It simply means you were chosen by the Gods of Tyria. Now, you are task with the responsibility of giving other players hope that they should continue to keep playing GW2 endlessly til they, too, get their precursors.
I don’t think I have ever been melted by a necro then again if im not on my necro I go straight for their one and just cc it and stop it healing. if only my team mates wouldn’t attack it when spectral skills are up then it would be even easier
The only class I’ve seen them melt in PvP is thief. I play the class occasionally and have only enjoyed them in WvW as a support.
I think necros provide invaluable support in WvW. However, other classes outperform them in both PvE and PvP.
Customer service has always been a strong point of this game.
If some are you are having latency issue and are quite confident that your internet’s working fine AND that your computer/laptop is operating fine, then it’s possibly a routing issue. I suggest using the trial version of a website that provides a proxy server:
If most of the latency disappears while in the trial version, then it’s a routing issue. In that case, you’ll need to contact your ISP as much as possible to have the data servers fixed. Otherwise, you can always pay a small monthly fee to use a proxy server to improve your latency.
Best thing about using Pingzapper? Refer me and both you and I get a free month of using their proxy server through clicking on the link below!
As everyone has mentioned already, just submit in a ticket. What I love about their support team is that they respond fairly quick and very helpful at the same time.
How does this affect anyone except the dead player?
All I can think of is that dead players still count towards even scaling and if that’s the case then I think changing that (so only living players count) would be a much simpler and less intrusive/controversial fix.
I agree that a lot of people just stay dead on the floor hoping someone else will rez them and save them the WP fee/time to run back and that it can be annoying. But I can also think of a lot of situations where someone might end up dead through no fault of their own (like parents with kids having to go afk quickly or anyone being hit with lag) and punishing them for it by removing any rewards they were earning or sending them all the way back to the point where they entered the map seems excessive.
Especially when there’s a much simpler way to make sure it doesn’t affect anyone else’s gameplay. Events already scale dynamically as people enter or leave the area, it shouldn’t be too hard to make dying count as leaving.
I think it’s safe to say that most players who died are simply there just hoping someone will rez them. How do I know? Because right after you rez most of them, they start playing again. But again I would care less because I would just ignore them, unless we were located in an area where they absolutely needed the rez. And like you mentioned, it’s not like they’re adding anything to the scaling.
From my experience of opening many black lion chests in the past, they’re a real waste of gems. I’m amazed people are still willing to run for keys with a very low chance of getting anything good out of it. The desperation is real here.
Many of the designs behind the mechanics of GW2 can be a nuisance. Due to the way how their client works, I experience bad lag during peak times. The game’s client is fighting with one of the data server my ISP uses to send data to them due to the way the client works.

If you’re looking to get a response here from a dev, you highly won’t get one just like the many other threads here that needs help. I recommend that you submit a ticket if you’re still having an issue.
It depends. If you want to play pvp extensively or roam a lot in wvw, then definitely yes.
I highly recommend you leveling up to 80 and playing the end-game content then to see if the game’s for you. It’s unfortunate that a lot of people quit before getting there. Now I don’t blame them because I did the same due to getting bored. After giving the game another chance and hitting 80, the game actually turned out alright (for me at least). The bottom line though is that this game’s not for everyone. Many of the people I knew who came into the game with me were gone after 2-3 months. The game is essentially based on three things: 1) Cosmetic 2) Combat 3) Jumping Puzzles. Most of everything else revolves around these three. If that isn’t enough for you then you may never enjoy the game.
It’s not something I would support. Regardless of what you do in pvp or your position, everyone should be rewarded equally based on wins/losses. It’s the fairest approach to this type of gameplay. At the same time, this is also why I currently hate the current reward track. Players are forced to do arena games if they want to be rewarded at all for pvp, after the cap.
(edited by Fuji.6284)
With an accurate MMR system, really good players will never get a match.
Maybe after waiting an hour in prime time they will find 9 others at their level.
That’s absolutely why you have tiers that considers the amount of games you’ve played, the amount of games everyone’s played, and win/lose ratio. It may not always provide an even match up but it sure hella beats the current system. However, it may be a little too late unfortunately. The whole system’s been this way since launch (over 2 darn years now), only favoring and sustaining a small community of the same players that’s always done well.
The whole pvp system is a mess for several reasons. It can be a miserable experience for both new players and experienced. New players who wants to enjoy pvp and be rewarded for playing the content are punished. Experienced players who wants to do well and be rewarded are punished. The idea of pvp being competitive is an illusion. The match making system is a joke. It’s sad because pvp can be so much more in the game only if Arenet executed it correctly. If they’re having such a hard time creating a more appealing system, they might as well turn to other more successful pvp games (league of *cough legends).
