There was population and converge imbalance back in DAOC. In those days it was not server VS server but between the 3 different realms.

I’m surprised no has pointed out the main difference is that DAOC was not a conquest game like Guild Wars 2. The winner was not who had the most keeps but who can get the more kills. DAOC had no AOE cap and had long duration crowd controls that a small group (8 man) could take out large forces. It was fun and the imbalance was not as a big of a deal.

Couple of things for having more keeps were access to the huge dungeon of Darkness Falls, which at times it was great to let the other realm have so if your inside you could RvR with a never ending respawn of enemy players.

• I would love Darkness falls in GW2. Once we get rid of EOTM. Or maybe convert EOTM into something like darkness falls

Another was to add more super high level guards for the Relics which granted large damage bonuses depending on how many you had.

• Guards in GW2 are just way too soft. Except seigrazor. Might be good to have a system where the underpopulated server in that map gets a signifiant boost to all yaks and guards.

Problem we see in Guild Wars 2 is the current game mode is conquest and the majority of the rewards is for taking keeps/towers. Unlike DAOC the rewards were to killing other players.

• Not Really true. GW2 gives WXP for taking both towers/keeps and players. DAOC gave us RealmPoints(RPs) for doing the same. The difference is the higher level abilities you got from daoc which made u more superior to a lower (rank) player. Yes i know in gw2 we have only 2 real usefull player v player masteries, and i urge Anet to increase those 2 to more.

Let us not forget that Anet is trying their best to make GW2 WvWvW better than DAOC RvRvR. This will take time and perhaps bring alot of players back.

Ask Anet. A good number of the team that made DAoC are in Anet.

The current meta for DnD has not changed. But due to buffs in Signet of earth, its good to have Armour of Earth + SoE + LF

Now not having access to celestial is not as bad as one makes it seem

Infact the best eles out there only run half of their builds on celestial.

Why? Because the other half pushes you to which ever role u want to be more of – DPS or Tanky.

Yes celestial can assist to make it easy to min max stats. But when you are pro, you want to customise.

DnF vs DnD. If both had same skills and both wore almost the same gear but with different traits that benefit their specs, the DnD would wipe the DnF clean from the floor.

I suggest you try DnF first. You will have more fun. DnD when you are going pro.

FoR DND, yes you can try condi , but u aint going to enjoy it.

Now your build is, let me put it to you, not optimal, or far from optimal.

For merging server

how do we determine who gets merged?

• Based on WvWvW population, not PvE (Stats which are available to you only)

Where would we merge them to?

• Create Clusters, give them names and do what DAOC did

How do we maintain any sort of world pride or identity they have?

• Clusters create new identity. After all, the movement by guilds from server X to Y is not uncommon

How do we handle potentially merging with your mortal enemies?

• You cant. They will learn to get along. Offcourse you cant merge BG with JQ. Thats of the table.

For population caps, how do we deal with the longer queues on the worlds that can field enough people?

• Clusters will solve the problem

If it is dynamic, would players be able to manipulate it? For example, our world is ahead so we all agree to not play WvW so the other worlds are capped down and can’t counter us.

• That is a bad idea. Please do not implement it

Anet has many DAOC designers in your team. Use their experience on how to merge servers.

3 clusters would be enough IMO.

Not with the same benefits. If money was a real issue i would just go AC and get those first. If i had no choice. Though they are quite useless.

Superior Rune of Antitoxin but i dont think its cheap.

Rune of the Aristocracy from CM isnt bad.

Havent you heard, rangers were given super powers this patch.

Why worry about balance when the royalties from GW2 China almost equal the money made by NA and EU combined. If anything, when profits start slipping bad, expect NCsoft to step in to get their board to examine the cause of the decline. Until then, Balance is not a top priority. Profit is.

Right now I can only peak about T1 SEA

JQ has enough SEA Roamers.
TC does not have enough SEA Roamers.
BG has a bare minimum of SEA Roamers.

I do not know the situation during NA/EU or Early OCX.

You may want to check with the roamers during that time zone.

Rangers now do a truck load of damage, about 10 to 12k within seconds. So even with the bunker of bunker builds we are talking about 3 to 5k damage.

When you are facing 3 rangers who are positioned far apart all focus firing at you, you will melt.

So build is not the problem. Anet created a monster. Remember how we(the top dogs) could 1 v 4 like gods? And then got nerfed to the ground. Same will apply to every class.

Anet balance team —> Buff them to OP status and them trim them down alot and then slowly nudge them upwards till we are comfortable.

I am not really sure but it was fun to run a rainbow of commander tags for fun last night. Now we are only missing one last color for the almighty power rangers!

Yup. But DnD eles can use both with delight.

Staff eles in wvw are field bots. Including crowd control and aoe damage.

Again, eles dont scale well with healing so u lose a lot of other important stats in the process

I have been playing with many build types in the last 3 months just for giggles and fun for the DnD ele after 2 years of boredom

• Builds

DnD
02246 , 00266, 02066,02444

So for Builds the most efficient cantrip based build is 02066.

The “Lets have some fun” is 02246 with the incredible auras all day long and Signet of water and earth with LF just for LOLs.

The 00266 build is going to rob you of perma fury but give u almost perma protection with cantrips and is a build that is used also as much.

Other builds will apply but these are the tested and most used among dnd eles in wvw.

• Gearing

When you first start you will be having a mix of clerics,soldiers and valks.

Now as you progress , you first get rid of all your trinkets. Replace the entire set with celestial that you can get from laurels or PvE.

Once all your trinkets are celestial head on over to get your ascended back piece. Go Berserker on that.

Now after this is where u must do your own homework on what you want with your playstyle because trust me, its a pain to redo the rest.

Following that , get your ascended armour i.e. if unsure go all celestial though i like them to be 3 cav and 3 knights

Weapons should be celestial or if you feel like a risk taker , 1 celes or 1 berserker or both berserkers.

Please note, take very good care before making the armour and weapons. Hard to redo them.

• Stats

This is an area that cannot be agreed by there is an average consensus on the issue

1. Healing Power – ~500

Healing power doesnt scale that well for eles. Is there a difference between 1000 and 500 healing power, yes, but not as great as you think.

You want to aim for 3000 with stacks

What can I say? Aside from Blinding Ashes GM + new Firestorm (Glyph of Storms), there ain’t really new useful options.

But for some of us that use Signet of earth, the additional bleed stacks is going to be painful.

As of that matter, any dnd eles run full signets? I think u will need LF as a matter of principle.
