“Dear ANet, nerf Paper, Scissors is fine. Sincerely, Rock”
Elysaurus | Warrior | [LOL] | League of the Legendary | Gandara (EU)
We need more than that. Why do I care about dying something I can’t get better than rare quality?
Full support from my side, I was about to post a similar suggestion when I found this.
Sigils are the Legendary’s sore point, the one reason making them less desirable than a set of Ascendeds.
We are meant to switch stats so we can use our expensive & flamboyant prestige objects in all builds and roles. Yet sigils & runes are a very substantial part of those.
Please implement a choice between a (limited?) set of previously added sigils. Legendaries are expensive enough to justify this.
Limited would be very fair. Maybe an upper limit of 5.
Yes, it won’t change the zerker meta as zerker gear will still be the highest damage gear. When you only have one combat role, DPS, then the gear that affords the highest DPS will always be preferred.
What the nerf does is essentially balance the game. Vertical progression yielded roughly a 10% increase in the power level of the game in its first year. This nerf removes the increase without having to buff the environment. A simple solution: give the power creep that people grind for and then remove it. Of course, the non-grinders in non-ascended zerker gear are taking it on the chin here and they will experience a net loss in power. This is why when you have a power curve you should realize its mandatory to ride it if you want to play the game long term.
Got it, that actually makes sense.
But wont that make most gear combos even more useless? People that used mixed Berserker with Assassin for example wont use Assassin anymore because power will be a better stat. What I’m trying to say is that it will reduce diversity if this change doesn’t come with dungeon changes that make other sets more viable.PS: I’m not complaining about this changes (don’t even have ascended armor yet), I just think that it wont change anything by its own.
Yes, it will do exactly that. Berserker will be more dominant now than it has been, the gap between Berserker and the majority of other options is just smaller, with the previous near competitors being shot down to the bottom.
All this is doing is destroying rarely used gear sets, and kittening off anybody who made their Ascended before this announcement.
IDK about Ascended weapons and we might be pushing the overall pickyness of this game a bit too much with that, but I definitely agree that Legendary weapons should get Sigil swapping, just like the stat swapping but through registering it to the weapon as suggested by OP.
The thread isn’t about Ascended. That was a small derail posted by another.
You think Assassin gear is going to get boinked by this? Have a look at Celestial stats.
Crit isn’t the selling point of Celestial, and the change to Ferocity should not alter someones view on it. Celestial is going to be same tier on the gear tree as it always has – right near the bottom.
Assassin’s, however, is used because the player wants to Crit more. When the change hits, there is 0 reason to use Assassin’s over Berserker, as critical hits will be less important and it is a loss in damage for no defensive gain, so this entire change is entirely counter productive.
What is a cancer to the game, or any game with an online economy, is discontinued, tradeable items. Not the other way round.
People don’t stack in a corner to gain buffs though, you dont even need to be that tight, I dont understand why people keep using this argument. People stack in a corner so they can pull the boss there and then the boss will pretty much sit in that corner the entire time like a kitten, missing half his attacks because his arm is in the wall, while the players use this time to burst all damage on him because they can’t miss.
He doesn’t miss because he’s in a wall. Attacks still connect. it’s just a visual bug. And people DO stack for buffs.
The buff range is a reason players like longbow traited rangers are such a plague, they sit 1500 range away from the group, out of range of any buffs and unable to provide any buffs to anybody but themselves.
As a rule, if time is limited PUGs do AC 1/2/3, COF 1/2, SE 1/3, HOTW P1, then COE if time allows it. CM can be slotted in anywhere, it’s super quick, but is a ball ache with lacking condition removal.

It is not an exploit.
- It’s a risk reward strategy. The players are grouped together, allowing cleave damage and group buffs, but this means enemies can do the same to them.
- Most attacks can hit a number of enemies for a purpose.
Now stacking then using FGS #4, THAT is an exploit.
It’s funny how people like the OP crusade to stop people playing a certain way, because it’s not the way OP wants to play.
Thats not true I don’t really care how people play, if Anet wants people to obviously use broken game mechanics which they are too lazy too fix, well then they are just being incredibly lazy. But it is something that needs to be fixed. I mean in no other mmo that I have ever played have I seen such broken PVE. Thats results from irresponsible players and bad game design. Implementing some code in game that allows NPCs to buff each other the closer they are would easily counter this.
LOSing has been in MMOs for years on end.
As for enemies buffing close enemies, much like players? Yeah that happens. Say high to the OP Dredge on Fractal 50 if you ever get past level 6.
Please prove to us this is NOT how AN intended dungeons to be done.
The reason a clipping issue is so surprising to you is because you play a Human. You have it good. Charr, Norn and Asura? Welcome to hell.
It is not an exploit.