After spending a few days in custom, I decided to run rated. However, I’ve ran across a few with quite a nasty attitude lately. They put you down RIGHT AWAY. They seem to expect that you’ve learned pretty much everything you needed to know already in custom and know exactly what the strategy is. It’s quite frustrating. I tell them that the only real way to truly learn is through rated and that I have already played custom for a few days already. At the same time, there are no incentives in custom (capped rewards). Then, they call you a noob and selfish. At times, you’re paired up against really good players (due to Arenet’s horrible match making system) where they start calling you out as a horrible player. I finally understand why pvp in GW2 is so unappealing to the majority now. The whole system is a mess and influences bad attitudes. It’s funny when it’s called structured pvp when there is hardly any structure to it. I just want to enjoy pvp and be rewarded for the hours I put into it. However, I’m forced to experience negative players in rated to get there.
Not sure if it was just a coincidence or not but minutes before I did the rerouting process, I was getting pretty bad lag. Right after the process finished, the lag reduced dramatically. Of course I still get small spikes here and there but it surely beats what ALTER.NET did to me previously. Even if the data server is better now, who knows when the issue will return.
THANK YOU STEVEN. So far, this has also solved my lag. I’m greatly disappointed that none of the people whom I paid are incapable of helping me resolve this. It was truly a frustrating process. Again, I appreciate your help.
Run Traceroute on your GW2 client. The information you’ll want looks like the one below. It’s the only way to know where you’re losing data.

From what I can see with what you posted so far, the problem seems to be with your internet/modem. Perhaps there may be another problem out there (data server causing data lost) but even fixing that won’t solve your latency issue. I recommend you using ethernet. If you already are and is still experience latency issues, you’re just going to have to upgrade for more bandwidth.
My agressive attitude is due to your implication that Anet SHOULD do something to fix this, when that is not the case. If you would like them to try and do something about it, how about you ask nicely and maybe approach the Support team in that manner rather than being insulting about their first level of support personnel. No company is going to man the phones with a network engineer…..you are going to have to jump thru some hoops to get escalated in ANY support situation….that is NOT unusual.
Sorry if I ruffled your feathers, but the attitude that this is something Anet should be fixing sends the wrong message to everyone that reads these kinds of posts. I did not mean anything personal in my comments and sorry if you took it that way.
That’s not the problem here. Anet is simply not bothering with any of the threads here, even with those that’s been here for weeks to months. Where are their community managers? They’re like the dust in the wind on these forums when it comes to interacting with their players, more so in tech support. It’s simply a sign that they don’t care about your tech issues, the problems on your end, and a “Thank you for your money. You’re on your own.”.

Are you lagging in any other online games? Is “Joshuas_PC.netgear.com” generally the only place you’re finding high percentages in? I know there should be more information in your analysis there but it seems like you either left it out or pulled it out from elsewhere. You want to focus only the section of the analysis mentioned by Arenet:
(edited by Fuji.6284)
You may want to try out their traceroute program and post your result here. Only way to know where the issue is happening specifically if GW2 is the only online game you’re lagging in.
UPDATE
I contacted CenturyLink once again, since Arenet doesn’t seem to bother with this issue. They told me they weren’t the ones responsible for the ALTER.NET servers. Now they’re making me, the customer, directly contact the people in charge of ALTER.NET. Pretty frustrating.
+1 for me, centurylink customer
I end up going through chicago where it goes centurytel->qwest->alter.net. It seems like something is going majorly wrong between centurytel->qwest.I’ve always had issues and if I had another option I would take it, but things have just gotten noticeably worse in the last few weeks. I sent an email to centurylink tonight after I gave up trying to wvw.
If your internet’s running good, besides in GW2, centurylink will most likely tell you that nothing seems wrong with your internet. They won’t send anyone out to look at it without charging you a high fee unless you have some evidence that it’s on their end. I’ve talked with multiple representatives there about my lag in GW2 and they all insist that my internet’s fine. All we got now is to hear back from Arenet.
As someone pointed out, there seems to be a nasty relationship between centurylink users and Arenet. Some of the folks I know who complains about the lag in GW2 are generally with centurylink. This is something that we can’t do much about but let Arenet know and hope for the best, unless they too, insist that the problem’s not on their end. At that point, might as well hit the uninstall button and tell centurylink users to stay away from this game.
