I think berserker builds with rifle and static discharge have insane DPS rate TBH.
PVE wise, i doubt warior can out DPS that, anyway war still have more HP and heavy armor.

Im a fan of p/p myself. That aside, in my pvp expierence it can be hard to land attacks well between stuns and fears etc. with the p/p. As engie is a class that has to keep moving back and forth to make all our skills land effectivly, i find shield very awsome to get me out of though situations when melee proves ugly. The problem with p/p is for me that i dont have enough stunbreakers/escpapes then and get in a deadlock. Skill 4 on p/p is really awsome though, big dmg, short CD.

Rocket boots are too buggy for me, half the time it doesnt even work because appearantly you have to stand still to be able to use it. Wurst skill for me.

Warriors, Guardians mostly. Some mesmers can stun a lot. Indeed also other engies, elementalist.
Anyway, i dont WvW a lot. Lot of running around too little action for my liking.
My exp is mostly based on spvp/tpvp

I was wondering if our class should not be introduced to more acces to stability buff.
Right now i love the throw elixer AoE stabilty (even though its not that long) It helps a lot. Still since our class was kinda designed as a heavy class, and we are mid/close range combat class. I feel like most our effective skills (kits, gadgets, turrets) work best in close combat. Flamethrower, bombs, elixer gun, heal turret, Personal Ram, Granades (yes in pvp hitting 1500 range with grandes in 1 vs1 is nearly imposible), flame turret, thumper turret, slick shoes, etc etc.

We are like 80% a melee class, yet we get 5 sec stability? (thats if we have space in it for our build.) To make most our gadgets and turret builds work out i think stability could be a key for this.

Right now skilled wariors/mesmers/necro/ele cream us because we just have to be close to be effective class but we cant stand close because we have no chance to spam our skills.

Give rocket turret 5 sec stability instead of retaliation, or slick shoes 5 sec retaliation. I think we could stand our grounds a lot better and do what we were made to do.

haha yea those toolbar skill bugs are present a LOT, specially for our class. Its pretty enoying. Hell, at first i didnt even know if those granades got nerfed too or it really is a tooltip bug tbh.

Turrets can also help nicely in defending a point. Take thumper turret for protection spam and net turret for swiftness. And watch your enemie get frustrated trying to run after you. I must say im not a big fan of turrets, and probably never will be.
Anyway fair enough they are pretty decent nowadays in pvp.

Also id concider celectial amulet. The extra stats are really nice, and a bit off offensive is also a good defensive

why would you even want to concider putting turrets in a power build?
You dont use the grandmaster trait for it so… yea id just go hgh might stacking elixer power/ though/vital build.

I dont think might stacking is really an option without might duration runes.
So Its either chill or hgh. Like i said i used to run it with AR, but that is just to weak now and lost its magic. (for me at least) I agree though that it was an OP trait. (Though many classes have those and nothing being done about that, w/e)

I used to run Chill build with med kit (for easy swapping during combat) grabbing and stowning med kit is concidred using your healing skill so you can effectivly time landing chill on nearby foes. During the fight i tried keeping them chilled with freeze granades and also swapping med kit in battle. Runes of grenth give 2-3 sec chill and deals dmg and there is also a sigil (i believe it was hydromancy) That i used on my pisol. That too gives 2-3 sec chill on using a heal skill.

I ran 30 0 0 30 5. Granadier, AR and speedy kits.

So... turrets.

Stats to pick with turrets i think are power thoughness vitality (soldier) Since you probably will make most use of those stats.

I used to run a build with Grenth runes too, works pretty well. Keeping ppl in a movement and skill recharge lockdown is a key to defeat 90% of the builds out there.
Even condi spamming necros.

Too bad AR was hit s badly, i cant really use that build anymore. Now its back to basic boring HGH spammer build, since i find that about the only grandmaster trait still any good. And Granadier. I wonder when they will get nerfed.

I dont think flamethrower has the highest dps on itself as a kit. But when it comes to using flame wall to stack about 12-15 stacks of might for your entire party (dungeon runs). And using the skill 2 as much you can, and swapping to rifle for jumpshot every now and then.. Then the DPS is pretty nice. I would advice higher boon duration/might duration runes though. Looking at it that way, you do have more dps.
Thing is that other classes have easier might stacking ways for your team, or similair. Guardian only needs his staff for 12 stacks of might (lol) We need at least 2 skill slots and use combo finishers. And if more ppl have the same idea, your max is still 25 stacks of might so.. yea. Also often i get my fire wall messed up because other ppl use diffrent auras over them, and you wont get the might stacks but retaliation instead… lol

Bunker Down

Bunker down seems ok, but when i check my combat log i rarely find back the dmg it actually does. It almost seems like it doesnt land as often as the 2 sec Cooldown timer as you expect. I mean, you can see it in the combat log, deals decent dmg if you manage to stand on top of your enemy and atk ofc. But i dont see it as often in the log. I guess moddified ammunition is still stronger for maxing DPS.