Post on LFG “path X, all welcome, no skipping, no stacking, no exploits”. Your problem is solved.
I’ve always been a PvE fan in other MMOs. So I do dungeons. It’s what I choose to do for fun, and provides more than sufficient income for anything I need in the game – especially after playing them playing for months now and acquiring specific recipes from them which allow further profit.
Of course, I’m not suggesting players do dungeons for money if they don’t enjoy them. If you are going to grind through a task you don’t enjoy for the carrot at the end, Trading Post PvP is the way to go – hundreds and maybe thousands of gold per week.
Something open world player’s can do is kill world bosses. This link will redirect you to a site where you can choose your server, and it will tell you status on bosses. They are often extremely easy, apart from Tequatl and 3-Headed Wurm, and they always give a guarenteed rare, plus a high chance of other rare/exotics from the boss chest that will spawn.
buy skins the day they come out, sit on them, sell them, your welcome
Is there a way to get skins outside of getting tickets in a BLChest? Cause like I said, I’ve gotten 5 scraps.
If you mean buy one of the TP, I know that’s a good idea, but I’m about 1/4 of the way to a Tormented.
These black lion ticket skins are usually not available on the TP for a few hours after release. I was talking to a friend today who purchased 100 Lovestruck Greatswords almost immediately after they were available on the TP for ~25g each from people who did not know value. He later sold them for ~70g each. You could do the same with just 1 skin next time one is released.. It’s a brilliant ROI for almost 0 effort.
I agree with your proposition on the condition that stat swapping and your proposed sigil swapping become available for all ascended gear.
It is absurd how much grinding is required to put together multiple sets of gear, or to experiment without gimping your stats significantly.
Stat swapping & rune/sigil storing should be a feature of all items ascended+. It would be a terrific improvement to the game.
Ascended is fine. It’s a lot more reasonable for players to purchase multiple ascended weapons. They tend to cost roughly 50g each, which, while a good sum of money, isn’t out of reach or a lengthy grind to obtain for most of the population now.
The most challenging PvE we have out there is Fractals. It’s a little tough at higher levels, and you may die a few times.
Now look at the rewards. Do you really think they would tie up any decent rewards to their hard content?
Oh, and they fired their dungeon team or forced them to be LS developers. So we can keep dreaming.
It must be fun being locked into 1 colour scheme else look super out of place.
I hated, absolutely hated, ammo for Ranged weapons in other MMOs. It was so stupid and ridiculous. You either had to kitten your damage, or have a maintenance cost.
No, nope, never, ever, negative. NOPE.
And I don’t really see this “disadvantage” that you think exists. Yes, Legendaries cost a lot more than an Ascended weapon. But it is also far, far cheaper to replace a sigil than it is to buy even a second Ascended weapon.
But it’s a maintenance cost. You will need to keep replacing the Sigil, and that cost will rack up, and up … and up.
And besides, Sigil of Force exists as the medium choice. It’s not as good as Sigil of Bloodlust with a full stack nor is it as potent as a Sigil of Night during nighttime
There’s the problem. Players have to settle at a middle ground, while there’s somebody without Legendary who has a couple of Ascended weapons able to use the best Sigil possible for every situation.
We already knew her goal was the dragon, we’ve known this for a few patches (certainly since Marionette patch).
But we don’t know why. Was it to awaken as “Tyria’s new master”, or was Scarlet trying to free and slay it in order to defeat her tormented dreams?
To me it looks like the end of Windy Cave in Lornar’s Pass.
Starting from the bottom and one day I will be there. Not fun if I just buy into the market with money.
Unlike most sporting teams now-a-days.
This should of been implemented when they added the stat switching to leggies.
Baby steps, Spoj ^^
These quests are saying:
If you are not using berserker gear, go home.
Only bads use defensive stats in PVE.
6 bags and a core chance for the Knights is a very fair reward. 18 on the first day was far too overpowered.
It’s really simple content, it’s almost punishing for anything BUT auto attack, it shouldn’t be as rewarding as more difficult things.
I recall reading that it is the way the server handles this information; basically it’s too stressful to calculate the condition damage of a target as an individual event from each player. So while the ideal would be that everyone has their own condition spot, the reality is that it is not currently possible to do given how condition damage is calculated.
You might then go to the next logical question of “Well then why is the game able to keep up with thousands of players physically attacking at widely separate times?” to which I might say “I don’t know.” I’m going to guess it has something to do with some difference between how damage-over-time and direct-damage is calculated, with direct-damage being a one time claculation that doesn’t need to be persistent.
This is exactly why. The stack limit is a server limitation, not a design choice.
Although the initial cost of the legendary is greater than that of ascended. The fact that you can swap the stats on them when out of combat makes them about the same or even cheaper depending on how many different builds you play if you already have a pre. If factor in the cost of a precursor then ascended is still cheaper.
