Well, for me. I build my Desktop PC couple years ago, by todays standards it’s pretty old. I have been able to play every game I have on max settings (e.g. Crysis 1, 2, 3; Far Cry 3; Lineage 2; GW1 etc.) and have not had a single problem that made me wonder “Hmm, what’s my FPS here”. Yes some are a bit older games.
GW2 however was the first game that really stressed my Desktop, and give me close to unplayable frame rates that it just turned into a slide-show. Overclocking my CPU (from 3.0Ghz stock to 3.6Ghz) helped really A LOT.
Funny is, that changing graphical settings in the options menu doesn’t help anything, the only setting that gives me a slight boost in FPS is the “Shader Option” when I set that to Low in comparison to high, I win like 5 FPS on average. Rest of the options have no effect, at all.
Now I also got 2 SSD’s recently and installed them in a RAID0, and I only installed GW2 onto it, nothing else. This did help loading times a lot, specifically the loading of textures and players when entering towns like Lions Arch. However the loading times in general for this game are extremely long.
Now I’m sure my CPU is my systems main bottleneck, along with all my other out-dated motherboard and RAM. But my GFX card is hardly being used in GW2, which is a shame.
Current Spec:
E8400 @ 3.6 Ghz
4 GB DDR2 RAM @ 4-4-4-12
Nvidia GTX 260 (First Gen)
Asus P5Q Pro Motherboard
640GB WD HDD
2x SSD 32GB (RAID0)
On a side-note: Does anyone know whether it would be beneficial for GW2 to install Windows on the RAID0 SSD along with GW2 next time I reinstall everything? Would there be any performance boosts (just GW2 related) seeing my system would also benefit from the speed SSD brings with it?
Should just change Bloodlust to give something like +200% magic find. Remains incentive for some to cap the spots, but won’t provide an unfair advantage during fights and make smaller worlds even weaker. lol
Needs more alcohol %
Bummer all that stuff is accountbound / soulbound, if it wasn’t I’d gladly give each of you the ones you deleted accidently. I couldn’t care less about those stuff (even though I have all of them stored on a character that is lvl 80 and has 100% world exploration but never played >_>)
Achievement Points should be renamed to “Game Points” or “Tyrian Points” or what so ever… They aren’t Achievements. The GW1 achievements were a 100x better than the ones in GW2.
Less is more, quality over quantity. Meh
Alrite, back to GW1! xD
Mine is called Zaishen Saint.
Same name as my mesmer that I played in JQ at GW1 a lot.
Still lvling it though, played mainly my Guardian and have 3 other chars at 100%, so boring to level a character these days and in general disappointed about GW2 atm, so not really playing :[
(And yes, I still scourge the forums to look for possible redemption xD)
I sold my Dawn a while ago (500g), it’s now around 600g? I’m going for twilight and all I need now is some of the T6 mats left and Dusk. However most my gold is gone already from getting all the other stuff xD
Bummer I put all that work into getting a Legendary and subsequently quit GW2 :-/
Do you have the Forsaken Halls in Dredgehaunt Cliffs? This was the one I was missing at one point =)
I personally loved the stories of GW1, especially Prophecies. I loved Devona’s group and I loved the in-depth characters you were introduced to as you travel. For GW2, the story extremely disappointed me. The group of Destiny’s Edge has great potential, but I can’t help compare them to Devona’s group in GW1, where they simply pale in comparison.
I believe one of the major flaws of GW2 story is actually in its promotion. The same mistake made with the first Assassins Creed game. You already know the end-goal, you already know you will fight the Elder Dragon. In GW1 you start in Pre-Searing and a major event happens that completely changes the world you just became familiar with, after that the real adventure begins where you travel to different places, discover secrets and uncover new plot changes. The story kept amazing me, kept me on my seat and kept me wondering.
For GW2, the story never really surprised me, it went exactly the direction that was known from the start with very little side adventures. Next to this I find the way the Personal Story is experienced in GW2 far inferior to the long missions in GW1.
On a side note, am I the only one that misses the green exclamation mark over NPC’s head indicating they have a quest to offer? I really like the dynamic events in GW2, but I’m at a point where I’ve done/seen them all, multiple times. Whilst for GW1 I always enjoyed doing some side-quests, traveling the world, finishing some small mission an NPC sent me on while learning new stuff about the area. (and after completion, it was really complete).
