In light of the coming WvW enhancements, I started rolling around some scenarios in my head, theorizing how the overall WvW landscape might be altered by systemic changes.
These aren’t suggestions exactly, but more of a brainstorming excercise in “how would we play the game differently” that I found fun to think about, and I figured I’d post ’em up and see what theory crafting went on.
1 What if: Players could only pick up supplies from non-supply camp sources.
2 What if: Supply camps had walls.
Imo Supply Chain works good as it is, both cause you can defend a camp even without Walls, both cause that way it is atm you can always have a chance to fast swap em without having to deploy siege.
3 What if: You had to own your borderland’s keep to access EB
I like this idea… MUCH!
4 What if: You could repair siege with supply
On paper is a good idea but it could lead to give defenders too much upperhand.
5 What if: Score was tallied based on how long you owned something, rather than who owns it when the timer rolls over.

6 What if: You could command and store NPC allies
Nice idea if i could give Guards, let’s say, a more “aggressive” or “defensive” mode.
7 What if: Defensive siege upgrades were auto-manned by npcs.
I reckon this is a hidden suggestion to make Guards stronger when there are few defenders / they are outmanned, too much AI involved i guess.
8 What if: Workers for upgrades upgraded from the outside of the objective.
To make em killable? I don’t think it’s a good idea, i managed to defence / buy time in a 3 vs 20 situation with workers upgrading, should work that way imo.
9 What if: Orbs were reworked as single use siege WMDs that “powered up” at their pedestals
Aoe bonus in Range from Keep where they are stored? I concur.
10 What if: Siege had to be finished by NPC caravans.

Get rid of Aoe limit and introduce Aoe fall off dmg and heal wise, the further you are from center of Aoe the less dmg / heal you take.

Thought [UNTY] primetime was a bit earlier, at least i remember so from previous fights against GH, (but i’m old and my memory is prolly crawling xD) none the less yday night point rush gave spice to last days of confrontation IMO.
I can understand your feelings, but i know 1st hand that GH faced similar (well not THAT bad) odds in the past and simply kept fighting against em.

I’m Aussie and i know there are a few others from Aus/NZ on our server (We aren’t important enough to get our own servers :p), and although there are us and a few US people around, as far as i know we don’t have any fully US/Pacific guilds on AG. Most times when i chat on the server mumble during the night it’s mostly all Europeans that pull all nighters and stay up very late to play with just a few of us guys from other areas in the world mixed in. I’m not saying that US/Pacific people don’t add to our night team but we still have a very active night crew just from Europe. RoF also has a fairly active night crew during the night but you seem to lose all your people at around 5am though to 9am GMT, if you could fill that gap you would have a very competitive night team and hold a lot of your territory GH does seem to lack any sort of night team past about 2am GMT but during the day you guys are truly formidable foes, getting a night team together would see you rise up the ranks for sure. I’m sorry our night capping annoys many of you on GH/RoF but many on our server like to play late at night, and also us Aussies and Kiwis gotta play too Hopefully after this week it wont be so much of a problem for you.
“Nightcapping” it isn’t annoying per se and your points are more than valid.
Of course you can quite understand that starting every day with an whole map painted Green and upgraded to the bones isn’t fun either :p
Let alone that i feel for you guys, cause it must be really unfunny to mainly go around PvE doors and having the odd encounter now and then during your prime time (no pun intended!).
Symbol of swiftness NEEDS to be fixed. It can actually overwrite and REDUCE the duration of swiftness, for example if someone casts swiftness lasting 20 seconds, and you dump a symbol of swiftness on the floor, and run through it, you only have about 4 seconds of swiftness remaining.
This must be, alongside with the skill literally not working in some situations (terrain aggravates the problem but it seems really random sometimes), the most frustrating bug for me, seeing as it doesn’t stack duration anyway with other swiftness spells.
At least fix the stacking part if anything.
Oh kitten you can evade twice in 4 diff directions L2use it and not stand in bad. You ppl need to stop kittening already. If anything portal gives YOU a perfect AoE target. So sick of ppl who can’t figure out simple mechanics crying about abilities.