Also, where in the world is all of the devs in this forum? Do they not care? I’m not seeing them reply to any of the folks who need help here.
(edited by Fuji.6284)
This is the only game I ever lag in. Always been. Sometimes it works wonderful with no lag for a few hours and other times the lag is horrendous. I showed Centurylink the data I got from Traceroute but they insist that my internet’s working perfectly fine after running a few tests. I even checked with multiple internet speed websites and my internet looks good.
However, I think I pretty much confirmed this is on Arenet’s end. I had another buddy who lives around the same area try GW2 and yep, he was complaining about the lag. Will be shelving GW2 until they fix their servers.

As players reach the max level of 80, the dynamic events become larger, the battles more spectacular, the circumstances more dire. Each of the high-level maps in the corrupted land of Orr contain battles on a grand scale against Zhaitan’s forces, an epic war with shifting fortunes and frontlines.
That first paragraph was taken from that endgame re-imagined blog yoda just linked.
Guess what. the rewards are exactly the freaking same no matter what you do. It all boils down to being rewarded with scraps and more scraps. Here take a few greens/blues with the occasional yellow or orange. Great rewarding system…../sarcasm off. There is no special loot outside of precursor and that is not even special because its 100% RNG and I could freaking get one off a deer in queensdale. the rewards are pathethically embarassing. I enjoy the gameplay even though the PvE events are bakittenhousand times, but my god the reward system is embarassingly designed and just pure laziness. Very little creativity going into rewards…. everything they continue to add in terms of rewards is GEMSTORE ITEMS thats it.There is no special loot hunt. Just farm gold as much as you can just buy it from TP. Run your daily dungeons NOT FOR THE LOOT, but for the daily 1g. thats terrible design and its been here for 2 years now.
I agree that loot, in general, isn’t all that good in GW2. It’s not exciting at all. Like I mentioned, everything is sooo expected in this game. You’re going to get the same, expected amount of gold/tokens if you finish the same dungeon like usual. Rarely does that ever change. The only exciting loot out there is a precursor, in which the drop rate is near non-existent. Even the chances for an exotic to appear as a loot is pretty rare.
There is plenty of end game content. I don’t know what you’re smoking.
After you hit 80 and got some gear these are the challenging end game things you got ahead of yah:
1. Afk auto range world bosses then come back and get your 2 greens 1 blue and omg rare.
2. Run repetitive dungeons for literally nothing.
3. Do world vs world and by that i mean every single day you run around in a circle playing ‘’whos got the most ppl wins’’
4. Stand in LA asking your self,‘’ what am i doing?’’
5. Stare at the tp for something.
6. run around maps killing things with no challenge to explore stuff you could have done at lvl 50.
7. Craft unneeded things for looks because you have nothing else to do.
8. Stand in the heart of the mists asking your self,‘’ what am i doing?’’
9. zerg down tequatl or the wurm for the 97th time.
10. Haven’t done a dungeon in an hour so that seems fresh.
11. afk some where and look for another game then not find anything because every game is doing pretty bad atm. After that tab back to gw2 and stare at the tp.
12. Do the channeling bug like infinite whirl!( this isnt in game anymore… apparently it was too game breaking and unbalanced and was fixed( that was sarcasm.. this thing was fixed before the major bugs we still have since release)
13. run around in circles thinking of something to do.
14. Make another character and lvl it to 80 for no reason at all.See there are a lot of things to do. You just find them out within due time!
Edit: forgot to add but idk if this qualifies: Do living story stuff that you waited 2 weeks for in 10 minutes.
It’s scary how recognizable many of those examples are. Thing is, I still have many things I can do. I have no PS completed but that’s because I play an MMO for the MMO part, and the PS is to much SP. I haven’t maxed out any craft but that’s because crafting is all a gold-grind and it’s just boring. Anything you might want to make comes at level 400 and 500. No fun items along the way you would even want to work towards.
I don’t have all classes at lvl 80 but I don’t farm gold so playing on an alt even punishes me more with bad drops and since everything is based on gold you better don’t do that.
Doing dungeons for what multiple times? For gold? That is boring. For a cool drop I might be interested in doing it multiple times however they have no cool drops. All those items are in the cash-shop. There are no nice (little) goals to work towards or well there are but they almost all require grinding gold to buy your goal.
The personal story is the story of the game for your character, so not doing it is your loss of perspective for your character. Crafting is a cheap way to get better armor and weapons for all your chars as they progress through the game. I never bought materials with gold just to get my crafting higher, I actually used the stuff I crafted with materials I harvested. Thinking it is a gold grind to buy materials is a failure to understand the game.
