That’s what we’ve been shown.
Yeah makes me sad. Happened again just now, 7 consecutive interrupts on a clustered group – it would have been chaos and very fun. I guess I just have to move on or play chill Necro (eww) for mass condi spread.
Virtues Burn Guard says hi!
I’m okay with Mistrust being killed with the improvement to Ineptitude. A simple re-tooling and I can get all those confusion stacks back in other ways.
You have to intentionally build for quickness uptime though. Mesmer can otherwise accidentally have high or perma Vigor uptime. However easy it is for Firebrand to maintain quickness, its easier for a Mirage to maintain Vigor.
Ambush attacks function just like Thief stealth attacks. You actively… activate the skill within the ambush window just like you would backstab within the stealth window.
I feel like, at worst, Phantasms will also gain an ambush attack based on your current weapon. Whatever the case, we’ll find out this weekend.
Condi guard has been effective ever since Burning stacked, and I ran it even before that. Its absolutely viable in pvp, and I’ve been running it in wvw to good effect.
I’ve been running Zeal, Rad, Virt on one of my guards and its been fantastic.
Deadeye stolen skills are already different than Thief stolen skills. We’ve only seen one (two? afaik) of Deadeye’s so there’s not a lot of speculation you can make.
Silent Scope just transforms the Kneel skill into Sniper’s Cover. We haven’t seen Kneel itself so there’s no information, but you’ll be immobile either way.
Yes, I have thought about it, but thats sacrificing both too much survivability and damage at the same time, by either giving up on shiro or glint.
Also using a legend just because of it’s condi cleanse capabilities won’t make the whole situation any better.
In addition you will miss out on a lot of mobility using the centaur stance.
(Managing the tablet is going to render you quite immobile on the open field, when playing alone)
This is kinda how Rev is built though. The legends heavily define the roles you choose to take. If you want more condition cleanse on any class, you’ll need to make some trade-offs. Ventari and Mallyx are what give Revenants condition defense, just like Mesmer getting theirs from Mantras and Inspiration, or Engineers with Elixirs and Alchemy. It all depends on how much you’re willing to invest to get the results you want.
Pow, Hpow, Prec, Condi is a stat that can be seen during the demo. Sounds like a pretty decent option for a few healer types.
Coming from the PoF premade build:
Replace Valor with Radiance and take x-3-3. You’ll get VoJ refreshed on kill which allows you to spam it for Blind and Light Aura, giving you survivability and damage with the Radiance traits.
Definitely swap Zeal to 3-2-3 for better synergy. Virtues x-2-1 is also better than the default.
Since the default armor is Marauder, you’ll want to focus on power. You can replace it with Valkyrie and Strength Runes since you’ll cap crit chance very quickly. If you want to keep the traits close to as they are, I’d change the armor to Carrion and get burning runes if available (can’t remember what all is there). Definitely do the above Zeal and Virtues trait changes though. Valor can be replaced with whatever (Radiance 1-2-1 is good for burning). Since you can have 3 armor sets total, you could just make a power and burn build and swap between them.
Every weapon can be a condi weapon with Permeating Wrath/
Axe already outputs the most burning just from PW, let alone the bleed and burn stacks it adds.
Symbols used to not give conditions, but that changed. Now they can be boon-less. Its a conscious progression that Anet has chosen.
Axe cast times assume quickness where they aren’t that crazy
Mace/Shield gives aegis, which gives quickness. All of a sudden Mace isn’t so slow.
Radiance and Valor each give traits that can recharge Justice and Courage respectively. You’ll have options to get into those tomes more often if you choose to take them.
Firebrand is going to be a different kind of traitline, but I’m excited for it. There are a lot of potential combos, but I’m probably going to go for Honor/Virtues/Firebrand myself. Condi damage with some support.
How great is it that a clothy is the tank in gw,
GW1 had Elementalist “tank” builds that focused on earth, and then there were the 55 Monk builds and all that jazz. There’s no need to get stuck with the mentality that armor class means anything when armor value is what’s important.
All of the Conjures are great now. LH can be brought into zerg frontlines like a Necro might with Reaper Shroud. Axe actually has a purpose, Bow has better synergy, GS is great for mobility, and Shield can be used. LH and GS are still probably the better picks, but by removing the charges you really can go ham with whatever you’ve got.
Conjures are solid now.
I use takedown round on 3 of my 4 engis.
KB on one. I had to switch which one had KB, but that’s besides the point.
Honestly, they’re fantastic as is.
If you get xp for it, you get the “on kill” effect.
Hey, if you’re right, by your own admission and provided examples, Anet will change it to something reasonable. What’s the problem here?
That’s under the assumption that ANet are perfect beings incapable of making any real mistakes; which is probably somewhat how you view them. I think most people know that’s far from the truth though.
That literally makes no sense, as the premise that Anet would be changing Firebrand at all would mean they’ve already made a mistake and are willing to change it. Obtena has never said Anet can do no wrong, but you definitely seem to support the idea that Anet can do no right.
Don’t forget that Renewed Justice and Courages Return are around. I expect maximizing those traits will be the key to getting the most out of the respective tomes.
And in whatever state Firebrand is in each of the three game modes, I’m sure people will make things work out. Sometimes time is all that’s needed.
Cut damage by 66%
2 additional orbs per cast
piercing projectiles
Implying that Sniping and “healthy game design” are mutex is your greatest fault.
