Fractals especially T4 are designed to be the stepping stones for you to get ready to raid.
So lets not dumb this down any further.

Also, just going to point out the ongoing comical nature of these forums. It’s hilarious to read the comments from people claiming to raid who cannot do this fractal, its even more comical to read the comments from people who wanted 5 person challenging content….Now that they have it they complain.

That doesn’t mean a fractal should feel like a raid. In all seriousness, this new fractal could very well qualify as a 5 man team raid due to its length and the amount of mechanics involved. Also, one misplay from one player, just like raids, can cause the entire team to fail. I definitely enjoyed it but the the reward at the end is not worth it at all.

Wait….

Let me get this straight, you want 5 man challenging content that is the stepping stones for raiding to NOT feel like a raid ?

I don’t even anymore.

And yes one person can cause a wipe, but it only takes 3 people to remove the problem. Either they learn or they don’t in which case you can remove them.

As for length, are we deluding ourselves here ? I did the entire thing yesterday in ~23 minutes which included 1 wipe at Arkk.

I said that this fractal could very much qualify as a 5 man team raid. I understand fractals being a stepping stone to raids but this one is pretty much up there at that level.

I’m glad you can finish this fractal in ~23 minutes. Unfortunately, I can finish many of the raids much quicker than that and the rewards are much better too :/

I’ve been going to Iron Marches multiple times across multiple days to see if Champion Drakin Cinderspire has spawned and have not seen him once. If I recall correctly, he used to spawn based on a timer. Now, you’d need to be lucky to find him. I can’t complete the Wild Abandon achievement without him. I’ve been doing the “Prevent the Flame Legion from capturing Invictus Castrum” event multiple times hoping it would lead to him spawning.

[NA] Casual Player Looking for Raid Guild

Hey everyone. I’ve been playing since launch. However, I’ve never got into raiding since it was introduced and I’m interested in starting. Since I’m not a hardcore player, I only want to raid casually.

Ideally, I want a guild that only requires rep when participating in an activity with it (fractal, raid, ect.). I’m generally available on the weekends and 1-2 times in the evening (6-9 PM Central Time) during the weekdays. What I’m looking for is a guild that’s friendly and simply wants to have fun. With that being said, I’m also open to constructive criticism so I can help myself and others.

As of current, I have a warrior, ranger, necromancer, and guardian with all ascended equipment/specializations unlocked. They’re all based on meta builds.

I don’t mind using voice apps (Discord and/or Team Speak).

If you have what I’m looking for, please let me know. Thanks!

If multimap needs to be nerfed then that also means SW chest farming also needs to be nerfed. Why? You make significantly more gold in SW chest farming since it’s more consistent. You’re getting bags mindlessly zerging that should only be coming from completing events & killing champs. Farming has always been a key aspect of a MMORPG game since it’s a driving factor in keeping players in-game. I’ve been playing MMORPG for a dozen years now and that’s what I’ve seen. Thus far, there aren’t too many ways to farm efficiently in GW2.

I was running T3 Swampland Fractal (lvl 56) yesterday and couldn’t finish it due to a bug at the Bloomhunger boss fight. The wasps wouldn’t interact with the clefts. We had the group wiped multiple times and it still wouldn’t work. This happened a few times at the beginning of the fight and didn’t work at all when Bloomhunger was at 25% health. After getting into a new instance, it seemed to have worked fine. Thus, I assume it only occurs if you get a bad instance by some unfortunate chance.

This is honestly sad news and is a hit to what motivates me to stay committed to this game.

How do I make gold now?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fuji.6284

Fuji.6284

Your issue is your playing to gain gold not have fun which is why your finding the reduced rewards to be “ruining” things for you. I hate to sounds like a broken record but as other people have said, just play the game. Enjoy it. The money will roll in.

Here are some simple ways to make some coin and enjoy your self:

  • Do you like pvp? Play it. You get 30s on a win and 15 on a loss.
  • Do you like events. Play some. You’ll get loot, karma and a bit coin. Loot can be salvaged or sold, karma can be converted to salvage.
  • Do you like dungeons or fractals? Run those you still get rewards they still do add up.
  • Do you like wandering aimlessly? If so do so and pick up nodes along the way.
  • Do you like standing around in lions arch all day? fine do it you can even make money at that even though I personally wont give anything to beggars but there are people who do all the time.
  • Do you like to play korean farmville mmorpg? then farm some god awful mob for its drops(EG sparks for charged cores and loadstones) and sell them.

For some people, the profit is where the fun’s at. If they’re making good gold, they’re enjoying the game. All about perspective.