Play all your characters to level 80 and then master all weapon types. Use non berserker builds and learn how to survive and progress in a different way. When you go into a dungeon, kill everything and never succumb to the stack and skip mentality that is for those that seek nothing but gold to buy their stuff as soon as possible.
This is not Nintendo, where the idea is to win at all costs as soon as possible. You cannot win GW2, you can only live in the world.
If the dungeons and fractals and WVW are not enough to keep you busy, try them with 4 people, or use a non zerker build, in other words challenge yourself, Anet has given you plenty of places to do it. You have to see the forest of possibilities through the trees.
That’s where you’re wrong though. People play the game for different reasons. Some play it for the ultimate goal of getting a legendary. That’s their “win” feeling. If you want a legendary and is unwilling to grind for it, good luck playing for months on end without getting bored to death before you get it. There is really no sense of “living” in GW2 because the only two things it’s built around are 1) Combat 2) Jumping Puzzles. Beyond that, there is nothing that attributes to a sense of living (Housing, Farming, Fishing, Pets, ect.).
You can make 35-40 gold in just approximately 3 hours with a really efficient party in dungeons. The unfortunate thing though is that it’s hard to create that one efficient group.
The thing about GW2 is that the only two endgame content there is are WvW and PvP, besides all of the cosmetic stuff in PvE. That’s why I find it hard to stay logged in GW2 very long after finishing my daily. The endgame content/reward just isn’t enough. After playing GW2 for a while, I realized that there really isn’t anything amazing in this game. Everything is just “okay” or it’s “expected”. I appreciate Arenet for making things convenient, in comparison to other MMORPGs, but this game just doesn’t get exciting very much. The only exciting thing currently for me is trying out new classes but that grind to lvl 80 is no joke, especially since you’re already played the same content that got you there with your other character(s) repetitively.
(edited by Fuji.6284)
I tried doing two things about this issue:
1) I played multiple online games and NO LAG whatsoever.
2) I contacted my internet service provider and they assured that my internet was running smoothly.
The only conclusion I could come to is that something’s wrong with this game. I hope a dev or someone can help me out with this before I shelve the game.
I’m currently experiencing constant lag. I ran Traceroute and here is my result. Anyone know what’s happening here?

Personally, it’s a nice break to just roll through a 20 minute key when I’m bored. Since I’ve completed most of the goals I have (aside from working on my legendary), gambling safely with black lion chests is an easy and quick thing to do.
Farming for keys is pretty boring in itself. So, I don’t know why you would farm for it when you’re bored lol
Once the nerf hammer drops on champ bags, grinding for a legendary will be even more fun. I mean, if you have a productive social/work life, it’ll only take you about 5 months to get a legendary (considering that you play 3-4 hours most days). Twilight costs only about 2000+ gold? But why the trouble? You can just convert around $550 in a matter of minutes to get all the gold you need. If you work and make minimum wage on the federal level (depending on where you live), that’s equivalent to 76 hours of work. You’re saving over 400 hours of your life through this method.
Ok ok. So PvP gets one of the best reward ever in the game. There’s no other reward in either PvE or WvW that has ever come close to this. It’s nice but pretty ridiculous when you think about it. I can probably understand a choice of a precursor for first place but just getting the legendary itself is overwhelming disappointing for people who don’t PvP.
(edited by Fuji.6284)
They’ve nerfed most builds people play, regardless if it’s berserker’s or not. At times I feel like we have good people working at Arenet, and sometimes I feel like some of them don’t even play this game at all.
I guess anets agree with my Opinion on how berserk needed a nerf and here is my proof
Reducing the Maximum Attainable Critical Damage
One of the main goals for balance in Guild Wars 2 is to support a wide variety of builds that cater to different play styles. The current implementation of critical damage works against this. Put simply, if critical damage-stacked builds are more effective than other approaches, the build diversity decreases. As we work to increase support and teamwork between players throughout the game, we examined how we could change critical damage to retain it as a fun and viable approach to build-making while also allowing other builds to shine.
The formula we’re using to convert ferocity into critical damage will reduce the current maximum obtainable values. At level 80, it will take 15 points of ferocity to gain 1% bonus critical damage, which means that there will about a 10% decrease in overall damage for a full “berserker” build.