How is the current Engineer?

PVE wise, fun and ok. PVP wise very little build variaty to stand on equal grounds with other classes strongest builds. WVW pretty good.

Sure a turret build is ok for pve, maybe wvw? If you want 0 loot but just help zerg.

Anyway to get the most out of these grandmaster traits you will at least need 2-3 turrets in your build. Because like you said all turrets work fine on their own, but thats about it, and for that you can pick better skills instead. Something that DOES actually synchornize with your build and traits. Or do you really want to pick grandmaster traits so you can bring rifle turret in your build.

What they dont seem to understand they are only destroying the engineer class. Nobody wants Turrets, nobody usses turrets, turrets will never be on equal base with other skills.

With AR nerfed there arent many choises left for us BUT turrets. Sad thing now im loosing to most meta builds and loose most matches and tourneys. Simply now what to do, just cant do it with this class.

Turrets are boring and weak and will never scale up to other classes. They have to keep trying to make something out of turrets for a while longer. Really buffs or reflecting projectiles is interesting but doesnt make a diffrence. You want to waste your grandmaster traits on that? Then again we really dont have much other grandmaster traits left. AR hit the nerfehammer big time, HGH is fun but thief need 1 skill to steal all boons and 1 hit you with them. For engineer our best traits are NOT our grandmaster trait, thats just pathetic.

Hmm i think its still a very good trait, the 33% trheshold is a lot often reached then the 25%. 100% was just plain OP. You were letterly immortal for a lot of condi builds.
50% at least doesnt make you immortal to condi, but at 33% hp its not so hard to fall back and recovver shaking off those condi easely.

Dont understand me wrong, i love this class but sometimes i feel im not needed unlike when i play guardian for example. I was hoping my fellow engineers could/can convince me WHY this class is actually unmissable.

Im reading all this, learning how other people that are enthousiatic about this class look at this class, and perhaps motivate me again :P

Im a bit worried as to what our role as engineer is/is going to be.
We are a jack of all trades class, and while that is fun to play we really dont fill in any of the “neccecary” spots right now. Guardians seem to be the uber OP healers that just press 1 or 2 buttons to insta heal and buff while removing conditions.

Most classes can make nice DPS or tank build. Is the engineer really going to stay behind with their exotic rated kit dmg? Or are we supposed to just buff up our buddies in pvp and pve? I played all the possible styles possible and want to play engie as long as possible, but i must admit sometimes it feels we dont have a personality as a class. We are the everything and nothing class, wich isnt really needed to get anything done. Can any fellow engies convince how wrong i am here, i would really aprieciate :P

Air blast also works as a reflection skill.
Granted, I don’t know how long its duration is and also that I’ve never seen another engineer use it to reflect something.

I must admit i did not know this…

Flamerthrowe might not be best DPS, but it certainly the best weapon for farming hoardes. Full zerker with juggernaut trait and its easy loot. I Prefer flamethrower over bombs and nades for farming.

I like the sound of the new traits, it might be true or not other classes get better stuff but right now i think its awsome they gave some new traits to try and work with considering our turrets and gadgets.

New Turret Grandmaster Trait

The thing im curious about is if this bauble protects just the turret, or anything under it..
4 sec projectile block could be usefull for sure. Unfortunatly its usually not the projectiles that insta burst our turrets though. And if its really just for the turret itself it will be usuless.

Anyway, we’ll just have to see if its going to be any good. I cant see everyone starting to use turrets for this trait just yet.

Berserker trait setup

30 into firearms give you +5% damage to bleeding targets, and +2% for every condition, which usually ends up being 10-14% dmg increase. and you get some bleed damage increase with the +300 condi dmg.

if you decide to run a grenade/static discharge setup, 30/0/0/10/30 will be better.

What traits you use in inventions and tools then?
Testing now with 30 30 0 0 10.
It does seem to be a lot stronger.

Hmm slick shoes are excelent escape mechanism. The running speed buff gets you out of trouble really often. Problem is your kinda stuck on might building with HGH so im guessing you want to keep your elixers. Your gonna have to find a balance with a few escape tricks like slick shoes/elixer S and loosing DPS. OR you are going to have to accept you run max DPS but need a babysitter all the time.

If you would dump HGH for Automated Response and add some stunbreaker/escape tricks or W/E you would probably solve your problem.

I was wondering what traits ppl choose when they go with full berserker gear, and why.
I would like to know for wvw/pve. (i dont like berserker in spvp).