The biggest improvement of all? I haven’t crashed AT ALL. Wow thanks for the last minute notice contrary to previous info of 2 weeks. Not to mention record short event time for the game if not the entire industry. Worst decision ever. Please extended the event. This is extremely disappointing that you would release a special event along with new content and then give people hardly any time at all to do the special event. Thanks.

You had plenty of time to enjoy the Halloween event but probably chose to play the expansion instead. HoT isn’t going anywhere soon. I knew that and prioritized my time enjoying the festival.

I’d like to leave this as a suggestion, since 3 of my friends are experiencing the same multiple crashes since HoT and a bit before.

After several days of examining other threads (thry exist out there on reddit and other sites) we wanted to try something ridiculous.

They all share something in common and they’re using free antivirus software and they all have gtx 960 cards. Now, what we tried was disabling the antivirus. In an hour of testing, we had no random disconnects. Now whether this cured requires more testing on our part, but it might be worth a try for all who are having this issue.

This is not to absolve ANet of reaponsibility or excuse their silence. But I wanted to share this may be a culprit and worth trying.

So, it’s like a double edge blade. You can either play the game with an anti-virus program and risk crashing or play it with an unprotected computer and not crash. I also have a gtx 960 and support is telling me to get another anti-virus program. I’m not sure how that resolves the issue when I have set the program to avoid interacting w/ Gw2.

Pls help me my game keep crashing!

My game crashes consistently every hour or so. After sending Anet multiple reports on my gig, they essentially gave up and just told me to reinstall. Strangely, I have a friend who uses a non-gaming laptop w/ much lower specs, and doesn’t crash at all (averaging 30 fps on medium). On the other hand, I’m using a gaming desktop that runs the game on high averaging 60-70 fps. This has been so frustrating that I’m not sure if I plan on sticking around much longer.

Yes, that is true based on the data provided. If the prices of the encryption doesn’t change much on the TP, you would actually make more by just selling them instead of opening. Things may change depending on prices.

Dungeon Rewards Reduced, why?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fuji.6284

Fuji.6284

They’ve explained it multiple times already. Dungeons were generating too much raw gold, which caused an excessive amount of gold flowing into the economy over time. Bottom line is that it’s harmful to the economy.

Which is exactly why Silverwastes has been untouched in how long?

Oh wait, that money comes from selling mats and not the farm. You’ll have to excuse the 50g a week I make in Silverwastes as an extremely casual player without selling a single material as atypical.

That’s probably how much I made in two days w/ dungeon bonuses playing casually. 50 gold per week as a casual player is actually a good number, granted if you were mostly in a decent SW chest train. I’ve farmed over 50k bags there already so I’m quite familiar w/ the numbers. Still, it’s not as good as dungeons when considering just raw gold.

Maize balm farming nerf - WHY?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fuji.6284

Fuji.6284

Oh, there’s even more than the Maize functionality changes.

Maize completely removed from loot table.
Candy Corn output from ToT bags was reduced by 250%
Vendor values for Nougat Centers, Chattering Skulls, and Plastic Fangs were reduced by 33%
Oontz necklaces, a once very rare and valueable item is now a fairly common drop.
Mini Gwyn, a once Legendary level mini with about a 4k gold to acquire, is now a fairly common drop. Can even be purchased at a vendor too. Though it appears someone tweaked the rates since Friday morning’s launch already.

So there’s just been a gutting to ToT bags across the board. Next up is going to be how quickly the global Candy Corn supply runs out and the Gobbler is rendered too expensive to use.

What was needed was a new place to harvest outside of Queensdale, preferably gated within the HoT maps or even a raid. Was so hyped to play and find one yet, I’ve barely played since Hot Launched. Within minutes of the download I began witnessing JS’s economic changes. I really can’t stomach how biased his rewards are for content players versus traders.

The necklaces are still a rare drop. Yes, the drop rate has been increased but I wouldn’t say it’s a common drop. I’ve opened over 40k bags since Friday and have gotten only 6. That’s like a 0.02% chance per bag. The value should go up again after Halloween w/ the nerf to Maize Balm, causing bag value to go up due to low supply over time. Who knows, Anet may bring back the old loot table afterwards.

Suggestion to remove gold.

OP, there’s a reason why Arenanet doesn’t want the game to move towards the direction of having players trade items with one another. They have emphasized it in the past a few times already and why they recommend everyone use the trading post. Players can easily scam and manipulate prices (whatever the currency may be), if they traded with others directly. It’s also more inconvenient. The trading post has always been a pleasant experience since I’ve played at launch and I’m glad I don’t have to go through the troublesome process of trying to buy something directly from another player. That existed in earlier MMOs and was a nightmare when I played them back then.