In WvW at the moment is all about Mesmer Portals, and who has the most numbers to channel true.
I don’t find it that skilled nor much thrilling now that the novelty weared off.
That said, to my knowledge, is the only Skill that doesn’t adher to the holy 5 restriction of Area of Effect spells (yes it is an Area Of Effect skill after all).
This spell shoud be a group utility spell not a mass utility spell in my opinion and limited to 5 people (Mesmer included ofc).

Real problem with Thieves is the ratio of Risk over Gaining atm, rendering problem is just making it worse.
Dps is a minor (or even not) a problem imo.
Pretty sure some1 already suggested this, but what about having a base graphic version of enemies to render?

Whilst I agree with some points made in this thread, it is unfair to think AG’s building success is down to simply other Guilds jumping to us.
We have been making good progress with our coummity site, getting people involved and working together. UNITY’s open mic night – inviting every www player to join them on a community mumble – has gone a good way to proving this.
People talk of our night caps, and the graphes from MOS dont lie, we do have a good night cap team, but often UNITY events start at 11pm, rolling through to 2am, 3am. This added to the open mic communication makes for an effective fighting force on a late evening/early morn. Not simply numbers, but good teamwork
Don’t think any1 want to mow down your Server teamwork or whatnot, but the fact that every morning all is painted green and upgraded isn’t really completely related to the fact that you guys play better from 00:00 to 5:00 ain’t it? ^^
I second this, one of the worst changes made by ANet till now.
If we do fight again, I hope you can maintain as good a presence as last we met. Really enjoyed it vs GH, just a shame about your night crew. Some KISS have moved I’ve noticed yes, but very evidently not in full force just yet. Think they’re completing the transfer tonight at reset.
I really hope this week doesn’t end up being a walk over because of it though, I welcome KISS and they’ll help tier 6 fights a lot though.

3 is the magic number.
Trouble is Gahn, that doesn’t happen. Realm 3 targets Realm 2 in order to try and not get the wooden spoon. Realm 1 targets Realm 2 in order to keep them down and not relinquish the top spot. Realm 2 gets absolutely battered (or possibly kittened?) from both directions.
With the promotion/demotion mechanic, the three parties involved are incentivised to “play the points game”, rather than engage in a little “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. (My DaoC days are many, many years ago – did RvR have anything similar with level brackets for realms? I don’t recall it, but then I often struggle to remember my name these days)
There wasn’t anything similar in Daoc, the 3 way Realm vs Realm was confined to each server.
I understand your point of course about what’s happening right now but in long terms it doesnt really pay off in my opinion

Don’t care about spies as long as they only spy and don’t do stuff like wasting supplies, siege blocking an entire server by building 943089 Arrowcarts etc.
Simply relaying information won’t do much harm besides giving the server accurate information on the commanders whereabouts, supplies in different holds and defensive siege.

As I said, I don’t mind, if they feel like they need it, let them do it, you can’t stop them anyway until free transfers are entirely gone.
I concur; as long as the spies don’t actively boicot your actions and they just leech Intel info, even tho i find it stupid and childy, nothing can be done about it.
Nowadays most of really important Intel anyway flows tru Voice Channels so little harming is involved in “spying”.

Tis the typical matchup wherein the 2 underdog servers should coop against the overpopulated one, much like it happened back in Daoc with Hibernia and Midgard banging on Albion large numbers :p
1900 Kills more or less 450 Badges.
Now that i wrote it i can’t stop laughing.

