I normally never switch, unless I joined with my thief (before patch, solo que) and ended in a team with 2, 3 or even 4 other thieves. I sometimes switched to my guardian when someone asked.

I was in the same position as you about 8 weeks ago. I re-installed and found myself a Dutch guild to play with. PvE is still the same, wardrobe was nice and I spend 2 weeks to find all the skins I wanted. Had some items on bank that greatly increased in value since I left about a year ago, so I had all the gold I needed for them. Nothing changed for PvE, I ran through the LS and new zones Dry Top and Silverwastes pretty quickly and cba to pay gems to unlock an LS that will give me 10 minutes of playing.

I tried WvW, as I was playing that a lot at first, but it is far worse than before (e.g. 1 year ago). So I stopped playing that.

PvP got me hooked, I played a lot of solo que and even though conquest get monotonous, I ended up playing a few games and then a few more every day. Last patch however killed solo que and I uninstalled 2 days ago.

That’s my experience, I’m going on another break and will see how the game looks in a year or so. Try it

Hmm, I uninstalled yesterday.

I’m a casual PvP’er that loved PvP in GW1. I only recently started PvPing in GW2, after I had done everything in PvE and collected every skin I wanted. Before this I mainly played WvW, but that is really no longer fun.

I got hooked on the PvP at GW2. but as anyone, conquest became rather monotonous, but I still logged every day to play a few games, which would usually turn into a lot of games. I only played solo que and enjoyed it quite a lot. It’s sadly ruined for me now.

What rank are you guys? In the last 2 days I’ve been logging in once a day to actually try the new PvP system but I have yet to play a single game… I’ve waited for a que to pop for about 40 minutes? ;s I’m rank 31 atm

Okay, today I got in relatively fast and have been getting a lot of matches after that. No idea why it didn’t pop yesterday and the day before.

Can’t say I’m positive. So far I’ve played about 20 matches today and only one of them was relatively close. Rest was a complete blowout where it was Pugs vs a pre-made team. Un-enjoyable to say the least.

I do like the new map vote, though.

I’ve come to the point I don’t log in-game anymore to play LS and don’t bother with any of it anymore and simply read the summary on the wiki after a few episodes. For some reason it gives me a lot more “feel” towards the original love I had for GW1’s lore, something I never got from the PS or the LS from playing it ingame.

Then again, I don’t log in anymore at all.

I came back a couple weeks ago to try the game out again. Basically the only new thing was a couple chapters of LS that I had to unlock with gems… Well, I didn’t.
Didn’t feel like spending that amount of gems/gold on something that will last me 5 minutes. The only thing I enjoyed was Glint’s lair in the recent LS, that was nice.

Tried out PvP, played for a couple days and got extremely bored with the monotonous Conquest game-mode…

Got Leaf of Kudzu 2 weeks ago as a drop. Surprised, and glad, at first. Now it’s sitting in my bank and I’m like meh, I don’t even care anymore.

Haven’t logged for a week now,prolly gonna uninstall again and check it out in a year again or so :-/

I don’t know what is funnier, the original post or the arguments people come up with against it.

I’m a bit surprised at Ranger being the least played profession in your data.

From personal experience I’d say I see Thief and Rangers the most in PvP, followed by Engi’s, Ele’s and Guardians.

Ranger is pretty good in PvP (some argue OP, in certain cases). Especially in soloq.

I don’t think this idea is bad. The only thing you would need to add is a ratio, based on the amount of players currently in the zone for one world against that of the other. E.g. if you are out-manned, you gain more points for kills (and the other world gets less).

I would have no problem with this at all. There’s plenty for us males to choose from.

This game is already ridiculous in the amount of sparkles and particle effects. So it wouldn’t hurt anything.