Right after thinking that your idea had anything to do with Deadeye. Anet does read the forums often and will get ideas from them, balance is done with Anet’s ideas and interpretations, not the forums’.
Just add together the current cds of the skills within the tomes. A 20cd skill used 5 times is a 100s cd, plus the time spent within the tome itself.
Ya, because if anything kept GS rangers alive, it was Signet of the Hunt.
Another possibility is that Chrono, Firebrand, and Renegade only intend to provide ~50% uptime each, so you’ll need to take a combination to reach 100% uptime. However, this crowds out dps slots, so you’ll have to build your comp around hitting certain thresholds of Quickness and Alacrity and adjust your dps accordingly (cooldown or AA based).
I’d actually prefer that option, as it opens up more than just a single uber comp that brings everything anyone might want.
I remember the last time I was in the all Ele dps meta comp.
We killed the bosses so fast we got double loot
I’m really glad we’re all getting to participate in a really heated discussion here.
Just pages and pages throughout the forums
So quick to judge
No need to be so defensive
I mean, fighting for honor and justice is admirable
But don’t let your burning passions smolder too long
Or there might need to be an intervention
Expansion is Sept 22, so not entirely months away
P/P+Rifle, 60% Boon duration, Charr for racial

Spirit Weapons were mentioned by a dev alongside Physical skills for Warriors.
Its going to be a meaty balance patch like the June 2015 patch which prepped the way for HoT.
If you enter a territory that you do not own while gliding, you will be kicked from your glider.
Please pray for all these people who cannot read. 1 like=1 prayer.
Reminds me of the sonic cycle. For one thing, I know this cringy fanbase will defend this elite spec to the death.
One that you’re a part of. Thank you for participating.
This is not the thread for that question
I blessed the rains down in Africa, but even then they couldn’t wash away all the salt in this thread.
You only need a minimum amount of dps to complete raid content and I’m pretty sure you can frequently reach that minimum even if you have a hammer guard. That’s viability.
Bolt will be for an rp character on my alt account.
FDS or something for my main account
I tried, guys.
As of now, it looks like the OHKO ranged-stealth burster people with a level head in balanced/fun gameplay are so fearful of.
Anet doesn’t contract work out to forum posters, so I don’t know what you think you attempted.
Hammer Condi guard….
Nuff said
If that’s what you think he meant, I have some bad news for you
Well, you shouldn’t be running meditrapper while zerging either
Wow i was so exited
This was your first mistake
ranger with heavy armor and heals.
This was your second
What defenses do Rangers not have? They have just about every type of defense in game.
GW1 was rife with limited/specific synergy and I really kind of miss that.
Axe also stacks Might, enhancing hybrid damage output. Likewise, the Axe trait improves ferocity, which helps either axe’s damage.
If you truly claim that you need to use one utility slot for low duration reflect, then you are playing with a group that doesn’t use any decent builds. Guardians with M/S, Ele with earth aura, revenant hammer 4, even druids with staff 4 can provide protectile reflection just with their weapon skills. Wasting an utility slot for a reflect is bad. Besides if you really need to negate protectiles, ElixU toolbelt already has you covered, while simultaneously providing you with permanent quickness if you have a proper build.
Only one of those is a reflect and funnily enough its low duration. If you meant general projectile defense then that would be another thing, but reflect offers just a bit more than absorption
I am a fan of Elixir U and elixirs in general. You can otherwise build heavy projectile defense as your niche. Its a pretty decent secondary priority for a zerg to have similar to many of the other roles Engineer can fulfill like Superspeed.

Power HGH Rifle worked out well enough for me when I ran it. You get a lot of utility out of elixirs and spend any free time plinking away.
I don’t think Anet takes personal requests
Multiple of your own fields don’t have an additional effect. According to the wiki it sounds like multiple thieves each with their own CG will, but I haven’t seen it personally.
Yeah, CF isn’t a good 1v1 skill and it does have some risk associated with it. The mechanics support high population situations, both the damage and ally cleanse (100 seconds total worth of burning in ideal circumstances). Contrast that with Zealot’s Fire/Flame, which is a fantastic single target skill, and both skills have a purpose. Both ZF and CF just need some qol which we’ve all mentioned a lot.
(edited by Ghotistyx.6942)
I did the math awhile ago, but CF is only a dps loss against power sword AA. Against any other AA or when hybrid/Condi, it’s a dps gain even against sword and 3 targets. With Permeating Wrath and 3+targets, it’s a quality damage skill. Its biggest problem is the hard to notice ally cleanse. I’d prefer if they changed the condition cleanse to once every three pulses and include the caster, but if they don’t change anything I just want to know how effective that condition cleansing was.
I also want Jesus Beam back. Rabbit’s proposal is very close to perfect.
Adding Might increases damage in every situation where you aren’t capped. It would apply for every condition removed from an ally, so you could have a visual representation of exactly how effective you just were. The Might intentionally increases the power and burning damage of just the skill itself as a nice little bonus to using it to cleanse and damage. It would have a weird interaction with AH so while it’s not the greatest, it does show a good concept for what would benefit CF.
I’d totally be down with returning Jesus Beam to its former visual glory.
I wouldn’t change Shield of Judgement. I don’t think the proposal affects enough to make it worth changing.
Cleansing Flame doesn’t need its own burning when VoJ makes every weapon a burning weapon. I’d rather have it remove conditions from the caster and allies once every 3 pulses. At least have it benefit the caster in some way when you remove conditions with that skill. 3s Might for each condition removed?