This week is fun tbh, as long as i don’t think at the gold i wasted in upgrades tis morning xD
Will try my best to answer this:
1 – Depends. Since we got low starting health we do suffer alot from Condition Damage so your best bet is packing Conditions Removal Traits (Shouts or Meditations), i find sometimes difficult overcoming CC arsenal from various classes also but you got some wayout of that also (Intervention for example). My experience in 1 vs 1 is average (i might be a bad player after all xD) but the most i fight is 1v2-3 anyway.
2 – Fotm is GS/Staff so i’d say yes. I prefer Hammer/Staff tho.
3 – I run around with 16,5K hps and i find myself at a good spot between High Vitality and no Dmg and No Vitality and Dps Monster.
4 – Not as Warrior, Guardian can dish out good Dps with not so high spikes.
5 – I won’t comment on this. I don’t agree anyway.
If you change Staff #1 to be a chain, i bet it would lose the 90 degrees Arc.
I prefer it as it is to be honest.
As for the Scepter .. well #1 skill is a bit too slow and too easy to avoid outside of dodge, but that’s a point we repeated ad nasueam and i don’t see Gw2 Devs changing it anytime soon (altho an explanation about it would be more than welcome).
Save Karma for 80 when you should know exactly what you wanna min/max (apart the obvious Temple Armor at 80, more equipment might be introduced later and you never know).
You can get crafted stuff for keeping up from TP and that’s more than nuff imo.
Since you didn’t pointed out if it’s for Pve or WvW, i’d say that you miss a bit on Power and Crit Chance so work on Power and Precision mainly.
Prolly Mortal Helm from Cath of Silence (Exo 32 Pre, 32 Vit, 45 Cond Dmg) and Arcon Shoulders from Cath of Zephyr (Exo Pow 34, Tough 24, Vit 24).
Berserker Amulet (Exo 90 Pow, 64 Pre, 5% Crit Dmg).

Apart the faction / skill points ones, exactly why there are mobs in WvW?
They hinder fights and movement and can be tagged for downed “auto” resurrect purposes.
Only real meaning of em is giving xp (which shouldn’t really be prime objective of WvW) and an easy way to power up Sigils (which i find it unbalancing).
Can we just get rid of em please?
What about reducing it’s speed slightly ~cough / very slight ~, but giving it a “Seeker” mentality?
They could still run out of range, but just not strafe it…
And ofcourse, still dodge-able etc.
It’s already really too slow, even tho i understand the theorical backload capacity.
The Seeker idea is really needed instead, seeing as at the moment they just strike what gets on the way while you are firing them. (pets, mobs, guards).

To let you know the situation of Gunnar’s forces at 11:26 CET. There were around 5 of us, on 4 maps.
I play on GH so i perfectly know the situation number wise, i do know also that 5 ppl are nuff to get things done (play guerrila warfare and move fast across the map in not an obvious circle) and earn points, Defo play smart and have your share of fun ^^

For every kill you did in RvR (like WvW) you earned Realm Points. Depending on how much damage you did you more point you got, you highter realm rank the enemys was abit more point you got also i think.
First you needed to earn enough realm points to rank, every level had i think 10 mini lvls in them. So from RR 1 till the max lvl the first years was RR11. You actually need to go RR1 Level 1, then RR1 level 2 up to RR1 lvl 10 that turned your realm rank and titel to RR2. (And to reach RR11 only a few did the first 2-3 years).
The points you earned every minilevel could you spend in some unique and some basic skills/attributes for your character. You had alot of passives like give your character a boost with +1 str, or dex, pwr whatever you want. Then you had other passives, some cost more some less points. You could also spend point on unique skills.
But i will tell you the points you get you need to think wisely how you will spend them, depening on your group setup or if you going to solo etc. For a perfect group setup with a good RR like rr10 they would be abit OP meeting other lower RR grps.The thing is, i didnt care if i got killed sometimes by a full guild group with RR10, they have earned the way, they should have the skill, for me its ok that their characters are abit better. The only thing that comes from that is more challange for your lower RR group that alot of times could own RR10+ grps also.
Also, depending on my characters that are 5 rr8+, alot of them back in the days probably says it was no problem to start a new character and reach high RR at any time. The higher RR gives you a boost but its not making things impossible for others either.
