I think mecha legs is crappy. 25% is still slower then most classes, also 33% reduction on skills that reduce movement is useless. Your dead in 1-2 sec if they net of slow you. That duration reduction isnt gonna change that with these insane burst spikes.

You need stunbreakers and blocks if you want to be even able to stand around long enough in pvp not getting bursted down by ranger traps, ele burst, mesmer burst, thief burst or war swirling blade XD.

PvP is completly messed up and broken, so many skills dont work or activate half the time for me. Im 1 shotting ppl with granade barrage, wich seems to be the only thing on the lvl to keep up with that insane dmg ppl do.

Tools is crappy specialization.. Take a big loss there or run centaur runes.

Since healing turret is bugged and med kit so horible now we got to stick with lucky random gadget healer or elixer heal :/

Heavy armor exploit in the firearms line is ok in a berserker build (for farming orr with flamethrower for example) You build up swiftness decently fast while running around farming. Also maybe rune of the centaur will be a solution? Med kit and streamline kits are both buggy and messy so…

Mechanized legs might be only real option beyond this.

I used med kit a lot on berserker build for easy acces to swift/fury.
Now they made it so you actually have to throw med kits instead of auto dropping them in front of you. I never picked this trait because imo it was the most enoying trait there was. I use instant ground target so now i have to move my mouse cursor near my character if i want to drop a med kit item and half the time some1 else picks it up in the mass or i walk past the item not picking it up at all. Next to that to it forces me to keep my mouse cursor near my character if i want to properly use my med kit.

I like the rework they did with it, but this way i dont ever see me using it because of the poor mechanics on how to use the kit. Plz make it so it auto drops in front of you character again or put an option to turn off this messy way.

There is a minor trait that resets all your toolbar skills when you reach 25% hp, this trait is very nice to have, specially with long CD toolbelt skills like Elixer S, invisibility!

Even before update i already liked Flamethrower, Easy to handle and hit mulitple targets for loot. Flame barier for might stack, smokescreen, knockback.. whats not to like.
Now more dmg + 1 extra short combad finisher all the sweeter. I might try in pvp sometimes, but not sure if that would work. Having faced other flamethrower engies, i think it can be pretty enoying knockback/blind.

Heavy condi pressure classes = run and ignore. We are not made to combat them. Same with those hammer or fear spammers. Waste of time, unfair fight, dont bother.

Mortar is a joke, but deleting is pointless unless something else is offered. The lags and buggs with mortar make it even more useless if even it could be usefull in those rare situations.

Im running Clerics atm for pve/wvw. Its really lovely set and a real team booster.
Still using elixer infused bombing with 10% dmg from explosive and larger bomb area.
Also running regenerator backpack and automated elixer S (very good failsafe and allows you take take risks wich is needed with melee range bombing).

Next to that im using the flamethrower (had some good buffs too) And thumper turret. Use flame wall, burst with tumper turret for 9x might, 3x might from shield burst and 3x might from heal turret explode and 3x might from big ol bomb. (you can give 3x might from supply crate finisher too if you want). Togrhet with rune of strength you can bomb while doing very good dmg and still support team with DPS and heal spam. Flametrower can help with pushback of smokescreen very fast if things get to difficult.

Protective Shield vs Stabilised Armour

I dont like the long cooldown on protective shield.. 20 sec is a lot for a 3 sec dmg reduction. I would pick stabalized armour over protective shield simply because stability is our weakness and offers a constant effect, and ppl know this. Projection injection is much better with a 5 sec cooldown.

I always loved alchemy traitline, but the grandmaster traits in Alchemy dont seem all that good. Experimental turrets only shines in a pure turret build, hgh only in an pure elixer build and automated response is a joke. Inventions have either elixer infused boms wich is an ok trait indeed. Or again something that focusses on full turret builds.

Hmm granades are good with trait, but the condi dmg from granades isnt that good imo.
Blind + freeze deals 0 dmg. Other then that poison and bleed are ok, but i think you might be better of power builds on granades.

Turret engie is only good in hotjoin. OR if placed well in a very balanced team. Other then that they are not that good. Turret engie is only 33% effective with turret build, while a good roaming engie with kits can be more then that.

Another thing that got me thinking lately: Why is it that most (if not all) classes have a stunbreaker that also buffs stability directly, but the engineer has to pick either a stunbreaker or a very slow animated too short to be effective stability pot.

With the exception of Elixer S ofcourse, altough its not actually stability ofc. But it seems to be the only chainbreaker to get a second chance in battle. Or very fast reflex and luck (stunbreak and toolkit gearshield for example) But when being ganged by 2 or more ppl a stunbreaker often isnt enough. Elixer S is really one of the best skills though.

We have a few stunbreakers, but still id prefer some more reliable source for stability. We are much like elementalist in combat i think but we only have 5 sec stab from pot.. make that 4 because you loose 1 sec casting time. If rocket turret would buff stability insead of retal that would be awsome. maybe 3-4 sec

Thx all for responses, i see a lot of us think the same way! I guess its true that true balance can never be achieved. Even if both players use same skills/class/race and whatnot there is always a randomness factor of skills, luck and lags. Mostly it is thieves complaining, and altough i understand why, a smart thief should step aside and ignore it. A lot of good 1 vs 1 i had with other engies that i won and lost were determined on first strike. When it comes to that, thieves have absolutly no right of complaining i think.