If someone is harassing/bullying you, then report them. If they don’t want you because of your build/style, then leave the group. Everyone has their own way of playing.

I think it’s always great playing with others, regardless of their build, in dungeons as long as they don’t play horrible to the point where they’re bringing the team down. That isn’t really fun.

Ok. I think a lot of people have misinterpreted the OP’s intent. Some of you keep getting caught up in the fact that the OP claims he or she doesn’t play a Mesmer for money then claims he or she is bothered by the fact that not many port recipients give gratuity. The OP isn’t saying he or she is bothered by a lack of tips because of the MONEY. It’s about the lack of a display of ETIQUETTE. The fact that this form of etiquette is monetary doesn’t necessarily help the OP’s case, but don’t let that suggest that the OP is only concerned with money here. The OP is simply arguing that tipping is a good form of etiquette in these situations and is suggesting that it actually be considered by more players. Considering how many players probably don’t even think about tipping Mesmers, the OP’s attempt to spread the word seems somewhat noble to me. It’s an attempt to spread etiquette.

I think you misunderstood OP and gave him some points. I salute your good intent.

First of: Where is this game P2W?
Just because you can buy gold, doesn`t mean that you have any advantage over other players.
Please learn the meaning of these words.

Secondly, you are asking for quite a sum there. As Cyvien has said, yo can rack it up in a month.

Third: Shed out some cash. This is not P2W, but if you want it fast and not work for it ingame, then you have always this option.

Fourth: Try playing the TP, don`t know how it works, but that`s a way.

The last method would be the luck RNG way. Try to get a precursor, they sell pretty good.

As you can see, have luck, pay up, or work for it.

Not entirely true. If you put in the cash, you get more inventory space and top tier weapon/weapons/runes/sigil “instantly” while a person who have just reached lvl 80 on his character have to put in a significant amount of hours for them. This is a clear advantage. It puts you ahead of others.

Overall, I would say that there is some sense of P2W in this game, although it doesn’t give you nearly as a big advantage when compared to most other mmorpgs.

Returning to the game and need ideas for what to roll. (PVE)

I know there is no tanking, but my play style is toe to toe in heavy armor with shield….what is more viable now and more useful in dungeon groups….warrior or guardian and what build would you recommend.

You will be going toe to toe with things most of the time with either a warrior or guardian. The only thing you really need to know is how to dodge when appropriate. Although I understand you want to use a shield, it is useless overall in PvE. If you want the most efficient builds, those are berserker builds. If you want a significant lost of dps for a tankier build, those are support builds. Keep in mind that you won’t be face tanking anything much in dungeons though, due to the amount of dmg output mobs can dish out. I suggest looking at guardian builds shown by Obal (from DnT guild). In terms of warriors, I suggest looking at guides shown by Nike (also from DnT guild). You can find these guides on their youtube accounts.

I just opened 13985 bags

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fuji.6284

Fuji.6284

Within 1000 champion bags, you make approximately 120 gold (at the minimum you can say) IF you sell everything. Rounding your number up (only champion bags), you would have made approximately 1440 gold. Within an hour, you can farm up to 100 champion bags if the chest train consistently keeps running. Considering you farmed 11800 champion bags, we can assume you spent approximately 180 hours this past month alone farming for those bags. That’s literally 7.5 days. Lets round that up to 8 days since we can assume you spent “some” time doing events/vinewrath. Now, judging by the extra bags you have (bags of gear), those would’ve profited you with approximately 80 gold if you sold them all. Overall, you probably made approximately 1520 (more-so or less) gold. Remember, this doesn’t include fees when posting/selling on the trading post.

Considering you farmed for approximately 8 days, that’s a total of 192 hours. If you work and make minimum wage of $7.25 at the federal level, you would have made $1392 (not including taxes, social security, ect.). Looking at the trading post right now, 800 gems ($10) is worth an average of 115 gold. Rounding $1392 up, you get $1400. If you had bought gems with that much money, you would’ve had 112,000 gems. If you had converted those gems to gold, you would’ve had approximately 16,100 gold.

Isn’t this awesome?!

As someone with 2 level 80 rangers, I will trade you everything pet related, traits included, for just eviscerate.

Why? Rapid fire is better than eviscerate will ever be.

Against someone that know how to fight a pew pew ranger? Nope. Its easy to cancel the rapid fire of a ranger. If we could have a melee burst like eviscerate to punish those that approach too much of you and turn around you, ranger would be OP.

I thought rangers were already OP in WvW and PvP.