I’m a very big lore enthusiast and I simply loved GW1. GW2 is amazing in many ways, but the story was a huge disappointment for me, whilst that used to be the one strong point I used to advertise the game to my friends.
I really like your style of art and I’m checking on this topic from time to time. However, is there a place where we can check all your made portraits besides scrolling through the pages?
Perhaps you have a DeviantArt page?
You can already make different channels that display whichever chats/in-game options you choose.
Please read my post since I’m well aware of this =)
TL;DR
Provide two windows where you can select what you wish to see, e.g. one has chat and the other has combat log (or disable one of the two if you wish to have both in one).
One of the problems I have with the current system is that the combat log clutters the chat window so fast when your actively engaged in combat, that I miss half the stuff my Guildies / Friends or anyone else says in chat. Now I know you can set multiple tabs and remove the combat logs from them, but I personally find this rather annoying to keep switching them around.
I’d like to see two separate chat windows, somewhat like the one used in the later Chronicles of Lineage 2 (see Attachment). The top window displays everything, from damage, equipped items, combat information. Whereas the bottom window displays all the chat logs you selected.
Options to include:
- Toggle to display two separate windows (or keep only one);
- Ability to re-size each window, separately from one another;
- Each window should have the currently available filters / customizations;
And while you’re at it! Provide option to include each guild you represent on a character in the chat window (tab). I personally don’t multi-guild, but a lot of people do and I’m sure many would like the option to chat / follow what is currently happening in their other guild(s).
Cheers
Have you tried playing at a lower resolution?
I like how ArenaNet will make Kryta “burn” on my birthday. Or should I say Scarlet? Yes I like Scarlet, very kind of her to make my birthday special <3
One more thought, if I may:
If the appeal process seems overly detailed, or if you feel a bit resentful of the amount of info that we require before restoring an account or reviewing a case of alleged botting or RMT activity, know this: We must and will take extreme care with each player’s account. We will ask questions, and ask more questions, if need be, to ensure that you are the account holder, or that you’re the victim of an account compromise and we safely can turn the account over to you. You. Not the person who gained your credentials through a third party and is pretending to own your account. You, the person who bought the account, who played it, and who cares about it as something more than a bunch of stuff to steal.
If the alternative to answering questions, up to and including the brand of your kitchen sink is that the bad guys gain access to your account, you would not want it any other way!
Your system is prepared to sacrifice legitimate players in its war against RMT .. like most MMOs legit players are simply viewed as ‘collateral damage’ in this war.
In this cases it’s a measly 200 gold .. that is pocket change to many in this game. All this over a measley 200 gold. W-T-F?
This is disgusting action against a patently obvious legit player (assuming the OP’s explanation of the actions their guild took that lead to this) and no amount of arguing and self-justification will alters that.
I think you are a bit over sensitive on this topic… If the owner of the account would never get his account back, then yes, you are right.
But if you can just talk to customer support and verify you are the account holder and that your ban was unfair, and in turn get your account back. I don’t see the problem as long as this doesn’t happen on a regular basis to the same person…
It’s either that or end up playing a game with bots running rampant and destroying the market. Not the end of the world if you can’t play a game for a few days!
Turns out Kiel is actually Scarlet and she successfully infiltrated the LA council and is close to ruling the world of Tyria, the innocence!
We have serious troll and spy problems on our Server. There is no reason to help them, by keeping this unnecessary function to invite enemy players into your party. Basically the spy and the enemy commander group up and the spy keeps running with the zerg/commander from our server so the enemies know where we are.
It is hard enough already to play with all the trolls that pulverize our supplies and build 30 trebuchets at our mainbase and the spies that sit in our ts / map and pass on information where we approximately are and where our next movement gonna be.
But there is no reason to give them a marker on the map !
Don’t accept invites from “Server Invader”
Ignore invites from “Server Invader”
Is it really that hard?
I think you failed to understand the OP’s post :P
Guardian is great in almost all areas, who cares if it is inferior in some others. Learn to work with it, can’t expect to excel in every area…
Only purchased the game, that’s it for me.