Personally i use 30 10 0 0 30. But often i see ppl reccomend 30 30 0 0 10.
I was wondering why not the 20% critical dmg but instead a few % crit chance.
Since the precicion traitline adss cit chance/condi dmg.

With food (dragon bum thingy) up and precision oil i have my stats about:
-3.8 – 4k+ attack
-86% Crit chance (+10% from trait when in right range)
-123% Critical damage

I run with granade mastery, sharpnel (swap somtimes for exploding turrets) And 10% dmg from explosions.
I use rifled barrel and static discharge.

So im mainly focussed on using my 2 static discharges and pumping granades after that ( or same time).

Is the 10% damage trait rifle mod really wurth it?

I did not even know/realize that this mining pick was any diffrent until i read here about it! Its a bit sad that they want to sell gems that badly to make such minor changes. I dontate some every now and then because its a good game and i do respect the crew.
But everything is so pricey that you hardly get anything with 800 gems.
Buying gems for gold is really expensive, and farming is not much of an option.
Really keys for 8-10 gold each, with 00045328769565,6% chance on something cool…
Everything on the TP doesnt seem wurthy enough to spend so much gold on.
Only things that i buy are expansion tabs, character slots and the perma items. and sometimes a cool skin.

And now a new mining pick, i would want it but 800 gems! And my other pick will be useless then, throwing away 800 gems… If we could turn in our tools to get the better version adding 100-200 gems then i would happely do so! Right now, i do not feel like playing this game with them.

CD on Healing turret is very nice, you can use it so many times, and it gives AoE regen/ condi removal. Personally im always on med kit.

The new heal skill does come with an interesting toolbar stunner. But when you actually use it youll notice its really crap. 1 sec casting time for 1 sec stun? jus L o L.
It might give out a static discharge at an aimed tatget, but the range is also L o L so yeah.. most useless heal skill and not wurth the risks/trouble.

Engineer is a jack of all trades. PVE wise ppl want fast and effective party’s.
5 zerk wariors 1 mesmer.. 4 wariors 1 guard 1 elementalist etc.

Engineer is not uber good in anything specific. We Cant Teleport, our DPS is not as much as other classes, our buffs dont last as long as guardian or heals that effective, Our stealth is shorter then thiefs, Our “summoned weapons dont instanly burst down graveling burrows” etc etc. Like said before. We have kits, wich are exotics. Our dmg is less, and though we have acces to skills from almost every class. The effectiveness and duration make them weaker the the original classes. Besides the effects from legendary is a bit sad. We are usually in Kits, cuse thats what we do. Only granade kits shows us some cool stuff for that.

Power and bombing goes really well together. The bad thing about bombing is that its kinda Melee.. Wheter we are talking serious PVE or WvW or Spvp, We engineers are best mid range, going back and forth. We do NOT have heavy armor to support our melee actions to its fullest, and we have poor stabilty (Even with last update wich was a HUUUGGGE happy dance for engineers). 5 sec Stab doesnt cut it for me. 5 sec is 1-3 attacks :/

Berserkers is good for power stacking, engineers have some sick burst dmg with SD rifle builds.

Cant say im too much a fan of condi dmg in pve/wvw. It just doesnt do the dmg i want or give the wished loot for some reason.

I think Engineers are one of the stronger classes. They are tanky even for med armor and can spam a LOT of condies /dmg. Anyone that has put a lot of effort into engineer will notice how good they can be and how anoyingly indestructable with escape mechanisms they are to take down. even when fighting multiple enemies. It probably is a class that is harder to “master” so i guess not all ppl will find it that way.

I think Elementalist are the weakest in pvp at the moment. No offensive intended, and of course there are those that kick my kitten anyday :P Anyway could be my build, but i have little trouble with them overall.

Thiefs with 4-5 k heartseekers are my main frustration. Its just to easy, too much dmg.
And no chance to reply. They are more like Assasins, then thiefs…

I Reccomend Rune of the Noble. You have to get them with beetletun tokens, but they are awsome for engineers since we rock in might stacking.

Very good skill. The blocking is perfect defense, Pulling is awsome in both pvp and pve situations and the pry bar is good dmg. Personally i like the shatter nails too, but i guess it isnt all that good..

I agree, the mortar is a dissapointment. The range is not realistic, i throw granades further :/. The buggy skill lags makes it utterly useless. Sometimes it fires nothing?? Air?
I hope they will make something usefull from this, or rather they just completly remove them and give us someting else in return. Perhaps an elite turret that buffs or moves with you w/e. In SPVP i only ever use supply crate, and rarely elixer X. In pvp I use both. But i never see a purpose for underpowered slow moving, hard to get in right range firing mortars. Besides mortar launghers breaks if i excidently sneeze.

As for a possitive side to it, 120 sec CD is kinda ok..