They didn’t do this because they agreed with you. They wanted to make other stats more valuable. However, it’s nothing more than an illusion. Other stats don’t simply become more valuable when you nerf one stat. I’ve seen it happened before in games and it either goes downhill or nothing changes. The problem behind why berserker’s is favored goes beyond just high dps. It has to do with content, monster mechanics, rewards, condition stacks, and so many more aspects of the game within PvE that makes berserker’s gear shine. Encouraging build diversity has always been one of the greatest challenges for games in general. It’s not a surprise that Arenet couldn’t completely get it right. The nerf to crit. damage isn’t changing anything unless it’s for the worst. Hopefully their new traits will though.
Maybe they are going to introduce changes to some of the boss fight mechanics which will further nerf the berserker meta. We don’t know what is yet to come in the future blog posts.
The changes would have to be pretty drastic though. On the other hand, I would love to see them make boss fight mechanics better. Tweak those that are clearly under-powered and those that are, well, overwhelmingly annoying. Why all the stacking with the boss fight in AC path 3??!! :P
Say hello to a lost of 10% in crit. damage this upcoming April.
You know nothing about grinding til you go for a legendary.
They’re nerfing crit. damage to make other stats more valuable. A 10% lost in damage is fairly significant for those running berserker’s. How do you all feel about this change?
Kindof dangerous to have nothing for 10days

The only thing dangerous to GW2 right now is ESO. Place is going to be a ghost town in less than a month.
I’m not too worried about that. If ES never appealed to some players before, it highly won’t in ESO. Also, that subscription fee can be troublesome which is what’s keeping me away from trying it.
There are damages out there that takes out either all or near all of your health. This wouldn’t be a good game mechanic unless these things are put into perspective. I’ve played guard/warrior builds with high toughness/vitality and still lost a ton of health from certain mobs.

Is there really any difference between earning the mats by yourself and earning the gold? IMO, no.
I can understand when you have people buying legendaries off the TP with a credit card – I don’t like it (but I actually don’t care to complain) and I can see how it diminishes it’s value.
But how about the people who spend their time earning the gold to purchase the components from the TP? I don’t see that any different than farming materials directly since you are still dedicating your time, however it may be dedicated to.
I cannot understand people who complain about having to pay for a precursor, while they themselves paid for all their T6 mats and lodestones, which in sum is greater than the precursor it self.
Granted though, you said you didn’t do that. But I personally can’t see why it’s any different farming gold or farming materials.
There is a HUGE time and RNG difference between actually farming the mats and buying them off the TP.
True. If you decide to grind for matts, you face two issues. The chances of it dropping are low and you get hit with diminishing return. If you’ve never actually grind to obtain a legendary before, you probably won’t see why this method isn’t very effective. On the other hand, farming for gold (dungeons/champ bags) is usually consistent.
Being able to craft a precursor or obtaining it through some journey would’ve been such a wonderful idea and fits the idea of what GW2 stands for. Unfortunately, their most beautiful weapons fall in line of what most mmorpg do -> grind grind grind for gold. If you’ve obtained a legendary before, you know how much of a grind it was from the start til finish. It was a dreadful grind. This was one thing I never understood about this game since it contradicted so many core values that Arenet tried putting into it.
Love the idea since it’s a good gold sink. I hope they cost a decent amount of gold to purchase.
PvE is rewarding enough if you’re not looking into getting a legendary. Otherwise, if you want to maximize your rewards in that aspect, better hop onto a champ train and take a ride for several hours.
Ok I know I am going to get a lot of hate respond from this topic but some 1 has to call it out and so I will. Also sorry for any bad spelling or bad grammar, English Is my second language
As every player know that now on days doing pve dungeon every one demands for a zerker class. Reason for this is because it aloud player’s to put so much damage that bosses get kill in just a matter of seconds
So how is this ruined the game?
What you meant was that berserker’s gear ruins PvE. Regardless, it’s always been that way in all mmorpg in PvE. DPS will almost always be the dominating factor in that area. I don’t mind having condition damage players on my team when running dungeons but most of the time unfortunately they’re just bad players who dies over and over and over again. I’ve had amazing necros/elementalists/engineers with condition builds before on the team but chances are low when running into them. Overall, as long as condition damage works the way it does now, I don’t think anything’s going to change in terms of favoring higher dps.
Precursors are too important to the “end game” for so many people. They never should have been random drops to begin with. Massive mistake on Anets part.
At the end, you’re still grinding for it regardless. Grinding for a ton and a ton of gold. It’s a grind because if you truly want a legendary weapon, the best thing to do is play the same content that gives you the most gold repeatedly. If you don’t want to grind, then you’re looking at a few months of playing before you can even accumulate enough to afford one.