I’m glad to see you all spending way more than me though and therefore supporting the game… (for me as well) :P
New bodyguard Golems go haywire and attack the Queen, Logan runs off which leaves you to do the protecting. In the end it all turned out to be an elaborate plan of Scarlet (who is plotting together with the ministry) to assassinate the Queen.
Queensdale, Vale waypoint. Plenty of chickens on the farm field and other ambient creatures to the south near the water.
I used to revive others, until I was passed up by a group of players while I was downed (in WvW) and nobody stopped to revive me. I now ‘pay it forward’ by refusing to revive other downed players.
The logic!
OMG are you serious Arena net ? Why, why are you favoring China players by giving them this beautiful piece of art, while we get this weird thingy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4R5Q0ZOTa8
I demand, I kittening demand english dubbing for china trailer. I don’t care if it’s seperate studio. MAKE IT! THIS WILL ONLY BRING PROFIT!
Okay, okay, rage off.
You disappointed all of us with this live action. Don’t repeat your mistakes.
Yup, you got the trailer you deserve, not the one you needed!
Would be a funny spin if Jormag actually turned out to be female and only corrupted male’s because she doesn’t like competition! xD
I believe you’re thinking of Retreat, which adds Aegis as well as Swiftness. Aegis itself is the boon which blocks the next attack you receive.
Ah, yes, I meant retreat
Wait wait wait…So the base radius for our symbols is now what it used to be traited with Writ of Exaltation??? Does this mean I can finally run something else instead of ensuring my symbols actually hit something outside of the range of my toes? Sweet.
Most of the symbol changes were just correcting the effects to match the actual area of the symbol. A lot of the symbol’s effects were 120/180 when the actual area was 180/240.
That being said, we did increase Symbol of Swiftness and Symbol of Faith from 120/180 to 180/240 to be consistent with the other symbols. =)
Nice, I like this update!
On a note though, can you guys please fix Symbol of Swiftness. The swiftness it provides has not been stacking with any other swiftness boon for ages. It only works when you have no Swiftness and then receive Swiftness from the symbol and after receive additional swiftness boons.
However if you already have a Swiftness boon active and receive another from SoS, it doesn’t add anything, there’s no stacking…It adds 1 second every time the Symbol ticks. If you cross the Symbol between ticks, you get nothing. It’s always worked this way.
I can understand that if you would stay in the symbol it doesn’t add 8 seconds of swiftness every time it ticks. However, is it normal that when you pop Reatreat and get like 20 seconds of Swiftness and then right after pop SoS and walk through the symbol it only adds 1 second as well? Yet when you pop SoS first and then do Retreat, you get 8 + 20 seconds of swiftness.
Long story short, shouldn’t the first tick you receive from a new symbol provide you with the full swiftness boost? Rather then just adding 1 second if you already had swiftness, from whatever source?
EDIT: Wrote Aegis while I meant Retreat

Would making the WvW titles be similar to the Luxon/Kurzick titles in GW1 work?
Basically creating like 10 tiers within each of the achievements and then providing anyone who reaches Tier 1 with a Title, and every followed tier upgrades that title.
Also greatly increasing the AP you get for each of the tier (titles) would help.
It’s small, but it’s something I guess.
In the likes of;
Current System:
Tier 1: +1 AP
Tier 2: +5 AP
Tier 3: +5 AP
Tier 4: +10 AP
Tier 5: +10 AP
Tier 6: +20 AP Title: Ultimate Dominator
New system:
Tier 1: +1 AP, Title: First Blood
Tier 2: +10 AP, Title: Realm Avenger
Tier 3: +25 AP, Title: Veteran Avenger
Tier 4: +50 AP, Title: Champion Avenger
Tier 5: +75 AP, Title: Ultimate Avenger
Tier 6: +100 AP Title: Realm Dominator
Tier 7: +200 AP, Title: Veteran Dominator
Tier 8: +300 AP, Title: Champion Dominator
Tier 9: +400 AP, Title: Ultimate Dominator
Tier 10: +500 AP, Title: Legendary Dominator
250k kills would still be needed to reach Tier 10.
Hmm, now I really wonder why that was in my head haha
Correct me if I’m wrong but for some reason there’s something in my head reminding me that the max. Gold in your inventory is 100G. The max amount on bank I wouldn’t know…
Hmm, the fact my main character in GW2 has the same name as in GW1
as already stated i agree with this but only if there is no gay/lesbian/transgender/whatever discrimination^^
Have you read Sylvari lore? They love based on personality.