On the contrary, Frostfang cost me ~1000g more than Ascended Axes with all the Sigils I could ever need would have cost me.
I agree ascended gear should be tradable. Legendaries can be traded.
Why can’t gear that only gives a 5% stat increase?
That’s an issue with Legendary weapons – not Ascended.
Crafting is a wonderful gold sink, so that being the only reasonable or fair way to obtain Ascended items is great, especially as gold is so worthless right now.
Thread #3847 on this matter! But it’s a long time since I’ve seen one, so I’m bringing it to the attention of the forum again – hopefully in a much more constructive manner than the past.
The problem
It is simply unfeasible to constantly replace the Sigil, and unreasonable to expect players to purchase multiple of the same Legendary for different Sigil choices, much like players have multiple ascended weapons.
Why is it a problem?
Legendaries are currently in a state that can put the player wielding one at a disadvantage when compared to another player. This example will be a player who uses Axe, and participates in all content.
It’s currently better, both financially and effectively, for a player to have several Ascended Axes with all the Sigils needed than to purchase Frostfang. Rather than get out of hand and name all Sigils, as some have extremely limited use, the following Sigils allow players to be most effective in all content:
Buying 8 Ascended Axes would cost ~500g if the cost of 500 Weaponsmith is included – Frostfang costs ~1500g.
This puts a player who has a Legendary in 2 positions:
Another way this is problematic is when a player switches between “modes” of playing. Someone who is running a Dungeon will need drastically different Sigils compared to when the same person is in WvW. As before, this person is going to be in a couple of situations:
The Legendary is supposed to be the “ultimate” weapon, needing to never be slotted out for another. While Legendary weapons certainly should not be mandatory, they should certainly not be a disadvantage to use or have – which they currently are.
Proposition
I propose that a function is implemented onto Legendary weapons that allow Sigil switching – much like how stat selection on Legendary weapons work currently.
It would be unfair to have every Sigil automatically in the Legendary, the only Sigil that should be saved by default in the one required in the Gift of X (where X is the Legendary name – such as Leeching for Twilight, or Agony for Kamohoali’i Kotaki). A possibility to circumvent this fairness is that the player first needs to purchase the Sigil and “insert” it into the weapon, where it becomes saved.
We already know ArenaNet are not opposed to Legendary weapons having a unique function, as stat selection was implemented a number of months ago.
Once again, the currently Legendary system puts the player using it at a disadvantage to someone who does not own such weapon in every manner of the word. The purpose of this thread was to highlight a problem in a constructive manner, while providing feedback on improvements.
Please leave critiques or other improvements below.

Well… Legendary weapons (each one) requires 2 crafting disciplines to be brought to 400. So is that really less work?
Olé!
Go go GANDARAAAA!
Being able to use tonics is actually brings equality for Mesmers that are hiding. The game was designed so that races are aesthetic only (while we know that fails, hello Snow Leopard), at least it gives Charr/Norn Mesmers a shot so they don’t reroll to Asuran.
Towards your RNG comment if everyone got one for completing the event it would not be worth 100g. And no one would want it. So there is no quantification of valuable without RNG drops.
If it is something worth it you could spend the 100g to get it
A meta achievement is the wrong place for RNG though, dontcha think?
Welcome to GW2 reward system. I think if someone is playing GW2 for the reward then they are playing the wrong game.
I never forget when I was helping a new player running a dungeon for the first time and he got dusk from the final chest while I was stairing at my blue GS loot (When I asked him, he said that he only had like 20 hours into the game while I had something like 1.2k hours. )
GW2 doesn’t reward you for the efforts that you make. Meanwhile you can hop into the gems store and buy stuff there that are not RNG. isn’t great?
Chat codes exist. You can just pull them from the Wiki. This is the reason why I never believe rare drops – have you noticed that whenever people claim precursor drops its most often Dusk, the most expensive?
They are suppose to drop 5 champ bags all the time and a chance to drop the cores.
They’re going to TAFU the TAFU replacement?!
They’re just datamined items, either for testing purposes, or an NPC item – most likely the latter.
Two weeks after the March 18th update is April 1st. I think we can all infer that our legs are being pulled and we’ll get some content then, if not for a little SAB at the very least.
It’s highly likely the first patch of April will contain SAB. My body (or my Guardian, to be more exact) is ready for red tribulation weapons!
I don’t know this for certain, but I think it will keep the colour. The reason being is the stats are tied to the skin in regards to the Spinal Blades, whereas with your example of a Quaggan-transmuted backpack, the stats are not tied to the Quaggan.
I would like someone to confirm this for you though.
It’s neither, it’s as new as Ascended Armor is itself. It’s just extremely rare and incredibly unlikely.
Chances are you got junk stats you will never want, so unlucky that it’s not a precursor I guess.