So i have encountered numerous ppl in 1 vs 1 that started crying that i use my elite skill in 1 vs 1. I think it is kinda rediculeus. Engie class isnt really OP in anything unlike some other classes, and now we are not allowed to use our elite skill in a dual?

Ofc i could swap build so i can 1vs1 any class and fly around map with elixer gun and rocket boots, but wth is with that nonsens. Thief can stealth, war can take loads of dmg and loose condi fast, necro can con spam etc etc. Why would engie not be allowed to use that wich gives us the edge in combat.

How am i supposed to battle a thief that is unpossible to kill with non stop invis and dodges aside from lame flying around build. Idm if other ppl use elites, it gives them advantage too. If engie cant use elite like other class, we are not even close to equals in battle. Its like saying ranger cant use pet..

hehe good Point both of you. Rocket turret is actually very good. I use it in my main pvp build. Strong DPS and good firing rate, overcharge has decent CD and ads the nice outar sourced Knockdown. Perfect hiding behind your gear shield when overcharging rocket turret. 9/10 decent and good players dont keep it in mind and will get that knockdown that turns a battle around.

A valid reason to say why turret are so famous atm.. They got buffed and compared to other builds easey to maintain. Not hard to get the best out of them like kit builds.
Other then that engie who have poor condi removel and no stability, those two option seem to be the only valid ones to mean something in pvp. Who cares turret build have no condi removel or stab… Our whole class doesnt have much either way XD.

Im using this build for high lvl fractals. Heal spam about 300 up to 5 ppl with bombing.
Same time very good power based DPS and condi dmg. And ofcourse buffing the party 18-21 stacks of might before battle with good might duration. Thumper turret 9x blow up heal turret 3x, shield 3x big ol bomb 3x and if its in a usufeull spot you can supply crate if you feel like it for 3x

Sigil ads up another 3 for you personally youll be around 24-25 easely. Your bombs hit very nice. Ofc bombs is melee, so take some practice to learn boss animations, but there is a failsafe Elixer S trait very usufull for this build.

Missing swiftness, i know. Must say i dont really miss it much in dungeons/fractals 25% keeps me up just fine and mostly other ppl can buff it.

Engie has weaknesses that high end pvp meta players of almost every other class know how to use. They have no stability while most of our skills we need to move from mid to close ranged to ppl, without stability we continuosly have to risk getting stunlocked etc.
This means a lot of our skills are dumb to pick like dual pistol because getting close is danger that you cant affort. Also our condi cleanse is a joke, healing turret is a must have and vs a plague signet necro or condi war we stand little chance.

So i guess to be some sort of effective in pvp you must use particular skills (wich is true for most classes though). But if you ask me high end pvp, you are better off playing a better class to win such “duals”.

FoTM Colosus Hammer disapear

Im suprised this bug is still around. Lost about 3-4 FoTM runs now because of it.
If ppl fall down with hammer its supposed to return on full wipe, however for some reason often it doesnt. This leaves you with no hammer and its really irritating because that means you cant finish it. I have really started hating this fractal level now, wich is sad because it used to be the coolest one.

PLZ remove the hammer from this buggy instance or develop something else, this is most irritating loss of time.

100 keys - No very rare drops

Must admit i took the 1000 gems for 15 keys deal + 1 short evening of key farming.
21 keys used andi was very lucky to get 1 black lion ticket. Now ofc that is nice, but realizing you need like 30-70 scraps for a cool skin is like omg.. You get a scrap 1/10 chest maybe? Really there is far too much useless stuff in there. Why not put in the real skins?

Elixers are weak imo. Too slow casting/animation time. 1 sec for throwing a potion on the ground? rlly? Guardians can spam 6 skills in 1 sec why do we need to be nerfed with slow animations and cating times.. Really if you like elixer engineer, try playing shout guardian. You wont roll back to engie.

Only thing norn offers are a few transformation skills Wich are still pretty decent but not needed to overcome anything. Your probably better off simply using engie based skills. Cough Suplly crate only usufull elite cough.

For racial id have to say char vs azura, since they have huge edge on the3 roleplaying side for an engineer.

Also played engineer since beta and to this day forth still invest everything in it i can reach in the game. I have a couple alts lvl 80, atm only managed to enjoy gaurdian a bit because of the cheesy full condi cleanse heal spam and buff builds they have to offer.

I still enjoy the engineer very much this day forth because of our wide variety of options playing our class. We can do stealth, tanky, DPS, buff/heal, Condies, turrets and what not. Like a lot of ppl said already, there are always skills ready to activate, and tbh i rarely use skill 1 on my class XD. We are master skill spammers only equal to the elementalist. Although we miss our condi cleaning AND our “stand your ground” capabilities, our medium armor somewhat makes us able to take a hit. If you know how to play the engineer well, its one of the funniest classes to play i think. You can defeat a lot of good players. Against the strongest meta’s of any other class played very skilled players you will find the engineer about the weakest class. Simply because we have two major weaknes. Bad condi removal and very bad stability. Any skilled player against us knows how to use these weaknesses and easely overcome you.