Blasphemous!
Anyway, weddings could be nice! And the idea of being able to share account bound items is also nice, but an extreme liability as someone already mentioned.
The one thing I can think of that could be a nice bonus to getting married (apart from the RPing aspect of it) is the ability to teleport to your husband/wife with the click of a button (the precise location, at the cost of say 2 silver or so). Of course both have to be online for this to work and it will only work in PvE (excluding dungeons). I don’t think something like this would be much of a problem unless I am forgetting something…
If Colin says to vote for Evon, I have to suspect some ulterior motive.
Keil knows what the common people need. Evon only knows what he can take.
The only reason Colin tells us to vote for Evon is because he doesn’t want Kiel to succeed in investigating the Thaumanova Reactor and finding out it was Colin that blew it up in the first place…
I understand why one can’t salvage the buggers
excellent, please explain? I suppose you also know why we can’t salvage backpieces (or search for them on the TP)?
You can’t salvage things like Karma EQ or the Invader/WvW stuff because ANet doesn’t want folk to “profit” from Karma. As for backpieces, try searching for Spineguard – that’ll give you some green/yellow options.
Orrian Jewellery Boxes make it entirely possible to profit from karma, far moreso than you’d get from salvaging 42K exotics.
What if I want an exotic backpiece?
Almost all Temples in Orr have Karma merchants that also sell exotic backpieces, they are pretty sweet. They have almost all stats combinations but if I recall right they lack berserker, the closest thing to it is the one with Toughness, Power and Crit Dmg. tho
I just wish they’d add for all I care infinite weaponsets like in GW1 (or was the max set at 4 there? xD, don’t recall, never used more than 4…)
Whether you can switch to them in combat or not, dunno.
Sometimes I really wonder why some really simple but awesome stuff from GW1 isn’t present in GW2…
2/ you’re trying to make legendaries easy to obtain … where’s the legendary then?
To be fair, there’s nothing legendary about buying the precursor off the TP or random luck from the MF either.
I thought risking my money in the Mystic Forge and getting a precursor (Dawn) was pretty legendary luck!
Even though I am going for Twilight and therefore need Dusk, I can’t complain :d
WvW isn’t about loot lol
and nothing in the game can beat CoF farming, why WvW should keep up with CoF rewards?
You do WvW for the PvP,not to get rich
No offense.
Who says I want to be rich? I want my Legendary, that is all, and people like me who mainly do WvW will actually still need to do stuff that I don’t like, dungeons, while PvE players who don’t like WvW now get the badges of honor for the Gift of Battle for free from those chests…
They don’t get them for free, they get them from the amount of achievement points they amassed since launch. The sudden high influx of badges is simply because it are rewards for things people did since launch, given every day. Once everyone caught up it’ll be fine.
I personally don’t see any problem with the badges at all. I do a little of everything but I also play a lot of WvW. I am also going for a Legendary and actually “farmed” my 500 badges for the Gift 2 weeks ago, right before the achievement chests were implemented. I did this in a single weekend.
Topics like this make it sound like Badges of Honor are extremely difficult to come by and you needed months to gather them. and now you feel cheated that you “farmed” for them before… lol
I’m personally a big fan of almost all the Legionnaire weapons. I’m currently using the Legionnaire Greatsword until I craft my Twilight
I can understand the frustration that some people get from this achievement. But really, is it so bad? The harder something is to get too, the more satisfaction you get from actually ACHIEVING that very thing.
Yes it is. I fail to see how constantly getting ganked by a superior number of players is supposed to challenge my skills? What exactly can I do to avoid that death when the jumping puzzle specifically forces you into spots that are easy to camp? Do tell me.
People speak about “challenge” and “difficulty” as if getting repeatedly killed by a group of enemies was some sort of challenge. The only real challenge in that puzzle is jumping. That is something you can control. It would also be challenging if it was 1 vs 1 PvP.
Compare this to Sanctum sprint. I enjoy it a lot even though the best spot I’ve held so far is third. It challenges me and is difficult but it’s fun. As are all PvP activities in general since they often equalize the playground by providing a) small areas, b) specific set of skills, c) teams or at least a situation where it’s one vs one or everyone vs everyone. Challenging but fun.