Why not go full zerk gear and put points into defense until you get good enough to put them all in offensive stats? Then if you want to balance for WvW just replace your trinkets to add more survivability (aka 3.0 to 3.3k armor). that way you don’t have to spend a lot of money in armor and runes.
Because it’s a much worse idea to swap your traits than your gear. Your traits depend on your playstyle, your armor on how much damage you intend to soak up.
Going 30 points in strength to get berserker’s power or putting those points in defense to get won’t change your playtstyle much, just how hard your weapons hit. You still have the same weapon skills and utilities. It might just be cause I am cheap but why waste money on gear when you can just change a few traits, which cost nothing, and have the same overall effectiveness.
Yes it will. If you put them in defense instead of strength your playstyle WILL change. You won’t need to save your adrenaline for Berserker’s Power, in this example, and will instead be using it because you probably have Cleansing Ire.
Another example is if points were taken out of Discipline and put into Tactics, you would probably be using a Warhorn or maybe more shouts/banners because of the traits there, and not swapping weapons so regularly because of the lack of Fast Hands.
While some traits are just damage boosts, a la Axe Master or Slashing Power, traits DO determine your playstyle.
That’s it, waste your dodges to deal a little more damage.
vs bunkers you don’t need to dodge, plus when you can melt your enemy in seconds you don’t need your dodges
they’re just extra attacks which you can stack up.plus is it really wasting your dodges if you’re using them to safely get off 18k aoe damage? (usually downing every enemy on a point)
Care to show us proof of your awesome wombo-combo in action then, rather than a .gif against a target dummy?
you can dodge roll while using whirling axe which makes it incredible,
a typical whirling axe deals around 10k damage and dodge rolls around 3-4k.
18k damage in 4 seconds without any cooldowns is AMAZING, and we can do it every 16 seconds!i enjoy being one of the few players in pvp who fully realize the power of axe/axe :-3
its been my build for months and utterly melts bunkers.
last night i won ever tournament i entered (7 in a row)so when i see people calling offhand axe “unviable” i laugh my butt off!
That’s it, waste your dodges to deal a little more damage. If you really want to dodge to damage, you can do it while weapon swapping. It’s absolutely not something that makes dual axe any good.

Just sell a Legendary.
How to get a Legendary? Be the 1%
More like the 50%. The 1% probably have Legendary sets, including stacking weapons, for all their alts at this point.
I use axe offhand specifically FOR the fury. For certain bosses that I know for a fact I won’t be taking any damage (Berserker Abomination in Arah P2), I can freely swap out For Great Justice for Signet of Might and gain ~80 extra power whilst still maintaining fury due to axe offhand #4.
Is the 80 power worth the 4 Vuln stacks, though? And, specifically for the Abom, Tremor will save you picking up the rifle. I’m sure using Tremor there, even once, will be better DPS than the 80 power.
I would suggest starting with Soldier armor (PTV) and Berserker Accessories.
Power is the most important stat to stack and should ideally always be your primary. That’s what makes it superior to Knight’s gear in most scenarios.
It’s a good combination of survivability and DPS, especially since Accessories are a very generous source of Crit-Damage (until Ferocity anyway).
Once you learn your way around PvE content you can start replacing more and more of your main armor with Berserker gear. For WvW you might want to hold on to your Soldier armor though….but that depends.
Except it isn’t. Knights is both more resilient and more DPS. Vitality is a non-stat, especially for Warriors, in PvE, at least Toughness does something – even if only minor.
Knights is much better to learn in, the toughness crutch is really easy to drop. Swapping from PVT to Zerker, however, will be horrendous.
You missed your chance to become the 1% by about 16 months. Most of the 1% have 50+ Ghastly Shields, plus other skins, at this point.
Becoming that rich is your own doing, nobody can “help” you do that, because the moment they do what will make that much money will no longer..
Do you know how long it takes to sell 50 ghastly shields?
You don’t need to sell them to be the 1%. You have them – that is enough.
You missed your chance to become the 1% by about 16 months. Most of the 1% have 50+ Ghastly Shields, plus other skins, at this point.

Do you expect everything to go well the first day,the previous had some patches too…be patient.
I’m not paid to test their product. It should either be tested before it’s released, or I should be paid to test this for them. It’s not a game in BETA, it’s a fully fledged, released game.
Like I said before, thousands of mmorpg out there, why is it only a problem in diablo 3 and gw2. It’s not like you can’t flip in other mmorpg but people dont’ compalin about flipping there.
Because “winning” in this game is expensive cosmetics, even if they look terrible, and these cosmetics can be bought. The most profitable way is the TP. That’s why people complain, but they are being ridiculous.
Oh look, another thread. Did you only get 1 ecto from your huge sample of 5 rares OP?
