries are meant to be legendary
If you are in the minority of people capable of grinding one keeping a 250 stack of the sigils you use isn’t out of reach or a lengthy grind for you.
They shouldn’t have a maintenance cost.