No amount of skill is going to let me avoid wandering gangs of enemies in obsidian sanctum sepcifically because there are spots which can be camped and which force you out of invisibility. 10 vs 1 is not challenging. It’s borderline griefing. This from a player who started with MUDs so people better not speak to me about “players these days” because I’ve played games longer than most and always thought that mindless ganking is far from challenging or fun.
Well yes I agree with you of course. And please don’t get me wrong, I can completely understand it and I would also be frustrated if I’m in a situation where my world is completely outnumbered and I’m even unable to try the JP.
This still doesn’t take away the fact it would make me even more glad to finally get it :P
Use the wiki to look at the maps (with the rasterlines) in the Maguuma Jungle, it’s very easy to find the missing “unfogged” areas that way.
I found all of them before the wiki had them by simply studying the World Map in a little more detail and guessing what could be explored (most maps resemble a somewhat square so a good guess is looking at the ones that have an odd shape).
Good luck =)
I can understand the frustration that some people get from this achievement. But really, is it so bad? The harder something is to get too, the more satisfaction you get from actually ACHIEVING that very thing.
I got the kite in Obsidium Sanctum yesterday and there was a lot of PvP between Dragonbrand and Tarnished Coast. There was also a particular Engineer from TC who was camping the traps midway and simply kept auto throwing grenades down on the pillars, making it simply impossible to get to him as you were instantly put into combat and unable to make the jump. This was kind of annoying and the reason it took me a few hours in the JP (had a lot of fun though). I even got into a party with another TC engineer who was just trolling people and having some fun (not killing them). I had some cool chats and eventually someone from my world (DB) who was already far higher into the JP jumped down and opened a can of whoop kitten on that engineer, actually throwing him down to his death. After that it was smooth sailing.
Took some time, yet a lot of fun.
I think most people already responded as I would. I too let people cross first if they need it, don’t see the problem with it either.
Anyway, anyone had the following scenario?
Joined a game that was already well on its way, naturally I was positioned last but instead of starting at the starting point it threw me at some random checkpoint midway. I instantly picked up a Time Warp and upon using it I was ported right on the checkpoint before the finish-line, actually finishing first in a run that took me about 20 seconds xD
I love my Guardian and I can live with the lack of mobility in comparison to other classes. You can’t be equal or excel in every area.
Having said that, fix the bug that prevents stacking of Symbol of Swiftness meh
I really like this idea! I’m sure this could be a great plus to any Guild wishing to do random activities with its members.
Personally I’ll add one other suggestion;
It would be sweet if they could perhaps make a zone where all the mini games are located (Not in Lions Arch). As the Zephyr Sanctum will soon fly off again, the zone that it’s docked in is most likely temporary as well. This zone could serve as such a hotspot though!
If doing damage to more people via an increase in the AoE cap is a technical limitation that would lead to more skill lag, it seems to me like we could reduce skill lag by making heals/cleanse/buffs all group based.
I have long been a proponent of putting in a proper squad management system and converting all friendly abilities to group/target based only. I think the quality of play and the viability of squad and smaller group level play would be increased.
Being able to all just blob up with no effort to forming groups or to be organized in any fashion is what has created such a low skill cap in this game.
Totally support this as long they add the proper Squad / Team support!
If removing the AoE cap isn’t an option, maybe add back body blocking.
I thought it was full blown kittened when they announced that wouldn’t be in GW2.
Then it would be literally impossible to stack on top of each other. Even trying to stay excessively close would make it too difficult to move.
How game changing this would be, oh wow
Might actually be nice!
well i dont think guardian buffs are top priority for anet atm, especially not on RF, you get 5 sec on invul alone from rf and ur heal plus guardian is tanky as kitten anyways.
lol what? I hope this is a troll post. If not you need to learn about the game.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Renewed_Focus
This reminds me of wood league posts and why it’s always best to just ignore them.
I had to re-read his post a few times as well before I figured out what he meant (I think).
He means 5 sec of total invulnerability from Renewed Focus and the blocking ability from Shelter (3+2). The latter however isn’t the same invulnerability as RF gives.
Well that is some idea Furesy.
Only thing that scares me are those overflow servers.
Hmm, when I get home I’m gonna think about it a bit more and make a solid discussion topic for it to get some feedback. Who knows ^^