(e.g. just make all armor parts hide-able as well, would by far be easiest as well)

I was a huge fan of GW1 and played it for years. Granted, I took major breaks of many months, but eventually always came back. It was only after 7 years that I managed to get my Guardian title for completing all campaigns. I devoted most my time in doing quests and reading the stories behind them, I really loved that. They were stories in their own right, but often, also added info to the campaign missions and characters we saw throughout the world.

The campaigns in GW1 I really loved. Yes, they had their flaws. But overall, they had me hooked from the start (especially prophecies, I felt Nightfall was the least).

My problem with GW2 personal story is the same problem the first Assassins Creed game had. The end, and a large portion of the journey towards that end, is already revealed very early in the story.
Even before release, I knew the goal of the story was to stop/kill Zhaitan, the Elder Dragon. Because? He was threatening the lives of all races on Tyria. Why? He lived to consume magic. How to stop him? Unite the order/races of Tyria to fight him.

All the above, I knew before I even created my first character. From the very first personal story instance, I knew my end-goal and my road to it. There was absolutely nothing new. Throughout the entire story it felt like a drag up until the inevitable meeting with Zhaitan, who’s boss fight was in turn the largest let-down in this game lol
Add to this I find most the PS and LS chapters really fragmented, small and extremely short. My personal preference goes to the “lengthy” GW1 mission instances really. (last patch LS was a lot better though).

Side note, I really wanna find out what happened to Devonna, Aidan, Eve, Cynn, Mhenlo and the likes D;

Only thing you need for PvE is better AI, and with that, better boss mechanics.

But why stop here? I’m all up for reducing PPT when I logout. I hate it when the enemy world takes over my borderland when I am at work/gym/uni/sleep/toilet/walking dog/annoying my friends.

Anyway, yesterday I decided, for the first time, to enter sPvP. Rather than use a meta build I opted for your build, with a few changes

This actually works REALLY good. Since everything was new, I first had to explore the maps and get into the conquest type of play. So at the start I just engaged everything haha. That didn’t go that well, but after a few games it started to go a lot better.

I got totally wrecked against a really well organized team, but at the end of the day I feel things were going really well (see attached screenie ;D). I even started to get PM’s from enemies (and team mates) about which build I was using etc. lolz

What I love most is, that I totally wipe the floor with the “current” meta DPS medi guard!

Love this build, totally gonna stick with it, even decided to finally get Ascended gear, just for this :p

Hmm, a bit besides the OP initial point but… The new level 80 zones (for me) once more point out how I actually dislike the down state in this game so much. lolz

Technically, replaying the story for veteran players has become a totally new experience though. It’s not as boring as it used to be if you had already done the story, say, 3 or 4 times.

Now, the more you pay attention to it, the more confused you become It’s a wholeeeeeee new story!

I put your build onto my main guardian and have been running it even in PvE (it’s a lot of fun). I’m not a very good PvPer and have been doing some WvW and EoTM here and there. I mainly have problems with Thieves that rely heavily on stealth and mesmers.

The thief themselves are not a very big problem (so far), since they often can’t kill me, but just reset the battle every time before I can finish them off.

Anyway, I feel that is just because I still need to get used to the build and still have to get better as a PvP player, seeing I’m fairly new to it and haven’t figured it all out yet So for your next video, your enemies don’t really matter, as long as you keep making them :P

I never got a worthwhile drop in all this time, that changed last night though. Helped a guildie out for her title and got Leaf of Kudzu from a dungeon chest

I’ll just be selling it though, legendaries mean nothing to me (anymore). Once I had wanted Twilight or Sunrise, but not anymore :p So I don’t really care either way ^^

I’m interested to know/see how you deal with enemies that rely heavily on condition spam and/or control :p

Do you happen to be without a guild?

I ask because, I joined a much more active guild recently and haven’t seen the message since… mainly because (I believe) the game puts me in active zones with a lot of my guildies.

I’d say exactly the same, seeing I don’t have the GWAMM title.