Luckely PvP is full of ppl that dont even know what a turret is so you wont have to worry much.

Seems like some nice positive changes for us. And once again seems like dev encourage us to try and play with skills we usually dont use a lot. Altough i dont like the exploding turret nerf, i must admit that once again devs are probably right. This trait is for a minor trait OP..

I can tell you rocket turret is already pretty powerfull, and is even getting buffed so try using it.

Im usually suprised at the amount of dumb ppl engaging “turret builds”. Oh noes hes on the cap spot but i need to cap it, ill just stand in the middle of all these turrets while killing them all! Really like Veewee said Turret builds are focused on turrets, leaving the engie himself usually rather weak. At most if they have thumper turret they have 1 sec satbility and stunbreak. Other then that they can cleanse like 2 conditions every 15 sec. So yes standing on the cap point while getting shot with nets, rockets, exploding turrets or the engies rifle net/knockback is really idiotic.

Engi are very weak with mobility if you ask me. Only 1 very limited stability and most engie know to avoid elixer build in high end pvp cuse consuming elixer have trolol slow animation activation time. Most expierenced engi seem to pick kits and stun/lock breaker gadgets. Or perhaps turrets? Cant say i like turrets though.

This builds strenghts:
-A lot of Fury uptime from med kit+Googles+battering ram
-Easy and fast activing abilities that buff and deal very good burst dmg.
-Knockdown with rifle or ram and burts 3x static charge directly after so enemy cant dodge burst.

You can switch Speedy kits for reduced CD on gadgets or +10% crit chance i guess, whatever you like or need. You have switftness from med kit.
You can also take the knockback from turret trait instead +5%dmg in explosives.

So what your if warrior cant defeat one type of build from 1 type of class in game.
There are plenty builds i cannot defeat in game, mostly those with heavy condi pressure.
Game isnt made for one meta to beat all buids.

Turrets are not OP, some ppl just cant stand it they dont have the skills to wipe them.
Learn to deal with it, no single build is supposed to take on every single build/class in this game. Turrets system might be plain stupid, but OP only to ppl that dont know how to use power bases AoE attacks…

As playing this class there are numerous meta builds from other classes i just cannot defeat, no matter how hard you try. These builds will always be above you unless you change your tactic of approaching them.

Turret kit is actually a good idea, Keep healing turret as it is but replace all turrets for signet skills and put maybe weakened versions of turrets in a kit. Like miniversions compared to what we get now. Let those minis explode after like 10-20 sec. Removes the turret problem from the game, and we get to mobilize our turrets, thus making them more usefull.

I think Anet does not want classes to be able to burst like that. Thiefs were named thiefs for a good reason, and not assasin like in gw1. Their whole class is centered around their specialty: stealing. Thats all fine and fun, but saying that a thief is supposed to be played like hit and run or join the kill sound all wrong to me. All classes should be able to win an “honarable” 1 on 1 battle and STAND their man. Thiefs are just being played as a troll class by most ppl and this is why they are hated. Most of the time i prefer actually NOT teaming up with thieves because all they do is roam and go for easykils in a map, and this makes them actually loose the match often.

Thiefs (or more accurate name Assasin) are being hated because its the most frustrating class to play against. Either you get insane amounts of dmg in short amount of time and nothing you can do but spam AoE and hope you hit. OR you fight a thief that does nothing but spam condi while non stopd dodging and going invis. And the wurst kind is the thief that only atks when you are fighting a battle with other players and you hit 50% HP and they are like trolololo die HS spam. And yes, even if you can “win” or better them in battle, they say tata and run off. Whats even more hate is 2 thiefs ganging up and killing everything with ease.

They are not weak, just that you are nailed stuck on 1 ABC spot. This is why i dislike such a build, becuase no matter how long and well you can hold a point by bunkering in, if your team suck bad and do nothing, you are bound to loose the match.
I prefer a roaming/supportive build to aid my team all over the map instead being glued to one spot. Nothing more frustrating to see you your team fail and nothing you can do.

Well to help you out of your dreams but i can tell you that there is NO trait that cause explosians to heal. There is however a trait that causes Bombs to heal. Perhaps you are confused with that? TBH im not sure big ol bomb heals or not, i thought it were only the 1-5 skills from bomb kit, and the dodge roll bomb?

I think the best way to “master” a class is to put a lot of time into it. And use diffrent builds/traits/skills to find out what works well. Putting a lot of time in it probably doesnt mean 1 month. This can be up to several months and it probably never ends in getting better with your class.

Recently i started pvp ing with a mesmer instead of always going with engineer. But im playing so horibad, i cant seem to do anything right But i guess thats normal. Just need to learn how and when to use skills and how and when to move/dodge. When you can/cant engage and all those tiny things togehter that make you “master” any class.

Awsome job man! Your video’s are really well made. Its such a pain to think you beat a war left with like 3% health and he can still finish you off easly with the right combo chain so easely!