I merely got 30/50 in HoM simply because it meant I could get all the special HoM items in GW2 and I conveniently already had 27/30 when they implemented the HoM system and was still playing through some of the campaigns on hard mode.

You see though, you assumed I had GWAMM because I played GW1 and cared little for it. It means nothing.

I’d prefer they reduce (cooldown) and improve overall effectiveness of certain slot 4 and 5 skills. The focus 5 skill is great, but the shield skills are totally ‘meh’, with way too long cooldowns… I love hammer on Guardian and I really like the slot 5 skill, but it’s cooldown, even with 2-handed mastery trait, is still really long for something that is easily dodged…
Torch is fun though, too bad for long cooldowns as well >_>

Personally I have no need to replay (and for some parts, play) LS season 1. I missed S2 completely and cba to play that even, but probably will in the future. However, I have no problem with Arenanet making S1 playable for people that missed it. But perhaps, a different idea for the community…

There are dozens of people that love GW, its lore and have some type of artistic skill (something I lack).

Maybe create a storyflow with some community input, a summary of S1, created by the community? :p

Ah, that classic mindset of thinking you “earned the right” once you reach ‘maximum level’. Being maximum level in this game says nothing. You can level to 80 in about 18 hours and that excludes crafting.

Nothing special, you’re not entitled to anything. Guild Wars is not that type of game. Skill matters more

About your points.
1. That are classic MMO’s, GW2 is not a classic MMO. You will find many lvl 80’s in starter zones and all around the world map doing different content.

2. You can’t find max gear in starter zones, you will definitely have to travel. Whether you want to do that or not, is all up to you.

P.S.:
When you are level 80 and get exotic / ascended gear, you will face-roll through all those starter zones anyway, even with the downscaling.

If I recall from the book this actually wasn’t the case, but...the lair was actually hidden by an illusion and the "lair within a single grain of sand" was a story made up to dissuade people from looking for it.

EDIT: From the build posted by Latham, it says it uses Exuberance runes, are those the actual runes you use? Wouldn’t traveler benefit you as well seeing you say your build is focused on high speed, providing 25% speed bonus? Assuming you mean speed in both DPS and movement :P

Stats can be improved by taking better food/utility and getting ascended backpiece (I have none atm, and went for rare since the exotic I have is not lvl 80 so no high grade orb possible).
It has a little less HP, but the overall crit chance is higher. Opted for rune of speed since it is cheaper but my overall preference would be traveller!

Better lower the cap to something like 30 or 20 (like in GW1) and change all the zones above 30 to the max level cap and some even above the level cap for difficult end-game zones.

Will make playing in different zones of the world a lot more fun and challenging rather than having the zones between 30 and 70 being utterly useless apart from a few designated events.

I’d choose labyrinth over EotM at this time. It’s only today and (maybe?) tomorrow, but you can get really fast exp in there. Three weeks ago I leveled a character from 1 to 80 in EotM and last week I did one from 1 to 80 in the Halloween labyrinth, the lab was a lot faster.

You could do it a lot faster, as my goal wasn’t to level as fast as possible, I just played this char while farming the lab. Used EXP booster about half of the time and played with whatever gear I got from drops.

I totally agree with this post (and have since forever). I refrained from making such a topic myself since I felt it had to real use, since it probably will never change.

GW1 had so much unique systems, that were both simple and were engaging, it’s sad to see GW2 adopted so little of it :-/

Most women don’t stretch the way the female human toons did in this game. The animation used in this game is a totally cheesy boobs thrust out stretch created purely as fan service to tween boys. Since I’m not a tween boy, yeah, it’s immersion breaking. Especially in an LS scene where something serious is happening.

Whether or not that is the case I won’t comment on.

But saying “it’s immersion breaking. Especially in an LS scene where something serious is happening.” in a game where apparently sparkles and particle effects are thrown at you at every corner and you can show off how rich you are by how much you glow, I can hardly take anything of the LS scene or story in this game “seriously” xD
